So much food and great service in such a little restaurant. The space is small, shotgun style with a row of tables across one wall, and the kitchen on the other. We came in around 7:30pm on a Thursday evening, and there was a large table of 10, a couple 2 tops and then us. The place was full at that point. Our host and presumed owner was nice and answered whatever questions we had, mostly regarding heat levels, since each restaurant and region has their own heat scale. Food: Butter Chicken (spicy) Lamb Tikka Masala (spicy) Palak Paneer (medium) Basmati rice (of course to soak up all those awesome sauces) Garlic cilantro Naan Everything was exceptional and we devoured it all. I think we have found our new local Napalese/ Himalayan cuisine spot! read more

This is the best Indian restaurant i have ever eaten! The food is amazing. We have never had the panipuri, it was so delicious, the chickpea ball was so light and delightful with the mint tamarind sauce. The garlic, and onion naans were fluffy and soft. Omg the rice! I have never had such beautiful basmati rice, each grain is separated, perfectly fluffy and soft, never thought i write so many words to try to describe rice! We thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes. Ok I will never go back! I know a lot of places sell rice separately and this is one of them. I normally go to Flavor of India in San Lorenzo but they were closed so I gave this a try specifically because I wanted rice pudding! Let me tell you that was the worse RICE PUDDING ever!!!! It was MUSHY and the consistency was thick and tasted like there was cranberries added! Their Rice was regular while rice not basmati rice! This place is TRASH I'll never waist money there again! read more

This place is phenomenal in terms of Nepali flavors and cuisine, as subtly different from Indian cuisine. The restaurant is well managed, clean and a very friendly environment and atmosphere. Aama's Kitchen is the epitome of a Hayward gem: unassuming but so tasty it absolutely warrants a second visit! I haven't had Nepali food before, so this was a treat. The servers were very friendly and homey, and the food was so tasty! We ordered the paani poori, which was the best I've tried so far, one of their momo dishes, and the lamb tikka. There were a few other dishes on the menu that I was eyeing, but I was too stuffed by the end to order anything else. I def will be back to try more! read more

So I truly enjoyed myself at this restaurant. The service was so sweet. I wanted to make sure I ordered the Nepalise specialties cause I haven't had this cuisine before. The owner (I'm assuming) was happy to explain the dishes and make recommendations for us. He is so nice. Our server was really sweet too. We had veggie samosas, cause I cant not have samosas, and they were great. Then we had the Sadheko Momo and they were delicious! I want to go back to try all the momo varieties. I liked the lemon and bites of raw onion. Last we had the Nepali Thali with chicken. The presentation was beautiful. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The flavors are so complex and just made me happy and warm and comfy. I loved the pickled veg that was on this dish and also the spinach. Everything was so flavorful. I ordered mild and glad I did because everything still had some heat to it. It was spicy but in a good way. I washed everything down with a Nepali Beer. We will definitely be back! read more

I came hungry. I left full. My spirits lifted My faith in humanity restored. Santos the manager was a gem. He was the best service I've EVER had. And I'm over four decades old. Seriously. Ever since I discovered Aama's Kitchen, I've been raving about it to everyone I know! I love that both vegans/vegetarians and non-vegan/vegetarians can come together and enjoy some delicious food together. Every time I go I'm greeted with such warm welcome and the waiter always makes time to talk to me. After looking at the previous reviews I thought I'd give this place to try and I'm so glad that I did. My husband did a pick up order and we definitely it will be ordering again. It's a small place and was busy, the parking was a bit challenging. We ordered the butter chicken, Kuchumbar Salad Mix Vegetable Biryani, Cheese and garlic Naan. The friendliest service I've experienced in a long time. Very accommodating and good sense of humor. This small but cozy space serves up some really tasty food and they're open late! If you haven't had momos before, this is a great place to try a variety and the servers will answer any silly questions you have. Lots of other familiar dishes on the menu as well. We ordered a lot of food and everything was great. My favorite was the lamb tikka masala. Can't wait to go back. read more

Ordered food in-person and had to wait 60 minutes before it was ready, while trying to keep my wife and kids at bay. I wasn't given any reasonable updates on how long it would take for the food to be ready during that time. Restaurant had a total of 3 small groups when I had arrived, with 1 group already having received their food. So the delay wasn't because they were overly busy. read more

We started coming to Aama's Kitchen about two months ago and it has become one of our favorites. The goat curry is our go to which is tender and very flavorful. My other top recommendation are the momos in the soup base. They are the perfect comfort food. Aama's Kitchen has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Our server Santos was very attentive, helpful, and kind. He gives great recommendations too if you are unsure what to order. We are regulars here now for sure. read more

Stopped by Hayward on our way back from a family visit and we were craving some snacks. A lot of places closed mid-day, so we were struggling on deciding. I'm so thankful we came across this place! It's a decently sized spot and very well decorated, amazing vibes and a wonderful place to enjoy your food. The three of us shared the chow mein, fried chicken momos, and sadheko vegetable momos.These were genuinely the most unique and yummiest momos I have ever had. If you're a spice fan, you will LOVE the sadheko momos, and I believe Aama's Kitchen specializes in these. You won't find anything like their spicy and tangy sadheko momos anywhere else! Fried momos were delectable, juicy, and paired well with the sauce they provided. The chow mein was perfect and smokey. Service was fantastic! We were checked on several times and the owner welcomed us, as it was our first visit here. While Hayward's a little out of the way, we'll definitely be back if we're ever in the area! This restaurant is also open pretty late, so super convenient if you're looking for a late night option. read more

I had never gone to Aama's Kitchen before, but wanted to try it because the reviews were so good! We were greeted by a sweet gentleman (can't remember his name unfortunately) and he was so attentive while we were dining. We ordered chicken tandoori (half), butter chicken and chicken biryani. When I tell you my mouth was bursting with flavors, you gotta believe me! The flavors were insane!!! Each dish was to die for. The chicken tandoori was so juicy. The butter chicken was the creamiest and tastiest I've ever had at a restaurant. The chicken biryani was just on point. I was picking up a friend from the Oakland airport and found this place as an intriguing option to try out on the way back. This place was small but not too small, and on a Thursday night, we had no trouble getting seated. The owner greeted us and was very nice, and gave us some recommendations to try! We went for the vegetarian chili momo and malai kofta with plain and garlic cilantro naan. The momos definitely felt fresh and even though it was really saucy, the dumplings themselves were pretty crispy. The sauce did have a strong ketchupy taste, but it had a nice kick which I enjoyed! The stuffing in the momos was kind of mushy and I had hoped I could have tasted the vegetables better, but nevertheless was still yummy. The naan was fresh and really soft, which was nice. But I could tell that the naan was just a little undercooked in certain parts, which honestly just comes to preference. The malai kofta had a pretty heavy butter flavor, but was the right level of thickness. The kofta balls themselves were a little firm, but tasted fine with everything. I think this is definitely a solid place in the area to get Nepalese food! The owner loves to serve his customers for the past 2 years, and I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you are in the area! read more

3.75 stars We were hungry around 12:20 a.m., and they were available for a pick-up order. 1. 4 stars for good and fun customer service over the phone and then, we were asked to identify our order at pick up, I think next time, it's best to ask for the name of the person that placed the order (weird vibe) 2 stars for the order of vegetables Samosa only because it was way too spicy even after I removed all the fillings. 4 stars for the mild butter chicken, it was very delicious! 3 stars for the mixed vegetables curry because it was salty 4 stars for the basmati rice and garlic Naan (really tried not to burn the Naan with ONLY 1 black burnt spot) 4.5 stars for the steamed chicken momos! 3.75 Stars for tandoori chicken wrap filled with yummy shredded carrots Total $79.80 (without tips) Will we be back? I can't take too much pepper spiciness, and this was a little too much for me, but I had seconds anyway because it was so good. Solid spot for Nepalese food in Hayward. I decided to grab a quick early dinner here after running some errands nearby. We came by Friday around 4 pm and it was empty, with only one other table dining. The menu has a large selection of both vegetarian and meat dishes. I appreciated that they serve both veggie and chicken momos cooked in a variety of ways, such as fried, fried and tossed in sauce, steamed etc. We shared: Steamed / jhol chicken momo ($13.99 for 8 pieces) Chicken thali ($22.99) Paneer tikka masala ($14.99) I don't get momos often, but I thought these were pretty good. Reminded me of all the Chinese dumplings I'm used to, except with some spices mixed into the filling. The thali came with 3 curries (chicken curry, mix veg curry, and daal) plus veggies, raita, pickles, and gulab jamun. Plus it comes with a TON of rice, enough for 1.5-2 people to share. The chicken curry was my favorite, but it was nice to have a little bit of everything for variety. The paneer tikka masala was my favorite curry dish. The gravy had a delicious richness to the flavor and was just the right amount of sweet without being too sweet. Would recommend Aama to anyone in downtown Hayward looking for a good meal! read more

Very good food and customer service! We tried the Sadheko Momo with chicken and the Vegetable Thali. The Sadheko Momo had a lovely presentation, a delicious filling, and a crunchy exterior. It was a little spicy, which made eating it more fun! The mustard flavor is pretty strong, so I would probably order a different dish if you're not into that flavor. The onions, carrots, etc. on top of the dish were also flavored nicely. My favorite was the Nepali Thali. It came with a curry with lentils, another curry with potatoes, cooked spinach, basmati rice, condiments, a gulab jamun, a crispy wafer/flatbread, and a main curry dish of your choice (I chose the palak paneer). I thought all the curries were really tasty, and that this dish was a great way to sample different ones! There is a large amount of rice, so you don't have to worry about running out when eating it with your curries. The owner was also very friendly and made my dining experience even better! At the end of our meal, they gave us cups of chai. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area again! read more

Delicious food with exceptional customer service. The gentleman at the front of the house was so kind. He gave me a complimentary mango lassi while I waited for my large order to be finished. The chicken chili momo was excellent - sooo flavorful! We also ordered the butter chicken, lamb curry, and garlic naan which were all excellent! Lovely experience. I brought my mother here for a birthday lunch and am so glad I did! The place was clean, aesthetically pleasing, and the food was excellent: tasty, beautifully presented, and a good portion for the price. We weren't sure what to order, so our server made some excellent suggestions based on our appetite. Two plates of momos (chili momos and johl momos) were perfect for a light lunch! They also thoughtfully brought out our carrot halwa dessert with a candle and Happy Birthday writing for my mother! It was such a surprise, and she was so happy! There are a few tables to the left. I browsed the different menus on the kiosk while I was waiting, and another kitchen had empanada de leche so I ordered that also for dessert. I only wish they'd use something other than non-recyclable plastic. And, hopefully this will improve, but I put "no utensils" in three places but they still put them in the bag. 99% of the time I take my food home, so I do not need more plastic utensils that I won't use. (They're supposed to ask if you need them now instead of just sticking them in there.)

I explained that once the bread touched my food, it was cross-contaminated and could make me very sick. He then said he would make me a new one, but he simply took my original container to the back and brought back what appeared to be the same food with the bread removed. I asked for a refund multiple times because I no longer felt safe eating the food, but they refused. In the end, I threw the food away because I didn't trust that it had been remade or handled safely. The lack of understanding about food allergies and cross-contamination was very concerning. People with celiac disease or serious gluten allergies rely on restaurants to take food allergies seriously. Based on my experience, I would not feel comfortable eating here again.
