This was our 2nd time using Creative Deck. This review is for customer awareness. We contacted the company and discussed these matters with them before posting this. #1 - Although we are the property/homeowner, you do not have to be home during install. We are nervous homeowners. We took off work to be there. Unlike other construction we have used, Creative has only ONE crew that installs. That weight is on the ONE foreman who will have to take off work unexpectedly. No one showed. #2 - Calls the day of. We were called the morning of and asked "Can they come today?" We felt this "same day" scheduling was very erratic, compared to what we experienced with this company before. #3 - Customers - mark your wires and inform your adjuster. Your buried internet and automower wires are not marked by the Utility company. Inform your adjuster so he/she can help you get these marked. The 3-star rating was a 1-star. The company took time to speak with us about the issues, so we are showing some teamwork. Gary has been there for decades and knows his stuff. The management here - doesn't have time for conversation or empathy. They will throw the paper work back in at you, and you can see that response in their comments to reviews here. Sometime everything legal isn't moral/correct. We aren't sure we will use them again. It just seems sloppy and unorganized for our type of property ownership. I would not recommend. I read reviews that identified poor communication with this company, but I had a few good reliable referrals, so went with them. I addressed the need for good communication prior to signing the contract. I was assured this was not the case, that people are just bitter, and I was assured good teamwork. Well...Communication was HORRIBLE. Job was supposed to be done in 3-4 days, took over a month to build my fence (from first dig until completion). Excuses included: our guy unexpectedly left the country for the month, our machines broke down, we realized we didn't have the parts (tied a plastic bag around the gate instead of a latch and left without talking to me), we need to come back and dig bigger holes (fence came dissembled and parts leaned), broke a pool pipe and needed to order. When I spoke to Jim and stated that I was at the point of writing a poor review. He replied, "Well, when it rains it pours; Some customers have good experiences." I met the project manager 3 WEEKS after initiating the job because I went outside to talk to them. Project manager NEVER knocked on my door or reached out to communicate these problems or delays. Returning calls were always a different person and it took over a week to respond to emails unless I mentioned BBB. I informed them that I wanted to discuss the final payment. They returned my call while I was out of town for the holidays and then charged my cc without my consent. Again, do not recommend! read more

I would highly recommend against using this company. I was given a reasonable quote from them for a new fence for my yard, so that my dog can play without getting out. I decided to go ahead and signed a contract and scheduled the work. The work was completed in a reasonable amount of time, however this is about all that went well. The fence was installed very sloppily with several issues. I immediately tried to resolve these issues with creative deck design, however they argued and refused to do anything. They will not stand by their work at all, and will instead insist that it was the best that they can do. Eventually the issues were resolved with my fence, after several months repeatedly asking them to resolve the issues. However I can't give any better review because these issues should have never been there in the first place. Additionally when if issues did arise, they should have been addressed rather than trying to avoid fixing it. For anyone else considering this company, please read the reviews and pay attention to the bad reviews. we had our deck and patio room built in 2008. This year, 2022, the deck needed repairs. I was falsely under the impression that this work had a "lifetime" guarantee. i called and learned that wasn't the case. However i attempted to arrange for a service call anyway, because the deck needed to be repaired. i called several times understood that my "work order" was in the que and someone will be contacting me THAT WAS IN FEBRUARY .. My wife and I visited the showroom one Saturday. We wanted a vinyl railing to replace our 26 year old metal porch railing. The salesman came out the very next Monday to take measurements and provide me with several options. The install was started on a Friday. Once the install was started I was very impressed that even though it took several days, they never missed a workday. Even when it rained part of the day, the installer worked the other half of the day. No wasted time. I had one minor detail that I wanted fixed (1 upside down spindle). Within an hour of calling the office with my request, the installer was out and made the fix. (Very professional, couldn't ask for better service). read more

David the person whi deals with complains is unprofessional and and big liar. I followed up about my complain, and he sinply said to me that "he is on his own, and he also have life outside work" like as if it is my problem to deal With their short staff. He told me that he will come and check week that week and never did see him nor his shadow. Followed up the following week, and he claimed that he went to my house and check the construction, like ok, why I he did not even knock on my house and see me the owner, he just sneaked around my property? And said that he took pictures which I believer he was onlh looking at the pictures that I sent him over the internet. And I informed him that he should come and see me personally the next visit he will make, and said that he will try and fix the minor problem Of my fence, Of course he never came. We own a home in Owings Mills Md, We met Gary Beard at the Timonium Home and Garden show in March 2018. We had pretty much decided on another company for the tear down and rebuild our new deck. Gary was incredibly knowledgeable and went over all of our options and products, two days later he came to our home to give us an estimate and he drafted up the new deck plans and told us to come to their warehouse in White Marsh to look at all of the products. We were super impressed with all of the options they had to choose from. We were able to visualize and really get an idea of what the final product would look like. We also had the opportunity at that visit to meet with one of the owners Bob who worked along with Gary and really put together a great package together for us. They both worked with us to give us everything we wanted. The team that tore down and built the deck was Gary and Dominic and their crew, they also went above and beyond to make our new deck and backyard look beautiful. During that time we spoke to Gary about eventually extending the deck and adding on a sunroom. If we did it down the road it needed to be done in two separate phases. Not long after our first phase was completed May of 2018, in September of 2019 Gary was back at our home drafting up once again our final project to our backyard and adding another addition, an EZ breeze sunroom to make it all complete. The new team was Chris who was the main foreman, a great group of men and super talented. Each day they were there, their work was impeccable. They would belt out an enormous amount in one day. They cleaned everything after each and every visit. One of the Owners Frank would periodically stop by to make sure that everything was running smoothly and he would even partake in some of the actual task that needed to be done. From stat to finish everyone we encountered from this company was A number one and the quality of work showed every step of the way. Our final project is absolutely stunning. Overall to say the least we highly recommended this company Creative Deck Design to everyone we know and we have sent other clients their way. After friends and family saw their work they were equally impressed. Thanks to Gary, Bob & Frank and the rest of the Creative Deck Design team for making our backyard dreams come true. Proejct was supposed to be completed by the end of May. My yard has been a construction zone for 2 months. If it's done by mid-July, I'd be shocked. Terrible communication from the company, excuses for why they can't deliver as promised. I do not recommend this company. The salesman will say anything to get you to sign the contract, then it's just one issue after another. I will revise this post if that changes, but at this point, I'm afraid it will turn into a legal issue where I have to hire another company to finish the mess that's here. We had 2 decks built and were extremely pleased with the service provided by Creative Deck. We shopped around and they were the best value. Gary Beard was friendly, responsive, patient and clear. They had a range of products so we could stay in our budget or go higher end. The workers who built the deks were hardworking, courteous, and knowledgeable. They showed up, did a super job, and cleaned up afterward. We love the way the decks turned out and I have already recommended them to my sister. Just FYI: the Fiberon decking material we chose did take 10 weeks to arrive, so we had to wait for our project, but that would be true for any builder in 2021. read more

Company delivered as promised! The process was very easy and the company did a good job of delivering what they promised. When we ordered the deck they said it would take between 8-12 weeks to start. They were actually able to get started in about 6 weeks! The install time quoted was 1-2 weeks. We were all installed within 1 week, despite one of the helpers not showing up. The installer was very polite (yes sir, yes ma'am, etc...) when communicating with me and my wife. The job turned out great and we could not be happier with our new deck. read more

He understood what I was trying to accomplish perfectly and laid out the plan for the new railing. The office staff were great - keeping me informed throughout the process. We came to the showroom to inquire about fencing and to see samples. The receptionist was nice. The you g man who was the salesman barely acknowledged us, didn't get up from behind the desk and answered our question reluctantly abs was quite rude and disinterested in us. read more

I had a plan for a deck in the near future that was gonna be a huge project and had been given advice to go to Creative Deck Designs. WOW! What a huge mistake! I called them the next day and they had a guy named Gary Beard come to examine what I wanted and give me an estimate. He was like, 'You know this is gonna be a $150,000. job sir, Do you really have the money?' Seriously?! How unbelievably rude! Then he tells me that he has to write up a ball park figure for everything I want. I waited a whole month and never heard back from him. I finally called him yesterday and he was like, 'Got a customer , Ill call you back later.' When I called and asked to speak with the manager this morning about how he treated me and he was like, 'Well he had a customer, sorry.' I told him this was after a month of waiting. He goes on to say, 'Well what do you want me to do about it sir?' I was like, 'Uh you may want to start off by firing or at least writing this guy up for how he treated me. He was like, 'Can't do that sir.' I was like Whhhaattt??? and I hung up on him. This is the second time I had Gary Beard come and give us an estimate. The first time was last year when we were getting fence quotes and recently for a pool deck quote. I forgot I had him quote us on the fence until he showed up the second time. The first thing he said was.... yea I was here before to give you a quote on your fence and I see you didn't go with me. Did you go with so and so? (I won't mention the other company's name). I said yes. He said I'm surprised because I'm always cheaper then them. As the meeting went on, I had remembered why I didn't go with him the first time. He had a bad attitude. The same as the first time he came out! And that was a simple fence project. I wish I would've remembered, I would never have called him! Yes, my husband and I didn't know exactly how we wanted the deck designed for a pool, that's why we called him....to come, we tell him what we're thinking and he gives us ideas. They are a design company, right? Instead he was impatient, rude and you could tell we were wasting his time. He finally said he would send us an estimate. I'm not holding my breath! Creative Deck Design Company is the worst Company and people I ever encountered in my life! The vinyl fence was terribly damaged during the wind storm on March 2,2018. The fence was installed in 2017 July, not a year old and is breaking down. We called Cdd Company numerous times about repairing the fence they installed. Each time we called, they told us that they would call us in a couple of days to discuss repairing the fence. They never called us back. We called them back and I spoke to Gary Beard and he told me to find someone else to repair our fence that they installed. When we met Gary (salesperson) we thought something wasn't pleasant about his presentation to us. He was not friendly and his communication skills were non-impressionable. Our fence has many errors. I.e., uneven, sections have panels loose, gate locks do not work properly, and Cdd refuse to honor their work. The company displayed towards us impertinent, despicable, ignorant, prejudice behavior towards us! Ryan, the crew leader lacked leadership skills. The crew was lazy with little motivation. The staff also were not helpful at all. No matter who we talked to gave us the run around. We would not recommend this company to anyone anywhere, no way, no how! We rate this company a D-minus., not a half star. read more

We contracted to build an enclosed porch and deck with Creative Deck Designs. We've had it now for just under 2 years. The porch has those plastic windows they sell. The windows are awful. Whenever you open or close them they fall out of the track, come down separately and/or slide open from the top when you pull down to close. No matter how gently or carefully you try to open/close them they do not behave as they should. They are impossible to clean. Additionally, where the decking meets the door to go onto the porch there is a slight down hill which we addressed with them before they left the job site. Whatever they did to make the transition smooth did not last. The entire process of working with them was horrible. They took over 6 months to "finish" the job with many issues with disgruntled employees and no shows when work was to be done. The promised completion date was completely ignored. I definitely do not recommend them or their product. read more

Easy sale! We went into the store after doing our homework. Spend over 10,000 in 30 minutes. Salesman was great, thank you Braden. Everything fell a part after the company had our money. Delivery came without the 60 minute out courtesy call as told, no big deal. We where suppose to have delivered everything but three sections of railing that they were short. The salesman gathered all the railing in stock the day before delivery to have sent to us. The person the sent the truck out deecided we did not need any railing until the three missing parts were in stock (I was to pickup the delayed rails). I called and talked to Bob the owner and he did not seem to think it was a big deal that we didn't get what was promised in the delivery. He said it would not have made a difference if we did receive the rails in stock because there were no pole sleeves and nothing can be done without sleeves. My husband get home and looked at the deck boards and all 66 of the inside boatds were the wrong color. The next day the correct color was delivered with the rails that was previously promised. 5 full sets for railing along with ALL the sleeves were delivered. The owner Bob lied to me about the railing and thought it was funny that i was upset set about it. So now is deck building weekend. Framed everything out and went to put down the vinyl decking and no the concealic that holds the boards together they were missing. We were shorted 4 boxes and the boards can not go down without these. I loved the delivery guy Charles but would not give the owner who is a liar and thought it was funny that I was upset another penny of my hard earned money. Please do not use this company. They DO NOT stand behind their work or their products. We had a brand new synthetic deck installed and shortly therafter it started to fade. After finally coming out to look at it they agreed to replace the faded boards and take care of the problem. Unfortunately, they never showed up and then when I finally was able to reach the owner, Bob Lehman, he said it was my problem or a manufacturer's and they would not fix anything. He even lied and said they never sold the materials ( Azek) that they installed and that he tried to talk me out of using this particular brand. None of this is true. When I reminded him that they had a large sample of the decking installed in front of their showroom and that's how I noticed the particular brand, he retracted this and said "well I don't sell it anymore". Bottom line is that this is not a reputable company that will not stand behind their work or products if there is a problem. I notice that the owner sent a comment and I would like to respond. I never sprayed anything on the deck. That is just pure speculation on his part and another one of his lies! We probably didn't notice the fading until the spring because we did not use the deck much at all until the spring. This is a brand new neck that is faded and he should stand behind his product. At the very least he should bring the manufacturer out to take a look at it to see how the problem can be rectified. He refuses to do anything but make up excuses and spout lies. read more

I had an addition built and my deck resurfaced and had composite rails added. I wanted the deck to match my siding, and creative brought out samples and I found the perfect match. I have used Creative Deck Designs a couple of times now and have been pleased with the results. I had my fencing replaced in the back yard about three years ago. The rep who assessed the job was very professional. He explained all my options and showed me photos of jobs they had done. He gave me a very competitive price. The job was started when promised. The work was skillfully completed to my good pleasure. I was so pleased with the job that they did on my fence that when I needed my front porch redone, I called them. They replaced supporting pillars and put in new railings in composite material which by the way are very easy to clean. In my opinion, you can't go wrong using Creative Deck Designs. read more
