This is the first time I've ever used AAA. Battery died out. Guy showed up, did a test on my battery, found it was dead, showed me the thing and offers to sell me a new battery. I ask "how much" He says "well, everything is expensive today - it's $240" 240 to install a battery in my car and lug away the other one right now? I have zero problem with that. Does it all in 15 minutes and I'm out. It was probably a little expensive. But the alternative was him giving me a jump, me finding a place to get a battery, wasting the rest of the day and probably dying out again somewhere else. To me, this was absolutely worth it, especially with the speed he got it all done. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is the absolutely awful phone system. Once again, they think you want an automated system. I go through the automated system, it sends me a text with a link so they could find my location, except all it does is give me a map of the US and nothing else. Did literally nothing. I had to call 3 times before I could get someone on the phone and the only way to get someone on the phone is to "cuss" so the system recognizes that you're an "angry customer" because it doesn't give you any other way to speak to someone. For the life of me I will never understand why companies think people want this. Literally no one does. Put a person on the phone and let's get this done. Not have someone go through some idiotic menu system to end up with nothing. Service itself was great. Phone system was the worst. read more

*****Customer Experience During the COVID-19 Pandemic***** I had a very nice experience renewing my DMV registrations here back in July. From technology to safety to service, everything was wonderful and well thought out. I came on a busy weekday afternoon. Upon walking up to the entrance, a friendly staff member, Callie, came out to greet me. After taking down my name, phone number, and reason for visit, she advised me that I would receive text messages regarding my place in line and when they would be ready for me. When it was my turn, Callie escorted me inside and sprayed my hands with hand sanitizer. She then showed me to the one-person waiting area. There, I observed seats and counters were wiped down after each person had left to ensure safety. Social distancing was enforced at all times. Kirsten and Cynthia assisted me with the renewals over two days (I had to come back the next day because I forgot get a smog test for both of my vehicles). They were both very friendly and professional and made a somewhat stressful task as painless as it could be. On my way out, Callie sprayed my hands again with hand sanitizer. She was on the ball with that spray bottle! Before I forget, I also want to give a big shout-out to Stephanie. On another recent visit, she was able to save me close to $300 on my multi-car policy. AAA Pleasant Hill Branch - COVID-19 Safe Environment - Insurance Near Me - Pleasant Hill, California

Liz provided the best customer service I have ever experienced. This level of customer service is non existent in this day and age! My parents gave me a car two years ago and signed over the title to me. I've had the vehicle insured in my name for the last two years. I Paid DMV reg fees at a DMV kiosk but did not receive reg tabs because a smog was needed. After getting the vehicle smogged I went into AAA to get the reg tabs so I could sell the vehicle to CarMax who had given me an offer that expired at the end of the day. I had the pink slip in hand showing the vehicle title was signed over from my parents to me. By the time I got to AAA I had been dealing with issue after issue regarding my vehicle breaking down, the purchase of a new vehicle, my auto insurance company (Not AAA) removing the vehicle in question from my insurance policy in error when adding the new vehicle to my policy, denied road side assistance (Not AAA) as a result of the vehicles removal in error and smog issues. By this time I was already well beyond frustrated with the entire process and had absolutely no patience left. AAA advised they could not give me the reg tabs despite being in possession of the vehicle title showing legal ownership signed over to me because DMV still showed my parents as the registered owner. AAA advised my parents could respond and AAA could issue the current reg tabs to my parents or AAA could initiate a title transfer into my name at which point AAA would issue me a new registration card and tabs in my name but would take the title I had in hand, and advised it would take several weeks to receive the new title. This was not a viable option as CarMax was requiring the current reg tabs and the title in hand to complete the sale. My parents drove 45 min to meet me at AAA office to get the registration tabs issued to them since AAA advised they could only release the tabs to the registered owner shown in the DMV database. Upon my parents arrival at AAA, they were also denied the registration tabs when AAA learned the vehicle was insured in my name and not my parents name. AAA advised the vehicle would have to be insured in my parents name for them to issue the registration tabs to them. At this point the smoke could be seen billowing out of my ears. Liz saw the run around taking place and she pulled us to the side and tried wholeheartedly to do everything she could to help resolve our issue. Liz did internet research, reached out to CarMax chat assistant online and made multiple calls to CarMax trying to resolve the title and registration issue so the sale could take place. I am greatly appreciative of the amount of effort, care and time Liz put forth in an attempt to help me. Unfortunately there was not a timely resolution to my situation as further issues arose when we found the $600 registration fees I paid nearly two months prior at the DMV kiosk were being held by the third party company who operates the DMV Kiosk till the smog check was completed and would take another 3-5 days for the funds to be submitted to DMV. read more

Customer service at this branch is terrible. Emails and voicemail are not returned. When do you get someone on the phone, they try to automatically transfer you to the 1-800 number, where you will sit on hold for over 45 mins; however staff will not give you the courtesy heads up that you are being transferred from their office, you will just realize when you have to go through the menu options again. I understand that there are not many options in CA now for home owner insurance, but I have purchased/hold two policies at this location, so I expect better customer service. Especially when one of the policies was opened days ago, and I never received the final paperwork. If the office is busy, from a customer perspective it would be appreciated if it was acknowledging that "we are busy please and give us a call tomorrow" or actually follow through on promised call back, because that has not been happening. read more

Place is convenient to get to, right off the freeway. Had dmv stuff to do and the appointment was available sooner and quicker than other AAA places so I made it here instead. Car registration stuff was quick and prompt. I don't have insurance or home security with AAA but the towing for AAA has been good in the past and prompt to replace car batteries at home (service accessed by calling the towing hotline or using the app) so they're good to keep around. Seems like they're pushing sales for the home security system but nobody could tell me if any cameras had license plate detection and A.I detection like xfinity's security outdoor camera. (I looked online, it seems like they don't have it but I could be wrong--important features due to car theft and speeding cars causing accidents in neighborhoods lately). But yeah other than the brief security home system sales push everything else was alright. read more

I actually go out of my way to use this branch because of the employees. Dealing with auto issues can be a pain but these folks make it pleasant. My dad has been a customer of this insurance company for years. He is very pleased with the service and he always speaks highly of the receptionists, specifically one by the name Stephanie! HOWEVER today, he went in to receive the yearly license plate sticker he had previously paid for but hadn't picked up yet due to my car not passing a smog check. My car passed the smog check now and he decided he'd go in today to pick it up. He couldn't find a receipt or a confirmation for this purchase, which we recognize can be his fault but the receptionists can also look this up in their system records. When attended by a receptionist, he explains this all to her and rudely keeps asking why he doesn't have a receipt of some sort. He even gave her his drivers license and membership number since he knew she would need this to look it up. She then says "I don't do magic" referring to her not being able to pull up this info. Why would you say this when you KNOW the system allows you to see this kind of information? My dad describes her as young so I don't know if mavbe she's new or wasn't unsure how to, but even if this was the case i've worked many customer service iobs and know to ask fellow coworkers when im unsure of something. After the receptionist kept being rude and dismissive, my dad decided he'd take a seat again and wait for the one receptionist he's known for years by the name of Stephanie. And guess what she was able to do? Pull up his previous purchase of the license plate sticker who the rude worker said she couldn't do because she doesn't do "magic" !!! I have been with AAA since 1994. I'm also a Plus-Member. It's time to move on after my last 2 experiences. Our car died seconds after we entered the Caldecott tunnel a few weeks ago. While we were stuck in the Caldecott tunnel I also called AAA and the Oakland Police for help. The young man with AAA proceeded to ask me the normal questions - - and the he asked for the address as to where our vehicle was. I replied, "There is no address, we are in the Caldecott tunnel on 24 between Oakland/Berkeley". He said he wasn't able to find my location. I replied ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Then the line went dead. He had my number but never called back. The police arrived and pushed our car to the Wilder exit. I called AAA back and told them what happened. They apologized and assured me a tow truck would arrive in 45 min. 45 mins pass. I call back. They said they would call dispatch to see what was the hold up. I was told they didn't even have anyone assigned to my location and apologized. Waited another 1/2 hour, still no show. Called back. They said there were only 2 tow trucks in the Oakland area and both were busy. She said one would be by in 1 hr after they tow another person. I WAS LIVID!!!! My husband decides to try and start the car. The engine turned over but the car was over heating. It was 101° outside. We decided to try and coast home and stayed in the right lane. As we were entering the freeway, AAA truck was just pulling behind another vehicle that was on the side of the freeway - - that wasn't there prior to when we were pushed to the location by the CHP. I'M STEAMING MAD AT THAT POINT! We managed to coast home but the car died as we got off on our exit. We called a mechanic and they came down and helped push the car to his shop. After 25 years it's GOOD BYE AAA!!!! I have multiple car policies, home and umbrella coverage. I'm moving on. Your customer service and reliably leave much to be desired. I guess that's what happens when a company gets to big for its clients. Please don't bother copying/pasting your redundant reply, such as you've done to everyone who gave you a below average rating. You actions have spoken louder that words. You've lost me as a client. I'll take my multi-auto policy, home insurance and umbrella policy elsewhere. I no loner feel safe with you. read more

My parents have been with AAA for decades, but after today, they have lost an entire family of customers. I have used yelp for many years to help me find the best places, but this is my first review due to the egregious way we were treated. We had recently bought a new car and was being financed through a loan. My dad had brought the paperwork in to add the insurance to the car ( a 2020, brand new). We get into a car accident (got hit by a car), which is when we found out the agent (Estefania) had only put in liability only. Important to note that my dad's English is not the greatest. On the phone with AAA, they said to straighten this out with the office that we bought the insurance from We attempt to talk with the office, but the manager (Jacob), refused to allow us to talk with the agent and effectively stonewalled us at the front door. Started driving on Friday late afternoon for a long trek from Walnut Creek to Clearlake. Low Tire pressure light came on and I pulled over. Could clearly see a huge bolt had punctured my tire and it would need to be replaced. Called AAA and was told it would be a 2 hour wait to send someone out. I was about to start putting on the spare myself, but got a text saying that someone would be on their way in 7 mins. Joseph was great. He put my spare on and assessed the tire letting me know that I can probably get it patched and if I hurry, I could make it to Les Schwab to get it fixed. He even gave me directions. Whole process took about 45 mins from the time I placed the call to the end of directions. Life saver! read more

Yesterday I took the new plates that arrived from DMV and my old custom plates from my prior car. I wanted to move the old custom plates to my new car and return the plates to DMV. Then, I was hoping to re-order a new copy of the old custom plates as they were ten years old and were a little beat up from the years of driving. The wait was only a couple of minutes. Karen, who was very friendly and cheerful, said first she would move your old custom plates to the new car. When that was finished she then was able to order a remake of the old custom plates for the new car. (I hope this wasn't too hard to follow.) The process was easy, moved quickly and handled with great professionalism and I had a fun interaction. Karen was delightful, the visit was 100% painless, and the time passed quickly! This is the third recent visit to this AAA branch. It has always been smooth and easy with friendly staff who were always able to take care of my question/problem. They are cancelling home policies for debris without warning probably so that they can cancel insuring ppl for fire protection all together. It was not an issue prior or made well known that this could occur. I have been a customer on and off with them for decades. My policy was cancelled without the ability to remedy the issues of debris which occurred while I was I'll and working 12 hr shifts 6 days a week for months. Even though I have several policies with them. Would not allow me to remedy the issue within the week and keep my policy and gave no warning before hand so I could before being terminated. Just it was in the small print contract and you're terminated. They do not care about your business. For a car accident I was not at fault for they would not request video footage that would prove it delaying the claim and costing me money. They are not the company they used to be. Not worth the additional cost people would pay for better easier service. I was having home improvement projects done on my home and clearing stuff which was mostly stored behind my fence. I have a car I don't use that is currently registered that could use a wash. They could at least give a warning or have you send pictures every so often over cancelling and therefor causing your price to go up and protection to go down. Conveniently when they are trying to get out of providing fire protection under home owner's throughout the state. read more

Tl;dr because of covid my sister and I decided to go here to change the title to my car to her. I thought it would be easier than dealing with the DMV but I was actually so wrong. The agents are not helpful at all. I had my sister go in to do the title change because she still had some information to fill in and I thought the agent would be able to help her. I had my smog from when I renewed my registration back in May. So it was just over the 90 day expiration. However, if the title is being changed between family members it is exempt. This is straight from the DMV website. The agent didn't seem to agree and insisted that this is only applicable between mother and grandmother. She still charges the tax for the registration and then says we need to get a smog check to complete the registration despite this also being exempt. My sister comes back telling me this so now I have to go talk to the agents. I tell them the issue and they tell me that they can't even refund over 100 dollars at this branch, that I have to take that to the DMV. So after they explain this, they don't even tell me what to do now after they took the money from my sister. Like do I get a smog check? Do I still have 10 days to complete the title transfer? Now that you know that we're sisters, why can't I just get the registration done without the smog since it's exempt in CA? This was just a complete waste of time and didn't have to be complicated if the agents just knew what they were doing. Like we have the same last name AND it's being registered to the same address. The agents really just need to do their job correctly because this was annoying. read more
