Wow, this was the absolute quickest experience I've ever had at any AAA location. I was in the area and needed to take care of something so stopped in around 3pm on Friday. We were quickly checked in and directed to another line (with no one in it). We were helped almost immediately, faster than we were ready (filling out a form). I was shocked, I've never been to any location where I haven't had to wait at least 15 minutes. The employee was friendly and processed what we needed. I can't remember her first name but I was fixated on her last name because it was 'Rude' and she was anything but - she was so friendly, kind, and happy. AAA - was my first time at this location, and it didn't disappoint. Service was fast, professional and friendly. It took me less than 20 minutes to finish what I needed and get the stickers. I knew that my choosing to become a member was a great decision. They are taking care of you, always available to answer questions or assist you with whatever questions you have. I have my car and residence insurance through them as well. Thinking about getting a life insurance and traveling needs through them as well, that's still in process, but looks promising. Dear management and employees, I am writing to formally express my deep frustration and disappointment with the service I recently received at your AAA branch located on W. Alameda Avenue. This experience was not only inconvenient but also a significant waste of my time due to repeated miscommunication and a lack of organization. I have been a loyal AAA customer for several years, and this location has always been the most convenient for me. In the past, I have consistently received excellent service here, which is why this particular visit was especially disappointing. On the day of my visit, I arrived promptly at 9:09 a.m. when the office just had opened and checked in without issue. I was informed that payment could be made via credit card, cash, or check. While this was acceptable, it conflicted with information I had received during a previous visit, when I was told that only credit card or cash were accepted. Because of that prior experience, I had previously gone out of my way to locate an ATM and withdraw cash unnecessarily. This inconsistency reflects a lack of clear communication. After checking in, I waited approximately 20 minutes while only two clerks were assisting customers in the DMV service area. When I approached the check-in desk to ask about my status, I was told that my name had already been called and was asked if I had moved. I explained that I had been seated in the same place the entire time. This situation was extremely frustrating, as it demonstrated a clear breakdown in organization and communication within the office. Shortly afterward, I was called again. However, during my transaction, I was informed that my registration fee was higher than what I had originally been told. While I understand that fees can change, the issue was that I had only brought the amount of cash I had been instructed to bring. As a result, I was forced to leave yet again to go back to the bank. This repeated back-and-forth turned what should have been a simple visit into a prolonged and frustrating ordeal. Overall, this experience was a significant waste of my time and caused unnecessary stress. The lack of organization, inconsistent information, and poor communication made the entire process far more difficult than it should have been. As a long-time customer who has come to expect a high level of service from AAA, I found this visit to be particularly disappointing. Upset, with good reason. Been paying members of the club for a decade plus, hardly ever used the service - I think once for a battery replacement. Today I had asked my partner to go to this branch to take care of the family transfer of a title we were receiving. This is a routine service that AAA provides, and there was nothing difficult or nonstandard about the transfer. Long story short, there was an interaction where my partner was misled, despite being very clear about what she wanted to do, into paying a very large fee to AAA/DMV, and when the error was brought to the attention of the AAA staff - it was met with accusations and the decree that my partner should have "done their research" before coming in. The last part, in particular, is a frustrating and difficult thing to hear from an employee of AAA, as we obviously go the branch for help, guidance, and facilitation of DMV matters - and not to get caught in some "gotcha" moment. There simply shouldn't be room for there to be an adversarial interaction at all. The fundamentals of the interaction were that the employee had added some extra rules and qualifications to the process - ones that don't actually exist, and despite my partner being very explicit what they wanted to do, they were not given the opportunity to do so. The correct form was literally taken away as they were filling it out, and replaced with the incorrect form, which my partner was essentially coerced into filling out and signing (documents not intended for a family transfer). Every time, the employee doubled down on their incorrect knowledge of the rules and procedures. I understand that things can get uncomfortable when errors like this occur, and that folks can get immediately defensive when their mistakes are pointed out. However, when we make a mistake at work, ultimately we work to correct 'our' error, rather than blaming the customer who came to us for help, piling additional work on them - work that wouldn't have existed if we had done our job with the minimum competence required. A supervisor at the branch has committed to making this right, and this review will be updated with the results of their actions when they do resolve this. I would caution those who do plan to visit this branch - do not assume that the employee you interact with either a) has an adequate understanding of the DMV rules to help you and b) has your best interests at heart. Update: Ethan, a supervisor, took point on this. The initial resolution was last minute and not really possible (a call mid-Monday morning that if we can make it to the office in less than an hour it can be resolved, otherwise need to visit dmv). The second resolution was to go the dmv to correct this (after a second visit to this AAA branch). The dmv visit ended up involving both a dmv manager and dmv auditor, as well as the desk agent. The conclusion was that, in large part due to additional errors with the AAA paperwork that they were able to discover (AAA had marked the payment method as something other than what it was), the dmv had no avenue to resolve the issue that wouldn't have put the agent involved in serious jeapordy (they basically would have needed to write us a check, with the reason being "trust me bro"). All the DMV agents were really on top of their game. This necessitated a third visit to the AAA branch, whereupon we were told that they could try another method - but it would take a few days. Today is a few days later, and with a fourth visit to the AAA branch it seems to be resolved, we await the promised check in the mail. Ethan, who had been put in the unenviable position of correcting another's mistake, was helpful and professional throughout. With a total of five office visits spread between AAA and the DMV, all told this took the better part of an 8 hour workday to resolve. After the refund check comes, will send a polite email to the CEO of the auto club, commending Ethan for his help, and asking the price of this year's AAA dues be refunded. read more

I am an English professor, and today one of my students was distraught. She was scammed out of 9,000 dollars at this location. They charged her 450 dollars for a month of insurance and then when she said she wanted to pay the full year, they charged her 8,600 dollars! She has limited English and the woman who helped her knew this. Her bank has now notified her that this money is now in Russia! What an illegal and disgusting situation with a brand we all assume is reputable, AAA. She is now struggling to get these thousands of dollars back from her bank. She has to wait up to 90 days. Imagine going to purchase insurance and being defrauded by a vile person trying to take advantage of the situation. What kind of people work here? I will be helping her file a report with the Better Business Bureau and we will contact a Spanish speaking television station to shed light on what the scammers are doing to people in the community. I got my international driving permit and travel insurance in 1 trip within an hour. Kylie super attentive explaining the travel insurance plans while giving me forms to fill out for my driving permit. He paid extra attention making sure the policy doc. Info all correct before I left. As for the permit, they even have photo booth only cost $10 for passport photos. So convenient. Definitely go on line to make reservations. They have a very large parking lot and some decent choices of restaurants nearby if you have to wait far too long. Overall I'm a big fan of AAA. I've had a membership for a few years now, but this location has been a let down almost every time I've been to it. The last time they passed me around like I just tested positive for Covid-19. They called out what service I needed done with my insurance and it was one agent after the other shaking their heads saying they were busy. Now I've worked in sales, I understand they make money when they sell policies. The follow through is lacking at this location. Today, I arrived at 4:51, I thought they closed at 6:00. I was informed the insurance department all left by 4:45. Their advertised closing time, 5:00. They said due to Covid they leave earlier? That doesn't make sense to me. It seems they would see the customers they do have spending money on their services. I'm tempted to look elsewhere for insurance. I will return tomorrow, frustrated. Update: Returned today an hour before they closed just to make sure. Now the guy greeting was kind today. And the woman who helped me with the dmv info was also kind. The cashier was rude. All to be told that they don't handle release of liability from a car to the DMV, but I did make sure the car was removed from my policy. I've come to the conclusion, that while the AAA perks are great, and the insurance is fine, this location isn't the most hospitable place. Maybe look for a different one! read more

I have been a member since 2012, and I have never had any major issues with AAA until today. I lost the only key to my vehicle, I called about getting a replacement and was told AAA can't help, and I need to go to the dealership as the key needs to be reprogrammed (which I find out later was a lie). After talking with the dealership, they set me up with an appointment for 9 am the following day. This is where the fun begins. I called AAA at 7:45am in the morning for a tow, and they showed up very fast (which I was pleased with). I talked to the driver and he said I needed to call a locksmith because he can't get into the vehicle to put it in neutral (this would have been nice to know prior to calling for a tow, also dont all AAA drivers carry a slim jim and bag to open doors). So the driver left, and I called AAA back to send out a locksmith. After the locksmith showed up, he asked me why I was going to the dealership for a key, as he could do the same thing. I told him it's a little late as i already had an appointment and paid for the part through the delearship. He didn't say another word to me, unlocked my car, and drove off. I then called AAA back for a tow, which they then told me was going to be at 10:21am (it is now 9:00). So I called the dealership and informed them I would definitely be late and explained the situation (they were completely understanding). After the hour and a half was up, I received a message on my phone saying he was delayed to 10:40 am. After waiting till 11:15 am and no driver showing up, I called AAA back, and they re took all my information, as if it was a new call (even tho the tech asked if i was getting a new key made). I then received a new ETA of 12:18 pm. Which I waited for, and again it was delyed to 12:26 pm, after waiting until 12:30 pm and no driver showing up, I asked for a status. To my supprise was now an ETA of 2:00 pm. To say I am pissed at this point is an understatement. I then called AAA and vented, and they said they could not do anything about it, so I canceled the call. I then called a local tow truck and had them come pick up my vehicle (were at my house in 20 mins) and drop it off at the dealership. Which cost me 250 dollars out of pocket. As I said, I have been a loyal customer for 13 years. Not to mention all my family members who have been members for much much longer. I have since canceled everything I have with AAA, membership, roadside assistance, and insurance. They have now lost me as a lifelong customer, and I will be telling all my family about this as well. read more

I was looking to purchase earthquake insurance for my home. Spoke with Katherine Pena who sent me a quote. I called back and asked her if I am able to lower the didactible. I was told that it is not possible but she will call me back. She never called back! Left her a voice mail but she never got back to me. Sent her 2 emails asking her to go ahead and do the paperwork for my new insurance. Nver heard back from her! However, she sent me an email with a telephone number of the virtual assistant. This was of no help and I am sure she was aware of it, but intentionally, she gave me this number. Left a voice mail to Harold, her manager but he never called back. After 2 weeks, I decided to call again and I was able to connect with an agent, I believe his name was John, and in few minutes I was able to purchase earthquake insurance. Terrible customer service!
