I purchased their policy thinking they are cheap and non-profit. Unfortunately after eight months, we met with an accident on Friday. Here is the bad things I found with them. I found them much worse than for profit companies. 1) I tried to get rental car but phone rep said you will only get it Monday. Eventually, I took the car Tuesday. Only car rental they allow is $25 a day means compact car at Hertz. 2) Adjuster in Colorado never picked up my call. Most of the times she did not return my call. Eventually I got hold of her email which she did not reply timely or never replied She never informed about whether car rental was extended or not.. She had been really poor in updating what is going on with Car. 3) Local adjuster decided to total my one year old car. The amount she gave me is $800 less than KBB value. 4) I did not find any politeness, courtesy or good manners in any of people I interacted in this accident. I needed to replace my car's license plates because one was stolen. I found the DMV paperwork online and filled in the form. I wasn't sure if AAA could handle this request, but I was pleasantly surprised that they could. I walked over to this office at lunch-time expecting a line. There was no line! The DMV desk person waived me over when I waked in and was really friendly. He was able to help me out and I was out of there in less than 5 minutes with 2 replacement license plates, tags, registration for just the normal $20 the DMV would charge. I had no idea I could do my dmv here... Wow no line, no wait, no stress....just this was worth the premium.

I don't understand what's going on with AAA roadside assistance. I called one evening for them as my car's fuel pump stopped working. They told me "no longer than 45 min". An hour later, and already dark, I asked where the tow was, and was told "another 45 min". Again the time passed, and was told they would be there in five minutes. No one showed. Finally a tow called and said he was on his way. THREE HOURS AFTER MY INITIAL CALL, the tow finally showed. He was also not provided any of the details by AAA about my car and where I was. On further inquiry, he said he gets a lot of calls from AAA insured people waiting three hours. I'm in a major metro area, and there are plenty of tows. I called one guy who said he could come over, but of course I would have to pay. AAA's had no explanation other to say it was "unusual", and they are 'non- profit". However, this is no excuse for when its late at night and alone. If it was my wife I would have been concerned. On another occasion last year I had to wait two hours, again in a major metro area. 5/24/15 update - Despite a follow-up communication from AAA, not much has happened and I see they have let down other people in the past 12 months as well. Of course I realize there are probably many satisfied customers, but my experience was poor. read more

Not sure why this place is getting bad reviews? I've been going to this AAA office for years and have no issues. My agent, Vincent Ledara is awesome. Always calls me back the same day and handles all my insurance issues promptly. The DMV service is great too. Except for one technician who was rude but no longer works there. My wife uses the travel services too on almost all of our family trip planning. For RV owners... They insure those too!! read more

I recently had a complicated DMV transfer of ownership when I purchased a used vehicle. The staff at the DMV window was not only amazingly pleasurable to deal with, they were knowledgeable of the needed paperwork and forms. I am a Premier Member which cost about a $129 a year, I would pay three times that amount just to continue to deal with their professional staff. I could give the individuals name who helped me this time but that would not be fair because all previous contacts with staff have been pleasurable. Just had my first claim with AAA and I can't begin to say how satisfied I am with their services. Thank you Will for all the help!

So today I gave them a call to make sure they still are doing passport photos and specifically if they can do them to Canadian passport photo specifications. (They did my American ones and they were passable.) Yes, they said, we can do them. BUT, they said, the last 5 customers who had them done had them rejected. Okaaay. So to me, that answer should have been more like "No, we can't do them." Just a word of warning to any others needing their Canadian passport photos taken at this particular office. I've used AAA offices in both Texas and Massachusetts for them, but clearly this office can't figure it out. read more

AAA recently advertised that they have notary services. We scheduled an appointment to have documents signed and it was a pretty disappointing experience. They appear to be new to this service and didn't understand what documents we wanted signed. Went to a really notary and there was no problem. Please don't advertise a service if you don't have the experience and training to actually offer it. read more

I'm comparing to the service I have received at other AAA offices. Terrible front desk service. I needed an International Drivers Permit, which seemed like an inconvenience. After I received it, I went back to the front desk to get a couple maps. Stood around for a long time so I got them out of the cabinet myself and left. read more

This place really is a one stop shop for everything related to travel. I was curious to get an insurance quote because the "other guy" had AAA and his insurance company was much easier to deal with and did a much better job going to bat for him. I found out it wasn't only better insurance but it was actually cheaper than what I had been paying. This alone probably would have been enough, but Sheri proceeded to explain all the other benefits. Everyone there seemed courteous and professional, and Sheri truly went above and beyond. I knew that AAA had discounts for hotels etc., but I had no idea just how far it goes. Discounts on just about everything under the sun AND-- they have DMV services! When I went back to State Farm to show them my new declarations and cancel my old policies, I was reminded just how different the two companies were. It really is night and day. Sheri treated me better, she knew more, and she was able to find discounts not only my insurance, but AAA discounts that have saved me money on my regular travel. Had representative Alan help us with purchasing tickets at the Dublin branch. It seemed that we were a inconvenience to him as he huffed and puffed about the questions we had. When we needed more than they allowed he had to ask a supervisor for authorization, because of this he rolled his eyes and made the hand motion that suggested him shooting himself. I have been a Member for over 30 years and this branch is the WORST That AAA has to offer in my experiences.The people there are rude, could care less about you and are not that helpful. If you need AAA services go to the office in San Ramon. They are MUCH!! nicer, friendly and courteous. Travel resources and the agent assistance were great.

I have been a member for 45 years and I purchased a membership for a friend recently only to find he never received it. When I tried to get things resolved, they found the membership but were not willing to change or extend the membership for the lost 4 months. I also purchased a new vehicle and notified them right away but after two phone calls, one office visit and waiting a month I have never received any documents proving I have coverage. Tell that to the cop who asks for proof of insurance. Poor, poor customer service. read more
