    Refinished floors!

They did a great, thorough, and clean job - the floors look amazing! The price was reasonable and they were very responsive.

    new floor after

Floor Pros were great and could not be happier with the results. Mike came to the house for a free assessment and sent a full itemized quote the same day. Mike and his team of professionals were very accommodating and reasonable. They refinished and replaced damaged flooring upstairs and installed new flooring down stairs and it all matched wonderfully. Mike was open and transparent through the whole process and informed me of any and all changes orders before proceeding. The installation crew was very careful to tape off and cover items and areas of the house so saw dust would not be an issue later. Mike was very responsive and answered all my questions. I would recommend the Floor Pros to anyone who needs them!

Went with this company over other bids because they seemed to have a large staff and an ability to schedule soon. What was supposed to be a 3 week job turned into a month out of my home and unresolved issues. This added significant cost in storage, relocation, and delays to other improvement work in my home. The second star is for the people that actually cut the wood and laid it. They were nice and worked efficiently and took off the doors, cleaned up, etc. The nails and rough spots and very old floor we had before has a newayer on top and i am glad about that. But i am also glad most of that floor will be covered with rugs to hide its blemishes and that repainting work is coming next for our walls. But folks cycle in and out of your home randomly, with several 'work' days where no one shows up so just because one person is earnest doesn't mean the next person to show up will be. Our blinds were broken, a several hundred dollar fix that will take weeks to repair because custom sized window shades have to be ordered. The floor is unevenly sanded and stained, each time they come back it looks worse. Particularly the rippling. There is stain everywhere - i am talking walls, trim, light fixtures, doors - yes those closet and other doors that were taken off for install of the hardwood were reattached (in the case of my kitchen door, poorly the bottom hinge wasn't even screwed in) before sanding and staining so those doors are now very beat up along the bottom. My brother came over to look and said, they'll be back, no one would leave work like this but nope, no idea when we can get our keys back and I know my spouse is over the stress of how terribly this project has gone and how we are ashamed to show the work that was supposed to improve our home to our friends and family. The biggest problem area that remains is the top of the stairs, where what this needs according to these floor pros is just paint, but I think is another example of their halfbaked stain unevenly applied to the edge and left to drip down. But even more importantly, there previously was a large piece of molding that ran underneath the top stair that they removed and I think it again needs a piece of wood to cover the literal subfloor you can now see post installation. Avoid the headache, pick someone who doesn't cycle through workers and will be on-site themselves the whole job, even if they are a smaller operation, their extra day or two of quoted time would have saved me a lot of time.

a hardwood floor in a home

Second time we've had our floors refinished and the difference was night and day! Floor Pros had a reasonable rate, did an excellent job on our exotic hardwood floors, finished on time and even kept the dust and dirt in our kitchen to a minimum. (Versus Sunshine who totally botched the job, took two weeks longer than promised, and left the house and walls a total wreck). Mark was terrific and easy to work with. I couldn't sing his/their praises any louder.

Very responsive and their crew chief was excellent. He went out of his way to offer advice on the right stain color and seal coat. I had a tight schedule and they met it.

Our job consisted of pulling up rooms of old carpet as well as an old kitchen hardwood floor, and replacing it all with 3/4" engineered wood from a Canadian company called Mirage. Elite's quote for materials and labor was not the most expensive nor the least, but when going through our house, Aleksey thought of questions, spotted issues, AND thought of solutions that no one else had asked about or even noticed. He was also the only one who told us that he could carefully remove our elaborate wooden baseboards without breaking most or all of them. Every other place simply said we would likely need to replace it all. As a result, their pricing was actually lower than anyone else if you take into account the cost we saved by not having to replace one single piece of baseboard. He was meticulous, measuring three times before ordering materials just to make sure he got the numbers right. Installation went smoothly and included work like grinding down areas of our foundation that were not smooth, moisture testing, coating of the slab with a moisture barrier, etc. They also made sure they installed the wood in a manner that will allow the kitchen appliances to be removed without damaging the floor, when the time comes that they need to be replaced. Again, no one else we spoke with even mentioned any of this. There were transitions between floorings of some rooms that were at different heights. For some of the areas, Aleksey did not care for the off the shelf transitions that companies sell. Instead, he and his crew crafted their own transition pieces & thresholds that looked beautiful and did the job. Far more elegant and unintrusive. They did the same for the transitions between stone surrounding fireplaces and one bathroom. Everything was carefully thought through. The guys showed up at 8 AM and sometimes worked until 5 or 6 pm if they were trying to get certain things done. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Communication with Aleksey was always good. Elite Hardwood & Flooring is not simply an installation company. They are craftsmen that take a great deal of pride in their work and the results show it. We could not be happier with the job they did and highly recommend them. I originally was just looking for flooring at KZ but Bailey made us feel so comfortable we ended up getting pretty much everything here. One stop shop to save time and energy . I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.
