A bit hard to find if you've never been there, nestled back behind the courtyard of the building. Small but well compartmentalized salon. Wonderful service, I wanted to treat my dry damaged hair that had been bleached a few too many times. My hair was awful when I came in, bottom two inches fried and crunchy, but I told her I hoped to grow it out and didn't want to lose much length. She did a deep conditioning treatment w/heat and then put wonderful layers in my hair. I can't stop touching my hair it's so soft and the blow out she did looked great. I never write negative reviews, but I have also never been turned away from a business like I was from Hair By Abby. I just got a new job and I was looking to spend some big bucks on a new cut and color. Abby told me to come by for a consultation Friday after 5. I showed up after 5 and waited for 20 minutes before she even acknowledged my presence. Then she asked if I could wait another 30. When I suggested I'd just come back at another time, she said, "if time is a thing for you, this probably wouldn't be the best relationship." I have no idea why this woman was so disinterested in my business. I discovered Abby at least 5 years ago (maybe longer), and the rest is history! She is amazingly talented, fun, knowledgeable, and she LISTENS!! This is quite rare in stylists in my experience. She doesn't do hair the way she would like it, she does it the way YOU WANT IT!! She will offer advice if you ask, but it is up to you if you want to accept it. Abby also doesn't try to talk you into anything you don't want or need. She goes the extra mile until you are happy, no matter how long it takes! Not only that, she has become an amazing friend, confidante and shoulder to lean on! Let me just say that I cannot thank Abby enough for what she did to help my Mom. My poor Ma who lives in Eugene was feeling down over some health issues (radiation/surgery for a brain tumor) and went to Great Clips for a trim. The trim ended up being the haircut from Hell!! It was choppy and had missing clumps on the sides. Needless to say, my mom was horrified and when I got wind of this mess (she had been crying for DAYS), I had to find someone to help. You must know that my Mom would never spend any money on herself and was planning to go on through the winter wearing a hoodie every day, but I just could not let that happen. After searching online and weeding through numerous reviews, I determined that Abby had the skills and compassion necessary to fix this disaster. I emailed Abby and got a call back right away. My plan was to purchase a gift card over the phone (I live in California) that would cover the services that Mom would need, and then surprise her with the gift. Abby was very sweet and happy to assist Mom with an appointment. I checked back with Mom after the appointment to see how everything went, and she was so excited that Abby was not only able to fix her haircut, but she even made her look years younger! I'm so happy to hear that Abby went above and beyond to make my mom feel special. Now, these are actually words from my mom ... "I love what Abby was able to do... She was so nice and took her time. She turned away 2 walk-in customers so I never felt rushed. We had the shop to ourselves so it was like therapy. Loved the whole experience." This is what her best friend said after seeing the picture... and you know BFF approval is what really matters... "Beautiful!! It frames your face perfectly. You were right about it looking great when you woke up too. It's a great cut. If you haven't already, you should get the stylists name and number and leave her yours, so you can follow her to whatever shop she moves to... Girlfriend I'm So happy things are finally beginning to go your way." So all in all, I'm absolutely amazed and thankful that Abby was not only able to fix the haircut, but she helped boost my mom's confidence and brought her out of the dumps. She not only cut my hair better than my last stylist but she created an environment for self health and encouraged me to try new ways to style my hair. She also knew some techniques that were healthier for my hair and instead of taking the short route she went the long way and made sure I left happy. Let me start by saying, I never write negative reviews. I actually found this salon on Yelp and decided to try it because she had so many 5 star reviews. I had two appointments and she was at least 40 minutes late on both. On the last appointment while I was waiting I asked if I should maybe reschedule and I was made to feel bad for asking because she had a "rough week". When my appointment came due she called me "Ms. Thang" like I was asking SO much to have an appointment on time. During the color procedure she forgot steps in the process and I had to stay longer to get finished. I feel bad because I think she may have potential, but she is not customer service oriented. read more

Can't say enough about how great this girl is when it comes to your hair! I have been going to her for almost 3 years now, and despite moving to Portland, I still drive back to Eugene for my hair appointments! I have been to so many hair stylists in my life, and no one could get it right until I came to Abby. First, the color job she does is amazing. I have natural blonde hair that already looks highlighted, but I wanted to lighten it up and bring out some of the color that is already there. Abby met this challenge with no issues whatsoever. I have received so many compliments on my hair from complete strangers to other hair stylists. And even when it grows out, my roots aren't super obvious, so I can easily stretch my time between appointments, which is great since I don't live nearby. Second, she always listens to what I want to do. I have super thick hair and most hair stylists don't want to thin it out. Abby takes the weight off, and doesn't give me a bad time about doing it! If I ask for advice on what to do with my hair, she will definitely make suggestions, but she never tries to push anything on me. She takes her time and is so thorough. I never feel rushed to get out the door. Finally, Abby has a flexible schedule, and is always able to get me in with just a quick text. I love her personality, energy, and warmth. STOLE FROM MY CREDIT CARD! After she cancelled two scheduled appointments only one hour before I was due to be there, I noticed her business address for my third appointment had changed in the auto email reminder from StyleSeat (the service that books appointments for hairstylists and collects money). The location had no parking and is in a bad neighborhood so I told her on the day before the third attempt at an appointment that this was too much and I wouldn't be using her as a hairstylist. The next day she used StyleSeat to charge my credit card $50 - For nothing beyond her being angry I dropped her. I gave StyleSeat 24 hours to return the money before I got the police involved and even posted on her business Facebook that she had 24 hours to return the money or I would be charging her with theft. She deleted the comment and did nothing to return the money. StyleSeat did back out the $50 charge and cancelled my StyleSeat account at my request (which is the only way their customers have of stopping anyone in their network from stealing from your credit cards). I regret not just going to the police immediately but at least I have have my money back and anyone reading Yelp is warned that Abby Weinstein will do insane criminal things to the people around her. Addenda: Abby's Weinstein's reponse is a collection of more lies. She had my phone number, email address, facebook account - And I was threatening her with the police if she didn't get back to me. Taking the money and blowing me off was insane. Abby, you are lucky I gave StyleSeat 24 hours to fix this. The next person you steal from should immediately call the police. read more

I've been seeing Abby for about two years and every haircut has been fantastic. It can be hard to find someone who cuts hair so well and so consistently. I have mid length straight hair and she does a very nice cut that gives it body and lasts at least three months. For me I couldn't ask for better. read more

Abby is a miracle worker!! I was in Eugene on business from NYC for a month and was in desperate need of a haircut. Pretty sure I was the definition of a stylists' nightmare--I had shaved the side of my head a couple months before and it was growing out. I was a brand new client and I wanted a drastically shorter cut. Abby did not trip! She took her time, asked questions and looked at pictures to understand exactly what I was thinking. She gave me the CUTEST little A-line which completely camouflaged my half-grown-out undercut. She even took the time to teach me how to style it with a round brush. 4 months later, I haven't cut my hair once (except to trim my bangs) and I'm STILL getting compliments on my hair-- Sometimes from complete strangers! I live in New York, so you'd think I could find a stylist as good or even better than Abby, but I honestly can't.
