Had solicited quotes through several vendors to install our EV charger and we ended up going with Charles Young. Throughout the solicitation and appointment setting process the staff at Charles Young was great and professional. We had specific requirements as we were using SMUDs rebate program and they had not issues with it. The service requested included permitting. After running all the quotes, CY had one of the best prices when accounting for the permit. The day of the installation came and the employees that came to install got right to business. There was some initial difficulties as it seems like the conduit that was installed by the builders was installed properly but throughout the time spent there both of the techs were very professional. The easy part ended up taking quite awhile do to the conduit but they ended up fixing the issue and installing the breaker, outlet, romex, and mounting the charger without any other issue. Afterwards the permitting process was handled quickly and professionally by the staff. All we had to do was provide the documentation completed to the city to get it properly permitted. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it resolved by phone, but one of his electricians came out the next morning and had everything working in about 15 minutes at a very reasonable rate. Sent a message over the weekend, and Charles got back to me and said he'd call me Monday morning. Sure enough first thing he called to talk about what I needed. My GFCI outlets didn't work. He even told me how to troubleshoot it over the phone in case it was an easy fix. But it needed to be replaced. He was able to fit me into the schedule that day since I was close by. George came out and was very friendly and professional, got the job done quick. He even gave me some advice when I asked about a couple other non urgent issues. I called Charles young company last week i believe Thursday and they came out the next day. The job i needed done was to switch my light switches to the other side of my wall. I'm having cabinets custom built in this nook and light switches would prevent them from being flushed to the wall. It was two guys and i can't remember their names. I'm terrible with names. Anyway They initially came to do an estimate but had time to do the job once i approve the estimate. They were efficient, timely and very nice. The price was reasonable for me as well. Job didn't take long at all. They cleaned up the debris and was done. Would i recommend this company for electrical work? Yes i would. They updated our electrical panel to 200 amps. It was done quickly and everything was set up nicely. They were on time. We did a sub panel for our garage as well with extra lights outside. As a homeowner, I now have the opportunity to actually make home improvements. My new house was equipped with state of the art recessed fluorescent lighting - state of the art for 2007! When it was time to finally replace all of them, I found Charles Young through Yelp. They serve the Sacramento area and do a lot of LED replacements. I wanted to replace the aging fixtures with the new flush LED lighting. Working with Charles, he found the appropriate fixtures that were equipped with adjustable light temperatures which were perfect. The installation was rather large with 20 fixtures throughout the house, but his offer was prompt and competitive which was nice. The installation took several hours due to the sheer number of replacements and a few small issues. The team was professional and cleaned up after the job. The results are spectacular. My house looks much better, and I do not have to worry about a bunch of old lights crapping out randomly. LED lasts a long time and can handle the constant on and off of a house. Replacing a few fixtures yourself can be somewhat easy if you have the time and equipment. The electricians who showed up were prepared to work safely electrically and pandemic-ly. I asked them to retrofit my annoying CFL light cans in my kitchen with LED lights. This is a standard enough request that they had enough kits on their truck, and they charged a flat rate per light. It took them a little more than an hour. I was concerned that the LEDs would not be bright enough because they were rated at 650 lumens and were replacing 4 inch (not 5 inch) cans. The manufacturers need to get their stuff together because these LEDs, replacing similar rated CFLs, were much brighter. The electricians were smart enough to get the kits with selectable color temperature, so the result is that I can finally see enough to cook in my kitchen now. Bonus was that the guys were affable and talkative. I'm totally satisfied, and my house already feels much better. read more

I'd like to start by saying that today wasn't the first time I've used these guys. I should've left a great review the first time, but I'm lazy. Jordan and, I think it was Henry, came over to fix my mistake today. I had fried something in my house by plugging my RV into a wall socket. I know it's not the smartest move. Don't judge me. There was a lot going on at the time and it had been a long week. Worth saying this isn't the first time Jordan has had to troubleshoot my house. When we first bought a few months ago, we had some electrical issues that he resolved. Both him and his partner work fast and do a great job of sorting out your issue. Anyway, they got my power back up in my old house which was built in 1949. Half the house was down so it was certainly a challenge. Also, a friend suggested someone else and since this all occurred on a Sunday and we were going out of town we called that guy. The other guy came by as we were leaving but did nothing but give us an estimate. A flat rate that was no less than $200 more than what Charles Young's team charged us. By the time we got back in town Monday night we called Charles Young Elec who made a point to get us an appt within a day or so. Lastly, Charles himself gave a call this afternoon to let me know his electricians were tied up with a challenging house and would be a few more hours later than expected. No big deal.
