This has been on my list forever as a Jean Georges restaurant, so I finally made it in for dinner this past Tuesday. Hosts were super nice and welcoming right off the bat. I'm a Resy Global Dining Access member and they actually noted it to make sure we got a great table, which I appreciated. Also, it was so nice and cold inside given the insane heat we've had this week, small thing but it mattered. Vibe was really nice too. We started with the Tropicale margarita, which was delicious, the mango, lime, habanero combo just works. Ordered the garlic shrimp and the pea guacamole to start, both really good and paired perfectly with the margaritas. Then we got the fish tacos and pork tacos. Honestly both were great, and I'm normally a pork person, it was tender and flavorful, but the fish taco kind of stole the show here. Grilled fish, seasoned just right, not overdone, and that citrus plus their homemade habanero sauce was chef's kiss. Portions are on the smaller side, but the quality's there, so we still had room for dessert. Got the churros and the caramel popcorn ice cream. Went for the churros first and... they just weren't it. Texture was off, kind of crumbly in a way that didn't feel like a properly done churro. The ice cream though, worth every penny. If you're choosing between the two, get the ice cream. Kind of surprised our server never asked why the churros were basically untouched, feels like something worth mentioning back to the kitchen. Service was sweet overall, but they did bring us chicken tacos instead of fish at one point, which took like 20-25 min to sort out. Paid $230 for 2 people, overall a good meal and I'd go back again for those fish tacos. read more

It's been a few years since I've eaten at ABC Cocina. Wasn't surprised that the food is still incredible and always delivers a fabulous experience, especially if you enjoy sharing dishes with friends! Guacamole, is addictive, topped with herbs and a little pomegranate; Fluke crudo is so refreshing with their lime chili dressing; Shrimp with garlic and chill, was good but not as good as I remembered it to be; Fish tacos great layer of flavors; Tenderloin burnt ends with chimichurri sauce OMG! Perfection. Dessert: Ice cream sundae with caramel pop corn and peanuts, I wanted to lick the bowl and cookie plate with bergamot madeleine, cardamom coconut macaroon, rainbow, rye gianduja, sumac lemon, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, pb & strawberry jam. I was eager to try this place but unfortunately I feel that you are mostly paying for the atmosphere. The food, while fresh and photogenic, was not memorable. The pork tacos were the best dish, but I've had better at the local taco shop down the street. The biggest letdown was the arroz con pollo. The only flavor I could taste was black pepper and I didn't like how the chicken was chopped in like fried rice. Overall I would try other tapas places before coming back here. read more

We came here to celebrate the birthday of two friends. We had many of the appetizers family style and followed by individual entrees. Everything was beautiful, delicious and wonderfully spiced. I had the pork rib dish which was a huge portion. There was a bit of confusion when one of the birthday person was in the bathroom when dessert came out with the complimentary birthday cupcakes and candle. But the staff handle the situation well and did a retry with the cupcakes & candles when everyone was back at the table. Thank you for attentive servers. They made our evening. read more

This is another spot I like to frequent during NY Restaurant week. I grabbed an easy solo reservation around 1pm for a 5pm dinner before a show. This location is not too far from Union Square. This restaurant is apart of Jean-George's restaurant collection so you know you're in for a treat. I suggest: if you are going with a group make reservations a day before if possible, opt for an early dinner, and get the Diablo if you like a SPICY marg (the jalapeño marg is not spicy). The chicken breast I ordered was juicy and seasoned well. The flan was quite thin and could without the vanilla creamer on the side. The portions are not big so if you are very hungry this is not the spot. I was satisfied before my show. I'll be back to try more entrees. read more

I have been to abc cocina a few times but never for brunch. Unlikely but excellent choice I would say. The venue is beautiful and the service is so attentive. I always ask for extra hot coffee at brunch restaurants and I always get lukewarm...but I got this delicious perfectly warm latte here. For the appetizers we got patatas bravas and cheddar jalapeño fritters (recommended by the server). Both were so delicious. For the main course we got the huevos rancheros and French toast. The French toast was so good. One of the best I have had. I highly recommend the fritters and the French toast. They must not be skipped. Came here for dinner tonight with a friend. The place was busy. We were seated half an hr after our reservation time. When we were seated, we ordered from the restaurant week menu and off the regular menu as well. The service was non existing for us. Flagging down a waiter/ waitress was stressful. We had a hard time getting anyone to come take our order for a while. After we finally were able to order. We got our taco dishes before our appetizer which I thought was weird. Also, we had to asked three different waiter/waitress for a glass of water and finally received water 40minutes after we sat down. The food itself was okay. The crispy fish taco and chicken tacos were the best items. The wood grilled summer squash with fresco cheese was a bit on the salty side. The shrimp tostada was good. The roasted faroe island salmon was cooked nicely but the fish was on the salty side. The churros with chocolate was the best dish we had. The churro was light and crispy. It was delicious. We also had the sweet and sour cherry pie with lavender ice cream, which the ice cream was good but the pie was a bit sweet. We had to hunt the wait staff down to get the bill. The decor was nice at the restaurant was nice. If you want to sit and chat for hours and with the staff forgetting about you this is the restaurant. The interior is gorgeous with dimly lit with antique/modern vibes, super fancy chandeliers, little table lamps and different textures in the walls. We shared a bunch of plates together because we were a big group of like 8 people. It's been a while since I last visited abc Cocina & it was so great to know that the food was still delicious. Yes, the dishes were somewhat small and it's a little pricey but to have a really good meal for a little extra price was so worth it. The service was excellent and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The habanero hot sauce at the table definitely added an extra star for me since I love spicy food & the sauce was excellent but there was really no bad dish here me. Came here for restaurant week and it was SO good. Every single thing I ate here was good. I ordered the fluke, the Hake, and the churros. The fluke was well seasoned and flavored, although I would remove the corn because texturally it was too tough. I felt like I was going to chip a tooth eating it. But it was good either way. The Hake was seriously sooo good, flavorful, and flaky. It was done to absolute perfection. Would highly recommend this dish. Came here for a late dinner after seeing Titanique the Musical, at 9 PM on a Tuesday, and was surprised to find it packed and loud inside. The decor is beautiful and the ambiance is really cool, but after spending a few minutes inside we asked for a table outside so we could hear each other speak without shouting. This was perfect for us. Service was slow, but we didn't mind. We shared a bunch of tapas: patatas bravas, spiced ground beef and celery root empanadas with tomato salsa, wood fired octopus with green romesco sauce, and crispy gulf flounder tacos with a cabbage chili pickle topping. They have a tapas style menu so I got to try a bunch of things - Guacamole: simple, fresh with warm just-out-of-the-fryer chips Yellowfin tartare: had a lot of different elements that really brought the dish together, although wasn't my favorite thing on the menu Squash and cheese emanada: on the sweeter side, but not greasy or doughy Mushroom quesadilla: was pleasantly surprised with this one. I'm used to eating quesadillas that tend to be very greasy and cheesy and although this had a great amount of cheese, it still felt pretty easy on the stomach Fish tacos: one of the most interesting tacos I've had, it hit all the flavor profiles - had some sweetness, freshness and spice Hopper shrimp: simple and amazing! Really disappointed with my experience here last night. We called ahead yesterday (valentine's day) about ~15 minutes before arriving to see if there was availability. I asked the woman over the phone if she managed the book for abc cocina specifically; there seemed to be some confusion and I would describe the tone from the employee as short/annoyed. After some clarification, I asked if we could come in for a bite within 15 minutes. She said yes, they have availability. 15 minutes later we arrive and another hostess let's us know that they're not serving food in preparation for valentine's day. To management: I'd be very selective on who you have answer your phone. Acting annoyed when customers call, and giving them incorrect information is certainly not way to retain loyal customers. Omg, soooo good. The only thing I didn't care for was the fritters. Otherwise, the pork tacos, the chicken tacos and the sea bass made into tacos were all well seasoned and tasty. This is an excellent place to get cocktails/drinks and tapas or smaller plates. Their fritters were amazing (especially with the sauce) and their sangria was also very good. Attentive service and very cool interior decor (it is also connected to ABC Cafe and other restaurants so it might be confusing if you are dropped off by an Uber because ABC Cocina is on the 18th side but ABC Cafe is on the 19th side). Went back to ABC Cochina yesterday for lunch. Probably my sixth or seventh time at the restaurant, but the first time for lunch. Food, as always, was excellent, service, as always, was superb, and the ambiance is easy - a nice hum but not too loud. I've had a few friends try both abc kitchen and abc cocina and everyone always said they preferred abc cocina, so I thought I'd give it a try. I liked that the dishes were all tapas style so my friend and I got to try a lot from the menu and they had an extensive drinks menu. We ordered 6 dishes for the 2 of us and I felt like that was the perfect amount of food. Highly recommend, would order again: - guac and chips (honestly this surprised me because it's just guac and chips, but the chips were delicious on their own and the guac had a nice kick to it) - shrimp was most likely my favorite dish - calamari texture and seasoning was really good Fine, not great: - Maitake mushrooms were a bit bland for me - pork tacos were good but didn't blow me away - salad with apple and some kind of cheese was a pass for me Our server was excellent - checked in on us periodically and made sure we had everything we needed but did not rush us by any means. We had a 6pm reservation and the place was almost completely empty when we first arrived, but the restaurant was completely packed when we were leaving when it was almost 8pm. This place has be around a long time and is a NYC dining institution which has unfortunately slid a bit over the past few years. A most recent dinner at ABC Cocina with some girlfriends had me wondering why we spent $18 per cocktail on the drinks which sound and taste delicious but feel like they have a very minimal amount of actual alcohol in them (no one in the group felt even a hint of a buzz after having two cocktails each). The tapas dishes are very small so you have to keep ordering and ordering as the bill keeps growing and your belly is somehow not filling. Among the tapas there's hits and misses. The service is consistently good though despite it being a very loud and busy restaurant. Honestly I'll probably keep going because it's an easy meetup spot but will grumble about it afterwards. read more

First time dining at ABC Cocina, and the first impression started off a little shaky. My friend and I had a 530pm reservation and walked in and stepped to the side because the host was taking care of a couple of people who had just arrived before we did. So, while we were waiting for her to finish, a three people group came up on the other side to wait as well. So after she finished taking care of the people before us, she turned to the three group party and asked how can she helped them. Now, this is when my mind begins to wonder. I know she saw us come in and step to side, waiting. The other group wasn't even there when we arrived. Graciously, the older white lady in the group said to her (host), I believe they were here before us waiting. I let her know we had reservations, and while she checked, I turned to the lady and said, "Thank you." Now, in that moment, we looked at each other, and both understood without saying a word. What had just happened. So as she takes us to our table, she sits us next to two gentlemen in the right-hand corner. So now, I'm thinking all these tables are free, why sit us here. Maybe the seating is based on the number of people from reservations. Also, the seat was shaky as well as the table. I let my waitress know, and she took the seat away and fixed the table. Now, from this point on, everything was excellent. The servers here were amazing, attentive, polite, and friendly. We had at least 5 to 6 servers back and forth at our table, making sure everything was ok with food, water, and drinks. My rankings from what we had beef tacos#1. It was the best tasting beef I ever had in a taco, amazing. #2 calamari, perfectly seasoned crispy skin outside and tender inside with the tasty pickled onions and sauce. #3 chicken tacos perfectly seasoned crispy skin outside, tender inside and flavorful. I would like maybe something else added in taco, like the beef one. #4 the mushrooms, never had these types of mushrooms before. Great flavor and nice texture with the cheese added and their hot sauce on the the table put this dish over the top. #5 Spring pea empanada was different but tasted good, hot, and cheesy. #6 guacamole was fresh and tasted good. I never had guacamole made this way before, and chips were crisp. #7 Heart of Palm Salad was good and fresh. Just could have been a little more on the plate. A lot to say about this establishment and it's all mostly positive. The restaurant is located adjacent to its sister restaurant that is all vegetarian and if you sit outside, there is a menu available that combines dishes from both establishments. The vibe is quintessential downtown New York City with a busy side street and fancy decorations both inside and out. There is an amazing cocktail menu with fanciful combinations including a blueberry flavored whiskey sour. The taste is amazing and well crafted, expected for its pricing and geographical location of course. For food, we ordered a bunch of vegetarian dishes and felt like kings sitting on the streets of New York with a European style atmosphere. Their best dish is a cauliflower one: whole roasted cauliflower, turmeric tahini, za'atar, pomegranate, red zhug, fresh herbs, and pistachio! Also order the Green chickpea hummus, mint, ancient emmer pita and crudité. These two dishes alone demonstrate the shear power of some pretty killer vegetarian combinations. You won't be disappointed. 4 stars, and not 5 stars, due to its relatively small sample sizes and relatively high prices. read more

I've always wanted to try an abc restaurant before and finally tried abc Cocina. I was a little nervous because of the recent mixed reviews, but we had an amazing meal here! I had the frozen strawberry hibiscus sangria which was a great drink to accompany the meal. Very refreshing.
