Lamb over rice
Sho R.

I took out lunch from this place recently. Philly cheese steak was my favorite here. Lamb over rice was also decent. It's good to see some Indian items in the menu. I also tried Rasa malai which is an Indian dessert, which is made from milk solids. It was ok as well.

Some nice competition for the excellent NY Chicken & Biscuits just down the street. Same type of menu - fried chicken, burgers, gyros, meat over rice, etc. - but also with pizza and Indian dishes! I gave the chicken over rice a try (a good baseline, I think, for places like this), and it didn't disappoint. The chicken seemed similar to tandoori chicken, the rice was yellow basmati, and there was a scattering of fried peppers and onions, from the tandoori chicken I assume. Plus the required perfunctory lettuce and tomatoes. I should have asked for the white and hot sauces to be slathered on instead of on the side - brain fart on my part. No matter, it's all delicious in the end. I'm sure I'll be back to try their pizza and Indian dishes, but in the meantime, I'm glad just to have another place to get chicken over rice that isn't downtown. I expect I'll alternate between HFC and NYC&B depending on my mood.

First visit here. Service: I thought the service was great. Everyone was super nice and helpful. I saw many people in and out, looks like they call in and pick up. During the time I was there, I ordered the chicken tikka biryani and about 3 people came to pick up and 2 more came in to order and wait. Food: Chicken tikka biryani They made it fresh, it tasted fresh but the chicken was kind of hard. I tried the fried chicken too and it wasn't crispy and needed more salt. I would come back again to try the masala so I can give a more rounded review. The place is clean too. I would come back again to try the

They were following COVID-19 rules. Had sanitizers for customers. Food was pretty decent. Chicken wings were too good.

Goat curry

I confess being skeptical of this place. But it's actually very good, especially for the price and convenience. The goat curry is delicious, the fried chicken holds up well, the pizzas are good, and so on. The prices are good too, relatively speaking

We've been going to Taste of India in W. Hartford for over 20 years. The food is always great and…read morethe service is exceptional. We often order on-line for pick-up which is easy except there was no place to leave a tip in the on-line process they used. Lately, however, I have noticed a tip jar at the order desk which was appreciated. Here is an example of their excellent above and beyond service... Recently we had a pick up order that was missing several items. When I unpacked the order at home I realized these items were not included and was actually going to return to the restaurant (about 5 miles) to get them. However, I called Taste of India and explained the situation. The missing items apparently had been stored in a refrigerator and not included in our order bag by mistake. The manager immediately apologized and personally drove the missing items to our home!!!! Amazing! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. What service!!!

Unexpectedly nice, mostly good bites…read more Came here because the missus was craving momo. This was off the beaten path of blue back square so it was easier to navigate. There was parking in front but that plaza was fairly busy so the doors were all taken. Inside is decorated well if not slightly dated. There was one server was preparing portions of papad. He gestured us to sit at any open table. He was very attentive after he finished his task, but the initial interaction was very casual. We opted for the momo, a chicken madras, some poori for dipping, pashwari naan for dessert, and a chicken kebab for extra protein. Food came out quick, sat down and dug in. The momo, chicken kebab, and poori were great. Fresh, prepped well and flavorful. The momo were a highlight, made in house and although loose in the filling were seasoned and tasty. The chicken kebabs had little crisp bits of char which worked with the perfectly cooked chicken. And the Marsala sauce on the side was punchy and creamy. Even the pashwari naan was filled with a wonderful fig and cardamom filling but also toasted in salted butter to give it that salty crisp bite. The only bad bite was the curry. Overcooked chicken, no spice and one note. It was a massive disappointment from the rest of the meal. Price was reasonable, cheaper than the high end Indian places but not a bargain. Meal came out to $65, and the only thing not worth the money was the curry. I feel that they purposefully held back on spices because of our appearance, but there wasn't even salt. Never the less, the food here is of a very high caliber. The service is great, and the interior is decorated well. It's worth a try, and maybe a trek if you want momo.

Bombay Olive Indian Restaurant -- my go-to spot for Indian food!…read more Whenever I'm craving Indian food, Bombay Olive is always my first choice and they never disappoint! I recently brought my family here, and they left as brand-new fans of Indian cuisine. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and witty. They had us laughing all night and were very helpful when recommending dishes for my brother, who has a nut allergy. He tried the Rogan Josh, one of my favorites, and loved its rich spices and deep flavor. We also ordered the garlic naan, butter chicken, chicken vindaloo, paneer saag, and non-veg thali. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and perfectly prepared. My 2 new favorite appetizer is the chicken pakora! It was seasoned and fried to perfection & tho chicken momos were delicious and juicy especially with their flavorful dipping sauce. Their samosa chaat was also divine, all the sauces between the yogurt, mint and tamarind sauce added such bold flavors! We absolutely loved it Bombay Olive is perfect for anyone who loves bold spices, comforting dishes, and a warm atmosphere. Whether you're new to Indian food or already a fan, this place is worth visiting!

The Bombay Olive biryani, chicken tikka masala, grilled lamb skewers, and sag paneer were all delicious. Similar to our favorites but with a slightly different flavor. The waiter talked with us about Nepalese food and invited us back for the buffet. We will take him up on the offer the next time we drive by on a weekend.

They start you out with a cold ice water. For my first drink, I'm having the Old Fashioned made with Four Roses Bourbon, simple syrup, a dash of bitters (2-3 for me) and garnished with an orange and a Maraschino cherry. This isn't bad. It's balanced pretty well. It could be a bit more chilled. I would recommend stirring it with a bar spoon. For an appetizer, I am trying the Sabjiplatter which is an assortment of vegetable fritters including eggplant (Bhujia's), potato, onion, spinach and cauliflower which come with tamarind and mint sauces. This is good! I love those sauces! For our second appetizer, we are having the Utsav Kebab Platter made with a blend of Tandoori kebabs, chicken tikka, chicken malai, kalmi kebab and shrimp tikka. These are good! Dip them in the sauces. They can be a bit dry. For out next appetizer, we are having the Papadum With Chutney which is toasted lentils crispy and flattened with onion chutney, tamarin and mint sauce. I love that onion chutney! For my soup, I'm having the Thakkali Rasam. This is a spicy South Indian hot and sour thin soup made with garlic, tamarind, herbs and spices. It's hot, spicy, tastes a little oily and has a few dried red pepper flosters. I love it! For my salad, I'm having the Garden Salad made with fresh cut rounds of cucumber, carrots, onions, tomato, and carrot served with Olive oil and Chat Masala. This thing is huge! I love the dressing! For my entree, I'm having the Goat Mamsun Koora which is goat meat n bone cooked on roasted coconut peanut masala with hot chilies, ginger, garlic and curry leaves. This is delicious! It's quite couch too!!For my second drink, I'm having a Proper Manhattan made with High West Double Rye, equal parts sweet and dry vermouth, a dash of bitters and garnished with a cherry. Very good! It's served in a martini glass! This is well balanced and chilled! What a great meal here!

Both times they had vegetable biryani, tandoori chicken and a few other staples. Food was so yummy! They have a fridge with drinks (sodas, mango lassi) and they also offer beer and wine. The mango lassis were $5 each and well worth it. I grabbed one to-go! The weekday lunch special is $14.95/person and the weekend lunch special is $17.95/person. Definitely a great deal either way! I want to check out their full menu for dinner because it looks great. Can't wait to be back! Thank you so much for having us!
