Dang it - It's really distasteful to have to write a negative review but once in a while it is good for folks be aware of issues. I do enjoy their pizza generally - New York style. Recent price changes are dramatic - a SINGLE SLICE and a drink is not almost $10 out the door. AND I'm certain the slices have gotten smaller - Used to be two huge slices and a drink at lunch for a reasonable amount. The hastily taped on price increases on the wall show a $6 increase in a large cheese pizza to almost $24 as well. For single slice of about $5.50 - I'm guessing 10-12 pieces per pizza they essentially are wanting $55-$60 equivalent - sorry that is just robbery. On the most recent trip I asked for it crispy - while the folks are nice they just are not attentive - hard to drag them off their phones and did not get what I ordered. Two mediocre slices for $10. One slice was cheese, the other had olives. Full reveal - I moved to Boulder recently after decades in NYC. NYC pizza is superior - not only in taste but in price. A slice in NYC is $3 tops. Why is it almost $5 in Boulder? When I walked into Abo's I was surprised at the lack of visuals. No pizzas on display to get you inspired and get your mouth watering. Not even pizza ideas, aka a menu. Enter a NYC pizza joint and you'll gaze at a counter top of large pies - regular, pepperoni, white, buffalo chicken, pineapple and bacon, and usually something with mushrooms and spinach. You look at all the variety and pick your slice (or two or three). At Abo's there wasn't even a menu. Just a sign on the wall that had prices and a list of toppings. Cmon. Imagine going to a restaurant that didn't have a menu but only had a list of ingredients. The olives on my slice tumbled onto the table when I took a bite. So lemme get this straight. They take a tepid old slice, sprinkle the stale toppings onto it and heat it up for a few minutes. Then charge me $5. Also the crust was bland. I miss New York. read more

I'll will start out by saying the pizza was very good! However the blond haired bearded young man behind register was very rude and when I tried to ask questions about what was on a pizza and he would only talk to my husband and would not acknowledge me. I asked 3 times with no response from him. We dined in and he yelled at my husband that pizza was ready and was pissy when we asked for plates. It doesn't cost a dime to be nice and and walking a pizza out to table would have been the more appropriate thing to do than yelling at a custome. Everyone else working there was great!! I was craving pizza and recently moved to the area, so I tried Abos. I ordered through GrubHub. As you might expect, the pizza arrived at a cooler temperature than one would want. It was a decent pizza. Certainly not what everyone describes as New York pizza. (if you've been to New York, you know this isn't even close.) that said, I hate it, and I wouldn't be opposed to ordering again if there was nothing else available. I don't know that I would recommend it so much as say that if you really must have pizza, this will do the trick. read more

I have had many slices of Abo's pizza in my life. That being said, this was my first visit to this particular location. They have lunch specials (2 slices and a drink) from about $7-10 depending on your toppings. At noon on a Weds it wasn't too busy, although the parking lot is a nightmare. I ordered 2 slices of Pep, and an iced tea. Pizza came out quick, it was hot, but limp and very greasy. I like my pizza crispy, so I probably should've mentioned that, but like I said, I've been to other locations, and they seem to get it right without asking. Taste was good, I love their sauce. I'll probably give it another try, but I'll definitely ask for crispy crust. Staff was friendly, the guy taking orders seemed to also be training the kitchen crew at the same time, but they were knocking out orders quickly. read more

Honestly, the only bummer about Abo's is that isn't in a more walkable location. This is one of those pizza spots that gives me that super nostalgic vibe of pizza night with family as a kid. The semi mixed reviews kept it from being high on my list to try, but I really like the flavor of their sauce, as well as their crust (I'm a crust snob)- thin but non-crackery. Usually love their pizza but my boyfriend and I shared one on Friday night around 930 that got us both sick. It was the only food we shared for a couple days (we thought of everything) and we were super sick for 2.5 days from early morning Sunday, til we started feeling better today. We called to let them know and only got a reassurance that their ovens were set at the right temp the day we ordered our pizza....which I don't doubt. 5 stars (for Boulder). Let's be honest-Boulder does not have great pizza. For any east coast transplants like myself, it will never compare. But, for me, this comes the closest to simple NY style pizza, good for enjoying while watching a game. It has the right ratio of sauce to cheese, a pretty good tasting crust, and it is always consistent-so you know what you're getting. While I love a plain cheese pie, I also really like a cheese pizza topped with garlic and feta from here. read more

The worst service ever. Ordered a pizza over the phone they said 20 minutes. Arrived in 20 not a soul in the place and the pizza had not even been started. Then it's finished and they made a basic pizza wrong and had to start the long process all over. Morons working there and the pizza wasn't even average tasting. So delicious!!! 2 slices of pepperoni with extra cheese and a sprite. First off the syrup mixture on the fountain sprite is PERFECT. Very syrupy! I order from Abo's pretty regularly as they are near and I dont have many choices for decent pizza. It is hit or miss to get a pizza in less than 40 minutes and about 1/2 the time it isn't very hot. I wish they would improve their delivery process. read more

Damn it, Abo's. My partner and I are about to move to the south side of Boulder and will have to switch up our Abo's location. SAY IT AIN'T SO! This breaks my heart above all else because the staff at this location are awesome. From the time that we first tap our phones to when a pizza arrives at our door, it's roughly 20-25 minutes. The pizza lands on our table, still super hot from the oven. Whether we are picking up the pizzas ourselves or calling in for delivery, food is always ready exactly as promised. Service is always on point. It's clear that the staff are good at what they do, and especially good at doing it quickly. Time really matters in the world of pizza. We used to load our orders up with toppings - which is usually a beautiful mess of flavors. But recently, we opted for a plain cheese pizza... and that's when we realized that even their sauce/cheese combo is unbeatable unto itself. We will enthusiastically order our pies from the South Boulder location (and even online, since online ordering is available at that location) but we will always have a soft spot for the Iris Ave. location. As a recent transplant (like most people in Boulder), I've learned that there really isn't great pizza in Boulder. or in Denver. Or, really, anyplace other than the northeast. Out west, the pizza is OK. Abos is as good as it gets. It's the best pizza I've eaten since I've lived here. I guess it's kinda pricey, and they have (to me) strange hours, and sometimes it takes them a long time to make a pizza, and once in a while it's a bad pizza. But generally, the pizza is pretty good. In New York, I'd probably give this a 2, or 3, tops. But in Boulder, it gets a 4. Thanks for having decent pizza, Abos. read more

Abo's Pizza has a great atmosphere and definitely belongs in Boulder! I ordered a slice of feta and sun dried tomatoes which was delicious and Garlic knots. The Garlic knots come with a yummy marinara sauce and they are ONLY $1!!! The pizza was HUGE. My only complaint is that it should come with a bigger plate :P read more
