Was in the area and stopped by here for a quick bite. The spot looked very trendy and inviting. The worker was super nice and friendly. I got the Hot Honey 2.0 with French fries and an extra side of banana pudding. My daughter got the naughty neighbor. I was so impressed how the chicken had a nice crisp and was so juicy with a perfectly balanced flavorful honey heat. The pink lemonade tasted clean. I always thought that hartford and west hartford can never have good places as this place, food came out fast, the guy taking my order seem like a really cool dude and the ambiance was as great as any other birdcodes. All of them are prepared in your choice of heat level (country, mild, medium, hot and code breaker). It all depends if you want zero cayenne pepper, or something between a sprinkle and a downpour of cayenne on your chicken. Fries, bowls, salads, and sides round out the menu, so you really have a tremendous choice for your meal. After I ordered, I took a seat and a few minutes later my food was delivered to my table. So take away is the way we have always ordered, through the app. Being able to select arrival time makes ordering here easy. Updating my last review because there are menu updates like hot honey and nuggets which were not part of the earlier review. A few of my family members like the Mando with varied levels of heat. My youngest likes the strips. I am a fan of the Hot Honey 2.0 at medium level. Hot if I am feeling rambunctious. Crinkle fries rock and the mac n cheese is great. I think this place has become better as they go! Can't wait for Canton to open! Recently visited this place in West Hartford. The place had a few tables inside and a couple outside. A lot of the volu.e I saw was for pickup orders. The day I went all tables were taken and it was busy. Guy at the register was frie day, no complaints there. We got the tenders and classic sandwich w mild heat. This was definitely the right level of heat as it was spicy but not too hot. Definitely you need a drink to eat comfortably. I felt the chicken was on the greasy side, but that's just my opinion, with that said the chicken was very good. We also got the season fries which were good too. The fries were also surprisingly good for crinkle cut. I usually don't like those type of fries because they're not crispy enough but these actually retained crisp and also were so buttery. And the Mac and cheese was also amazing. I wouldn't say it's better than Panera Mac and cheese, like another reviewer said, but it's definitely close. It's different, less cheese, more buttery creaminess, but very tasty. Honestly, the banana pudding wasn't bad at all, it just didn't compare to the level of awesomeness that the other food items had. I ordered my tenders mild and even the mild had some heat to it. I would go up one level but I'd be too scared to try the hottest for sure! Chicken was next-level good. Perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, with the perfect amount of breading that was crispy and light. Easily the best fried chicken I've had in this area. The Mac and cheese was a little underwhelming - very good, just not the star of the show. Good portion size for what I paid. Chocolate chip cookie was to die for and was massive. Better than I was expecting for sure. Bakery quality. I got it delivered and everything was packaged really nicely. I have a fairly high spice tolerance so I also had The Naughty Neighbor but with the Code Breaker hot chicken (their spiciest) w/ shake crinkle cut fries, comeback sauce, and cheese sauce. Loads of flavor on the fries. The most important part is the chicken. Code breaker is not for the feint of heart. That sh*t was fire. I got bamboozled. Super tasty though. I am an avid fan of hot sauces and tasted many varieties of ghost pepper sauces, Trinidad scorpion sauces etc and Code Breaker here was legit. This was the best fried chicken around! I think we would have preferred a more sit down restaurant type place, but that won't stop me from going back. My DH loves spicy food and asked the guy at the counter about the different levels. The guys said they are definitely spot on with the "hot" level with habanero and ghost chilis in the "hot" level, so my DH went medium! He had the Sando and said it had a good heat perfect for the sandwich. He could have gone hotter but wondered if it would take away from the flavors. It comes with a slice of white bread, which I personally didn't eat. Their was more heat than flavor in my opinion but the tenders are served with their homemade sauce. I personally do not like the sauce since it tasted more like a mayonnaise based sauce and I don't eat mayonnaise. Honestly, the best thing was my husbands chicken sandwich (The Sando). Chick Fil A and Popeyes have NOTHING on Birdcode's Sando (Chicken) Sandwich! We could not stop talking about how juicy the chicken was and how amazing the coding was! I read reviews saying if you can't handle too much spice- get the mild. My husband opted for that and loved it but I got a little bold and got the medium and absolutely LOVED it! The chicken was just so meaty and tender while the outside gave me this mildly spicy layer of crunchy breading on the outside. The chicken itself is like a gift from the outside world. I could not even react when I took my first bite. It was like I saw a ghost. The fries were crispy and had absolutely no grease whatsoever on them. Like they were baked, they probably were. Such a classic move. Genius owners. The best thing about this experience is the difference between here and Chick-fil-A or Popeyes.
