I'm disappointed with my experience. My premium jumped by $800-$900 with no clear or direct notice, and the policy was auto-renewed without my explicit consent--even with such a significant increase. When there's a price change this large, you'd expect clear communication and some form of confirmation. Instead, the only message I received was a vague "Your auto renewal is all set," which didn't clearly explain the new rate. After contacting customer support, I was repeatedly told that an email had been sent, but I never received anything that actually outlined or justified the increase. There was no real accountability or attempt to resolve the situation. Overall, the process felt frustrating and poorly managed. a newer car. I was paying $126 a month for my 2016 Ford Focus and due to the accident even though it wasn't my fault, it goes up to $150. So, frustrated, I start shopping around for new car insurance and get a quote from Geico for $153 and some change instead of $182 and some change. I call Progressive to see if they can beat or match the Geico quote and they say that they can't. Once this month is up with Progressive, I'm switching over immediately to Geico. I will never do business with Progressive insurance ever again. My 2016 Ford Focus was being financed and I'm still responsible for the remaining balance which is approximately $7k which means I'll still have to pay that monthly payment along with the new car payment that I have all because they're sitting around doing nothing to get me paid the value of the car so that I can figure out what will be left to pay. I'll be impatiently waiting to hear about what my options are when or if they are ever presented to me. Buyer beware. And always remember to have GAP insurance which is what I thought I had through the lender. read more

Progressive practicing legalized extortion. We changed a car on our insurance policy and they sent us a bill doubling our premium. They didn't say when we solidified the change that we were agreeing to that new price automatically, so when we switched to a different company so we could cancel Progressive, they said we owed $100 in remaining balance because we chose to change the policy. Never mind that we had no knowledge that just inputting the change would result in immediate money due. They say we agreed to it when we changed, but how are you supposed to agree to a new cost before you even know what that cost is?! I was involved in a car accident three months ago with someone who hit me from behind. I immediately report a claim and long story short, progressive did not try to call the other party insurance until 2-3 weeks after the incident. My assigned agent kept saying that they are not picking up the phone so there's nothing he can do. I called the supervisor and managers and non of them got back to me until a month later. Everyone that I have spoken to seems really lazy about their job and kept passing me to someone else. So basically I just paid monthly for years and when I really needed them, they do not advocate for their clients and abandon me with the damages to my car that I have to deal with on my own even though it wasn't my fault. I was in the desert stranded and needed a jump. I called progressive road side assistance which never came. They wasted four hours and gave me excuses and then blamed it on the tow company. No one showed up and as a woman stranded on the road it pissed me off. I ended up calling another company who came in 15 minutes to give me a jump. Now I'm told that I have to write letters and plead my case and I might get reimbursed. I've had friends who had accidents and never got reimbursed. Progressive makes it impossible and that is why their rates are lower....you get what you pay for. read more

These idiots will not give out a quote without having your SSN. So don't waste your time going thru the tedious qiuestions if you aren't willing to give some call center guy your SSN. I can't comment about the service they give to their customers but you should hope you are never involved in an accident with someone with Progressive Insurance. I was stopped at a traffic light when a BMW insured by Progressive plowed into the rear end of my car. The car was not drive-able so it was taken to a body shop where it has been parked for over 2 weeks. It is impossible to contact the claims representative. They NEVER call you back. I finally heard that they have accepted 100% fault but cant get repairs going as the body shop and I can't get in touch with the claims agent to go over the details. Years ago my car was totaled by a texting driver and was injured. The other insurance company accepted fault within days and processed my claim quickly . Recently, I contacted Progressive by phone (800-776-4737) to receive a quote for auto, motorcycle, RV and home owners insurance. I was told by the person who answered the phone, that he would be able to assist me with the auto and RV quote but, I would need to speak to someone else for the home owner quote. After approximately 30 minutes I received the quote for auto and RV. I was then transferred to someone else for the home owner quote. This person had no knowledge of my previous conversation regarding my auto and RV quotes. Again I answered all pertinent questions, with my personal information which took approximately another 30 minutes. Prior to receiving my quote, I was told that I needed to provide my Social Security number prior to receiving my quote. I explained that I was not comfortable providing that until I was sure I was going with Progressive. Your representative told me he was unable to provide me a quote without my Social Security number. So after spending almost 60 minutes on the phone I was unable to receive a quote. I have received four other quotes from other insurance companies without providing them with my Social Security number. I don't know if this is Progressive's policy or not but, I find it highly unusual that they require a SSN to receive a quote when no other company even asked for it.
