This is a shop front space that's accessible right from Park Street. It always looks dark in there so I assumed it wasn't open, one day I decided to venture in. Personally I'm not big on eating meat, but if you are, Brazil Grill might be the place for you. They have everything, from pork, to beef, stake, lamb, sausages to chicken. Brazil Grill is located on Park Street in Hartford. They have a very small parking for around five cars in front of the restaurant. When you walk inside, this where one of the friendly servers will greet you and ask is this your first time in their establishment. This is where you can make a request for the type of meat you would like. They are going to take it off the grill on skewers and cut as much for you as you would like. To the left you will find a very small buffet of some salads and sides. I got the Yuca soup. I don't think I've had this before. This soup is yellow like the cheddar and broccoli soup. Except it might be healthier, it isn't heavy or particularly salty, I could taste the ginger and there was shrimp in it. It is pretty hearty for a cold day. I wasn't really interested in anything else at Brazil Grill. They had some really delicious looking desserts right across from where I was sitting. I got the flan. This was incredible! It was sweet, syrupy, soft and springy! I very rarely have flan, this might be the reason I'd come back to Brazil Grill. They charge everything by weight. But save a lot of room on your plate, because the best is yet to come when you enter the Meat Zone. You'll see a hand written sign with the grilled meats of the day- Pork, Beef, Lamb, sausage, chicken, and chicken hearts. You go to the ordering counter, let the guy know what you want, and he takes out a huge skewer of meat from the grill and slices off whatever you want. It's quite a show ! Brazil Grill charges you buy the pound, so you place your plate on a scale and are given a card with a number. If you want to go up for seconds, go right ahead but bring your numbered card so the cashier can add plate #1 to plate #2 on your bill. They also have beer and a lot of desserts so you can make your meal a real feast. I went for the pork sausage and "beef rib" (which was really sliced Prime Rib). The quality of both cuts of meat were very good. Both were served hot and were fresh and juicy. I saw that some reviewers encountered dried out or cold meats, but that wasn't the case with what I had. We interacted with two employees- the guy who carved up the meats and the young lady at the register, both were warm and friendly. This was more about doing a quick taste test. At the register the same customer who suggested the potatoes salad told me I need to try the mango juice, so I also purchase the large mango juice. I've been coming here for more than 5 years, food is always good but it's always been pricey. Today, I went and they started charging $21/POUND! Which is absolutely insane! I've never had Brazilian food before, and Brazil grill is a wonderful experience for both first timers and regulars alike. How it works, is that Brazil Grill is a pay-per-pound, buffet-style system. You pick out what you like from a buffet that includes a salad bar, a couple of regular meats, a nice pasta, white and vegetable rice, caramelized plantains, fresh fruit and other items. I like to balance all the great meat that will be coming so I usually get plantains, a little bit of rice and some fresh fruit or greens. Be warned, don't get a case of the hungry eyes and take anything you won't finish, because you'll be paying for it. Next, proceed to the meat carving station, where you can pick what you'd like from a selection of Brazilian BBQ. I tend to go for things I can't get or make at home, so I'm especially partial to the lamb, beef ribs, pork sausage, and chicken hearts (so good! don't knock it till you try it!!) For the faint-hearted (and scared-y cats) they do have chicken wings, chicken sausage, chicken wrapped in bacon, pork loin and top sirloin as well. Although you can order them to your liking, everything is typically cooked well-done. Scoot on over to the last station to pick a wine, beer or other beverage. You won't have to pay until you've finished, because everything you take will be tracked on an assigned number the staff gives you. Enjoy your foods, or return for more of anything you want. And at the end, consider one of the tasty treats in the dessert showcase. Every once and a while, they offer a Groupon, so keep and eye out for that. I came here for dinner on a Sunday evening with my family. The parking lot gets full quickly but luckily there is street parking. The "buffet" section is all really good but be careful not to fill up on it too much, you need room for the meat! I loved all the meat options they had on skewers and chose the lamb and beef ribs. The meats were flavorful. I felt the atmosphere was relaxed not sure about the decor seemed confusing. When you enter you are faced with a register directly in front of you. Slightly to you left is a small carving station and to you direct left is a buffet station. Your meal will include the buffet station so you must start there. You walk in and grab what you wish from the buffet area then you proceed to the carving station and request for whatever meats you wish. Keep in mind that what you grab from the buffet and the meats you choose will all be weighed. I got introduced to this place several years ago by a family member and have loved it since. I would definitely recommend especially if you have not tried Brazilian food before! There was a point in time where I stopped in weekly(sometimes more than once) to get a to-go plate. What i love is that they have a variety of options that are not the same every day. I like that you are able to serve yourself all the veggies and sides so you can customize your portion. I am a fan of the beef rib and pork sausage. The chicken wrapped bacon is pretty good as well. You can ask for well done or a little rare if thats your thing. The inside is always clean with plenty of seating. if you chose to sit down they will bring you your drinks and deserts to the table and you pay after dining. I've learned to be a little careful not to go overboard, they charge by weight, so it can get expensive quickly if you are loading up. Yum! I'd been craving Brazilian barbecue for a few months and my companion and I finally got a chance to calm the craving. I'd done a bit of yelp research beforehand and there was another place (Braza) that came up in my search that was all-you-can-eat but didn't have great reviews. This place had great reviews though, so even though it was a per-pound place, we headed here. We grabbed ourselves some plates and started filling them up at the buffet area. There was a shrimp risotto that we both loved because of its flavor and texture. It reminded me of paella a bit. There were a bunch of other dishes too, like tortellini, noodles, rice, vegetables, salad, beans, etc. After that, we went to the meat station. There was a list of what was available and we read through and then started requesting. As we asked for what we wanted, the guy grabbed skewers from the oven, sliced off as much as we asked for, and then put the meat on our plates. We ended up trying the sirloin, beef short ribs, pork sausage, and chicken with bacon. Everything was really delicious. Then we took our plates to the weigh station where they weighed our plates (don't worry, the scale was at a negative weight to zero out the mass of the plate) and paid before we sat down. They have a few beers and wines available as well as juices and sodas. We then sat ourselves in the seating area and enjoyed our food. This place worked out really well because we were full after eating our single plates, and each plate was under $10! What a bargain. We didn't try any of the desserts since we were stuffed, but they had some cakes which looked yummy as well as rice pudding, which looked really good. Brazil Grill is one of our favorite hidden gems in Hartford. My partner goes all the time and I go sometimes when we're in town. It's definitely not similar to Fogo de Chao or anything, as you walk in and to the left is the food and to the right is the dining table. They have a bunch of options like fish, tortellini in rose sauce, shrimp risotto (it's rice but that's unimportant), mixed vegetables, fruit, salad, and more. Then after you go around the little part of the restaurant you go to the counter where they have the spits with the meat. They have a somewhat limited selection but it does include various steals and lamb. It's always delicious. Then next to that you go to the register and they open a tab of sorts and weigh your plate. You get drinks there too. It's pretty simple. There is a bunch of smoke from the stove that's cooking the meat near the door so if that bothers you beware and sit on the other end of the dining room. The place is neat and newly renovated. The varieties of meat and the buffet dishes are not what you see at a Brazilian grill in other cities - Boston or RI. But, what we have are good and tasty. Once you're done at the buffet you then proceed to the counter to select your meats. They offer beef, pork and lamb options. I had a little bit of each. The meat was well prepared and tasty. The problem is the buffet itself. My sides were all either lukewarm or cold. This was big turn off. I picked at my food and most of it went uneaten. At the end of my meal , the gentleman at the counter asked enthusiastically "how was it?" And while it's priced by the pound, you'll pay about 1/3 what you will at Braza...unless you can put away four pounds of meat. The meat is well and simply prepared. Good meat needs but salt. Calling all meat lovers! I adore this little place tucked away in a small building in Hartford. Easy to miss as the sign that overlooks the road isn't that obvious, and they don't have a sign on the building itself. Simple ambiance - low key, and never too loud. They offer a buffet-style food bar, where you can get rice and beans, etc. They do mix it up on occasion, and the items are good, but I tend to try to limit what I get from there as the meat that comes out of the fire pit is just plain awesome. They offer tons of options of meat - chicken hearts, chicken wrapped in bacon, chicken wings, pork sausage, pork loin, beef ribs, top sirloin, sirloin, and lamb I believe. You can ask for a piece that that suits your needs such as well done with crispy edges to medium rare with a warm pink center. They cater to what you want. One tip: don't leave without a coxhina. It is a scrumptious ball of shredded chicken wrapped in mashed potatoes, coated and then deep fried. Similar to a chicken croquette but much, much better. Lot's of love goes into this one, and you don't know they offer if unless you have an "in"...you have your in now. Don't regret not asking for it. The price is right too. My husband and I will go and eat, without being bashful...lot's of food and drinks and we end up spending $30 between the two of us. Unbelievable how much you get for how much you pay!
