Fantastic shop for locals and tourists alike; it's just far enough off the beaten path that I think…read morelots of tourists need to be in the know to find it. I've driven by the shop several times and wondered what it was--I saw the solidarity fist; bar? Union headquarters? I found out what it was when I ended up here to buy souvenirs when flying home to visit family. They have TONS of stuff, lots of t-shirts and sweatshirts, but also hats, glasses, mugs... even pacifiers with the Chicago flag on them (you know I bought one for the toddler). They have some standard Chicago flag stuff but they also put their spin on it with some flags made with animal paws, or maybe my favorite was the one with apples on it. I think that's what lured me in, actually; my best friend is a teacher and I wanted to get one to take to her. The guy that works there told me the story, that the teacher's union was going to strike and this was a design they had come up with and Rep CHI started printing them. I looooooove the way the Chicago flag is used as the basis of so many designs and this is one of my favorites. Prices are super reasonable and you'll find lots of great stuff here. If you have visitors, I'd definitely bring them here first to look for souvenirs. The parking is fairly easy, all street in this area of Jeff/Portage Park. And grab a few of their little buttons on the way out!

The Chicago themed items for sale in her store are good quality and reasonably priced. I will definitely return soon to score some more Chitown merch. Thank you, Marian.

Daniel and his team did a nice job with a work order I needed printed: color flyers and 2-sided…read morecolor postcards. Both turned out beautifully. Thank you. Checker was also very nice. I tried to shop for some other things as I needed a desk lamp, wall clock, calendar and cork board for a guest rental room, but the selection was limited and oddly overpriced, like $31 for a basic framed cork board, and only 2-3 desk lamps- all priced so high. The weirdest part was the "Bargain Bin" section in the back where items are mass-priced based on the day of the week, so today being Friday, each item was $15, then the prices lowers each day until the remaining items on Thursday are $2 each. My observations: the bins were messy, filled with cheap stuff, food packages were mixed in with chemical-based items, and boxes were torn, empty or undecipherable. There was a box of metal plates like part of a car? Where did this stuff come from? Nothing was worth $15! Most items were not even worth 50 cents. It looked like someone just dumped random items into giant tubs, instead of just throwing them away, and called it a day.

This Staples feels like a liminal space. I had a question about a printing/laminating job but the…read moreprinting department was seemingly abandoned. I asked the cashier and he kind of blankly stared and directed me to the abandoned printing department. Thanks, I guess, but there's nobody there! After a few minutes of standing there awkwardly hoping an employee would materialize, someone did make their way over. I asked my question and got a similar blank space and no helpful info. I left! I went to a UPS store and they did the job for me btw so I wasn't asking for something impossible! I understand that people in retail aren't getting paid enough but you can't just fluoride stare your way through every second of your employment.
