The service was horrendous the time I went and the food, we order lamb chops, they came out mostly burnt, carmalzied onions which are supposed to be caramelized were burnt to a crisp. They gave us 3 orders of kebab we never ordered, and had us wait 20 mins for naan, all the while our karahi was getting cold. We ordered one chai at the end, regretfully, because they told us "I'll take a while" for chai, and it took probably 15 mins for one cup of chai. The food is amazing here! I love the chicken kebabs and the biryani. I was just surprised that you can only purchase bottled water. Saratoga Springs... I went with my girls and they took our order fairly quickly but we expected at least water while we waited for our meals. It took me a while to flag down the waitress to ask for water. She seemed surprised and I had to confirm we would like some water. I thought it was a little strange. She brings out a bottle of Saratoga Spring. I thought it was sparkling water so I asked for just water. She didn't seem to understand so we just took the bottled water. I realized later that they don't serve water because another table asked for water also and seemed surprised. Maybe they should mention that they only served bottled water for purchase so we can decide whether to order water right away instead of waiting like 30 minutes. Wonderful hole in the wall Pakistani restaurant! I'm so glad we found this place for some authentic Pakistani food and wish we could try even more items. We came here as a group and got to enjoy samosa chaat, chicken samosas, mango lassi, grilled platter, korma and chicken biryani with Kashmiri chai and kheer and gulab jamun for dessert. Everything was freshly made and very tasty! The naans were also great size and fluffy yum! The service was decent as we had to ask for someone from grocery store to get us a waiter. Being from Florida which has limited desi food options. I loved the food options Rasham restaurant had. The food was really good and the service decent. The restaurant has a good amount of seating. In my stay in Connecticut, I tried Rasham 's food twice. First time we got kabobs catered from this restaurant for my sister's in home party. Second time we dined in the restaurant and tried two types of mixed grills- one with chicken and one with beef. Both came sizzling and were really good. Beef nihari was good as well. Brain masala was decent but on the small size portion side. Samosas in the beginning we're decent too because they weren't very spicy, some more spice would have been nice in them. Overall good restaurant with fresh food. Recommendation : the desi chai was just barely warm, hope they make it nice and hot next time that makes the meal come together at the end. ~ read more

Had a family get together here and the food was amazing! Very flavorful and full of spice, we tried a variety of items but their meat items were the best goat karahi ( goat curry) , biryani, bbq chicken and kebabs, and nihari (beef stew) all traditional Pakistani dishes and very authentic food. The goat stew was thick, very flavorful with some bones but lots of meat too, & it's not really spicy or salty. Disclaimer: Have only gotten take out here but it is incredible! This restaurant had a pop up tent at a local farmer's market and were selling the best samosas I have ever tried. We were bored with pizza vs Chinese for take out options and opted to try this Pakistani restaurant. We both had the curried chickpeas (chana masala), rice and naan which was inhaled in 30 minutes...so good! Definitely will be in the take out rotation. read more

Over the years, the standard has gone down. In addition to the standard, the atmosphere has downgraded significantly. Not a place for solo female business travelers to eat. Expect personal space and privacy violation. During a recent visit, I experienced rotten atmosphere with barrage of personal questions at the checkout counter by one of the owners instigated by some weirdos at the restaurant. Very clearly, there is neither any social decorum nor basic etiquettes observed here. Highly uncouth atmosphere. Strangely enough, the entourage of the weirdos came running outside as I was leaving with my groceries. Upon my lodging a complaint with one of the owners the next day, I was advised that the weirdos were their family friends. Why would these weirdos or anyone hover over a female patron who by mistake entered the restaurant to catch a meal and pick the groceries is beyond me? Upon talking with law enforcement and law makers in the family, I was advised to call the police if a patron feels harassed. I would strongly advise any other patron who feels their privacy and personal space violated to follow suit. Getting a meal at a restaurant should not be such a poor experience. Prior to that, stopped by on a family visit in the area with a friend several months back and she also did not care for the atmosphere or the food. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with a small group of friends after checking out nearby South Windsor Farmers Market. The interior is lovely with homey and colorful touches of pretty paintings. There are crystal lights, white tablecloths paired with black chairs, as well as many windows which give the place nice, natural lighting. There is a warm, welcoming ambiance upon stepping inside. The only option they had for lunch was the buffet, which worked out because that is what I wanted to try. The total cost per person was approximately $17 which is a pretty good deal. There were some great options at the buffet table, including manjo juice and 2 different types of dessert. However, I would have liked a little bit more variety, such as a fish and some meats other than just chicken. We were also served freshly warmed naan bread. The manjo juice was so refreshingly cold and tasty. It reminded me of a non-smoothie version of mango lassi. I tried a little bit of everything: Chickpeas, Zucchini with carrots, Potatoes, Biryani rice with goat, Biryani rice with chicken, Tandoori chicken, Ground lamb with onion & peppers and another Chicken dish. The veggies were lightly spiced with many seasonings and were perfectly cooked to the soft consistency I like. The rice was pretty good, though slightly on the bland side. Also, the one with goat was not very meaty - The pieces of goat were small and mostly bones. Tandoori chicken was lightly charred which added to the flavor. The lamb was delightfully well seasoned and tender, while the accompanying onion and peppers were satisfyingly crunchy. I enjoyed the contrast of textures. The chicken was succulent and covered in a flavorful savory sauce. There was also a salad bar with 3 choices of dressing. I was too full to try any of it, but the lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and cucumber looked fresh and crisp. Both the desserts were absolutely delicious! One was kheer pudding, with a strong taste of cinnamon and cardamom, which was wonderfully thick, smooth and milky. The other was orange in color with crushed almonds on top. This one was syrupy sweet with a hint of ginger. Service was great. The servers were pleasant and friendly. Since I was able to try so much of the food, I don't feel the need to return. read more

Ordered their Chicken kebab platter and it was superb. Meats were all cooked flawless, veggies were great, really don't expect to find this high quality of cooking in CT - I expect this in NYC. Had their Chicken Makhani - which was even better than I remembered! We have this dish often, and I was impressed. Flavors were spot on and it was cooked to perfection. One tip, ask what sides your food comes with. Most of their menu is a-la-carte. It is a little pricey for what it is, but the quality is so high that you will be happy with what you get. We asked for spicy, they gave us a warning on "spicy", but it wasn't all that spicy. We're ghost pepper people. Should have challenged the chef to make it hurt like I do sometimes. Not a huge deal, but do love heat - serve it up when people ask! Wife also ordered haleem, which was chicken - would have liked to have goat, but it's only cooked during Ramadan. This food is, without question, 100/10 and I'm blown away that we've got it here in CT. I have been to Karachi a few times and I promise this is the real deal and better than what you'll find there. It's made from scratch, to order, and with love. The place is an absolute gem. I ordered dinner from here on a Friday night and had it delivered to my house. I typically pickup from this restaurant and it was the first time getting delivery from them. However the food came right on time and was also still hot and packaged well. The food from Rasham is always very tasty, has a good amount of heat and also accurate (something I've had issues with during COVID at other places). However I feel that the size of the food is a bit small for the price. This place is less expensive than similar restaurants around it, however the meals do not come with any rice and also seem to be smaller. However, the food is good and the folks inside friendly. Overall I'd recommend visiting, just keep in mind you need to order rice on the side and may get a smaller portion than expecting. read more

I stopped in for dinner tonight and became the 21st customer in the dining room. From what I could see, I was the only person of the Caucasian Persuasion. Add that nugget to the Indian/Pakistani music playing over the audio system and you get the idea that Rasham is the real deal -authentic South Asian food with a loyal clientele of followers. I saw a big table of 15 folks laughing and drinking lassis and enjoying big plates of food. The dining room is pretty simple -lots of gold, burgundy, and white shades on the walls and even on the ceiling tiles. I counted about 15 tables in the dining room. My server, Talet, was a great guy- super friendly and polite. And in case you were wondering he spoke better English than I did! I tried Chicken Shami ($4), a Chicken Samosa ($1.50), and an order of Shrimp Biryani ($12.99). The Shami was a chicken and lentil patty served with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The chicken Samosa was sort of a ground chicken turnover in a pastry crust. They were served with three sauces- a brownish tamarind sauce, a light green mint sauce, and a white yogurt sauce. The tamarind didn;t do much for me, but the yogurt was good, and the mint was great- surprisingly spicy and very tasty. The Samosa was excellent and a real bargain at just a buck and a half. The Shrimp Biryani was very good and a good value at $12.99. It was a generous serving of perfectly seasoned rice, with a ton of small shrimp. At first I was thinking that the amount of shrimp wouldn't be very impressive. But in spite of their size, there was so many of them that it seemed as though there were two in every forkful. Very good Pakistani restaurant. The food is a little bit on the spicy side, but not as spicy as other restaurants in the area. Decent chicken biryani and delicious, creamy haleem (best haleem I had). They have a buffet on the weekends. That is a very good value. Generally I wake up and go for the buffet. Whole days calorie intake will be taken care of by the buffet. And the food taste good as well. This is a family owned business, where generally dad, mom and some helper handle the kitchen and 2 brothers act as waiters. I like their chicken samosa. Among breads Raisin & Almond naan was very nice and different. Raisin gives a sweetness and almond gives a crunchiness to the bread. Keema paratha was very good too. Biryanis are good. Generally I go for chicken and lamb. This time I tried shrimp. It was good too. Chicken karahi is a very good curry. Balti goat is expensive, but good. There is good quantity. I tried the chicken bihari kabab and beef shish kabab. Try it with the white chutney. It is very good. The chicken was very tender. read more

We just love Rasham. We consider it a neighborhood restaurant. Their meals are very reasonable and we think quite healthy! I would caution the average diner that the mild is very spicy. I ate here for the first time yesterday with two others and the food was amazing! The service is fantastic and the owner is very friendly and accommodating. All the food at the buffet is excellent but be certain to order the mixed grill which comes with meat and vegetables. Also, the yogurt is homemade (as is everything else). I love the Kebabs here. Although I do a takeway from here but they have recently renovated the interiors that makes it a good place to dine in. The food is always tasty and is prepared fresh and the service has always been very good.I personally have enjoyed eating in the restaurant more than take out from here. The menu choices are fairly diverse and they are helpful explaining the different menu options if you're not familiar with them. We had goat nahari. Chicken balti and butter chicken. All items tasted awesome. The goat nihari was not % authentic but very close. Chicken balti was very yummy. I would strongly recommend that. However the service was slow and order was messed. They served wrong item. When I pointed it out they simply replaced it with a different wrong item. Without any apologies-really!!!! Would have given a 1 star for that but that would not do justice to the balti chicken. read more
