OMG sexy, gorgeous delicious fun. ENCHANTING is how I would describe this place. This gorgeous restaurant is a total standout. it is take your breath away beautiful! You should sit on the gorgeous patio if you can. Have your birthday party here if you can and eat everything off the menu if you can! We had it all! The server said the portions "were small", ummmmm... they are not. You can share the delish skewers between two or even three people. The small plates are not that small. I thought the portions were very, very generous and we came home stuffed! TOO MUCH FOOD! We were so inspired by the menu that we ordered way too much! I love the new app in which you used to pay with, especially for a large group. Fancy! This is one of the most romantic restaurants I have been to. It's perfect for a fun group of people or a really romantic date night. We had so much fun. We didn't want to leave to go to our next destination. GO!
This was my first time at Aba. I'd heard great things and really liked the atmosphere, but unfortunately my experience was just okay. The food was decent overall, although the chicken skewers were noticeably overcooked. My bigger concern, however, was the cleanliness of the artificial trees and greenery throughout the restaurant. There was a significant amount of visible dust buildup all over the branches and leaves, and this wasn't isolated to the tree near our table. Even more concerning, we could actually see dust particles floating through the air while we were eating. Much of the greenery hangs directly above or around the dining tables, so seeing that much accumulated dust--and then seeing it airborne--was pretty unsettling in a restaurant. The space itself is beautiful and I can understand why Aba is so popular, but the greenery is a major design feature and really needs to be included in a routine deep-cleaning schedule. Hopefully management addresses it, because the dust definitely took away from what otherwise could have been a much better first experience.
This restaurant space is beautifully done inside and you can also sit out on their balcony patio, which is such a nice option as well. They have the decor down to the details. We got the smoky garlic hummus, whipped feta, brussel sprouts, and lemon meringue bar for dessert, and honestly everything was amazing. The harissa honey on the brussel sprouts was so good, and the lemon meringue bar with the citrus crema and graham cracker crust was the perfect sweet item to round out the meal. They bring complementary pita with your hummus and dips and the bread with za'atar itself was delicious. They recommend 2-3 share plates per person, but we ordered 3 plus dessert for two people and still had leftovers. So I'd say it definitely depends on how hungry you are! We went for lunch/brunch and were pretty much the first people there, so service was super fast. Our server was lovely and incredibly attentive with topping off water and clearing plates. Definitely would come back to try some of their larger plate options.
Had a great experience at Aba during the weekend of August 9. Food was great, especially the intro hummus spreads, the drinks were very fresh, i loved that they weren't too sweet. Service was exceptional and the wait staff was extremely kind (they let us stay at the restaurant and extra 30 minutes during a freak torrential downpour). And of course the restaurant itself was beautiful, I'd recommend pictures in the lobby downstairs as the restaurant itself is more intimate.
Came here with my coworkers to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately I have to deduct stars due to service. We're convinced that the waiter either forgot to put in more than half of our meals or the kitchen lost our ticket, but either way our wait time for our food was unacceptable. We're also convinced that the one persons plate who had probably been ready for a long time had been sitting there because her meal was cold. All of ours when the waiter went to check for the 3rd time finally came out hot. For the wait we got 1 appetizer deducted. I didn't get photos of all the food but the star of the show was the hummus! I also had the crab cakes as my meal and it was tasty with an interesting purée. Not sure if I'd come back as it is a pricey place. I will say that their decor is top notch. I'm told it's Californian Mediterranean inspired.

We came in from out of town and on short notice was able to grab a table at 3:30pm for a late lunch. The place is beautiful with a lively terrace on nice days but also a very open and bright interior with modern decor. We were seated right away at a table off to the side of the bar area. We must have waited like 15-20 minutes before anyone even realized that we were there. It seemed as though none of the servers running around serving other tables around us had our table to service. Eventually we caught the attention of who I can only imagine was a manager or supervisor who finally came over to take our orders. We ordered the Smokey garlic hummus which fresh pita bread and this was very good. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and the Brussel sprouts as a side. These were also nice and crispy and the brussel sprouts had a tasty kick with the harissa honey. For our main we had the chicken kebab which was perfectly cooked and tender, braised short rib (not as good), and the shawarma skirt steak frite. We quite enjoyed our meal and everything very fast which more than made up for the initial delay in service. For dessert we decided to share a frozen Greek yogurt with Olive Oil and sea salt. This had an interesting taste with a tanginess at the end. I'm not sure I would order this again but you could tell the Greek yogurt was of very good quality. All in all we enjoyed our meal at Aba and would definitely come back if in town.
Walked in for a spontaneous dinner based on the overwhelming positive feedback seen online. The ambiance in the restaurant was more of an elevated, classy vibe. It was very busy but we were able to secure bar seating luckily. We ordered the whipped feta as an appetizer, along with the salmon kebab for our main course. We loved both and the portion sizes were great! Highly recommend this spot and will definitely be coming back!!
I first discovered Aba around the time they had first opened up and it was such an amazing dining experience, that I made a reservation again when I came back into town all these years later. I have to admit... it's not the same as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent place to dine at, especially on their patio during the Chicago summer, which was one of the biggest reasons why I came back. I was with someone who had not explored Chicago before so it definitely gave the city ambience while being engulfed in the Mediterranean experience. Yet the inside dining area feels like you're dining in small romantic villages in Italy or Greece. Service is still top notch. But the food is what's not the same. For me, the highlight was the crispy short rib hummus. I never thought they'd go well together but the juices from the meat blended in with the hummus and it's just soooo good. The kefta was nothing to be impressed about in which I expected more for the price we paid for. The chicken thighs were good but also nothing to be that impressed about. The one thing I was a little disappointed by is that they no longer serve a desert I tried the first time I was there, and their new desserts are average. Nothing to marvel about. Their OG desert is what had stayed in my mind all these years. You can't go wrong for a nice little date night at this spot or if you're new to the city, but it's not exactly a place I feel like I want to come back to, especially at that price. You're really mostly paying for the experience of the place.
Food 3/5 We got whipped feta, short rib hummus, and Brussels sprouts for apps and they were great individually but dip the Brussels in the whipped feta and it's even better. We got the steak frites, chicken kebab, crab cakes, grilled chicken kebab for our entrees and they were pretty mid. We honestly could have skipped them. The ambiance is always great in there. The music and the lighting. The server was great answering our questions about wines.
This place was good, can't give it 5 stars bc some of the foods were bland and dry, but the standout dish was the shrimp!! It was incredible, so flavorful and made like escargot. It was hands down the best dish. A must try for sure. Service was smooth and the outdoor rooftop area is super nice!
Went to Aba for my husband's birthday. Reservation was for 8pm we waited a little bit to be seated. We grabbed drinks while we waited. I had the freeda vita I really liked that it was refreshing and great for a hot day. I also had a expresso martini but it was not as good as some other local restaurants in the area. Our favorite dishes were the green chili shrimp, whipped feta and garlic hummus. The falafel and taziki was good. The beef and lamb kabob was dry the rice was delicious. I think the dips could be better if they had crispy pita bread or chips vs soft pita we needed texture. The sticky date cake was burnt at the bottom. Had a bad taste. The short ribs were just okay. The ambiance was okay I didnt like the music and it was just super loud. Overall I al happy I tried it but will likely not go back. They also charged us for a birthday dessert which I wasn't expecting. The waiter was not excellent he was pretty average didnt do anything to wow me.
Elevated, clean cuisine that is becoming a Chicago classic. Food was fantastic. Dishes are elevated yet carry a rustic charm resembling what you would get from a mom-and-pop restaurant. No dish was too heavy with oils or grease or fats which left us feeling full and satisfied without the groggy food coma. Flavors sing Mediterranean, and truly can't pick a wrong item. If I had to make a recommendation, the mushroom hummus for vegetarians is devine!! For the beef lovers out there, I've been recommended the short rib hummus countless times and I'm certain it would hit the spot. Unfortunately not the best Mediterranean food I've had in town, but definitely a can't miss place when making your restaurant hit list. The ambiance is also elegant and fit for an upscale Mediterranean meal. The indoor section is beautiful but I hear outdoor section is just as great of an experience. Again, can't go wrong on where you choose to make your reservation. The service is where the restaurant falls a bit short. They get incredibly busy and as a result it took over an hour to receive our meal. Was it worth the wait? Definitely, but wish the service could have been a bit more attentive also. Rating: 4/5

I would like to start by saying that this was a wonderful experience. I came here for an anniversary and definitely didn't leave disappointed. By far, it was one of the greatest service we've received, with the waiter being a very charismatic gentleman. Whenever he spoke, my girlfriend would keep saying that he had a very encapsulating way of speaking and he could convince her to do almost anything he said. Onto the vibes of the place, it was very beautiful. Walking in, you are greeted by a gorgeous chandelier and an elevator leading you to the restaurant which elevated the experience and made it feel more luxurious. It took us a bit to get seated, which was understandable because we came earlier than we booked our reservation for. However, there were several seats left unfilled that were still vacant by the time we were seated, which might have been due to the restaurant being nearly fully booked and the guests running late. The food was fine, but wasn't the best I've eaten. I read various reviews saying that the hummus is a must-have so we ordered the crispy short rib hummus, which was delicious with the house bread, but I have had better hummus elsewhere. Regardless, it was still quite good. We had also ordered the lamb & beef kefta and the halibut, which were delicious and seasoned quite well, but there weren't any extraordinary traits about them that made them stand out. My girlfriend also ordered a mocktail, and I, myself, a cocktail, both of which I had forgotten the names of, and the mocktail tasted quite good but the cocktail I had ordered was honestly one of the worst cocktails I've tasted. It may have just been a personal preference, as the tables around me seemed to have the same drink as I had and enjoyed it, but I was just not very fond of it. read more

Fantastic experience!! Went to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and we had a lovely time. All of the food we ordered was great and had nuanced flavors. I thought that the service was great, and my water glass was always filled! Aba is beautiful on the inside as well. Definitely will make it back! read more
My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday and it was our first time. We parked a few blocks away and it was easy to find. It's right next to Punch Bowl Social. Check in was smooth. Make sure to make reservations. We saw a few people walk in and was turned away. Attire/Atmosphere: Nice up scale restaurant but you can dress casual. My boyfriend wore black nikes with a button up tie :-) The inside is beautifully decorated. A great place to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Romantic but chill at the same time. You don't have to worry about using your inside voice. You can chat the night away. Gets pretty loud on the rooftop. I like that there's a variety of furniture. I wish we had gotten the ones with the cushions lol Drinks: I had the café colada and my bf had the Fantôme. I love coladas but I never had it mixed with coffee. It's a very interesting combination lol I wouldn't get it again though. The coffee was overwhelming. My bfs beer went down smooth. Belgium beer and it's 750 ml. The server told us he had to go down to the cellar to get it which made it even more tastier lol Appetizer: We ordered the cold mezze. I wasn't a big fan. The feta was good and you could taste the lemon. Fresh but I'd rather go straight to the food instead. But if you like olives then you would enjoy it. Be careful of the pits. Food: We ordered Short Rib Shakshuka Lamb and Beef Kefta. They were both delicious and we finished everything. The sauce in the short rib shakshuka is amazing. I wish I had french bread to dip it with. The beef was juicy and there was a good amount of chunky potatoes. The beef kefta was just as good and paired well with the rice. Dessert: Ended the meal with Crème brûlée. Pomegranate and honey. We approve! Light and sweet. Service: The food arrived pretty fast but there were many times we tried to get his attention and he would walk towards us and do a full 180 lol I never seen someone turn so fast like when someone forgets their keys and wallet at home. He was nice though and took a photo for us when we asked. The lady at the check in area kind of erk my nerves. I get that we have to wear a mask inside. But while my boyfriend and I were waiting by the elevator, another couple by us was taking pictures in the mirror without their mask. She didn't say anything to them. Later on, we tried to take a quick photo together without our mask on too but she told us we had to keep it on. When it was just only us there though. Which is fine but I felt like she should have said the same thing to the couple before us too. Downfall: I didn't like that there was a huge heating rod in front of our view of the city. read more

AMAZING FROM START TO FINISH! We were in a rush to catch a flight and we let our server know. Food came out so fast it was impressive. Food was delicious. Unique offerings and everything was so favorable. What a memorable meal. The corn hummus was a fan favorite. The Kulfi was perfect. Smooth and full of bold coffee flavor. The presentation of the black garlic shrimp scampi was unique and reminded me of an escargot serving dish. Haloumi also a fan favorite. read more

I admit Aba wasn't impressive during my first few visits. After trying several times more recently I can see why they're so popular. Everything tastes so fresh. I've tried just about everything on the menu and while there are standouts, nothing has been bad. I'm not sure what the calorie counts look like, but no matter how much I eat I leave Aba feeling healthy. .. don't ruin it for me. In this moment, allow ignorance to be bliss. Service has also improved significantly. It can be a bit slow, but the staff is very friendly. It's clear they've been intentional about this key dining element. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. I really enjoy the patio. It looks like something you'd see on one of those Housewives reality shows. During my most recent visit, the cocktails were not consistent. If I order the same drink multiple times, I expect it to taste relatively the same. Each person at our table agreed the cocktails varied wildly. None were bad per se, but more consistency would be appreciated. Even with this critique, Aba is deserving of a very solid 4 star review. read more

Came here for happy hour (make sure to ask for menu!) and it was a great experience! The food was amazing. Not pictures was the happy wine ($7) and mule. Service was excellent and food was unique and great tasting Mediterranean fusion. I thought the food I ordered was just bit overpriced for what it was especially with an entree being just rice and a skewer of meat running you $17.95 before taxes. Understandably, this restaurant is in the heart of one of the most expensive areas in Chicago. Nonetheless would make a return to try other items on the menu! read more
Food was absolutely incredible and the hype here is REAL. The hummus and spreads were sooooo flavorful and creamy with the warm fluffy pita bread. I would have been completely satisfied with just having some hummus and spread and calling it a day because that alone was so filling. From the raw section I got the beef tartar and hamachi. Beef had a nice chew and was even better wrapped in the lettuce leaves. The hamachi is a MUST TRY!!!!! It bursts with flavor with each bite. I didnt want to share but needed everyone at the table to experience it. For my main dish i got the salmon kabob. Salmon was seasoned perfectly and fell right off the stick! I paired it with the truffle orzo rice which is also a MUSY TRY. Super creamy and rich, with enough truffle! For dessert I ended with the frozen greek passion fruit yogurt which was probably the best yogurt ive ever had even though it was just yogurt. If I wasn't so full I would've ordered another one. The place is beautiful and im so glad I got to try this place out while in chicago! read more

Great service, amazing atmosphere, good food- but not as good as the first time here? This was our second time at Aba and it was to celebrate my birthday with my husband. We requested an intimate table or section & were seated on a comfy corner couch by a firetop on the heated patio. This was absolutely perfect for us and I'm happy they took our request into consideration. Our server was wonderful and kept bringing us complimentary pita bread which we loved. Where it fell kind of short was some of the food, unfortunately. The whipped feta & hamachi were INCREDIBLE. But the scallops were over cooked and I do not think they need to be served with raw onions & cilantro... it completely overpowered the simple & sweet taste of the scallops and just did not go well together at all. Also, the falafel were cold when they arrived which was a bummer because I love a piping hot fried falafel! I'll still give 4 stars because I know their food is usually really good. Maybe it was just an off night. read more
My absolute favorite restaurant in the city! Whenever I have friends in town, this is the first place I suggest for them to go. Reservations typically open up about 2-3 weeks out, and fill up so quickly. The decor is gorgeous with a touch of Bohemian accents, and the vibes are elegant and unmatched! There is seating inside for a cozier vibe, and an airy rooftop with lots of natural light. What we ordered: (Group of 4 girls!) - DRINKS: - GIVE ME LIFE (with a shot of Tito's): this cocktail typically comes alcohol free but we added a shot of Tito's. Filled with lyre's classico sparkling, strawberry, rose, and bitters. So delicious and fresh! - BLOOD ORANGE G&T: if you love orange tones and are a gin fan this is for you! Comes with las californias citrico gin, norden aquavit reserve, licor 43, blood orange, lemon - SNEAKY LINK: this one was me, I loved it almost as much as I loved the name! Had 818 reposado, tromba blanco, passionfruit, ras el hanout, and lime! - APEROL SPRITZ -STARTERS: - WHIPPED FETA with PITA BREAD: I love love this spread, so creamy and topped with crushed pistachio, olive oil, and lemon zest. - GREEK VILLAGE SALAD: This salad screams Mediterranean diet - made with mighty vine tomato, persian cucumber, red onion, kalamata olive, bell pepper, feta, and topped with greek vinaigrette - HOT MEZZE: - BRUSSELS SPROUTS: made with almond & cashew dukkah and doused with harissa honey. Unreal taste and the honey was a great touch. - KABOB: - GRILLED CHICKEN (5 pieces and sweet peppers) - served with yogurt marinade, zhoug, and a generous amount of rice. ***COVID Review*** Patio Brunch What a stunning space! They views aren't great because the building isn't tall and its in an active industrial area but they hit the interior and landscape design out of the park! It's lush and green with rustic wood accents, which makes a stunning juxtaposition to the brick of this and nearby buildings. They charged a $50 deposit (per table) for the reservation that went towards our meal, which was more reasonable to me than the $35 PER PERSON deposits other restaurants were charging. We started with drinks. My bf always tends to get the "girly" looking drinks (his the coral/red one lol). I like anything with grapefruit, especially at brunch, so When Doves Cry was the perfect choice for me. We ordered the whipped feta, lamb and beef kefta, and short rib shashuka to share. I'm not really a bread person. I get most of my carbs from potatoes and tortillas, but that pita was some of the best I've ever had. It was seasoned, warm, and fluffy; I couldn't get enough it slathered with creamy feta. The kefta was expertly seasoned and the rice was TO DIE FOR! (Again see above for how I normally take my carbs). Good olive oil and a fresh squeeze of lemon make all the difference. Last, but certainly not least, the shashuka. Let's be real it was just a pan full of deliciously tender short rib. I would have preferred runny eggs and more harissa, but the flavors were so complementary. Would for sure come again. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Aba this past weekend. We had a reservation for 12 pm. The check in process was seamless. They do some screening questions at the door and check a temperature (wrist/forehead). Dishes are meant for sharing. My husband and I ordered 5. They recommend 4-6 for two people depending on how hungry you are. Our favorites were the Whipped Feta, Green Falafel, and Black Garlic Shrimp Scampi. Fresh, hot, soft pita was brought out with most of the dishes so we were pretty full by the time our short rib shakshuka was brought out. The flavors were very much my style: fresh, herby, lemony. My husband who is very much your meat and potatoes kinda guy loved everything as well. I want to say he enjoyed the non meat dishes more too. If you love Mediterranean type dishes and are looking for a cool place to try with a beautiful interior, give Aba a try. read more

One of the highlights of my stay in Chicago was Aba. Aba has redefined hummus and pita for me and made me realize that I've been missing out on good Mediterranean cuisine! I am constantly thinking of the food and the decor of this place and I cannot wait to find time just to fly back to Chicago and eat here. Everything I had here was delicious - not a single let down. I want to come back to eat everything again. I think the star of my meal was the crispy beef short rib hummus with the fresh garlic pita and crème brûlée pie. Our waiter was so extremely friendly and actually sat down with us for a bit to chat. Love him! The dining area was so beautiful I felt like I was an extra in a sitcom. I knew of Aba in Austin and that is challenging to get a table there. When I was headed to a business trip in Chicago, I immediately made a reservation once I discovered an Aba here. First off, the place is gorgeous to look at. A gander at their website will give you a nice tease, and the atmosphere once there is engulfing. I was there by myself so sat by the bar. My bartender Evan was the best; a real pro and friendly guy, and based on my what I was looking for "exotic, adventurous and tasty!", he gave me the following high recommendations: Fava bean hummus. It's GLORIOUS!!! Get it! If you're in a group, get it for yourself and refuse to share it with them. Lamb and beef kefta kabobs - you can't go wrong here - both were great - although I imagine all the kabobs offered are lovely. The basmati rice it comes with was delicious! Then I went with a veg; the brussel sprouts spiced with almond, honey and dukkah. Bring a hankie; you will likely sweat. I felt a bit more honey in the dish would balance it out more with the dukkah; however that said, an interesting dish. For a finish, I had the chocolate orange creameux - oh my! Evan was willing to bet whether I could finish the whole thing (I couldn't), but I sure did enjoy trying (and finishing it the next day). I'd love to come back here and will next time I'm in Chi! read more

Usually, my phone eats first, but Aba has blown my expectations away. My girlfriend booked us a reservation for this place a month out for our anniversary. I've been meaning to come here, so I was instantly excited to find out she scored a reservation. The classic hummus with the crudités and whipped feta, both coming with pita made for a delicious appetizer. For our main we got the crispy potatoes and chicken kefta kabob. Both were absolutely amazing. Then, we finished with the crime brûlée pie and greek yogurt. I would love to come back another time! read more

This place definitely lives up to the hype. I've lived here for four years now and have always heard good things but finally got to try it. I think we got almost everything on the menu but it was all so excellent. If you get anything, get all of the dips. Hummus, whipped feta, all of it! It comes with delicious pita bread and veggies to dip it in. We also got the fish, shrimp scampi, chicken kabobs, lamb, cauliflower - all of it amazing. We also got the pistachio cake and the frozen yogurt with olive oil and sea salt. Go if you are visiting it's worth it and is a great ambiance! read more

Aba Chicago - I give this place a 5/5 I haven't been able to book a table at Aba in Austin so when I saw availability for Aba Chicago and during Happy Hour I was very excited. Aba did not disappoint. We sat at the rooftop patio which offers gorgeous views and weather during this time. The decorative greenery and aesthetic was gorgeous and relaxing. The dip trio during HH was a steal and the salmon kabobs were delicious. The dessert, Turkish coffee ice box, was out of this world and recommended by our server who was excellent. read more

There's 2 main sections of the restaurant - indoor seating and outdoor heated seating. We chose to sit by the outdoor terrace as the weather was very nice. This restaurant is meant to be tapas/family style. We ordered a bunch of mezze (my favorite was the eggplant one), lamb, ribs, pork belly, orzo, tartare and many other thing. The food and ambiance were amazing! The reason I give it 4 stars is because I found a few dishes to be a bit too heavy for my liking and the particular waitress that we had was not very friendly. It would be better if the staff do not interrupt people mid conversation and have more patience and care when clearing plates/cutlery. However, I hope this was just a one off situation and I will be coming back for the food! You must try the crème brûlée pie and chocolate cake if you get the chance! Those were my favorite desserts. read more
We have come back to Aba multiple times, but only recently tried brunch at Aba for the first time, and loved it! The smoked salmon spread and Jerusalem everything bagel is one of my new favorite dishes. The spread is a lovely creamy take on cream cheese, but a touch lighter than cream cheese. The smoked salmon spread was reminiscent for me of smoked salmon cream cheese in flavor, but has a great creamy salmon texture. The tomatoes were super sweet, and all in all it was a gorgeous dish! They open at 3 on Saturday for dinner. I would recommend arriving at 3 or 4 as it fills up quickly with reservations. Brunch begins at 11, but not sure how that works and such
