He walked us through the property and educated us about important things to consider with our purchase. He responded to emails quickly and thoroughly. This past week the fence was installed. 2 1/2 years and still no dog fence! I give 2 stars because the aluminum fencing that was put in looks nice; 1 star because I still can't turn my dog out in my yard! In October 2020, I got the estimate for aluminum fence plus vinyl fencing to go through a forested part of my property. The whole purpose of the project was and IS to have a fenced yard for my 70 lb rescue dog. In February 2021, I was given 2 days' notice before the install. I told them I had to leave for work before 9 but was promised the crew would be there beforehand. They didn't come until around 10. I got a call while at work asking where the fence should go! They wound up installing the aluminum fence on my own side of my own hedge resulting in wrong measurements. Gates did not fit. Some of the rest wasn't correctly measured either. I then waited 5 months for their return to fix the issues and complete the project. Because they were a week later than promised, I had already left for vacation by this next install attempt. After returning, my dog almost immediately tore a hole in the vinyl fencing which was made of the flimsiest material possible (though I was clear to everyone I spoke with at Abbey that this fence was meant for my dog whom they all met in person!). I have repeatedly called and requested remediation and experienced multiple rounds of dropping the ball. Multiple calls, multiple visits, no ownership of responsibility. Most recently, they were willing to install another fence type but at a premium and with no discount or refund. Though they FINALLY admit to "shared responsibility"; the whole thing has been perfectly awful with no resolution. I've been dragged along, neglected, forgotten, and essentially blamed for choosing the wrong fence type even though I consulted THEM (the fencing experts) about the project! read more

When we first moved into our new home last Fall we got a couple of estimates for fences. They were both well beyond ridiculous, especially considering that we only have a little postage stamp of a back yard.) We decided to try again in the Spring, 2 companies, (not the original ones,) less expensive plan. We set up estimates with both. One company stood me up for the estimate, took an hour to respond to the text I sent a half hour after our appointment time, and gave a ridiculous non-apology. DISQUALIFIED). In contrast, Jason from Abbey Fence & Deck communicated excellently, came on time, was thorough and efficient. The estimate was less than half what others told us in the Fall. He gave us a realistic time estimate and stayed in communication the whole time. They underpromised and over delivered ! Our installation date was set nearly a month ahead of what he had said. The crew that came out was thoughtful, thorough, fast and GOOD! They had it done in one day. They not only cleaned up after themselves, but also took a pile of tree debris from my initial trimming in prep for their arrival! Loved the fence they in stalled for my sister but unfortunately they put it short of her property line. The fence supervisor came out for final inspections and did not see the problem. Now she is receiving fines from the county because of overgrown grass on the other side of fence which the neighbor refuses to cut since it's not on his property. read more

We signed a contract with Abbey on July 8, 2022. We provided our credit card information for the ~$1400 deposit, the fence area was staked out, and were told our fence would be installed in 8-12 weeks. After 8 weeks came and went, I repeatedly called the sales person, Paul Stesch. When his voice mailbox wasn't "full", my messages were ignored. After multiple phone calls (the final message being that I was getting angry and needed an update ASAP) he finally called me back to let me know that Abbey Fence was having "lots of trouble with aluminum fencing" and he had "bad news" - they never ordered any materials and have no intention of honoring the contract that was signed. Since Abbey never "processed" our signed agreement, according to Mr. Stesch, its "not really a contract". Not only will I never hire this company for anything again, I will be leaving reviews everywhere I can and I already have a call into the MHIC. read more

Dear Abbey Fence & Deck Co., I write this post to share with my folks a warning to NOT use your company. When I called to alert you to issues, with the fence your company installed, it took you weeks to send someone out. After you informed me you would only replace 3 of the 7 rotted posts, and "fix" a couple, AT MY COST, you did not return any of my honest but respectful calls to discuss the situation. When I phoned to ask why this wasn't covered under your stated warranty, you did NOT return my call. When I called to ask how you intended to fix a post that was totally rotted, with nothing in the ground to fix, you did NOT return my call. When I asked if you could send a supervisor out to review the fence and situation with me, you did NOT return my call. When I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau you did NOT respond. A fence under 5 years of age, should not have the majority of fence posts entirely rotting away unless it was improperly installed with poor workmanship and substandard materials. A respectful company would return calls. A reputable company would stand by their warranty. A trustworthy company would not lie. I suggest you review your business practices and look up the definition of customer service and karma. read more

We shopped around to find a fence contractor we felt we could trust. Abbey wasn't the cheapest option but also not the most expensive, and their sales rep seemed professional and told us what we wanted to hear. Once the deposit was paid and the contract was signed, stating the work would start in 4-5 weeks, it was radio silence. We understand weather can be a factor but after 9 weeks I couldn't believe we hadn't even gotten a call from them. After calling several times (they didn't call back, we had to keep calling), we finally got on the schedule. When work started, there were features about our property that made some of our choices not workable- something that a real professional should have identified when they came out to give us the estimate. The actual guys doing the install are doing a nice job, but are being encouraged by the project manager (who has never even stopped by the house) to rush through, doing a shotty job just to get it done. They were supposed to come back to finish today but didn't show, so we have a partially finished fence, random fence parts all over our yard, and no communication from Abbey as to when we can expect completion. Really wishing we had either gone with the cheaper option if we were going to get such poor quality work or the more expensive option to get a professional company. Would absolutely not recommend this to anyone. read more

Customer service is lacking. I've been looking for quotes in the area and ran across Abbey. I had to follow up with them (instead of it being the other way around). The person that came by the house was very unfriendly. When i called for a follow up, the woman on the phone was unfriendly as well. I'm sorry, but if I'm going to pay thousands of dollars on a fence, I should get some manners. read more

Hired Abby & Fence to install a wood fence. The work itself was great and well done however, learned afterwards that Abby doesn't obtain actual property lines from the County. They just assume where the property lines are therefore, my fence was two feet short of the property line which they refused to correct. I will not hire them to do any additional work on my property nor do I recommend their services. read more

I paid close to 7k for a fence with Abbey Fence and Deck the verbal guarantee by my salesman was, "All pickets that fall are guaranteed. We don't cover gate's (mine lasted 6 months) but we will always keep the pickets up. Our name is on it. We want it to look good. We build our fences one picket at a time and will always stand by it." Abbey came out 2 yrs ago and did an amazing job fixing the 9 pickets that fell. This year they said no only if we give them over 400$. This is not what we were promised and I would hate for any of our friends or family to be subjected to a guarantee that they do not stand by. read more

When we wanted a fence put in I opted for the hassle free approach - I wanted my portion of the project to be signing a check. Abbey fence was very fast on the install, very responsive to my questions and very quick to cash the check. Unfortunately, after that all I had to rely on for any problems was their reputation and 'lifetime guarantee' for all workmanship issues. Well, I had some workmanship issues - a door that didn't close properly. You had to physically push the fence away from the door to get it to close, otherwise the caps banged each other and the door wouldn't close. It was bad enough that my girlfriend couldn't close it because she wasn't strong enough. So we called and they came out in a few days and... left business cards to prove they were there. When I called they told me they had fixed everything and didn't see any more problems. They didn't do anything at all to the fence from what I could tell. I was told it was fine and to give it some time to see if the fence settled. Fast forward a year and the problem has gotten worse if anything. So I called back and asked them to come out again. Since all they did was leave business cards last time I told them I wanted to be there to show them the problem. They took my information down and told me they'd call back within a week or so. Three weeks later and I can't get anyone to return a call, let alone fix my fence. In my opinion you're better off using another company. The salesman will make a pitch about the reputation of the company and how they stand behind their work, but that certainly hasn't been my experience. Everything went beautifully, from our first meeting with the extremely knowledgeable Brian Kish to the installation of the final piece of lattice work under our deck. The price was quite reasonable--we got three estimates. Our finished deck is beautiful! As an extra benefit, the crew was easy to have around for eight days and even the noise level was minimal. Their prices are ridiculous, out of the whole experience I'd have to give my 5 + stars for the crew who I can tell works their fingers to the bone to provide the best work humanly possible.
