Perhaps something happened recently in the kitchen that caused my recent meal to be less than I hoped for. Maybe the cook who made the food with the great reviews is on a leave of some sort. What they are serving now is very sub par. I would rather have a smaller selection of really great food than a large selection of sub par food. Stop with the attempt to serve items like pickled veggies (they were awful) and maybe switch to more of a bar food menu. Even the side dish of fruit tasted off putting. Our waitress was attentive. Our 1st time here. Nice place, typical golf course dining room. Prime rib was just ok in that the meat and au jus were both not barely warm. Also, meat was not as tender we' hoped. The new menu is great! Went for lunch and Wendi and Carey were awesome. They ran their asses off! No additional help so service was a bit slow but we were ok with that as the food was hot and delicious. Why can't management spend the additional couple of bucks and get a busser or something to take the pressure off? The best Prime Rib in the area!! First class place all around! Great service, ambience, food, drinks, dessert! We had the Saturday Special Prime Rib! Served with broccolini and garlic potatoes! I don't care for garlic, so, l skipped the potatoes and asked for Extra broccolini, so yummy! My friend said the potatoes were good. We had several drinks from the bar, well done. Food was good a month ago. Went back with some friends and the food was absolutely disgusting. Half of it was cold, the salad was wilted and tasteless. The cheese on the nachos wasn't even melted and the chips were burnt. So sad to see a place go down hill so fast. It's almost like the kitchen staff doesn't care or they are in over their heads. We come here often we usually get very good service and the food is usually very good. however this was not the best night we've ever experienced. The bar was crowded and noisy with loud music. We sat in the dining room and of course the view was fabulous! My husband owned a restaurant for 20 years, so we were shocked at what occurred. We walked in for dinner and the place was 1/2 full, with most of the table not set up. The hostess asked if we had reservations. We told her we did not. She turned, conferred for a minute with someone, and rudely said she couldn't serve us. Had she smiled and said she was sorry they were booked for the evening, we would have been fine. My husband would have fired such a person. We will never return there. read more

This is a newly reopened grill. The menu is limited. But the food is excellent. I've eaten there every week since the reopen, because we live close by. Beverages are good. Price is okay. We really like this place and have been here many times. Prices are reasonable. Actually they're really good on just getting a small salad -- both the ceasar and cobb are quite good and added to a hamburger you're still well under 10 bucks. Last night, our ladies choir from our Green Valley Church made a reservation for 15 people at 5pm for dinner. It was acknowledged by the restaurant but when we arrived, we were informed that the Abrego Grill is not open in Monday nights. After scrambling around, we were accommodated quite graciously by the Coyote Grill at San Ignacio. Thanks for screwing up Abrego Grill..... you lost a very large sale and probably quite a few potential customers who will think twice before choosing to eat there. We were here twice. The first time we stopped in to look around before they opened. We met the manager who was very gracious and let us look around. There is a nice view of the mountains from the dining room and the patio. We had guests from out of town and was a little leery of taking them there as we have never eaten there before. The staff was very friendly and the food was above average. I had the Abrego pasta that I loved. Two people in our party had the Reuben and they said it was great. The waitress or hostess, agreed to take a pic of our party and suggested we step outside for a better view of the mountains for a backdrop. Hubby had the beer battered cod and the fish was mushy and batter too bready. The grilled cod was tasteless, coleslaw was not any better, the tartar sauce was like what I would make as a kid - mayonnaise with pickle relish.....so not exactly top of the line. This could jump to 5 stars with just a few adjustments. The reason I didn't give it more than 3 is due to the food; its not great. It's not 'bad', but it's pretty tasteless. Bland. Presentation is also weak. When you ask for hot sauce, you have to ask 2 or 3 times - it's like they don't want to give it to you. When you ask for some mustard or mayo it comes in a little plastic cup with very little in it. Cheap. I had chips and queso and the cheese was completely sans any flavor whatsoever. I asked for some extra Pico and told the wait person to charge me whatever she needed to charge, but it was a waste of breath because I never got any. Its a nice facility, the folks working were pleasant and friendly and the prices were okay, but as I say, bland and boring food is the fare. Gave this place 2 tries. The first time we went service was really slow, fish and chips were good with generous portions. Went a second time, better service but really skimpy on the fish. Very small pieces, one of our friends had the blackened fish and the piece was only 1 inch in diameter. If it is all you can eat then, heck bring on the fish. Was there recently in the mid-afternoon, after the lunch crowd was gone. There was one other occupied table, and a few people sitting at the bar. Most, if not all, the tables in the lower section had not been cleared, even though the other diners had already been served. Don't rely on the website menu to decide if you want to eat there. Only about 1/2 the items on the menu were available. Service was extremely slow - I ordered a salad, and the other person ordered a BLT. We waited nearly 30 minutes to get our food, and nothing had to be cooked. We had to ask for the check, and then waited at least another 10 minutes to get it. In the time between our arrival and asking for the check, no new customers came in - there was no excuse for having to wait that long for mediocre food. What was really annoying is that while we were waiting, the staff was hanging out in the kitchen gabbing, instead of taking care of customers. We won't be going back. read more

My husband and I have eaten here many times and almost always had good food and service. I suggested Abrego Grill for a ladies lunch group. Imagine my embarrassment when it took forever to get our meals. One lady told the server she had to be at a doctor's office at 1 pm and would appreciate getting her meal as soon as possible. We got there at 11:30 and orders were taken at 11:45. Our meals were sitting up near the kitchen so at 12:30, she went up and got her meal so she could eat and make the doctor appointment. A few minutes later, we all got our meals. Many of the hot meals were cold by then. One lady said her burger would have been good if it had been warm or hot. At the end of the meal, almost everyone said "We won't be back". That is a shame. Maybe they can't handle larger groups. I am sure my husband and I will be back, but the group won't. read more

This was a terribly disappointing experience. We sat outside thinking it was a beautiful evening only to find that the advertised heaters didn't work. We waited for close to thirty minutes before a server arrived to take drink orders and our meal orders. Our appetizers came, but just a few minutes after that, our meals arrived, and one of the servers removed my soup before I was done and without asking me!?! None of the meals were served hot, but my wife's fish was cooked to her liking and her father liked his meal. Mine was wrong, but no one ever returned to see how things were. A bus boy took the wrong dish away. There was a computer issue that prevented a timely exit. In order to get our check we needed to go back to the hostess desk and recite our order to her and after another twenty minutes finally could pay for this mess. Save yourself the heartache and skip this place. They won't notice. read more

Nice to see the refreshed interior and new menu at this restaurant. Really good variety in both the lunch and dinner menu. Had one of the burgers at lunch. Fresh hand made burger with really great fries. My wife and I had dinner there tonight. She has an incredible pork shank and I had pesto crusted salmon. Probably the best salmon I have had in AZ since I left the CA coast. Very charming staff. Very attentive without being annoying. Would highly recommend to anyone. As good as any dinner/service you would get by driving to Tucson for a meal. The price for the quality and quantity of food is right. Don't believe the nonsense from the cheap retirees and snowbirds about the food being overpriced and just average. It is nice to have someone who is willing to run a restaurant focusing on a variety of higher quality food and more creative meals. read more

We went last evening and all three of us would have returned our meals but we try not to make waves in a restaurant. Two of us were relieved of our meals shortly after arriving home. The service was adequate and friendly but the food last evening was severely lacking. The sauce covering one dish was simply overpowering and enough to cover three or more dishes. The use of zuchinni (on my hate list) was so abundant on all three meals that you might figure the garden was overflowing with these squash. This was our first visit since they reopened as we have been going there for many years with uneven results but usually wavering on the good side and sometimes even much better. After arriving in Green Valley for a winter vacation, we visited the Torres Blancas golf club and decided to have lunch in their restaurant. My hamburger was cooked exactly as I requested, and the tomato slice was pretty decent, which is not often the case in winter. I tried their homemade potato chips, which were not salted and a bit overfilled. My wife thought her grilled chicken salad was ok. The price was right for the quality of the food. Most websites are showing abrego grill as closed but that is not the case I just learned! I received an email last week about the specials being offered and decided to try the fish fry. I had beer battered cod which I have to admit was one of the best I've had in green valley. My guest had her cod sautéed in a garlic butter sauce which she also enjoyed a lot. The server also offered the fish to be grilled. It's served with French fries and coleslaw. I was impressed with the coleslaw because it wasn't soggy like you get in most places.
