My mom has been renting from Avis Budget for years now and has never experienced any problems until last month. She received a notice in the mail saying she had to pay for a broken windshield. She rented the car back in December and didn't receive that notice until a MONTH later. Which I find odd but she received the car in Chula Vista and the man acknowledged that the windshield was already cracked along with some bumps and he assured my mom that this was already in the system and acknowledged by Avis. When she returned the car to THIS location the man there also said it was good to go so where did it go wrong? My mom is currently speaking to a customer rep and saying that they are launching an investigation but they still charged the $569 from her account. I would steer clear from here because my mom trusted them and now they're asking her for proof when they have the documentation that proves she wasn't the one who cracked the windshield. Does Avis have employees committing fraud and changing the documents when people leave? Aside from that, the car was in disgusting shape and reeked of cigarettes. How do I give 0 stars? In short, my Apple ear pods were turned in to the front desk at Avis mistakingly by my father-in-law. They accepted the air pods and I tracked them to their location. Easy enough. A formal report was filed per their process on 04/16 and since that time, not one person has contacted me. My father-in-law went into the facility to get the air pods and they claimed not to have them on site. I guess they forgot how tracking devices work. Not only are they at the facility, but I can also see they opened them up to use them before I locked the device. Now, while you may expect the individual branches to be sketchy, you would expect Corporate has a policy for dealing with formal complaints. I guess that travels up the food chain at this company as well. So, why choose Avis when there are 10 other options? In the event there is any issue, you can count on no support from this company. Bad customer service!!! I rented a vehicle from Avis/budget at the olive location. I didn't realize until I Got home, There was fast food bags and trash everywhere. I had to clean and sanitize the inside of the rental myself. Another issue I had, I didn't think to check the Tires because you think they rent out safe cars... wrong!! My tires were so bald!!! By the grace of god I made it safe to my destination. I called to complain to Rafael Sosa, the guy who checked out the car. He basically was beyond rude and didnt even bother to listen about my complaint or attempt to give me the correct phone number to address my issue. He told me that it's not his problem and he didn't care. On top of the bad quality of rentals they have terrible service !!! You're better off going to the airport. ​ I have been to Avis in Studio City a few times and I've always been very happy with Tony the one that works there he's the only one I seen there and he works his tail off I mean the sky is always busy he's cleaning out the cars when people bring them back or he's behind the desk you know on the computer he's always doing something and he's always still very friendly and that is very important to me because I had surgery lately couple surgeries actually and I've had a really hard time and I got a new vehicle now I got an SUV brand new but before I got that I was stuck and didn't know what to do and I went to the right place because from the minute I walked in there Tony had a smile on his face and did everything he could to make me feel comfortable and to help me . I know that if that was my company I would definitely want Tony running it and I'm not just saying that but he is always on his toes always busy doing something and he's there by himself and he just gets everything done and still manages to have a smile on his face and to be very friendly and personable to everybody who comes in there and I seen that . He can't take away the fact that I had a couple surgeries and I've been in pain and Tony is the one that runs the place I've never seen anybody else there but him but he is just as friendly and personable to other customers as he was to me and I think that's wonderful that he seems to take his job very seriously and that's really really important . There are so many Rent-A-Car places around but if you want somebody who's personable and somebody who's polite along with a great selection of the cars that's the place to go Avis it's on Ventura Boulevard and Studio City and his name is Tony and he'll take care of you . I can't stay enough about this guy he's the nicest kindest person and you know sometimes when you get into a situation you know it's not the easiest thing but it makes all the difference in the world to have somebody there with a smile on his face eager to help you and I will always go there if I know anybody who needs to rent a car or if sometime down the line maybe I will again but I'll never go anywhere else. I rented a car from this location, prepaid for it and when I arrived they told me that they could not give me the car. The person behind the desk said that he called me that morning, but I never received a call. Then he told me that he couldn't refund my money, and that I would have to contact a 1-800 number. I rented a car last minute and when I showed up all they had left was a big van/empty lot (it is easter weekend) This happens alot in most rental places where I reserve and show up but they're out of cars (enterprise made me wait 2 hours once & it wasn't a holiday) most of the time I'm waiting hours and end up with a crappy car... the guys asked me to wait a few minutes and 10 mins later they showed up with a convertible Mustang! I would never rent from this location again. I reserved a midsize SUV...they said it was available, so I reserved online and showed up at the agreed time to pick it up. The only one they had available when I got here was one that a lady had JUST arrived to turn in. They said they'd "clean it", but I don't even think they took 5 minutes to do so. The outside still had bird crap on the hood and the inside smelled like someone tried to cover up a puke smell with perfume....disgusting! In fact, it was so disgusting, I ended up turning it back in within 2 hours. I just could not stomach driving around with that stench. I had a situation where my car was hit and my insurance company did not want to pay for a car rental for me. I had to work and could not afford the daily rate Jose the manager there helped me out and he not only gave me a excellent daily rate he helped me secure the rental for a week. Jose was wonderful. We're in kinda limbo here. Contacted the sales department to test drive a Hyundai Santa Fe. It was set for Saturday at 11am in Burbank. We had to secure a babysitter for that time (which isn't always easy and costs money). The car was not there and when we heard back from the sales person, Adam, we were told it was still at LAX getting cleaned. We were understanding and they rescheduled us for Sunday (the following day). Here's Sunday and Adam gives us a call and says the plates are missing so we can't see the car today. Don't get me wrong he was very apologetic and said he would work on it. It's almost the end of the day and no word yet. So I guess time will tell if they get a better review or worse. While the actual rental and transaction here went smoothly enough, it was afterward that I had my bad experience. A week or two after having returned the rental and 'closed-out' my transaction, I received a letter from Avis collections that my check was NSF (??!!). I paid for this by cash. So after literally weeks of phone calls and talking to that office (somewhere on the Eastern seaboard), it is finally "discovered" that the check in question was from a type of Family Trust for someone else and had nothing to do with my rental. This is after going back and forth and Avis collections repeatedly hounding me for payment. All I asked for was a confirmation that I had no debt with them and had paid in full. Neither the collections office NOR THIS BURBANK BRANCH were willing to do that, each passing the buck, saying, 'We can't do that; that's the other office's responsibility.' At this point I realized there is a greater chance of the sun rising in the west than getting an apology or acknowledgment from Avis. As the saying goes, 'If we don't take care of the customer, someone else will.' In that sense, I know the staff at Enterprise can be thankful for Avis' lack of professionalism and courtesy. read more

Terrible experience. Was in LA for a day with my family to do some local sightseeing. Rented a car from this place and the car broke down within 10 minutes. The ignition button didn't work as the system couldn't identify a key inside the car. Called this place but they offered no help. Provided me contact for a tow service which took about 2 hours to pick up the car. I have still not been refunded for the service. Called them to cancel the transaction and refund me and they directed me to customer service. The customer service is saying that I will have to wait until the car is sent back to the original location. I was expecting the refund to be initiated once I reported the problem and the tow truck picked it up. Have been on calls with their customer service for an hour now and they still have no clue about how I would get a refund even after so many days. Terrible Terrible customer service. read more

After an accident I called Avis to reserve a rental. I made it clear I only wanted a daily rate - no weekly - as I was unsure how long/short it would be until my car was repaired and insurance was only covering a max of 40 bucks a day. The Avis rep assured me he understood my parameters and gives me a daily rate below $35. Sweet! Everything was smooth at pick up, and as luck had it, my car was repaired in just two days. But when I dropped off at Avis again, the guy behind the counter said it was $50 daily! The reservations guy had not told me the real rate, but had instead given me a daily rate based on a weekly rental - even after I'd made it incredibly clear anything over $40 was out of my budget. At first the guy behind the counter said he couldn't do anything but I was clearly frustrated - anyone could see it made no sense that I would rent a vehicle on a weekly rate or for over my daily budget. He said he couldn't do anything. I left ready to read Avis the riot act and send a tweet storm as soon as I got to my place, but within two minutes I got a call back from the gentleman at Avis saying he'd cAlled and had them lower the rate on my behalf. Thank you for the excellent service in the end! That made the difference for me... he cooked have left it at "Sionara" but knew it wasn't right and set things straight on his own. For that reason I would highly recommend this Avis location (just be sure to double re-confirm Avis' quotes thoroughly on the phone and in the fine print afterward!). Used this Avis branch for the first time this past weekend. I searched for the best deal through priceline, and Avis was at the top of the list. We reserved a subcompact/economy but were upgraded one level for free and ended up with a brand new, fuel-efficient Corolla. Everyone we dealt with at the office was very friendly and professional. This is a very small lot, so there's not a huge offering of vehicles. The hours are a bit inconvenient, too (8 am to 6 pm on most days). But I just liked the cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere of the place and the "realness" of the employees. I can't stand a lot of those guys with the salesman demeanor who work at the rental car lots at the airport. I was pretty happy with this place, except for the hours. read more

Someone I knew had a bad experience with Avis in NYC, and I'm big on customer service, so I didn't patronize with them for almost 10 years. After an amazing experience with the Burbank Airport location (rented out of the blue with no reservations and had a great agent), I figured I'd try this one since they had the car I wanted. I mean, they ARE close to each other, maybe I would have another good experience. The place is small. Hard to find street parking if someone is dropping you off. The selection is also small, but they fit my needs for the few days I needed it. The desk person was very nice and personable. He was thorough with the car check and was really nice about everything. I had a fairly easy time with the original rental (at another location), but while my rented car was parked, it was vandalized and covered in the glass from broken windows. When I called for assistance with this problem, I got mostly no responses (it was extremely hard to get in contact with a human who could offer Avis customer assistance help; it took me hours) and when I did get ahold of a representative, different people I spoke to on the phone told me totally different things, were rude, offered no apology and continued suggesting that I drive the car back because "that would be easier". Yes, while covered in glass -- why do you think I"m calling? I couldn't believe the lack of apology and the extent to which I was condescended to on the phone and how difficult it was to get in contact with Avis for a minor emergency. Even Roadside Assistance was incredibly difficult to contact and, once picked up, three different representatives told me different things. The difficulty of arranging a solution to an already stressful problem with Avis was hellish, and I will never rent from them again. It's disappointing after a previous positive experience at a different rental location, but I would never frequent a place where an office manager treated me that way on the phone again. If you are concerned that you might encounter car trouble or accident (I had purchased Avis insurance, it was the communication and lack of help that was absolutely horrible), I'd advise you to pick another company that will treat people with respect (no current recommendations, though I have had a positive experience with Sixt in the past). read more

This place does not even worth a star! They keep pushing for upgrades and love to sell the unnecessary things when you don't even need it. The customer service SUCKS! It's basically no service! The sales person was super nice to me at the beginning but when he realized that his up sale and upgrades won't work with me, he stopped smiling. He was so rude towards the end. I rented the car at 10 p.m and returned it at 10:50 p.m the next day. They charged 38 dollars for full day plus 28 dollars for being one hour late! It was not even an hour! Beware of that when you are renting a car from them! I rented a car from enterprise for two days, their price for 2 days was $58 and I returned the car half a day late! They did NOT charge me for the 3rd day! I paid 58 dollars for 2 and a half day with an amazing customer service! This is an independently owned Avis Rental Car location. Hence they can offer lower prices compared to other Avis offices. I am only giving them a 2nd star for their cheap rate for renting a van. My husband and I wanted to rent a van for our wedding to transport our guests to the reception, but with keeping costs low. This Avis had the best price so I went with them w/o checking any of the reviews. I didn't realize it would be a problem that we showed up 15 min after our scheduled time. We showed up in the POURING rain only to find a sign misspelled sign reading "Be back in 15 miutes". Other customers had showed up as well, all of us either waiting in our cars or in the rain. Apparently, the 3 workers (including the manager/owner) had to leave to retrieve the cars needed for that day. WHO LEAVES THE OFFICE DURING OPEN HOURS????? They eventually showed up 15 "miutes" later, as promised with just a verbal apology for all of us. I suppose that is the "price you pay" for going with paying a lesser rate. I had to calm myself down and refrain from unleashing bridezilla. They are lucky we needed to get back as soon as possible, so no time for scolding their unprofessionalism. I ran into "the angry one" -- a guy named ALEX. We needed to rent a car for at least a week, maybe longer and my wife is kinda "addicted' to Bluetooth. She has already had one hand held cell phone ticket awhile back so I KNEW we needed a Bluteooth equipped car. I talked to a very nice female on the phone and explained I needed a bluetooth equipped vehicle and asked her if she could help set it up -- since I don't call while driving and just don't know how to sync up a phone. She said she would help me set it up and explained that I would have to spend more for a premium, or larger car -- which i was fine with. So i show up hours later and a frowning guy "ALEX" asks me in a kind of "You customers are the bane of my existence" way -- "What do you need?". Not "welcome to Avis sir - how can i help?" -- But a frowned almost growled "What do YOU need?". I explained I was told by the female who answered the phone that she'd help me sync up my wife's Bluetooth phone and he snapped... "WHO told you THAT? What was her name? When did you call?" Yikes -- i thought I was on the stand being grilled by an angry lawyer... I explained the time i called and I didn't get the young ladies' name. He said "We don't do that here ". i explained that was the ONLY reason I rented a Bluetooth car -- because I was told in no uncertain terms I would get help setting up her phone in the car. He said "I don't know how to do that". Bad experience folks...very bad. Why people in the service business hire 'the angry ones' to deal with the public is beyond me. Took my car to Chevy up the street and walked to another rental car place up the street with my baby and boyfriend. They were sold out of standard size cars and we quickly realized we were stranded and live 25+ miles away. Found Avis online and explained our needs. The rep sent his co-worker to pick us up 20 min later and we had a vehicle to get home. The price was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and when we returned with our car to drop off the rental, they even washed our personal car for us! My experience with this Avis was really great. I had reserved the car through AAA, and I input a coupon code for a free upgrade. When I went to pick up the car, the code didn't show up on the Avis system, but they gave me the upgrade anyway. Arrived Burbank airport. Reserved here to avoid $37/day airport fees. When I arrived to pick up my Buick rez they didn't have it and instead offered a micro Hyundai or smallest Infiniti SUV - both dirty - the only two cars on the lot. It would have been laughable had I not had to demand a reduced rate. Young man at the counter tried to give me their national reservation number to resolve the issue. Sure. When I returned the SUV the next morning they weren't open and don't have any way to drop a car AH. Airport return was a run-around with them sending me to two closed kiosks in the garage. Counter rep didn't give a $h1t about the problems. Never again. read more
