Goat curry

This is a small joint with some seating options. It is in front of a parking garage and does not have own parking. Food is nice and authentic Indian taste. Service is nice and guy at the counter is helpful. Give it a try if you are looking for something Indian. I had goat curry and paratha. Goat curry is nice.

The food was quite delicious. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala with the Garlic Nan bread. The chicken was a huge portion so I definitely had leftovers for lunch the next day. It's a casual counter service restaurant. The mango lassi was my absolute favorite. Definitely worth trying!

Some good bites, some not so good bites, and a little bit of wear and tear makes this place a go-to place. On the hunt for some tasty bites. Saw there was a lot of reviews for this indian place in hartford, so the girlfriend and I went here to give our take. Hartford isn't the nicest place for parking. We were able to find some street parking not too far away from this location, but there isn't any direct parking for this specific location. expect to walk a block or so to park and make your way to this place if you intend to go. The outside kind of looks a little worn down. Like the location was trying to be new and trendy, but never really updated or kept up with their maintenance. Going in, the owner caught me taking pictures outside. So he started giving our table a little more attention. Checking in on a table having a meal is fine, filling to-go sauce containers 3 feet away is a little much. The location is small, and they were not very busy, so there was a chance that he was bored and was just looking to be friendly. But if I am with my girlfriend, I do want to have space. The good bites, the Korma was pretty good. The Pani Puri was also pretty well done, but did require assembly which the owner was more than happy to walk us through once he saw that we didn't know how to assemble right away. The naan was kind of a letdown. The onion kulcha was weirdly lacking an onion flavor, despite the amount of tumeric-laced onions slathered in-between the naan. The Kashmiri naan kinda sounded like the Pashwari naan that I enjoy as a kind of dessert-y naan. When I quizzed the owner, he stated it was the same or similar at least. It was not. It had a load of pink coconut with specks of raisin and cardamom seeds. It kind of reminded me of the hostess snow-balls without the sweet and kind herby. Not what was expected, and kind of bleh. Despite the grievances, the food was cooked well and although there were some hiccups it wasn't for lack of trying. I did enjoy what I had, but found my experience tainted by an over-zealous owner. I would recommend ordering this place to go, and only if you really want indian and happen to be in hartford. The naan's a little underwhelming, but the curry and the street food's pretty good

Dhaba Wala is our favorite place to get take out in Downtown Hartford! The food is incredible consistently. We know exactly what to expect when we order from this restaurant! We highly recommend!!

This is only based on one experience, but it was terribly sad - I came to get Vada Pav, and what I got was a sad, stale Pav, with a fairly un-spiced vada. The whole slice of onion really threw me for a loop as well. Probably will not return based on this. I had vada pav on the highway between Pune and Mumbai that was far and away a more delicious experience.

NOT authentic Indian food. Wasted money. They tried emulating Indian dishes but NOT even close.

Service is quick though it can become too crowded during weekends. The owner and their staff are friendly and welcoming. We ordered dosais, vadai, mango lassi ( which tasted yummy, though it looked too bright a yellow) filter coffee, chole bhature, samosa chaat and gobi manchurian (which was surprisingly the best cauliflower Manchurian I have ever had) Every dish was tasty and the quantity was more than enough for a couple to share. Ordered both lunch specials and a pani puri to try their take. Food came out reasonably quick. Server was a little hovery so we couldn't talk about the dishes as we ate them. Lead to some awkward moments. The dosa lunch was good. Very much different types of bread and sauces to dip them.none of the sauces had a lot of spice or flavor, which was a letdown. The fried bread was very savory, and the steamed bread was like a masa bread which was a good sauce sponge. Just needed more flavor. The northern Indian lunch was more similar to other dishes we had. The carb being rice and the curries with a bit more body to them. Still lacking spice, but not bad. The carrot and cardamom sugar dessert was a tad too sweet. Needed to tamper the raw sugar flavor down a bit to let the carrot and cardamom flavors play off each other rather than both getting obliterated by sugar. The dosa was fun, the peas and mashed potato were bland, but the crispy dosa had a cheesy like crisp to it which was nice. Price was cheap, everything came out to around 25 bucks. I would hope for more flavor out of these style of dishes, but it was okay for the money.

Just really good, really fresh and tasty MiddleEastern Food. Truth be told, I'm really happy it's 150miles from my house. I'd probably have a seat with a plaque and my name on it. I'd need to pay rent because of how much time id occupy here, id have to buy birthday presents for their families and send Christmas cards. Friends, it would get wierd, know what I'm saying?!! Jesus. It's THAT good. And no I'm not drunk writing this. What can I say, I'm a big fan!!!! Get the Sharma Special. The hummus is fresh, falafel was so light. Baba ganoush was really tasty and well seasoned. Pita was piping warm and wrapped in tinfoil, wasn't just tossed in a bag or on top. They care for your food. There was nothing here I wouldn't eat and I tried almost everything. I saw many complaints here before writing a review about Delivery. I did ask about delivery and it was extensive when I called. Expect that everywhere u go. They are probably like everyone with staff shortages. Get a Uber and pick it up or get your mah to drive you. To bully their posts down for your laziness. Ok, I feel like my dad just came crawling out of me on that paragraph. Rant over. Wicked good food. Pissa Chicken Sharma and unbelievable staff to guide me on choices. I'll be back. Sold 9.9/10 !

Unfortunately the chicken wasn't my favorite. Don't let that turn you off though, you're not a weirdo, right? If I were to return I think I would focus on a falafel in a pita.

New York Gyro serves the Hartford area as one of the only, if not the only, halal gyro cart in the entire Central Connecticut area. There are other restaurants where you can buy and dine on gyro, but this is the only one on small non-drivable wheels. And let's be honest, there is a specialness to buying from a cart. The quintessential cart serves street food that adds another level of flavor that is quite hard to find anywhere under a roof. New York Gyro does not disappoint. They offer sandwiches and platters over rice or salad. I recommend trying their chicken and lamb gyro platter over rice. The white sauce hits the spot and is on the more tangy side. The platter includes a drink for $8. The portion is large and is hard to beat for the price and taste. Service is quick and the food is always satisfying. Street parking can be found nearby. Just make sure to bring cash!
