This nail salon is near where I live, prices are reasonable and the ladies are friendly. After going several times to this salon I've finally found the mail tech I like and have stuck with her. I'm order to have "V" I need to make an appointment which is usually for me Sunday's. V is so nice and gentle with my hands, does a good job and I leave happy with the end results. Pedicures I'm ok with the other ladies helping me. Often the ladies will double team and work on hands and feet at the same time and I'm ok with that too. read more

This review is specifically about the salon manager, Linda. (I've always had pleasant service with all the other ladies). I would personally give Linda "0" stars if I could. But, unfortunately, that is not an option. I came in today for a gel manicure and pedicure. In fact , I'm still here as I'm posting this review. As I was a walk-in, Linda agreed to start with my manicure. She proceeds to take off the existing gel. Then cuts and files my nails. I then look at one hand, as she is finished cutting and filing and she was proceeding with the other hand, and commented that the nails are different lengths with the middle finger being much shorter than I wanted. Immediately off the bat, she acted completely offended and wouldn't even look at my hand to see what I was talking about. She kept looking about the room and speaking in her native language and slammed one of her nail tools on the table and then insisted all the nails were the same length. I kept trying to get her to actually look at my nails. When she finally did, she said someone else would have to help me. When I called her out on her inappropriate and unprofessional behavior and action, she said she was not going to help me as I "don't like" her. I reminded her that I've been to this salon several times over the last year and this is the only time I've ever been treated in such a manner. Nu ended up doing my manicure and was able to fix the mess that Linda left. I'm typing this up as I'm in the massage chair receiving an amazing pedicure from Susan. Susan is always so pleasant to deal with...kudos to Susan. Linda could learn a thing or two from her!! Again...my 1 star review is strictly for LINDA!! read more

It's already very uncomfortable trying a new place and even harder when the staff is not welcoming. I went in and asked for a simple French tip which I feel like anybody with a license should be able to do. But if a customer asks for something you don't feel like you could do just tell them so they have the option to choose something else. Listen, I'm one of the most supportive for local ma and pa businesses, but after coming here... my trust has gone down immensely. My tech looked puzzled once I walked in, and not only that, she got even more pissed when I said I wasn't Vietnamese. Red flag there. Ambiance just wasn't welcoming all around. The only thing decent was my pedicure, but lord the moment when this woman started working on my hands... instant regret. I've been trying to grow my nails and build its health back up, however she really just ruined everything for me. My nails grew long enough but this woman, instead of soaking my gel, she fucking takes the acrylic extensions and imbedded them to take my gels off. Dude, I'm literally livid as hell. But I respectfully told her I just want my nails removed. Never again. You're honestly better off getting your nails done at Kitchen Nail Bar. However, lemme hold off for another month before going there because I'm embarrassed of how shitty my nails look. I've been going to Aborn nails for 5ish years now, and I should've stopped going earlier because they've never been friendly, but the proximity is convenient. Also, quality is pretty bad. My nail beds were all torn up and the sides of my nails were not painted. The only thing is that they are more affordable compared to other bay area salons. Today, they asked me to wait for 10 minutes, ended up being 25 minutes which is OK. But when I asked for there to be no further delays on top of that, the owner of the store kept asking me why I was in a rush which was odd but it's fine. That's not the worst thing in the world. Later on, when they got to me, I see the manicurist wrapping up someone else's pedicure and she was not wearing gloves. Right after, she grabbed her cart and then started on my nails without washing her hands or anything. I tried to let it slide but I got the ick so badly and I asked her to put on gloves or wash her hands. She couldn't hear me well because she didn't speak english so instead, another customer started laughing LIKE CRAZY with her own manicurist and joking saying things like "hahaha this girl wants her manicurist to wear gloves, its going to be a long day." And at this point there were three people joking about my simple request (two manicurists and one customer), making me feel so little. So un-hygenic and so rude. Also, I don't really blame the lady for not wearing gloves, I understand in a rush, you can forget things, but also don't make me feel like an idiot for requesting something so basic. I'm so disappointed in this place. I've been coming here for years. They did such a bad job though this time. I ended up going home, refiling all my nails and picking off all the polish that had gotten on my cuticles and skin around my nail. I asked for a brown French tip. It looked awful and even, so I asked her to paint the full nail. She refused to take off the previous pink coat and painted on top of it. Too many coats made it look thick on certain parts of the nail and the shape looked even worse. She then made all the nails incredibly uneven and didn't file them well. She painted them unevenly. She missed the sides of my nail completely. I asked if she could add a shimmer so that I could hide the parts painted unevenly. She said I could only do the shimmer with the white nail polish. Definitely won't be back here unless I'm in a bind. I'm so disappointed. I used to love coming here but unless certain people are available, it's not worth coming. Their standards of what's acceptable have dropped. read more

I needed a quick gel removal around 6:30pm and most places around me were closing or closed. I called and they said I can come in. The older woman helped me to remove my nails. The service was ok. I did a walk in & called before I came in to see how long the wait was & they said "no wait" but when I got there I had to wait 10 mins. When I entered the area where the building was there was a man outside from another business that yelled at me to not enter in through the only way that was available due to construction. It took them about 1.5 hours to do my nails which were zebra with gems, which isn't bad & they took their time to color match with the photo that I brought them. When the tech filed down the nails however, she filed down my skin next to my nails & it hurt. The nails were cheap as well which was great at the time, but when I tried to remove them I discovered that they use the cheap & bad products for acrylics. This product ruined my nails. You can look up on tik tok what I'm talking about, but I don't think it was worth $55 to ruin my nails. read more

I've been to this salon a handful of times in the past few years for basic pedicures, and I liked how relaxed and unpretentious the vibe was. Unfortunately, when I came in for a pedicure a few days ago the place seemed way less focused on hygiene than in the past, and the nail tech trimmed the side cuticles of a few of my toenails too deep which caused a nasty infection in my big toenail. I always make an appointment for young lady named Nu (spelling?). I think she is the best ever. I have ingrown toenail issues because I do a lot of cardio and she is awesome at removing them. She has a special technique that I have never seen another manicurist/pedicurist perform before. It is completely painless and the pedicure lasts for a long time. It is really quite amazing. This is my go to place for pedicures. All the women are kind and take their time to do a thorough job, included with the pedicure is a leg and foot massage, foot scrub, and moisturizer treatment! I really liked the service here! Linda did my manicure and I am absolutely in love. I showed her the picture of what I wanted and she definitely delivered. I also had a nice time talking to her as well. She's very careful and precise. Ann did my pedicure for me and it also came out really nice. The spa pedicure comes with a sugar scrub which is really nice btw. My feet were also really gross and calloused from hiking and playing basketball, so she took care of that for me. This salon is not glamorous and not located in a bougie shopping center... but it's a gem! The ladies that work here might not speak the best English, but they are so sweet. Customer service is great. The salon itself is very open and always clean. Someone will greet you as soon as you walk in to ask what service you would like. I've come here so many times and rarely have to wait very long. Walk-ins are fine for quick services like waxing. For longer services like nails, especially on busy days like Friday-Sunday or evenings, I would recommend calling and making an appointment. However, if you're not picky about who does your nails (like I am), then walk-ins work here too! I usually come here for eyebrow waxing and gel manicures. My go-to person is Kim. She's amazing! She's such a sweetheart and she has always done a flawless job with my eyebrows. She is very considerate with any of my concerns (e.g, spots that are not growing well and should be avoided). As for manicures, she's so efficient and detail-oriented, and I'm a perfectionist, so that's saying a lot! She's great to converse with as well. This place is a truly a gem and located just a few minutes away from my house! I needed a place to make my nails presentable for an upcoming interview and I remembered that my mom recommended the place to me as a cheap and great place to get a mani/pedi. I just opted for a shellac French tip manicure since it's still winter and I'm not wearing any open-toed shoes for a while. In the summertime I'll think of the mani/pedi. This place doesn't really have a designated paying area so it may be somewhat of a confusing system if it's your first time here and I also paid in cash. I didn't get the name of the woman who did my nails but these ladies don't talk behind your back and try to get your nails to your preference. She was really detailed with my French tip.
