It's been less than 1 year ago, that my family found ourselves in need of a new washer & dryer. Luckily for us, we found the set we wanted at Aaron's Appliances, in Chico, CA. The "90 day, same as cash/Rent to Own" program the Salesman presented to us, the day we visited the Chico location, seemed to fit our situation perfectly. So, we gave the Salesman our initial payment, on our intended "90 day, same as cash" payment schedule, set up delivery for later on in the week and went home to wait for our new washer and dryer. Little did we know, "New" meant "new to us", NOT "brand New/ new in the box/ from the factory, new". So you can imagine our surprise when, upon opening the dryer that had been delivered, the lint trap was full of lint & dirt from the previous owners. The washer was filthy, dirty, and obviously pre-owned as well. This set we have right now is our third set of washer and dryer in less than a year, from this company. We decided to extend our payments out into "rent to own" from the "90 day same as cash", and, currently have withheld payments until repairs are completed, on the current set, which are in desperate need of repairs. The washer makes a horrible grinding sound, that can be heard 3 counties away, I'm sure. And, the knob on the dryer feels as if it's been stripped and just slides around when u attempt to set it. Countless phone calls have been made from my family to Aaron's Appliances, over the last few months, in attempts to reconcile this situation. Unfortunately, it seems they have a fairly high turn over rate with their employees, so, actually being able to contact someone who I have discussed our situation with before, or who is familiar with our situation, seems almost impossible. Then, to my surprise, I receive a letter in the mail yesterday, stating our account has been sent to collections! COLLECTIONS!!???!!! Does anyone communicate with one another at that place???!!! We have not been incapable of making our payments, we were WITHHOLDING our payments until they provided us with what we were paying for!!! Yesterday, after receiving the letter, I called Aarons and spoke with a woman, regarding the collection letter. When I asked if her if, "Are we really expected to continue to make payments on equipment we CAN NOT use?" Her reply to me was, "Pretty much." Followed by a dial tone... "pretty much"... Seriously? Is this how employees talk to their customers? Have I missed something somewhere along the lines in life? When did this become acceptable??? Selling sub par products, not standing behind the products they sell, and then refusing to work with the customers they sell their garbage to.... You can "pretty much" garuntee that I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. read more

My fiancé and I LOVE Aaron's! We would not have been able to afford all of our nice things without them! We love that we can pay monthly (instead of weekly, like their competitors) and it doesn't hurt our credit score! The employees of Aaron's have always been courteous and knowledgable. We love the delivery service living up in Paradise and not having a truck to haul our items. I also love how flexible they are with payments. You can pay off early with no penalty. I have also made half payments through the month when I was on a tight payday in the beginning of the month. We currently own 5 items (washer/dryer, laptop, standing freezer, 55" tv, and complete bedroom set) because of Aaron's. We love feeling like sophisticated adults instead of broke kids living in a dorm. read more

I cant give one star. But what i lack in ratings i can make up with in this explainations. - my husband and i went into the store to get a set on the 5.00 deal that was listed for the memorial day holiday. When we get there everything is fine . these people are not terribly nice but they were helpful. We put the set togeather seleting items from different sets to complete our living room and left. The delivery is in 4 days. We wait two days and get a call saying two of the (4) refrences doesnt work because the numbers diconnected and we cant use my number because i live there. So we updated the information and changed the two "bad refrences" the receptionst said she updated it. The next day we call the manager and he says hes not working with us because we have TOO MANY REFRENCES. SO ON DELIVERY DAY WE GET A CALL SAYING THE MANAGER WILL NOY WORK WITH US BECAUSE WE HAVE TOO MANY REFRENCES. chico is not exactly the most (comfortable) city for all people of race... Hell... They dont even care for all the college kids too much! Talk about a celebration for graduation. But i didnt expect a legit company to make up an excuse for why they wont rent to us. And when my husband called back to get the corperate number he gave it to him and hung up. My husband called back. And he gave the number again and right before he hung up he said "it wont change anything. Good luck. " with a sarcastic attitude. Just because some things are the only thing avaliable because its a small town... Doesnt mean you get over on the locals. We plan to live here for longer than a year because im pregnant. And i can tell you right now this experience is far from a warm welcome. /// to aarons. Next time .........just say you dont rent to black people you dont have to make excuses about the 4 refrences you require and the receptionist who aparently didnt update the information all she did was ad too it. /// and you didnt have to "make the decision not to rent to us based on that information. You CHOSE TO. Go to rent a center. They might be a little more $ .... It might not. But they adhere to everyone ! And they are super friendly and the delivery drivers are fast and friendly! As most know moving into a new place has its expenses. For me this time it was that I needed some appliances and a living room set up. I ordered all through Aarons with the excitement of having the ability to furnish my new home with what I needed and not break the bank in doing so. Needless to say that excitement quickly diminished. Original delivery day was to have my fridge and washer and dryer delivered. Only one delivery guy so they brought a store staff member. After getting the fridge inside my home the delivery guy insisted that it would not fit in any of the kitchen entry ways, so it was taken back out and to the store. The next day I went in and measured the fridge if they doors had been removed only to find that it would indeed have fit! so re-scheduled the delivery of the fridge and found out about the delay on my couch as well as the fact that they were then unable to order my table set (even though I had been told it was ordered) Ended up ordering the table set directly through Ashley's.. So now it is the 2nd delivery attempt on the fridge.. they had the doors off and got it into the house.. I was surprised at how fast they left and even left behind some of there belongings. When I went to catch them to get them the items left behind I then noticed the large scratch in the new flooring of my rental! Explained why they left in such a hurry, when I went into the store to let them know I got a Sorry.. now the debacle of the couch (the final straw) Originally to be delivered Sat 8/3.. was delayed due to a delivery guy calling out sick, moved to Sat 8/14, again to be delayed due to a call out and only one driver.. now it is to be delivered today 8/18 only to be told they can only drop it at the door as they again have a driver call out! I get that they cannot control what shitty employees do, however if they can send a staff member to assist on one, why not now?? Highly frustrated and if it had not been for Katie I would have already cancelled and returned all items. I am still beyond frustrated with this company and how it has handled the whole process. I do not recommend and will not use them again after all this is done. read more

Bought a few items from Aaron's and I always tried to pay the items off before 90 days...bought a mattress and it was unusable after 3-4 months I paid over $500 for it and they came and took pictures of it a few times...the sides were caved in and it was a pillow top so they said it needed to be caved in on the top 2 inches for it to be under warranty...well it's a pillow top it would have to be caved in all the way into the floor for it to show up on the top but what about the sides? All rippled even one of the guys I told to lay on it felt it dipped in and I'm not 500lbs for a mattress to go to crap that fast is terrible OH also they don't keep in contact with you about the warranty dept says...I know they lied and said they submitted my claim but I called the manufacturer and they said it was in warranty....I've since paid for a new mattress someplace else and returned a item I was paying on since their "warranty" is non existent and I'm not paying 10xs the amount on garbage can't wait until my final payments are done on the couches I owe for still that I might as well keep since I have only 5 move payments ugh ...buyer beware they sell cheap cheap furniture and you have no warranty after paying 10xs the price for it ...get your credit together and shop someplace else like I did...they take advantage of people ... WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! My hubby applied for the job as a truck driver. Went in the day for the interview the manger had set up with him over the phone at five pm and the manager wasn't even there. The employee said he was off delivering and it would be at least an hour before he got back and took down my husbands name and number and to hang out for an hour until he got back. So we went off to go look at stuff in stores, came back and the manager had left for the day! Later on in the week my hubby called to ask what happened and they had already filled the slot! Worst buying experience I have ever had. They delivered a table that I ordered and after waiting a month for the couch I was supposed to get; they said " we told you 3-6 months" which was a flat out lie. Who would agree to wait that long for a couch! They came and got the table when I cancelled my order but still charged my credit card. I have been a customer for about 6 months at this location. Unfortunately I will no longer rent from them. I am so disappointed in the managers lack of professionalism. So this Aarons called me for a reference for someone and they didn't know the phone wasn't hung up and I have on voicemail 13 minutes of their employees talking crap about the person they were calling about. So I was upset and called and talk to them about it. They were very rude and when I asked for the corporate number I was told I have no more to say about this matter and hung up on me. The people finally got their stuff but got the remark this should be the end of it. Excuse me! No! There should be no reason for any business to be talking about a customer like that. Worst customer service ever! Super nice at first when they try to get you into renting from them, but after that they are super rude.

So yesterday I took my mom to Aaron's to buy a new couch. We walked into the store and the lady asked what we were looking for. My mom said she came in for a couch. The lady started asking questions about color, size, we said we would just like to walk around and check them out. She gave us a dirty look and walked away. We found the couch that we wanted, went to the counter and she said they were out of that one. We were bummed. So we continued to walk around and found another one, plus we also found a bed set. I asked the woman at the store some questions, she then asked if we had an account. I told her I had an account a few years ago, my account was paid off... (over $5000 in furniture) but told he it was gonna be under my moms account since it's for her house and she's paying for it. We walked up to the counter, she asked us to fill out the paperwork. In that process she asked if I lived at my address, so that means she looked my account up. I told her yes that's my address. While we were filling out the references I told my mom to put one of my drivers down cause I knew he would give a good reference and also would answer the phone. The woman took the paperwork to the back of the store, came back and said that she would have to wait to talk to her manager. I asked why? She said there was an issue on MY account. I said how? My account is paid off. She just stared at me. Then said she can't do anything until she talks to her manager. I asked her if the manager was in, she said no. So I asked her if they will call us after she talked to the manager. Sh said yes. So we left, we were upset because my account shouldn't affect my mom buying furniture. So this morning I call Aaron's and talk with the manager, I explained what had happened. He said there was an issue with my account. I asked him if it was paid off? He said yes. I ask d him what the issue was, he said his computer wouldn't tell him. I was talking to my drivers and one of my drivers asked what she looked like? I told him and he said yea she has a problem with us because Browns Towing had impounded her boyfriends car multiple times. My mom calls them and asked them what was going on, the manager told her that there was no issue with my account, that the woman working told him that we were "abrasive." So the manager lied to me and said they couldn't sell any furniture to me because of These unknown "issues." But really it was because this woman was upset at who I worked for. Is this really Aaron's policies? You not only lost out on over $3000 in current sales, but also any future sales from me! Aaron's you should really train your employees to leave their personal business at the door, they just cost you a lot of money! read more
