Purchased a used vehicle at auction and did all my dmv paperwork at my local dmv because AAA won't do accept auction paperwork. DMV said I would receive plates and title in 30days. Got the title but never got the plates. I go into AAA Burbank and do the paperwork for never received (no plates/no registration). Asian man behind the counter hands me new registration and sticker and no plates. I said I need plates? He says u should have told me, I did and look at the paperwork I checked the box for plates also. Ten minutes later he says he can't do anything about it and says now I have to go to DMV to fix HIS MISTAKE! If you go to AAA Burbank make sure you don't get this employee. He didn't listen to what I told him I needed and now I have to go stand in line at DMV for at least an hour because of his mistake. read more

While I have no problems with the DMV services and most of the policy salespeople, I did have a glaring issue with Carlos A, one of the management staff. I ran into an issue last year where the state wrongly recorded my odometer reading by several thousand miles. My insurance was going to jump and I was going to end up paying much more than I normally do. Carlos assured me that if I forwarded him pictures of the odometer readings from my cars, he would fix my policy, before it couldn't be fixed. Many unreturned phone calls and emails later, I gave up and ventured to the Encino AAA branch. I wish I remembered the name of the amazing woman who helped me, but she was puzzled I was getting the runaround and fixed my problem within five minutes. According to a conversation I had with the State Bureau of Automotive Repair at the time, the agent told me that most auto insurance companies were looking for any reason to increase premiums and that's likely why they were trying to gouge me. Realistically, I think Carlos was trying to take me for a ride on my insurance policy. So again, DMV services, sure. Policy changes or fixes, I'd look elsewhere. read more

I had to sell my car and I literally had a few hours left in the day to do it due to my lease ending and my registration ending the next day. I didn't want to do this but this company is relentless. We were a AAA household for at least ten years. Cars, house bundle family...took the advice of my in laws and went all in with them. Not sure if I saved any money with them but it didn't matter. Car insurance seemed fine except for the fact that they wouldn't provide classic car insurance for one of my vehicles, which should have been a red flag but I didn't follow that lead. The most frustrating part of their business was the homeowner's insurance. Mind you our house was inspected before we were approved for homeowners insurance from the roof to the tiles and everything was fine at first. Then every cyclical year we'd receive an overage check from them and our HOI was dropped. EVERY YEAR! I'd call and they would tell me our escrow didn't send the final payment yet still we'd receive a check for the exact amount they were asking for. I'd call and they were always confused and would say something to the effect of "oh it looks like your escrow company's last payment was sent back, some kind of date issue, we'll call them and sort it out, there's no reason for this to be happening". Yet still every year the same thing would happen. And I guess I would have continued on with that but what happened over the last five years of our business with them was even more insane. So firstly, they threatened to drop us for our old house not being bolted down to the foundation (which is common), I didn't know about that fact until they brought it up... 7 years later? So whatever I had it retrofitted. A year later they dropped us for some kind of an issue with adding on to our property. Whatever, sure it was addressed and fixed but then they said "we are dropping you because our new policy is that we no longer insure houses with flat roofs". Okaaaaaay. So our business with them was done. Fine. We moved on to another insurance company which is bundled with everything we need and I never receive calls or notices or overage checks or anything that suggests they are unhappy with our business. I call when I need info about our coverage but that it! I love it. Todaaaaaaaay... we walk in to update our car registration (which is really the best part about AAA, that and roadside assistance) and they are saying that they want to offer us insurance again. I walk away but the wife is intrigued in the idea of saving a penny or two (aren't we all these days). She goes through the whole song and dance and they then tell her that our continual challenge with them for the ten years were with them was because we filled out something incorrectly ... seriously? There is a clear paper trail as to why we were dropped and it had nothing to do with incorrect paperwork. Maaaaaaybe one day AAA will get their policies together and offer headache free insurance where the customer receives an approved service that they want and are left alone with the insurance policy that they pay for. Also! Please leave the customer alone that you clearly didn't want to insure. It's embarrassing to see you grovel over something you clearly don't want. It's also confusing. I am so glad I joined AAA (they had a discount sale period, so bonus!) and went to this AAA in Burbank. I had a complex DMV matter that I couldn't handle via DMV online, DMV is a place I dread even without COVID making appointments impossible and long lines more daunting than Splash Mountain on a hot day. I called ahead about my problem to supervisor Martin who told me what to bring and he'd take care of me. When we got there the place was COVID organized and Martin got us right in to Erik, a wonderful AAA expert where we got to sit down, and he walked is right through the process painlessly and without any hassle - we wound up saving time and money on our DMV transaction. Stopped by on 12/20/21 to pay my membership renewal and also my vehicle registration. The lady working the check-in desk was friendly and upbeat. She sent me to the correct line to wait in. There really was hardly any wait at 10:00 am. The next person who assisted me, Nancy, was super helpful and friendly. I wanted to make sure I was signed up for automatic membership renewal because my credit card on file had expired. I was going to make this payment by check, but Nancy was definitely looking out for me when she pointed out it was cheaper to make the payment on my credit card as an automatic renewal payment. Next, I wrote a check for the DMV for $575, and handed Nancy my DMV registration form. She then noticed on her computer that I only owed $528. We then concluded I accidentally brought my DMV registration form from the previous year! I'm so glad she caught that. I wrote a new check, and she was still able to process my registration even though I didn't have the current form. I felt terrible for wasting Nancy's time, but she was more than happy to help! I am truly upset with the level of communication provided by the representative, which has been nothing short of abysmal. From the very beginning of my claim process, I have struggled to get any meaningful updates or information about my claim status. Despite my repeated attempts to contact the representative assigned to my case, I have been met with nothing but silence and indifference. I understand that insurance claims can be complicated, and that it may take time to process and resolve them. However, as a paying customer, I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect when dealing with your representatives. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience at all. I've had their insurance for a little over 3 years now, and added another car to my policy last year making it 3 coverages in total. My truck, my renters insurance, and now another vehicle. The most recent car was FULLY covered with collision on it, even though its a 1999. It's a super clean Lexus with only 43K miles. Beautiful car. I got into a minor accident back in November, that they only put me at 50% at fault for (a woman swooped in front of me on the 101 and slammed into a Porche... I couldn't stop in time, so I hit her in the back while trying to avoid). Anyway, I think I'm Gucci! I got full coverage, plus collision! My airbags didn't deploy, and my car is driving great still... no indicator lights are on! I'm cool right? Um.... no. At their suggestion, I go to their contracted repair shop. They take pictures of my car, and that's it. Didn't pop the hood, didn't even physically touch it. They tell me that they will email both me, and AAA the estimate very soon. Ok. Three weeks go by. I low key forget about it cuz bitch... I'm busy. Plus, I figure AAA will follow up. I get a letter in the mail from AAA saying their going to cancel my claim because they haven't recieved the estimate! Uh... don't you think you should call your repair shop? I call my agent... WHO IS LITERALLY NEVER AVALIABLE BY PHONE... EVER. So I talk to another agent. I told her I have no idea why North Hollywood Toyota hadn't sent the estimate, because I went a couple weeks prior.
