We didn't know how bad our wiring was when we thought that all we needed was a new panel for our 45 year old home. We called on a Monday night and Jacob was at the house the very next morning at about 9:30 AM. We knew we needed a new electrical panel, a new dedicated line for the kitchen (for Air Fryers, etc.) and another new dedicated line for plug-in EV vehicle. After Jacob's assessment, he also recommended that we replace all the indoor & outdoor outlets and switches. Jacob, Kerry, and Dante installed an electrical panel today. Last week they installed a ceiling light fixture. In both cases the service the service was amazingly fast. When I called about the light fixture, they were here and had it installed within two hours. Our cooktop would not work a few days ago. I called, and Kerry was here early the next morning. He enabled the cooktop to work and discovered several problems with our old electrical panel. The next day he had made arrangements to replace the electrical panel. They came out to check out our problem, charged us $400 to tell us the only thing was that when we were resetting the breaker, we weren't switching it all the way off, only half way off. $400 for that.. Then when I asked if he could install the pendant lights that we have, he said it would be another $300... I said even though all you had to do was switch the breaker on and off? $400 for that? If I had been charged by the hour, my bill would have been less than half. They were at the house for LESS THAN 2 HOURS. High end electricians at emergency rates top out at around $200 an hour. I live out of state, so everything had to be done over the phone. These folks were called by the tenant. I NEVER do business with "charge by the job" people. I called AAA to come out to replace a breaker switch for a bedroom because my treadmill would trip the breaker when speed was applied. 2 people showed up for the service call. Why 2 persons, I don't know why. the first thing they did was to try to set up a monthly plan ? I didn't question all the sales promotion they had I just wanted the breaker replaced. Since they were replacing one breaker for bedroom 2 and 3, I said while your at it replace the master bedroom breaker as well. The two guys that came to check my issue... fantastic!!! I was told on the phone there would be a $69 service call. When they arrived they let me know the company has a $721 trouble shooting fee. Okay. Pretty steep but I needed this issue fixed. They found the problem and were very detailed in their explanation of the issue. They contacted their boss and then quoted the fix at $1400. Absolutely crazy. The parts needed were probably less than $50 to run a bypass about 12 feet and this was a temporary solution. DO NOT USE!!! Absolutely a Bait and Switch company in my opinion. Called to have diagnostic check on one of our Solar Inverters. Came out next day for a $69.95 service call, did nothing but look at the system and write down notes. Then, BAM!, technician throws out the old $468.00 to go any further. When asked "what that entails" he stated he would open up the panels (3) and visually check and smell for possible burnt wires. That's it! No electrical readings or anything that would diagnose the issue with the inverter, which was the main reason we called them out!!! Told him (nice guy) that I could do that myself so no thank you. I was referred to AAA electric by my pool company because none of my equipment was working. I contacted AAA to set up an appointment and was able to get one within a few days but let them know I was available if a cancelation came up. Today they contacted me with a cancelation and Kerry and Al came to do the job. Both were very professional and knowledgeable. As we all know needing something repaired is very stressful. Horribly overpriced for the service you receive. Diagnostic fees are outrageous and way more than other businesses charge. Felt like I was taken advantage of because of the urgency of my electrical issue. They try to upsell at every opportunity and make it seem like you need additional services that you don't, usually after already charging you for something else. They were at my house for two days before realizing the issue was with SMUD. Not before charging me thousands, of course. After SMUD solved the main issue (for free), I used an honest electrician to fix the few remaining nonfunctioning outlets. Turned out they weren't functioning because of some loose wiring in an outlet that AAA ES "fixed". We discussed all the other superfluous recommendations that AAA ES had made and he disagreed, confirming all of my concerns regarding the shady and predatory business practice of AAA Electrical Services. Customer service is also extremely poor. Their phone number is routed through some useless third-party service that protects Ed and everyone in the office from having to deal with all the frustrated marks that fell victim to their scammy business. You end up playing phone tag to get someone on the phone. Would give zero stars if I could. Overpriced and predatory. Stay away. read more

Some outlets and overhead lighting stopped working and I paid these guys $70 to figure out why and see what needs to be done to fix it. They told my wife it would be $1200 to fix everything and I thought that wasn't great but not terrible. They didn't leave an estimate or email it as promised. I called to find out what the problem was and why they didn't send me a written statement. Turns out the $1200 was for a "major diagnosis level III" whatever that is. I thought the $70 was for the diagnosis? They offered to change some light switches that working fine but aside from that did nothing. They're full of crap. I called AAA Electrical July 17 '24 as I needed smoke detectors replaced. The hardwired 10 yr battery had expired and two were going off loudly! Fire Dept. Responded and removed two detectors. I spoke with Jeff to relay my dilemma. He set up appointment for next day and said they carried my type of detectors on their truck. He NEVER mentioned a service trip fee! when Luis arrived next day I was told about the $69.95 charge for showing up. He also showed me the total amount to replace 5 smoke detectors. Detectors included. OMG- $2,283.00 outrageous and a ripoff. No way!!! I paid that undisclosed fee BUT should have disputed it. Beware-ask upfront for service trip fees. I got an Electrical Company (on Yelp) to replace five hardwired smoke detectors for $250.00 and I spent $200.00 at Home Depot to purchase detectors. TOTAL $450.00 VS. Warning! This company is a straight scam! I initially called them out to check my GFI and price my pool for a light repair. I was told of a 69$ trip fee. The electrician Esteban came out to my house in Elk Grove and basically did nothing. The representative tested my GFI and stated it has power. I said exactly but when I plug a cord in there is no operation. He then quoted me near 500$ to replace a plug. I then asked him to price the pool light for replacement. UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS! DO NOT USE! My elderly parents had their electrical panel go out with several melted breakers on a stormy Saturday afternoon. My father found this guy online and called. They came out and quoted 9800 bucks and charged their credit card a 1900 deposit. I came by on Monday when they were starting work and my dad had already sent them home. We got a quote today from a reputable electrician for $2500 max for the panel replacement. This is the going rate for a small panel replacement in the area (1500-3000). I called Ed the owner and he immediately started yelling at me and argued nonsense about permits he was getting etc (which were not ever pulled). We offered to pay for the reasonable time and materials for their expenses incurred for about 2 hours of work for two guys. He refused to refund the $1900 deposit they charged my 82 year old father who is not fully capable anymore of taking care of these situations mentally and does not have the financial resources to withstand nearly $10k for a scam. He mocked my father to me and the fact that I called on his behalf. No idea how terrible people like this can sleep at night and have no ethics. He quoted 4 times the average rate and told me he already had signatures for the deposit and wouldn't return any portion of it. He said we were doing a bait and switch. That's hilarious. This company takes advantage of elderly people and I'll be filing complaints with the state contractors board against this scam company. Unscrupulous fails to describe this company. The owner is a complete @$$ and doesn't talk with you, he talks at you. He kept telling me what I needed not what I wanted... Talked rudely and tried to belittle during conversations. Heard him on the phone talking to an employee and accused our company of messing with the settings for the lights. Which we never messed with the settings as we have contacted them for the 2nd time to resolve. Would have went with a different contractor but landlord picked this company. While working at our location Ed talked to employees disrespectfully, I am shocked anyone would work for him. My only guess is that they are new in the industry and trying to gain experience. I was having company and needed the light switch in the dining room replaced (or so I thought). Since I was told they charge $69 just for showing up I had them look at 2 lights in my kitchen that hadn't worked for several years and had befuddled 2 yahoos in the past. They showed up, took a look at the problems and gave me an estimate of $600!! Gulp! Electrician #1 looked at the switch and saw a place for a battery. In 25 years I've never replaced one. I got one from my stash put it in and it worked. At that point, I appealed the $600 estimate and he lowered the estimate to $390. The problem with the 2 lights was burned out bulbs. I had two of those. Electrician #2 put them back up, I paid and we were good to go. Still seems pretty darn pricey. I wonder how much it would have been if I had not used my own supplies. read more

I called AAA to troubleshoot a problem I was having with my breaker tripping. The technicians looked at my breaker, and wrote me 3 estimates. $450 to replace an outlet, $750 to troubleshoot what was causing the problem and $850 to replace the breaker that was being tripped. I was told there was a $70 charge to come troubleshoot, but that $70 was paid to be told I don't know and I've never seen this type of problem. An expensive lesson, Yelp first This weekend we unfortunately lost power to our subpanel as a large breaker tripped on our main panel. After failing to reset it we started calling electricians for help. The only reason for 1 stars is that AAA answered and sent someone quickly while most others were closed. Betty the dispatcher provided clear information about the process, including that written estimates for the repair would be shared before work was started and that all supplies should be on the truck. She also noted the $266 emergency weekend fee. Once the technician arrived we described our problem with the breaker. His quote, without looking at the subpanel was that he would need to do a "diagnosis" which cost $667. This was frustrating as it was our understanding that we would get a quote for the repair, not an outrageous amount to look, with potential additional charges depending on what was found. He warned us that he doesn't stock the Zinsco Breaker that was our main panel problem, so he would potentially have to go to the store and charge us more, contradicting Betty the dispatcher. Also there was an additional $23 charge for gas on top of the weekend fee, that "the dispatcher forgets to mention". Since we had already paid close to $300 for the tech's presence and no other help was available we felt cornered into moving forward. After we signed we showed the tech the subpanel, and left him to "diagnose" our breaker that wouldn't reset. 10 minutes later the power is back on, and we were getting a lesson that you need to "pump" Zinsco Breakers a few times to get them to reset. That was our problem. Something he could have shared or even tried when he first arrived, we were already paying him a hefty sum to be there. But alas we are now out close to $1,000, but with the knowledge that you "pump" a Zinsco Breaker and to never call AAA Electrical Services. Additional Note: AAA's method of signing quotes also leaves plenty to be desired, the tech mentioned that the iPad frequently "double charges" for things like the emergency fee, but to "sign anyway". This did happen, and thankfully after I caught it the tech did the right thing and removed the double charge. The tech also had us sign that the work had been completed, saying that was how to "approve the quote" on the iPad, making us feel uncomfortable as no work had been done yet. read more

This is a company that ripped me off totally. Please people when people give a negative review it's not for their health it's to help you guys out so that you don't get taken to the bank like we did.!! This guy was sent by American presidential warranty which I had to pay $55 to have him come out and check out what the problem was. So after 5 days of not having water finally came out! 3 days was because of American residential warranty and two days was because the AAA electric. So when Edward eventually got there to check out the problem on my water pressure switch. He sat himself down on the ground tapped on the water pressure switch for about a half an hour and told me to be able to fix it it would cost me $750 for 15 minutes job. That wasn't even including parts. I don't get me wrong Eric it's nice but to be trying to take an early person to the bank is totally wrong and out of line for his company to try to take advantage of people like this. So I paid arw nearly $190 then I paid Edward to service which was $55 then he sent the bill to AR w for $300 and didn't do nothing to receive that money. He ripped off me he ripped up (ARW). SO IN TURN I HAD TO PAY ANOTHER CONTRACTOR TO COME OUT WHICH COST ME $310 Dollars. TO HAVE MY WATER PRESSURE SWITCH REPAIRED. I am so tired of these contractors coming out and taking advantage of the elderly people and trying to get away with it. There are several things that can be done to stop contractors who try to take advantage of people. 1. Go to the contractor's board file a claim 2. Put it on Yelp. 3. Contact BBB the better Business bureau. And if none of those avenues work for you take him to Small Claims Court.
