Just be careful when you're reviewing your bill. They bill you for fuel, even if you live super close to their business. As well, they mark up supplies over double. Even though I asked for full disclosure of costs the owners wife said I was quoted incorrectly for the base cost to come to my place because the scheduler was "new". Interestingly enough, the electrician that came out, quoted the same price as the new scheduler. She told me that she would adjust my bill and acted as if it was a favor. Just be warned that there is a lack of transparency in their costs. I will not be using them again nor will I suggest them to friends and family. read more

Our stove shorted out on Thanksgiving eve, with house full of family and refrigerator full of food. Plan B was using the two burners in the travel trailer and although the grandkids would have loved the adventure, the adults weren't too keen on it... Griffin staff returned my call quickly and within hours Ron was there to save the day. He was fantastic!!! So nice and knowledgeable, he quickly identified the problem and had it resolved in no time. They told me their rates - not cheap, but reasonable and fair. Nick arrived on time. He was friendly, professional, listened to what I wanted, and we agreed to a plan. He advised me I would need to do some sheetrock repair after my new ceiling junction boxes and replacement lighting fixtures were installed, which I agreed to. Nick did the job promptly and exactly as we had discussed. His work was so masterful that I only had to apply a teaspoon of spackle and paint two areas about the size of a dime afterwards. Ron came to my house today to help me work through some issues that came up in a house sale inspection report required by the City of Davis in order for me to put my house on the market. So we lost power to 1/2 our house. It was a Saturday night, so we made do until the morning. Called Griffin at 8am Sunday morning. They said they could do the job today and would get back to us "shortly" with an eta. 10am we called back. used Griffin once before and was very happy. This time I needed an existing 220 line split into two 110's. A simple job requiring 2.5 hours of labor, two circuit breakers to change the 220 into two 110 lines, about 10 feet of romex, and the parts to create an outlet. I was quoted approximately $1400 for the job! I called to question it, but was told the owner was out sick and only he could adjust the quote. I waited about a week and still no owner. Sadly, I boxed myself in, because of scheduling and had to have Griffin do the work for the $1400. Although I asked, I never heard from the owner. I know I chose to have them do the work, even though the bill seemed incredibly high. I jammed myself into a corner. My real complaint is that no one responded to what should have been a simple adjustment. They got my money, but lost my business... read more

Griffin electric was easy to get ahold of for a free evaluation and to sign our contract once we agreed to the work. However, we had a very hard time getting ahold of these guys after we signed our contract and paid our deposit. It took a long time to get work scheduled. Our house was left dirty after the electrician finished. And when we questioned the technician as to why he left it such a mess he "forgot the plastic" and "wiped down the counters when he was done". We have had windows and new insulation put in by other companies that did not require a deposit, were very on top of communication, and our house was left spotless so I really do feel it's acceptable to be upset. We also called to let Griffin electric know our issues and were told we would receive something from them in the mail, and that never happened. Would not recommend. read more

Our house needed a couple of "small" things done but still had to be taken seriously: a ceiling light that needed replacing but had been installed without a box, a bare but taped wire hanging down into our garage that we didn't know the status of, installation of a GFI in the garage and maintenance on an exterior GFI in the garden. Ron showed up on time with a smile and focus and jumped right in. Before we knew it he had the ceiling light box and fixture installed properly, identified the hanging wire as LIVE, then used it to install the garage GFI. He always kept us apprised of how much time he was taking and what our cost was at each juncture and what it would be if it took more than an hour. He then got down on the ground in the garden to get that GFI back in working order and when he soon finished asked if we needed anything else. I find it shady that one of their employees did work for my mother and offered her a 'senior discount', but it would only be honored if he could take a photo of her driver's license with his phone (personal? work phone? your guess is as good as mine.) My mother is in her 80's, there was no need to look at her driver's license, let alone take a photo of it. I emailed the company and expressed my concern over customer privacy, was this a work-assigned phone, and personal phone, what are you doing with the photos? Why even take photos? The company that I work for had our building's primary breaker fail. This occurred on a Sunday afternoon. By Tuesday morning, we were open for business again. Griffin sent people on Sunday night to diagnose the issue. Griffin corrdinated SMUD, got permits on Monday morning and managed to get us a county inspector same day. They performed the removal of the breaker and found us a "loaner breaker" that allowed us to get power restored on Monday night while our permanent breaker was shipped. Griffin then once again swapped the "loaner" breaker with our permanent breaker. If I could give Griffin six stars, I would. If you are in a pinch for time or have a high stakes job, I recommend Griffin Electric. read more

I am so thankful that I found a company who does such great work. My electrical in my kitchen kept shorting out and popping my circut breakers.. I called griffin electric and ask them to come out and look at. They (at no charge) came out to my home and looked at my electrical panel and found that first the circuit breaker was bad and that who ever wired my home before I purchased it, had to many other appliances on the same circuit... They put my dishwasher on a separate outlet, (which they installed) and my refrigerator on it's own plug...(which they ran a new wire from the panel box to my kitchen for my refrigerator) Everything is running great, and the problem has been solved.... They gave me a great price on the repair and told me if I had any other problems, they would come out and take care of it... Griffin Electric has helped me three times now: 1. Replaced ballast in kitchen lighting when selling home. 2. Installed four new ceiling fans in new home. 3. Replaced 12 LED-compatible dimmer switches throughout new home. The ones that came with the house caused LED dimmable bulbs to flicker badly. The new ones ( Lutron Skylark) do not flicker. The dimming can be adjusted on the switch to whatever level of lowest light you desire. Paul was my tech for all the work done at the new house. Paul is very skilled at what he does. I called this company up after hours left a message with there answering service said they would return my call the next day.Well they never called so i thought maybe the message did not get to them gave them the benefit of the dought. I called them at 11:00 the next day the lady that answered the phone said she got my message but was scheduling jobs at the moment and would call me back and she was very rude. she never called me back so i called again at 3:30 to let her know to take me off the list because of very poor customer service but nobody answered but i did leave a message. 3 day's later i get a call from her she said i know it has been a few day's but wanted see if i still needed work apparently she dose not listen to messages either. I then went on very nicely to tell her no and why and she was very rude again and slammed the phone down on me for no reason. very piss poor service !! these are the kind of companies that will survive in these times because of covid everybody is slammed with work! I know enough about wiring and switches to get myself zapped big time. I bought several smart switches and wanted to install them. After what seemed like hours on youtube trying to figure out all the wires coming out of my light fixture I called Griffin on a recommendation of a friend. Paul Fallgreen came out quickly, and on time. I explained my issue and and asked a ton of questions. He showed me that I had the wrong switches for where I wanted to put them, but he did wire one up on a circuit that would work for my switch. He then showed me how to wire up 3 pole switches for when I got them. He was funny and very informative. I never felt that I was being talked down to at all. I rather enjoyed his visit. Now Paul could have installed the switch and left, but he really took the time to help me out and saved me a lot of money. He only charged me the minimum service call and was on his way. I am very happy with his service and would highly recommend them. PS at time of this review thanks to Pauls advise my house is all wired up with smart switches and the ladies in my house can now turn on lights before they get home at night. read more
