The manager was happy to provide a qualified quote over the phone, and offered to look at it that day if I could bring it in. I am going out of my way to specifically write a bad review for this business. I pulled into to a auto park with 7 different garages all sharing one lot. The parking spot was reserved for Absolut. I have never been to this location and assumed all the garages belong to the same group. I went to the garage I could find with a visible state inspection sign. After I left to move my car, a guy from Absolut came out and said, "you better move your F*ing car, I was about to tow it" So I said that I assumed they were all part of the same business. He told me that " I had better learn to F*ing read" I asked "well do you guys do state inspections?". Place was sold last year to Julio, who seems just as good as Danny - great service, fair price, and very helpful. Updating my review due to new ownership. Back story...I found this place through "Click n Clack" after a fraudulent inspection by Goodyear (failed brakes that weren't actually bad). Danny (the prior owner) noted that his mechanics are on salary, and many places (like Goodyear) have their folks on commission which drives the wrong behavior. Believe it or not, I heard about this place through my wife. She's always the one online looking for "reviews" and "deals", I used to be " awe lets just go to the dealer" to fix everything kind of guy. She went here a few times for some basic repairs on her BMW X3 when the dealer wanted to charge an arm and a leg for some basic maintenance. They were really great with scheduling and customer service. The head mechanic and owner took time to talk to us and help us understand what the problem was and what options we had. They made us feel very comfortable and confident in their abilities. Also what they charged for parts and labor were a fraction of what the dealer wanted. I was sold, I needed some work on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and I decided to give these guys a try for myself. I wanted to add a lift and got a quote from my dealer first, Absolut did it for about a third of the cost and in less than half the time! Since then I went back to the dealer to do an oil change and was very disappointed at how long it took and then the insane amount of pressure and intimidation they use to try and up sell you. They tell you that your car is basically a death trap unless you let them replace your breaks, flush your transmission, change all your fluids or fix your engine. I couldn't take it anymore. So now for all our car needs we go to these guys. If you have a question just call them and talk to Danny or Todd or any of those guys and you will immediately understand. I've never been pressured to do anything from these guys and they always give me options. I've even asked them to order something for me that I realized I didn't need later, I called them back and they fixed it, no guilt and no problem. RESPECT these guys a lot. i was trying to change my spark plugs and was afraid I was going to break them. I purchased the spark plugs and took them to replace for me. They called me and said the plugs I had were not strong enough for my truck. They gave me a list of options to select from. I am thankful that they were honest with me. He quoted $50-100, when I got there, he changed his price to $200 and give me some b.s. about my pipe welds is rusted. Don't goto him. Not honest and shady!!! I had been utilizing Absolute Auto Works for over 4 years, after been given a strong recommendation by my grown son. Julio had taken over the business about 4 years ago and every a need occurs for my Honda Civic, Julio comes thru with the service required and at a fair price. After my Honda warranty ended, my visits to a local Honda dealer ended up with more issues than I had perceived. Four years ago, I noted all the maintenance issues that "needed attention right now" and took the list to Julio and he said that only 3 minor issues out of the 6 or 7 the Honda dealer noted were necessary. 2 others would be addressed when the periodic milage service was recommended. Julio and Absolute have saved me a lot of money. Car dealerships now are likely owned by out of state corporations who offer comfortable waiting rooms and a pleasant staff but I have found they frequently find " needed repairs" that do not exist. I am only too glad to give Absolute ***** yes 5 stars for their outstanding service on my Honda that sees my ownership going WAY beyond my car loan. read more

These guys had good reviews on several places but frankly I was disappointed. They quoted me over 300 total to repair/diagnose an oxygen sensor and charged to read the diagnostic code. I ordered the part from Majestic Honda (great prices if you know the part you need) and it took just 30 minutes for me to install it. If you have a good relationship with them, they're probably fine. I was very disappointed though coming in as a new customer. EDIT: It's very interesting to see how many "filtered reviews" this shop has. Yelp applies heuristics to guess which reviews should not be displayed. Some "real" ones slip through the cracks but it does catch a fair amount of "fake" reviews by employees and owners read more

I only discovered this shop after I lived in Reston for a few years and went to the local shops there where I was cheated time and time again. I've been using this business for more than 10 years. They changed ownership a year or so ago, and if anything they have improved. They stick to their estimates, have a reasonable labor rate lower than many other shops in the area, and are honest about what needs repair now and what to plan for in the future. This past Saturday morning I went to get my rear brakes changed. Unbelievable how fast they were to get me in and out on a busy Saturday morning. Less then 40 minutes I was in and out while others were lounging around waiting on their repairs. I had a radiator hose go out on me last summer and chose these guys over a bigger shop on 606, have some negative experience with the other shop. I was quoted parts and labor, everything was normal and par for the course with any other shop in N.VA. While we waited for the parts to arrive I spoke with the owner, Dan. Very approachable and friendly person. When my parts arrived Dan and another technician inspected the parts and one of the hoses had a bubble in it, they told the delivery driver to take it back and tell his boss it is not an acceptable hose. The second delivery had a better result. I liked the fact that they were looking out for me and did not allow a questionable part to be installed on my car. When the change out was complete I got to see all my old parts (opted to change all hoses). More recently I went in for another repair (right front wheel hub). I was invited into the shop to take a look at the problem and they gave me my options. I had the part replaced and I was on my way in under 90 minutes, with much of that time waiting for the delivery of the part. I recommend Absolut Autoworks. This shop has been a pleasant experience on both occasions and I will be back in the future. read more

Hands down, Absolut is the best auto shop I've ever used! I found them in Washington Checkbook (they received the highest price/service ratings) so I took my car there for it's routine maintenance and was presently surprised by the service and the cost.....much less expensive than going to the dealership, of course, and also much less expensive that I was paying for routine maintenance at my former auto shop. The owner (I think is name is Todd) is super friendly and so is his wife, who works in the back office. I never feel like I'm getting scammed when I go here....and I'm a girl that knows absolutely nothing about cars....other than to get oil changes and follow the maintenance schedule in my handbook. The one time I did have something unscheduled go wrong w/my car (it turned out to be the muffler) I took it over and they took it for a quick test drive and immediately diagnosed the problem. They also fixed it same day for me....although this may have been a stroke of luck as they do tend to get busy and I normally need an appt. The only downside is that they aren't open weekends, but you can drop your car off on Sundays and put your key in the dropbox and they'll call you for pickup when your car is ready. read more

Glad I found this spot. Honest staff that does quality work at a price that seems to beat or match other local shops. I had a an oxygen sensor replaced after being told by the dealership I would need to replace the entire exhaust because the sensor was "cross threaded" into muffler. This shop looked at it and confirmed the dealership was wrong and was able to remove the oxygen sensor without a problem. They simply replaced the sensor and was even able to locate and get sensor for my Hyundai the same day. Highly recommend this shop to anyone who wants a honest assessment of a check engine light. The price for this job was on average of what it would be for a repair shop in the area and A LOT cheaper than Fairfax Hyundai, who completely misdiagnosed the seriousness of the issue by stating the sensor was not able to be replaced without the full replacement of the exhaust system. Thanks for confirming my suspicion of the sketchy work that is done by Fairfax Hyundai and also pointing out the oil leak that was also a result from Fairfax Hyundai's incompetence in changing oil in a Hyundai. read more
