    The bread comes out hot from the oven. Crispy crust and hot moist doughy center. Best bread! Mussels with champagne sauce: I've heard of mussels with white wine sauce but never with champagne sauce. The mussels were big and juicy. The fusilli is homemade. Definitely get that. I had mine with bolognese sauce. The pasta was cooked to perfection. My brother-in-law finished his whole plate of seafood scampi. Nothing was left. Portions are pretty good. The rest of us couldn't finish our meal. Veal Parmesan. Veal had a bite to it. The meat was pounded thin. The sauce is delicious. Our server, Julia, is a doll. Very hard working. She was seating people, taking orders, answering phones, bringing our food over--all with a smile. It's hard to find good people that work like her. She's a keeper. I had mentioned that I loved the bread. I got extra bread when I had my food packed. I was so happy! We will definitely be back. It's worth the drive. And we found a parking spot right in front of the restaurant.

    Brunch was so good we came back for dinner! Can't beat the prices for breakfast - the french toast and breakfast sandwich were delicious. The cordon bleu (special catering menu) was impeccable and 10/10 recommend the pistachio martini! The whole table got it. Service is excellent and ambiance is lovely.

    First time there because of a conference nearby. Food was really good. Seafood was so fresh, everything was cooked to perfection, including the calamari. The bread they serve is one of the best I've eaten in a restaurant. Julia waited on us so attentive and with great care. The place felt upscale enough and the best prices.

    Piccata and Parm!

    We love this place. Last night we went for Valentine's Day and it was spectacular. The calamari was fresh and well seasoned, the warm homemade bread is AMAZING! I got the chicken piccata and my husband got the chicken parm. The portions are enormous and super fresh and so so tasty. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the staff , even though spectacularly busy, was attentive and helping each other out with tables. For the quality and quantity of food the prices can't be beat. The ONLY downside was the chill from sitting by the window, it was pretty chilly, but that didn't ruin anything for us!

    Food is excellent but wish they had later hours as I work late . Restaurant is clean and staff is friendly and on point for serving

I didn't mind that much since it was actually pretty tight and cozy so it actually brought up the energy I think. We already had reservations, so we received a fairly quickly, and the white stuff were very professional and courteous. The food did not disappoint. The calamari came out fresh and hot. Crispy and the banana peppers gave it just the right heat. The marinara sauce paired well with it. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was done in a cute heart shaped, so that was delightful. Lobster was done perfectly and the slightly spicy sauce of the pasta paired beautifully. My favorite was actually the marsala. The Fusilli was done perfectly al dente and soaked in that delicious sauce that was flavorful and clung so well to the pasta. The chicken breast was well marinated and super tender and juicy. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to order this again next time.

We walked in here on a Sunday afternoon and stopped at Cafe Amaro since they had open tables. The restaurant is very small probably about 10 or so tables. We sat right up against the kitchen which was warm since it was a bit chilly outside. After about 5-8 minutes went by our server came over and we asked to sample 2 glasses of wine. They were not good at all. After tasting one more we finally landed on the Chianti. We then waited longer to place our order which was the Prosciutto and Fig pizza. I also ordered a soda water with lemon which never came. Note: there are 2 servers and I believe 1 speaks English but I am not 100% sure. Once our server finally came over my husband had to remind him of the soda water which he proceeded to say "we only have large bottles." Ok, thanks for letting me know since the other server/busser did not. Does he work here? Does he know the menu? Why wouldn't he tell me this the first place? Our pizza finally came and even after ordering it well done it was still floppy and flimsy to the point when everytime we went to pick up the slice everything fell off...UGH! I don't know how in the North End this place gets by or survives? Maybe they were having an off day? I do see other reviews that had better experiences than ours. Maybe they were short on staff? If that was the case then say something because I probably would've had more patience and understanding if this was the case. BTW, Our server NEVER came over after ordering our wines and pizza. He never asked "how is everything?" NEVER... I also rarely give one/two stars to restaurants but this was despicable and I really hope this is not their norm. All I have to say is there are so many other better restaurants in the North End to go to, but Cafe Amaro is not one of them.

Once delicious salads were served, another couple arrived at the table next to us and we overheard their waiter read them that night's specials. My wife really liked one of them and would have ordered that if we had been given the option. About 5 minutes after we finished our salads the entrees arrived. I took a bite of pasta and it was undercooked. Very tough and chewy. I took a bite of the chicken parm and that was also tough and dry. Overcooked. I told my wife and we decided rather than send it back we would just get some extra sauce to make it edible. I got the sauce from someone who might have been a manager or possibly an owner,, but the chicken was just so dry it only did so much. I am normally a finish your plate kind of guy, but I couldn't even come close. I ate about a third of the pasta and about half the parm. I offered a taste of the chicken parm to my wife and she agreed it was dry and tough. Several minutes after we were served our waiter finally came back and asked how things were. I told him I had gotten the extra sauce and that the dry chicken was a little better with that. Unfortunately, he didn't ask anything about the meal and why I was asking for the extra sauce. He just left the table and went on to serving others. In fairness, my wife's salmon was excellent according to her. My wife and I typically travel to the North end for Italian once a year. We have probably been doing it for a couple of decades. Sadly, this was the worst plate of food I've gotten in all of that time. Your local pizza shop could have done a better job for the chicken parm, without a doubt. I know I could have sent it back, but you know how that is... Your table guest is left to eat theirs alone and then yours arrives 15 minutes later and then you are eating alone. If the waiter had really been paying attention, he would have come by the table right after we were served and had a couple of bites. Additionally, when the meal was done and he saw my plates were barely eaten, you would think he would have said something. Sadly, neither of those things happened.
