I had selected a couple of rugs in their store & they brought the rugs to my home and set them out so that I could determine which rug was the perfect fit. The team provided a rug mat, moved furniture and found the correct position for the rug. I shopped at about four other rug stores in Menlo Park and Palo Alto and no one came near this level of service. In addition, there's no way an online rug store could provide any of this excellent customer service. The Oriental Carpet is the only store for superb customer service and stunning rugs!

Adi helped me in getting everything set up for my front room wool rug to be picked up for a much-needed cleaning. She was professional, very service oriented and friendly. Made me feel like I was handing my expensive rug to caring family. Isaiah came by on time, and he and his colleague made sure that everything was in order and offered to move any furniture needed before they rolled up the rug and took it to the Simonian location. A two week estimated return time was right on the nose! Anthony and MP dropped it off and placed it in my home unrolled. Both gentlemen were service oriented, on time, polite, and professional. Once I've rolled it out after cleaning my Hardwood Floors and getting the rug mat, I will add to this review. But so far, they're getting five stars.

I highly recommend Simonian rug cleaners. I had a Native American saddle blanket from the 1800s…read morethat was dirty, had wax on it from candles, and a hole. They were able to clean it all and repair the hole within a couple weeks. There is a little discoloration on the rug from the coloring in the wax, but who knows how long it was there - it looks MUCH better and is smaller in size than when I took it in. Everyone is really nice too. Parking can be a little tight, but you can find something on the street eventually.

Like so many others I have had a horrible experience with California Carpets! I wish I had read…read morethese reviews before I did business with them. The salesman talked up "100% wool carpet" and it has been a nightmare since it was installed. For starters it sheds like crazy, even months after install. You have to use a very special expensive vacuum for the carpet which the salesman (MARK) NEVER told us. And now it's hard to believe but the carpet is damaged from a plastic chair cover we purchased to PROTECT the carpet! Believe it or not the plastic over the carpet created some sort of heat and condensation, so the carpet got wet and completely disintegrated. Who ever heard of wet carpet falling apart? And whoever heard of carpet not being treated so it can withstand some water? And no one EVER told us not to put a plastic chair cover on the carpet. We were trying to protect it from rolling chairs and now it's ruined! They took no responsibility. After several complaints they came to our house, took a few pictures and said they would submit a claim with the manufacturer because they are not responsible. They only "install and sell" the carpet but then act like they are not responsible! I kept asking for the status of the claim and they finally got back to me and said simply "claim denied"! I then asked how can I get the carpet repaired because I certainly can't live with this and they have never replied. I'm going to file a claim with the BBB and consumer advocate sites. It's so clear that they completely rip off the customers and don't care a bit about customer satisfaction. They have not heard the last of me.

We had a mix of aged and damaged handmade antique carpets, along with some modern machine-made rugs. All were terribly dirty, in poor shape, and long overdue for cleaning. Shant handled the cleaning, and did a wonderful job at very reasonable prices. For the restoration, he used some trusted repairers who could do the painstaking hand-sewing required to save the older heirloom carpets, some of which we thought might be beyond saving. Palayan was a great experience on every count. Recommended without hesitation.
