    Buffet

The interior is big bright and inviting and easy to navigate. I was greeted immediately upon walking through the door. I set my things down and went straight to the buffet and tried everything except the fish curry. I must say I'm not the biggest mutton fan but theirs had to be the best I've ever had. Their butter chicken, which is usually my favorite, was good but the sweetest I've had as well as the paneer. All in all, this has been the best Indian buffet I've been to those far. They had more options than any other buffet I've been too and their service is impeccable. My cup was NEVER empty of water, the attentiveness was truly amazing. I use a lot of napkins and they took notice and made sure to give me extra. Everyone here was so polite and the service is some of the best I've ever had anywhere; not to mention, the lunch buffet is everyday and it's only 17 dollars. You can't beat it and I will definitely come back. I ended my experience with dessert of course and their take on what I would call a sort of rice pudding/soup was so good. I ordered chai (delicious even without sugar) which took 10 minutes to arrive because they make it fresh. I would recommend this please to anyone who likes Indian cuisine.

First plate- I loved everything except for the bell pepper fritter thing.

Checked Abhiruchi out for their weekday lunch buffet special! Monday-Friday 11:30am-2:30pm, note: they close at 2:30 and reopen for dinner at 5pm daily. It was very delicious! It's a small buffet, but it's honestly the perfect size for what we were looking for. Everything is clearly labeled and it was very clean! They switch out some of the options - the first time we went they had butter chicken, the second time they had chicken tikka masala. Both times they had vegetable biryani, tandoori chicken and a few other staples. Food was so yummy! They have a fridge with drinks (sodas, mango lassi) and they also offer beer and wine. The mango lassis were $5 each and well worth it. I grabbed one to-go! The weekday lunch special is $14.95/person and the weekend lunch special is $17.95/person. Definitely a great deal either way! I want to check out their full menu for dinner because it looks great. Can't wait to be back! Thank you so much for having us!

A plate to remember! Serious contender in South Indian Regional Cuisine!

Abhiruchi opened about 6 mos. ago and what I experienced today bodes very well for them as all their buffet items where excellent. There was a preponderance of chicken items but each was cooked differently and distinctive, one from the other, impressive. Goat curry appears on some, not all buffets, this curried item was far and away one of the best I've had, just beautifully done, tender, delicious with a sauce to remember. Biryani, and several other rice dishes were equally exceptional. From appetizers, mains, to desserts this place is pushing out well prepared, deliciously spiced South Indian Cuisine that deserves your attention!

New in town of Rockyhill and wanted to try, did a take out. Ordered veg biryani, chicken biryani and cut mirchi appetizer. The cut mirchi appetizer was okay, the reason being the onions should be stuffed inside the cut mirchi and not kept outside separately. Chicken and veg biryani were good, had the perfect texture and flavor..Would definitely give it a try and continue to post as and when I order something new.

We visited Abhiruchi to check out their lunch buffet and have to say, it's a great deal! So much variety and it's all you can eat for under $20 every day. We went right when they opened on a Saturday at 12pm and everything was fresh and delicious. The meat was halal and cooked perfectly, and there were so many vegetarian options too. Everyone we encountered there was friendly, and it was immaculately clean. Great for a budget friendly, quality meal, and also a fun way to explore Indian cuisine!

My daughter and I tried the lunch buffet this past Sunday and everything, I mean everything, tasted perfect. I'm so glad we have the best Indian food in CT 5 minutes from our house. We will be here again for sure and Abhiruchi just joined our favorites rotation. The price is amazing too. The service was wonderful. Everyone was so very friendly. Come try it out, I promise you won't be disappointed!!

Finally went for the Sunday lunch buffet. It was incredible. They had a mini eggplant dish that was over the moon. Service was excellent. Prices reasonable

They start you out with a cold ice water. For my first drink, I'm having the Old Fashioned made with Four Roses Bourbon, simple syrup, a dash of bitters (2-3 for me) and garnished with an orange and a Maraschino cherry. This isn't bad. It's balanced pretty well. It could be a bit more chilled. I would recommend stirring it with a bar spoon. For an appetizer, I am trying the Sabjiplatter which is an assortment of vegetable fritters including eggplant (Bhujia's), potato, onion, spinach and cauliflower which come with tamarind and mint sauces. This is good! I love those sauces! For our second appetizer, we are having the Utsav Kebab Platter made with a blend of Tandoori kebabs, chicken tikka, chicken malai, kalmi kebab and shrimp tikka. These are good! Dip them in the sauces. They can be a bit dry. For out next appetizer, we are having the Papadum With Chutney which is toasted lentils crispy and flattened with onion chutney, tamarin and mint sauce. I love that onion chutney! For my soup, I'm having the Thakkali Rasam. This is a spicy South Indian hot and sour thin soup made with garlic, tamarind, herbs and spices. It's hot, spicy, tastes a little oily and has a few dried red pepper flosters. I love it! For my salad, I'm having the Garden Salad made with fresh cut rounds of cucumber, carrots, onions, tomato, and carrot served with Olive oil and Chat Masala. This thing is huge! I love the dressing! For my entree, I'm having the Goat Mamsun Koora which is goat meat n bone cooked on roasted coconut peanut masala with hot chilies, ginger, garlic and curry leaves. This is delicious! It's quite couch too!!For my second drink, I'm having a Proper Manhattan made with High West Double Rye, equal parts sweet and dry vermouth, a dash of bitters and garnished with a cherry. Very good! It's served in a martini glass! This is well balanced and chilled! What a great meal here!

"There's a party going on right here A celebration to last…read morethroughout the years" (Kool and the Gang) What is the English translation of the word Utsav? Would you believe "celebration, or joyous occasion"? Well, I can probably declare that celebration is the right word to describe one of the best lunch specials I've found in months. Now brace yourself, and remove all breakables from the room, when I tell you that you can get a seven course Indian feast of a lunch for just $15. Utsav has 22 lunch specials priced in tiers -$15 for vegetable or chicken, $18 for seafood, and $20 for lamb. You'll find Utsav in the Wethersfield shopping center on the Silas Deane Hwy. All of those lunch specials start with a lightly dressed refreshing salad of greens, shredded carrots, seeded half cucumber slices, and sliced red onions. Now let me tell you about the remaining six courses. Your lunch comes out on a serving tray with lots of bowls - one each for your entrée, Basmati rice, eggplant with zucchini, spinach with potato, rice kheer for dessert (a rice pudding with raisins and nuts), and a separate plate with 3 wedges of Naan bread. I wanted to try something different for my entrée, and since I didn't think I ever had Khorma before, I ordered Chicken Khorma prepared very spicy. Korma is an Indian curry cooked in a yogurt sauce with nuts and spices. There was a good amount of tender chicken cubes, and that spicy curry was wonderful. Same with the rice, bread, and the vegetables, although I did prefer the spinach with potato over the eggplant with zucchini. There was so much rice and bread that I took half of those portions home for another day. I loved everything about Utsav, from the décor to the continental professional service to the broad menu, to those incredible Lunch Specials. Five Stars for sure.

The area surrounding the Berlin, CT Home Depot plaza is developing an unusual culinary niche. There…read moreare not one, but two, sets of businesses with both a World Cuisine food market, and a separate but related restaurant in the same plaza. First there was the Tindahan City Filipino Market and its separate restaurant in the plaza they share with a Domino's. Now, in the plaza with the Super Cuts, there is an "India Foods Market" (which has been around for a while), and a separate "India Foods Restaurant" (which seems to be a few weeks old). India Foods Restaurant seems to focus on street foods such as Dosas, Chaats, Puris and Samosas. I did not notice any meat dishes, or certain entrees that have become familiar in many Indian restaurants in America. No tikka masala, korma or saag, etc. You order at the Counter. There is a small dining section. I elected to dine in. The dining room was more functional than nice. I asked for a recommendation, and the person who helped me recommended the Chole Bhatura. I didn't know what that was, but I went with it. About 10 minutes later, they brought two disposable plates. One had a large compartment of saucy chick peas, a small section of red onion and lime, and a couple chili peppers for additional heat as desired. The second plate had two large Bhatura. If you've had Puri (made with white flour), you'll know what I mean when I say Bhatura (which is made with fermented flour) looks similar to Puri. If you're not familiar with Puri, think of Bhatura as similar to puffed up, fresh out of the oven pita. However, Bhatura is cooked in oil and is lighter. They were good and looked cool. The chickpeas had good texture. The sauce was pretty good. Kind of a golden brown, with earthy mildly spicy seasoning. The red onions, chilis and lime allowed for a bit of customization. I tore the Bhatura, and used the pieces to soak up the sauce, or to make a chickpea and onion taco. A fun way to eat. I enjoyed the Chole Bhatura. I will likely return to explore more of the menu when I need a quick bite. Four Stars

There was a noodle shop right next door that was okay, and we wanted to give this new place a try as well. The inside is sparse and still rough with construction. The space use to be a açaí bowl location, and they still had some of the signs and decor from that location here. There's also some ripped up flooring and exposed piping in the middle of the floor. Don't plan on dining in unless you can handle some rough corners. The chef/owner was nice but shy, the wife was much more extroverted and very kind. The chef took the order, the wife took care of the interactions and check ins. Missus really enjoyed interfacing with the lady, she enjoys supporting the local businesses that go in with passion. We got the chicken 65, samosa chaat, and chicken khorma. Food came out steadily, and we dug in. The samosa chaat was good. Spiced lightly, but good flavor. The samosa was slightly cold in the middle, but the flavors were there. The chicken 65 was also lightly seasoned but the chicken crisp and tender. Needed a dipping sauce to impart some extra spice. The portion was large and well done. The chicken khorma was great. Tender chicken thigh with a nutty creamy sauce with a little spice. The highlight of our meal. We also got naan, garlic and peshwari. The garlic was good, very garlic forward but the naan seemed to be very thin. There was a lot of rips and holes through the 4 pieces we got. We also got the peahwari naan, which was little light on the filling but has the right flavors. Pricing was reasonable, especially given the quality vs the portion. It's not a dine-in location as of yet, but the food is perfect for to-go. It's good Indian done well, needs to work on the spice level of their dishes but it's ideal for those who don't like heat. There not a lot if decor either. The music is authentic and they play Indian MTV. The immediately start you out either a beer pitcher of water. For my drink, I'm having a Limca (you just grab it out of the cooler). Limca is an Indian multinational brand of lemon- and lime-flavoured carbonated soft drink made primarily in India and certain parts of the U.S. It contains 60 calories per 150ml can. The formula does not include fruit, relying instead on artificial flavours. In an interview in 2008, Ramesh Chauhan of Parle Bisleri revealed that he had approached the owners of Duke's Lemonade, requesting them to share the formula for the drink with the promise not to make it in India, which was turned down. Chauhan decided to come up with his own formula, which he launched under the Limca brand in 1977. In 1992, when the Indian government allowed Coca-Cola to return for operations, at the same time as it admitted Pepsi for the first time, Coca-Cola bought local soft-drink (soda) brands, from Parle Bisleri owner Ramesh Chauhan including Limca, Thums Up (a cola-like drink), Maaza (a mango-juice based drink), Citra (a clear lemon-lime drink), and Gold Spot (orange flavour). Prior to 1988, the original formula of Limca contained brominated vegetable oil (BVO). After worldwide reports of ill effects of BVO, its use in soft drinks was banned in India. As a result of this ban, the formula for Limca was changed. This is good (artificially flavored or not). For my soup, I'm having the Chicken Hot and Sour (spicy). This is a popular Indo-Chinese soup made with mixed vegetables, mushrooms, soy sauce, herbs and spices. It has a balanced taste that is spicy, tangy and hot. The soup is usually thickened lightly and flavored with ingredients like ginger, garlic, vinegar and pepper. This is good! It's not too salty. It's hot and spicy. Lots of chicken too (it's small chunks and at the bottom). Ceramic plates and metal silverware. That's a good sign! For my appetizer, I'm having the Chicken Makai Kebabs. Otherwise known as Reshmi kebab, this is [technically] a Pakistani dish of boneless chicken marinated in spices, cream, and cashew paste, and then grilled in a tandoor. The name "reshmi" translates to "silk" and describes the kebab's tender, silky texture. Some recipes use ground chicken and cream cheese to achieve this silky texture, creating a "seekh" kebab instead of a "boti" kebab. Indians make it a lot too. This is a LOT to eat! It's steaming hot! It takes a while to cook so be patient. The spices are defining unusual. I like the Indian version of cole slaw too as a side dish except they use of onion. It's crunchy. Yummy! There is a new place opening up across the mall called Sakura Haven. The new venue plans to feature an anime theme with cosplay, a live DJ, karaoke, and other themed entertainment events. Signs were recently installed at their new space. Sakura Haven has been operating as a pop-up at various bar around Connecticut. The new venue is their first physical location. For my entree, I'm having the Chicken Madras. Chicken Madras is a flavorful, spicy, and tangy Indian curry originating from the southern region of India and the city of Chennai, formerly known as Madras. The dish features chicken in a rich tomato-based sauce made with a unique blend of Madras curry powder, which is a mixture of South Indian herbs and spices. The curry is known for its heat, which comes from chili peppers or paprika, and its tangy, citrusy notes. I'm told they use coconut here. You can add naan but I don't eat a lot of bread. This is steaming hot! I love this sauce! It's not very spicy but I like it! What a great meal here!
