This was my first time trying Haven hot chicken and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered off the tablet and may have ordered a bit too much as I was going based of the pictures I was seeing. The food was a great portion size and well worth the price in my opinion. Parking is a little inconvenient depending on what time of day you decide to go but luckily we found a spot right in-front of the restaurant. We decided to dine in and it took about 25 minutes to get our food granted we did order 3 meals. I personally did not mind the wait however ordering for pick up would be much easier. Inside of the restaurant was nicely cleaned and well lit. The mural on the wall was a very nice touch. Would definitely comeback again and try something new! read more

I ordered dinner with my family recently and had the French Toast Melt. I enjoyed the bread as it was lightly sweet, but unfortunately I had a bad piece of chicken. The chicken was too tough to chew that I ended up only eating some of the fried skin and threw the actual meat out. Omg, so freaking good. We've been meaning to go to the OG Haven Hot Chicken but just never got there. We were delighted that they opened a location in Middletown. We had two sandwiches, one "hot" and one "haven hot". We also had an order of Mac + Cheese, fries and a side of pickles. Hot chicken sandwiches are an art form. You need the crisp, crunch, juice and spice. A delicate balance of all makes it delicious or too much of any of the above it becomes a disaster. Hot Haven has got it going on. Absolute perfection. The Mac and cheese is a delightful sidekick. I could take or leave the fries but that's just me. Everyone was super nice and food was ready at the time promised. Parking is kind of a pain but that's anywhere in Middletown. The dining area has about 8-10 tables if you want to stop in to eat there. We will be back, probably way too often. read more

I've been wanting to try this place and my buddy convinced me to as we were working late one one night and it was one of a few options for something quick still open downtown. I got a chicken sandwich and banana pudding. I went for the medium or regular spicy and as advertised, it's hot. Very tasty, filling and though a little on the pricy side, it was a decent value. The banana pudding, not something I would normally order, tasted homemade it was so good. On my return trip I got the mac and cheese with sweet heat chicken. I may like it even more than the sandwich. I missed the pickles this time though. Service has been good here. Granted, I've only ever picked things up, but they were helpful cheery. Haven Hot Chicken is the best hot chicken I've had in CT. I'm thrilled that they opened a location in Middletown, and hoping they open one closer to Hartford soon. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. The menu has lots of variety. I went with the tender sandwich with medium spice, and the spice level was perfect. We also had the fuego fries with all of the toppings. Speaking of toppings, their pickles are excellent, as is their house sauce! I'm looking forward to going back soon to try some more items. The banana pudding looked great. This place is only a couple of weeks old at the time of my post, and has been the talk of the town... not necessarily in the best way. The first thing I have heard from everyone is about how expensive the place is. I wanted to try it out for myself, and see if it was worth the money. I got the "country" chicken sandwich, which is the non-spicy option. If the food was going to be pricey, I didn't want to maybe risk hating it all together if it ended up too spicy for me! So, now, the most important part... how was the food?! I ordered the sandwich, which gets a choice of a side and I chose the macaroni and cheese which I believe was an up charge and it came with a drink, plus an order of the banana pudding. That all came to about $27. A little pricey for a quick lunch. The sandwich had pickles and a slaw. The chicken wasn't dry, but it wasn't juicy either, and I'd say it was decently sized. There was no overwhelming or even distinctive seasoning or spices. The macaroni and cheese was cheesy, but like in a watery way, not a cheese drip kind of way. My experience here has changed my opinion of Haven Hot Chicken. I've reviewed another location a couple years ago and wasn't impressed. This time I was so impressed I maybeeee ate it two days in a row. I tried the Mac and cheese and kale salad (tried to be healthy ish for a minute). My husband got the chicken sandwich. All were very satisfying. I got the hot spice level for the Mac & cheese. It was very hot but the syrup cooled it down pleasantly but my husband was suffering with his hot sandwich. He then proceeded to get another hot sandwich and hot Mac and cheese the next day. He also suffered the next day but it's so good we have to do it. I decided to try the kale salad on a medium level but it was so hot I wondered if they'd accidentally made it hot! It was a good salad but I decided I still am not crazy about kale.
