I'm pretty furious. I trusted them with an expensive shag rug after numerous calls / texts about ensuring that they could handle the job; using organic wash and taking super care of it, not to pull it, or discolor it. They returned is about 10 days later and it went from a white shag rug to a yellow. I've called numerous times and texted to try to remedy this offline but the owner has not replied thus I'm here warning you. Photos attached of the before/after. Pak Oriental Rug did a great job cleaning two wool/silk blend rugs for me recently. They made it super easy to pick up in Marin and deliver to an address in SF, and both rugs look fantastic. They may not be the cheapest, but the service is excellent and the work stellar. They also made a new pad for one of the rugs, it was a good idea to start all fresh as over time the pads get to be not so good - the one we had was about 15 years old. I chose about a half dozen rugs to view from the easy-to-search web site. He treated me with great courtesy, patiently laying them out ahead of my visit, letting me take hours to decide. I went to Pak Oriental Rugs to replace a kilim I'd lost in March to carpet moths. Talking with Anjum made me realize that his artisans could have saved it. Would give 6 stars if we could to Hassan, his brother, and their staff for this family owned business. My wife and I were in the market for an upgrade to our not-so-adult synthetic rug which had seen better days. Not knowing much about handmade rugs, finer rugs, etc, we decided to trust yelp to help us start our search. There's a reason these guys are so highly rated! From the moment we walked in to their showroom they treated us with patience and were exceptionally courteous. Hassan was very honest about the pricing and was willing to work with us with within our budget when I mentioned it to find us something we absolutely loved. The next thing I know, he had already booked a time to come to our house and allow us to see a few of the rugs we liked in the showroom on our actual living room floor to see if we still liked them. What amazing customer service...and all of this without the promise of a sale yet! Needless to say that after today, Hassan made a sale and lifelong customers from us. He was knowledgeable, not pushy, really wanted us to be well-informed, and most importantly, he wanted to make sure we really loved our purchase. My wife and I have twice purchased rugs from Pak Oriental Rugs--both times uniformly excellent experiences, first with proprietor Anjum in 2001, and then again with Anjum and his son Ahmed in 2011. In 2001, we went to see Anjum to buy a rugs for our Victorian flat in Lower Pacific Heights/Western Addition. We had already purchased furniture for the apartment and were looking for two rugs in a traditional oriental style to tie the rooms together. We were never really able to find the right pieces on our own. Enter Anjum, armed with fabric swatches from our sofas and ottomans, who made a number of recommendations which were spot on and that still look marvelous in our home a decade later. Fast forward to 2011 where we were looking for a couple of large format (10x14) rugs, oriental style, for a house in Marin and a second home in Tahoe. Again we walked into Pak with swatches from our furniture and coffee tables. After looking at photos of the interior of the houses and analyzing the swatches, Anjum once again recommended a number of wonderful pieces for us to consider. Our positive experience with Pak could have ended there but did not. Pak allowed us to test 5-6 of their rugs at home, both in Marin and Tahoe, until we found the perfect fit. Anjum and Ahmed worked with us on budget, with the result that we wound up with excellent quality rugs at fair prices. Once we made our decisions, Pak sent their team of rug installers to our house to put the pieces down as we wanted them (if you have never tried to install a 10x14 rug under a queen-sized bed with two nightstands, let me assure you that this is a very valuable service). Wow, talk about life savers! Magenta ink spilled on a very expensive 12' x 4' cream and grey handmade special order 100% wild silk rug. I was beyond frantic and called Pak Oriental Rug. They were closed for the night but the following day, they phoned me, came to the house and took the rug away immediately. While it was being cleaned and repaired Anjum would phone me to let me know the progress and assure me that all was going to be okay. He was very thorough, very professional, very straight forward. The rug was cleaned/repaired perfectly, you cannot even tell there was anything ever spilled on it! I couldn't believe the beauty and richness of the rugs that Pak Oriental Rugs restored! I have 6 rugs (Bokhara, Kazak, Turkmen, two Mahgran prayer rugs, and one Persian runner) that I inherited from my parents. The rugs were worn, frayed, and color-faded, some worse than others, with the Turkmen having a 10-inch diameter hole cut out (no idea how that happened). My wife felt they smelled, so I offered to get rid of them and replace them with new ones. When owner Anjum saw them, he said they were all of exceptional and unique quality, and he could repair all of them and make them look like new. When the rugs came back, they were stunning! The colors were vibrant, the designs were fresh, the edges/fringes were back, and the smell was gone. The hole was filled and it was hard to find where it had been. And the Kazak (with animals and figures that look like the spacemen found in American Indian petroglyphs), one of my favorite rugs, was extremely worn and now is like new. Unbelievable! I cannot get over how different they look, and I am so glad Anjum talked me into keeping them. The work by Pak Oriental Rugs goes far beyond "repair", but is a full "restoration". My parents would have rejoiced knowing how well I have taken care of these precious heirlooms. read more

I am still enjoying my 3 beautiful large Persian carpets I purchased from Mr Butt and his sons 25 years ago. They look as good as the day I purchased them, they are excellent quality hand and hand made. I hoped they would last my life and they will. I called two weeks ago to have the carpets cleaned, they took them away the very next morning. I am happy having a carpet company I feel I have been able to trust, who know what they are doing without feeling like I am being taken to the cleaners myself.
