Had taken the Benz in for a second opinion and they were quick to tell me what was wrong with the vehicle and the staff was very friendly , the diagnostic test was free . however the total cost of the repair if the transmission needed an entire rebuild was the same price as the dealer $6,700. I had figured it would of been less. Called Mercedes Benz dismantlers (sun valley transmission) van nuys and the cost is $3,500 for a rebuilt transmission and torque converter almost half the cost -installed. read more

Awful waste of time. I went in hoping to get my engine codes read for a quick diagnostic test. As the man up front started explaining how easily charges would be tacked on (115$ to start and additional hundreds) for each "possible" thing wrong, the more my instinct kept telling me to bolt for the door. I spent 50$ on a new engine coil from Autozone and changed it myself all in 10 minutes. They wanted my car overnight or possibly 2 days for a simple diagnostic test that should take maybe 5-10 min?! What?! ... I get it, girl walks into the mechanic shop and she's supposedly easier to milk for money right? Ha! Do yourself a favor and run fast from this place. They said they were closed but that I could drop off my car late night & hide they keys & they would look over the car for me. Monday came around & they gave me an estimate. They did they very best to work with me & even got me approved for financing. To begin with, I'm suing these jerks AND synchrony bank. My son took my 2007 focus here for overheating and the transmission needed to be changed? The guy was saying things to me like "you sound so cool, are you single?" Ew yes people THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. To make a long story short after a month my son picked up the car and the first time he got on the freeway THE CAR LOCKED UP... YOU KNOW THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE NEW. So I called and refuted the charge, and he wrote a letter saying "if the car is even not working" I told synchrony I refuse to take the car back there now matter how many threatening phone calls I get I WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT THIS GUY! They don't know what they are doing and when u take it in car for warranty they say it's something else and try to charge you for something that's not even broke. Took my car there for a new transfer case spend $2300 on it. Got the warranty about 3 months ago. It started to make noises resistantly so I took it back they diagnosed the problem and said it's my read end. $1600 was the quote so I felt like they were lying and took it to a different shop for a second opinion and they said there is absolutely no problem with the rear end they said it was the transfer case. Where do I begin? If I could leave negative stars, I would. This place should not be in business at all. I've filed complaints with the Bureau of Automotive Repair, the BBB and AAMCO corporate. They milk your insurance, delay everything to increase their fees and outright lie to you. When you come to this shop you will meet Thomas, who will tell you repeatedly that he "is a man of God". I've found typically people who do this are the least religious or pious you can meet. If this was the 1850s Thomas and the owner, Chris, would be selling snake oil. They did shoddy work, it took over two months for it to get done. My favorite moment was when Thomas told us that "they've never done a job like this". To be clear, it was a broken radiator, oil pan ac compressor and bumper. Wow. Chris will tell you that he's been in business for 22 years. You be the judge. Oh and I will post before and after photos along with the bogus invoices. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. I'm not joking. You go here, you will regret it. I hope the BAR does not reissue their license. ****UPDATE***** The owner is literally calling my wife over and over again harassing us about our honest review. This is a fact chris. I will post missed calls. Also. Other FACTS- I didn't CARE about the price. I CARED it took almost 75 days for this to get "fixed". Additionally, I doubt the owner would want me to post the invoices from the body shop which we have which contradict his affirmations. Other FACTS: car was scratched on rim and on back of tailgate. Chris- I have before and after photos. That's a FACT. FACT- every other review says the same things. Too much time. Too many false and broken promises FACT- you've had complaints lodged against you before, challenge me chris I will post them. How about a response of "we will do better next time" or something to actually admit you managed this terribly and need to work on a lot in your shop. First off. Don't take your car here, I'll save you the headache. My car has been here for 5 days now. For a head gasket replace, oil change, hose replace, and a O2 sensor replaced. For the last three days I call to see if the car is ready and I kept getting hung up on and no it will be ready tomorrow. I needed to do credit payments since it was going to be over $600. I signed all the papers on a Saturday. The guy said I'll have my girl get it all setup. Wednesday the car is ready and the paperwork was never finished. Now I have to pay all in full to get my car. I was finally able to get my ford f to Aamco and with the help of their rep Beto I was able to get everything worked out and covered 100% the communication level was clear and very helpful and felt that I was being treated with respect and a family member. DO NOT GO THERE !!!! The free tests is a total scam .they dismantled my car after not being able to "find" the problem ...wanted $500 to give it back to me . I even went w a tow truck to pick it up ...they took off the arms for the tires so couldnt even load to tow away . They had quoted $1400 first then changed it to $2900!! When I complaint the "manager "Adrian threatened me that he would sell my car and I had no rights!! Wrong ! But he thought I would give in. I called the owner Chris and he did nothing apparently gives the manager freedom for extortion. I went back with a witness and recorded the conversation ...still threatened me and my witness came very close to throwing punches.finally after hours there he went from 2900-2300-1800-1400...the original quote ! And have him put everything on paper. In bad faith I left my car , they took close to a month to have it ready. I even contacted police to see if I could get an escort next time I went. Picked up and still didnt feel right. Brought it back next day ...they had "forgotten " to put in the bolts for the transmission !! I could of had A major accident on the road. I came here because my car had engine light on; they advertise free diagnostic. I thought this was perfect! I quickly realized it was not so perfect. This is what they do to get you in "free diagnostic check" but be informed that this is part of a marketing gimmic. I called on a Sunday, even-though they were closed someone picked up and I was able to make an appointment for the next day which was MLK day. I took it as scheduled at 8:00am sharp. Took about 4 hours when I finally got a call back -that they needed to do further diagnostic on my truck and that they needed to keep the car for the whole day and it would cost me 285.00 to do a full diagnostic????, well I decided to doit. This is why this was ridiculous. They did not need my car for an entire day...... When I went back they were hesitant to give me a copy of the diagnostic and when they did I only got half of the diagnostic.... but anyone could have written that report. I could continue and write and more detailed story but I just want to make a point not go here and I threw away 285.00 but I saved my self and additional $800.00 in other issues they said they found. I got another diagnostic and all that came up was a misfire. I had the spark plugs changed and coil and everything is fixed now. Be weary of mechanics like these. read more

Take your vehicle to this place if your time and money mean nothing to you, or you would like expensive tow bills. Took my 93Jeep Wrangler and had a full transmission rebuild done. 1200 miles later it blew the front seals out and left me stranded on the side of the road. Had the jeep towed back to AAMCO and had the front seals replaced. It was finished a week later, after they continued to tell me I was being pushed back because of paying customers. After driving the Jeep for 100 mi I tried to shift into 4 wheel drive, unsuccessfully. I crawled under the jeep to take a look, and would you know, they failed to mount the shifter linkage. No bolts, no nuts, nothing. After further inspection I noticed they smashed the linkage when they installed the transmission. At this point I decided to fix it myself. Another 200 miles later the Transmission started leaking again. Took back (Now I am starting to lose my patience), and was told I would have to wait 4 hours before they could get to it and it was out of warranty. At this point I decided to just take the jeep back home and call it a loss. Do NOT take your vehicle here. They will use typical used car salesmanship to get you in the door and then do a terrible job. They are too worried about bringing in new business to get sales up, instead of doing quality work. Every time I took the jeep back they would try to sell me new work on my jeep. Whether it be replacing a seal or a full rear end rebuild. You have got to be kidding me. I will not let them touch any of my vehicles from now on. read more

Don't go here! Even the office staff seems ashamed to be working for them. 1997 F-250. Got the free read because engine light was on. When we got the printout, it stated that a glo plug was the issue. Chris, the owner, went on to tell my husband and me that it was the transmission and that they needed $500 to look at it, because they would have to "drop" the engine to take a look. They said it shifted rough 3rd to 4th gear. Chris didn't mention the free report findings, he just kept trying to sell the transmission inspection even though the truck runs great. Chris tried every sales tactic out there! I wish I would have looked up the reviews before going to them for the free report. I feel lucky to get out of there without spending any money. If I knew more about my truck's engine, I could have told Chris he was full of sh*t to his face. read more

If AAMCO Andy would've went down just $100, I would've had them rebuild my 6l80 for $3,400. On top of that, he hangs up the phone on me when I wouldn't agree with the price. Then he proceeds to submitting finance applications to 2 different lenders, when I clearly told him to wait, so we can work on the price. He does this after he hangs up the phone on me. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! When I sent the tow truck back to pick up my truck from their shop, he gives the tow company a hard time, saying that I have to pay the bill before he can release the truck to them. WHAT BILL ANDY? YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR THE TOW, I DID. I believe he was mad that I was towing my truck to get fixed at another shop for $900 cheaper than his quote. When I asked for how much the rebuild was going to cost in TOTAL, he quoted me $3,600.00, but then proceeded to say that it can be more if the pump, and hard parts were damaged. He wouldn't give me a set price. He went on to say that it can go upwards of $3,900.00+, depending on what else is damaged in the transmission. Andy needs to change his attitude when it comes to customers willing to work with their expensive prices. You provide a service. You just need to realize that you're not the only one providing that service. You lost $3,400.00 in revenue because you thought you could hang up the phone on me and think I'd call you back. It was a pleasure to do business for a second time with Aamco of Riverside. I have a 1995 escort that I had the engine replaced with a friend that is a great mechanic the engine was purchased from O'Reilly's Auto Parts. After installing the engine we needed to Prime the engine which consisted of 9 quarts of oil. With the spark plugs out the valve cover off we lubricated the valves with Lucas Oil then crank the engine till it was primed. The oil light also went off. After we primed the engine we put the plugs and wires back in and valve cover. The car did run for a short time. My mechanic Josh notice it was misfiring. We left it till Josh was able to work on it again Josh the mechanic had a busy schedule. A week before I had a clutch replaced on my 96 Saturn at this Aamco. I talk to Chris about my Escort and what was done to the Escort. Chris had my Escort towed at no cost. After Chris had done the diagnostic on the escort he called me and explained that they were doing test. Chris also communicated closely with Shawn the O'Reilly's Tech about the engine.Before the last test the engine seized Chris called me about the engine seizing and offered to get me a used engine with low miles, Chris gave me an estimate to replace with the labor cost and warranties.I was very satisfied with the service that the mechanic gave and great customer service that Chris Estrella and Dane provided for me. Took my car down there cause it was getting stuck in third gear and I think they fixed the problem but when I got there I had no transmission fluid in my car if I didn't check it before I left I would have drove all that way home with no transmission fluid in my car and I woke up the next morning to check my car out and they had motor oil in my power steering fluid and transmission fluid in my oil I don't know if it was a mistake or a set up I will not be going back there again unless my car break s down cause of there mistake read more

WHATEVER YOU DO- DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! I was having transmission issues with my vehicle and had it towed here since they only specialize in transmissions, it cost me $3600. Within the first 6 mos after getting my car back, I had to take it back to this shop 2 more times due to the "new" transmission slipping again. I threatened the owner that I was going to take him to small claims court, and he replaced that transmission- with me paying another $800 to extend the warranty out another year..... its been exactly 3.5- 4 months and my car is down there yet again because the "new" tranny started slipping coming off the freeway and it dumped fluid underneath. This will be the last time my car will be touched by these people, I will be seeking the advice of a lawyer on how to resolve this situation. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received today from this location. I made the appointment for a check engine light and was told my car would need to be dropped off for a 5-6 hour time block to run codes and diagnose the issue. Luckily they were having a special for a free inspection or I would be MUCH more upset. I'm pre-law and always read the fine print, it was very obvious the man Thomas up front was offended by my couple of questions regarding the free service and if there was anything in the contract about obligation to get my work done there should something more than I could fix at home be found. After six hours I called to see how things were going, and was told they had just ran the codes, reading them off too quickly for me to write down. Following that I was told in order to diagnose this issue it would be $220 and an overnight at the shop and if I wanted to go ahead and get that done. My dad works in paintless dent repair, so I said no thanks that I'd like my dad to compare their findings with his. I was quickly told to come get my car and hung up on and when I arrived was treated really poorly by the woman at the front desk. I asked her to explain one of the codes to me because I didn't catch it on the phone and she simply read off the number again. I was not given any explanation about what they would/could be doing should I decide to come back, not told the codes or given an invoice that would allow me to compare with anything. I am really disappointed that I wasted by day not being able to get around and run errands by dropping my car off here to be told absolutely nothing. read more

I made an appt to get my check engine light looked at and to see what was needed. I had a coupon for them to look at the check engine light for free it does not say that they have to fix it. When I got there they told me it was just an appt to drop the car off. It was not to get it looked at. They told me it would take till 4 that afternoon to get it looked at and done. I told them I did not want the work done. I just needed to know which sensor to replace. 8 hours is a long time to hook a car to read a computer print out to tell you about a sensor. I took the car to Discount Auto repair in Riverside, in under 2 minutes the guys there hooked up the car and printed out what which sensor I needed and I was on my way. Wont go back to AAMCO any where ever again. read more

I brought in my 2012 Nissan Altima. To have service done to a winding noise when the vehicle started up. I had Aamco diagnose my problem turns out that I need a new transmission they researched and compare prices between a new one and use one and they found me a used transmission with low mileage same transmission that was in my vehicle previously and now my vehicle runs great plus all the other parts to put into my vehicle including a new water pump and power steering hoses my car runs like new and I appreciate their service with a smile. Very friendly staff they reassured me on everything that they would do and have done to the vehicle. I know it may be expensive to have them do the work but now I have peace of mind and because of there reassured to me that their work is top of the line and was proven I will not go anywhere else except them to do transmissions and service. I had my vehicle towed to this facility for a transmission repair after it sustained a fluid leak due to collision with an object underneath the car and locked up. I called in to let them know a tow truck would be dropping it off and spoke to Thomas. Within 48 hrs he had located me used transmission out of the same model vehicle, retreived it and installed it to my vehicle. It's never a pleasant experience to pay for auto repairs but Thomas always took my call, answered all the little questions that kept popping up, and the whole experience worked seamlessly. Another dissatisfied customer.I too went in for my engine light coming on. Tom Freers tells me bring it in tomorrow morning at eight o'clock. i did and he says fours hours to fix. i stated if he could take me home and he complied. Six hours later,i called and Tom (terrific) said its not ready yet but we have the best mechanic in town. (hate to see their worst) he calls me again at 5:15 pm and says we'll have to keep the car overnight.Their best mechanic can't seem to find the problem. I said no,pick me up so i can pick up my car and he said no. So it goes back and forth and he finally says, "Its Valentines day" So my wife who has cancer had to spend looking at the four walls as Tom (terrific) took his family out for a nice evening. My wife says thanks Tom.So i returned the following day and picked up my car. Didn't have the balls to confront me. i spoke to his boss Chris another asshole and he seemed to side with Tom. and by the way anytime you see someone give the thumbs up to AAMCO, its an employee or relative. so i suggest go to FIRESTONE who offer same services but better service. i guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions about the service provided at aamco, my opinion is that all these people leaving bad reviews have way too much time on their hands. ive been in the shop 3-4 times now , and never once was anyone rude to me. the owner 'chris' isnt what all these people make him out to be, he is actually very quick to get the job done. he replaced my transmission in 2-3 days .....earlier than the estimated time it was supposed to take. he called me everyday to let me know the status of my vehicle, which i really thought was cool of him. readers dont feed into all the bad reviews. i highly recommend having your car serviced at aamco. really if the place is so bad , why is it that each time i went to the shop it was completly full of vehicles being worked on. apparently they are doing something right. i assure you chris and the men who work at the shop will take care of bussiness. read more

If anyone is even considering going to Aamco in Riverside Ca...stay FAR FAR away. We took my Jeep in for some work on the 28th...promised it in two days. Day four we drove by only to see it sitting in their back parking lot and it hadn't been worked on and hadn't even been moved from day one. We parked outside and called them and they told us it would be done on the fourth day...some BS story about them having ordered parts but the parts came in wrong blah blah blah. Tim proceeded to tell them we came by and saw the Jeep and that it hadn't even been moved. That is when the manager admitted they hadn't even started on it. To top it off, they quoted us almost $700 for the work because of labor at $110 an hour. They promised us the car at 5pm yesterday at at 3pm, they hadn't touched it yet. How does that come out to $700 with only two hours left to work on it???? Tim called them and told them to get the car ready and we were coming to pick it up....we did not feel comfortable having them work on it. Four days of not having our Jeep...four wasted days.
