The entire process from scheduling to the Floor Pros guys coming over for an estimate (done through Yelp) as part of bids, to arranging to have the contract signed, along with estimation of time of completion, as well as the finished work were efficient and seamless. While there was a slight hiccup with communication in terms of start time, this went away quickly with a phone call and them staying committed to the job. They listened carefully to instructions and requirements on site and executed exactly. The floors that needed work done were not just completed, but done so with very pleasing results. They took the extra care of covering other rooms / doors / fixtures with plastic so dust wouldn't go in from polishing / sanding. Went with this company over other bids because they seemed to have a large staff and an ability to schedule soon. What was supposed to be a 3 week job turned into a month out of my home and unresolved issues. This added significant cost in storage, relocation, and delays to other improvement work in my home. The second star is for the people that actually cut the wood and laid it. They were nice and worked efficiently and took off the doors, cleaned up, etc. The nails and rough spots and very old floor we had before has a newayer on top and i am glad about that. But i am also glad most of that floor will be covered with rugs to hide its blemishes and that repainting work is coming next for our walls. But folks cycle in and out of your home randomly, with several 'work' days where no one shows up so just because one person is earnest doesn't mean the next person to show up will be. Our blinds were broken, a several hundred dollar fix that will take weeks to repair because custom sized window shades have to be ordered. The floor is unevenly sanded and stained, each time they come back it looks worse. Particularly the rippling. There is stain everywhere - i am talking walls, trim, light fixtures, doors - yes those closet and other doors that were taken off for install of the hardwood were reattached (in the case of my kitchen door, poorly the bottom hinge wasn't even screwed in) before sanding and staining so those doors are now very beat up along the bottom. My brother came over to look and said, they'll be back, no one would leave work like this but nope, no idea when we can get our keys back and I know my spouse is over the stress of how terribly this project has gone and how we are ashamed to show the work that was supposed to improve our home to our friends and family. The biggest problem area that remains is the top of the stairs, where what this needs according to these floor pros is just paint, but I think is another example of their halfbaked stain unevenly applied to the edge and left to drip down. But even more importantly, there previously was a large piece of molding that ran underneath the top stair that they removed and I think it again needs a piece of wood to cover the literal subfloor you can now see post installation. Avoid the headache, pick someone who doesn't cycle through workers and will be on-site themselves the whole job, even if they are a smaller operation, their extra day or two of quoted time would have saved me a lot of time. read more

DO NOT use this company! While they profess to be concerned about quality, they are uniquely careless. Ebony stain was left (via brush, handprint, footprint, splashes) on almost every surface of my house. My $11,000 interior paint job was ruined and will cost me $5,000 to repair. Every baseboard needs re-touching, and several need repair. They tracked ebony stain onto the front steps of the house, which now require painting. Walls were smeared with ebony handprints. It was shocking to see what sort of damage a few guys could do. Even after I paid in full and wrote a letter explaining my disappointment (to put it mildly), the owner did not respond. Really disappointed as I'd read great reviews here! I called to request a quote - on their website, it states "call for a free estimate." I specifically asked for an estimated installation or cost per square foot to replace an existing hardwood floor (minus materials as I understand that is highly dependent on the specific flooring you choose). The gentleman I spoke with refused to provide any sort of information and each question was answered with "I can't give you any information without seeing it in person." I asked if he could give me a range, or an average for a very standard, straightforward installation cost to replace existing hardwood floors in a brand new home. He said no. He said they do not provide any pricing information of any sort without scheduling an appointment in person. Given the pandemic is still ongoing and we do not want to waste time or increase exposures by bringing in multiple difference contractors for estimates, it would help immensely if we knew how contractors pricing compared ON AVERAGE to other Bay Area flooring companies. This would allow us to vet companies and save time/resources by only bringing in someone for an in-person estimate if they were within a reasonable range of our budget. These guys refused to give me any sort of information or connect me with anyone that could even answer any of the questions I had. Horrible customer service - completely unwilling to work with a potential new client, and showed absolutely no concern for losing a potential customer. read more

Jason came to my house recently. He was arrogant, rude, disinterested, and possibly hungover. His first question was, "what are we doing here" as if we hadn't spoken in detail, just a day before, about installing wood floors (what the hell else would this be about?). He was evasive about answering even basic questions, and once even raised his voice to me in exasperation. I don't understand the attitude - maybe 5K is nothing to a high roller like Jason, but that's a lot of money for us, plus this is our personal home, possesions, and family that we would be entrusting to them (we're planning on doing all the floors, which according to Jason, would require us leaving the house or living without furniture for 6 days) - and he can't even bother to look awake and politely answer my questions. If this is their main sales rep and flooring expert, then I'd hate to see what their installers are like! A previous poster said that they were the lowest bidders, and I can imagine why - seems like the type of place where Jason hires his out-of-work cousins, ex-cons, and day laborers - hence the quality issues other posters mentioned. Also note the four filtered reviews, that are obviously written by fake people. If they are so good, why resort to Yelp tricks like that? If you are a landlord or contractor looking to get some work done on the cheap, then go for it. If this your own home and your family and possessions will be there, I wouldn't let these sketchy bastards anywhere near it. Need more proof? I don't often do reviews because one expects when hiring a service provider things will be done right. In the case of Floor Pros, I really felt compelled to draw attention to the beautiful work they have done on my home. I first hired them a couple of years ago to remove the carpeting on my stairs, landing, and upstairs hall and to install oak flooring. They not only did a meticulous job on the flooring, but the baseboard moldings enhanced my staircase and really look great! When I recently decided to replace the remaining carpet upstairs with the same red oak floors, Mark came to assess what had to be done and provided a reasonable quote. The floors were subsequently installed and completed on time, as discussed. The new floors blend in so well with the flooring that was installed two years ago, you would think the entire project was done at the same time. Again, another beautiful job on the baseboard moldings and the entire upstairs floors are just beautiful! My thanks to Mark for facilitating this work, and to Vu and Vin, not just floor installers, but true craftsmen that take pride in what the do. My previous realtor recommended Floor Pros. We've used them now on three different projects. The first project was to resand and stain our floors in our home. The second project was to install new hard wood floors into one of our rental units and the last time was to resand the wood floors in the rental unit after the tenant left deep scratches to the wood floors. Jason was our first point of contact for our home. The floors looked beautiful and he sent his team back multiple times to make sure that all the boards met our expectations and that there was no damage to walls. James was my second point of contact. He was very responsive to my phone calls and concerns. He met with me multiple times to make sure that I understood the process and worked well with the condo association to make sure that the review process was seamless. He also gave me advice on the floors. I was going to restain it the same color as the original. However, he said that a lighter color would make the unit look bigger and wouldn't show as much dust. We had a different experience than the previous reviewer--but we also had different circumstances. We have an older family home where the floors had been neglected for years--my pops wasn't even sure if there was wood under the old carpet and linoleum. Floor Pros exposed the original douglas fir under all the old carpet and linoleum, sanded, and stained it a beautiful dark color. Their ability to turn these floors around is truly amazing. The floors were the first step in a long list of tasks that need to be done to our home. We have to paint the baseboards regardless, so the small amount of stain on the floorboards isn't a problem for us. We're thrilled with the gorgeous floors that we now have. read more
