I don't need the car tomorrow, I need it tonight, to drive home from a 13 hour travel day Another sign says go to third floor kiosk.........well there might be some hope......but no, they're gone as well. Locked up tighter than Fort Knox How do you book a car pick up at 9:00 pm and No One mentions from the rental firm that they close at 9:00. A Verbal or even a computer code line, that doesn't allow after hours rentals......is so simple to add. We finally Rented from Enterprise........cause they were there, as well as National, Avis, Budget, and a few more. Nice, efficient, and well, actually there! Thank you Enterprise! I have had bad experiences with Fox and was filled with trepidation when I approached the counter. Thankfully, it ended up being a great experience. Ernesto was very friebdly, helpful and professional. The gentleman who helped me to get my car was super nice as well. The car itself was just OK. It had scratches and little dings. They did a walk through as part of the process of checking out the car and noted it in a sheet that I had to review before I took the car. None of the other car rentals do that, that was kinda weird. read more

The rental office is housed in a building along with other rental car agencies that is about an 5-10 minute walk from the baggage claim. I generally like using Fox Rent a Car if need a rental car during my travels because they generally have the best prices. I expect them to have no frills and no thrills, but this location is lacking with service. Not sure if they are short handed due to the holidays, but when I showed up to pick up my rental car just after 9am (they open at 6am), there was no one at the desk. There was no sign that stated how to get a hold of anyone. I waited around for 5+ minutes, then proceeded to look up a phone number I could call for the office. 10+ minutes goes by and I was just about to dial a phone number that I finally found for Fox Rent A Car when an employee walks in with a bag of food and a couple drinks. I was greeted and she was apologetic that I had been waiting for 10-15 minutes with no help. She seemed new and had some difficulty completing the paperwork for my rental. She had to call/text her manager multiple times and eventually the manager came over from somewhere to help. I was the only customer at the time, but as I was completing my paperwork, there were a couple more customers, so hopefully they had better experience. My rental was already pre-paid including $150 extra for deposit, but for some reason they had to pre-auth another $1 which seems strange to me. I will be returning this car at the Ontario Airport location, so hopefully I will have a better experience there. read more

RUN, DON'T WALK AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. (I rent 20-30 cars a year so have some reference to speak from. Will never rent from FOX again). My experience the last 24 hours: An attempt to do the simplest of things - alter a reservation resulted in the following: 1. Telephone agents (in India or Bangladesh) were wonderfully friendly and amiable and completely dis-empowered to do anything other than answer the call (after 10 minutes of navigating AI phone trees). They communicated that they could do nothing since booked through Travelocity and encouraged me to call TC. 2. Called Travelocity. After 15 minutes of navigating an AI phone tree the agent informed me that I had to call FOX (which had just been done). 3. Received emails from both Travelocity and Fox Rent A Car with links to 'alter" reservation as needed. Both links led to endless loops resulting same phone numbers already called. 4. At rental counter, the very rude agent informed me that they did not have the power to modify the reservation, though I was standing at the counter. They communicated my only option to alter was to CANCEL the car I was waiting to pick up and try to re-book myself - that moment. She also informed me that she couldn't do it herself, even though she is an employee of Fox, sitting at the computer terminal with all details in front of her. Hmmmmmm. 5. Upon picking up the car (full size sedan) it turns out to be a Nissan Altima - not quite a 'full size' and in fact a sorry facsimile for what a full size ought to be, even according to the simplest of references such as Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full-size_car. 6. Upon inquiring if there were any OTHER full size sedans available the agent said I'd have to not only go back down to the rental counter and wait in line for the rude agent, but also that I'd have to pay extra for any one of the Toyota Camrys which were sitting right in front of us, and not rented. This despite my rental reservation clearly stating that for given price I'd receive "Toyota Camry or similar" (see attached). 7. Net result - Total ineptitude. Dishonest marketing and reservation. Rude customer service. Will NEVER go near Fox again, nor Travelocity as they've eaten up 2 hours of my time with inferior service and lack of meeting contractual obligations. This is about the Burbank Airport station. It is basically the second time I rented from Fox. I was always scared since the reviews have been so bad. Last time I booked a car with interrent a German car renting company I am using demo time to time when the rates are good. Guess what they partnered with fox and I had to deal with them (in Burbank) and it was a great experience. so this time when it was time to book an LA car from the beginning I said if fox is fair priced I can go with them. And I did. Again I am a happy driver. Getting the car was only as annoying as with all the others (try to trick you with the gas, try to upsell, try to sell an insurance etc) but it was quick and I got a car that had 9000 miles on the odometer and was looking like new from the inside. So I will always come back the team was nice Both times the car have been great so no complaints at all! Again this can be a station related thing but thumbs up for Burbank airport fox! read more

We noticed the car was only 3/4 full as we were leaving, couldn't open the rental agreement to see what was listed there and there was no attendant when we left. We returned the car with a full tank and were charged for 2 gallons. When I called they said if I didn't take a picture when we pulled out there is no proof because the rental agreement (which we couldn't see) said full. We also were charged for Damage waiver and roadside assistance - neither of which we requested. Will definitely NOT rent from them again. read more

This rating is for service at the location in the Phoenix, AZ airport. The vehicle was fine. The rental agent rushed our rental process and didn't listen to our requests on insurance coverage. We had previously rented from Fox in San Antonio and had a good experience. We noted to the Phoenix rental agent that we wanted the same rental agreement (daily rate, insurance, extra driver) as we had in San Antonio, assuming it was in our profile. He assured us that we would have the same. Only after we arrived at our destination did we realize that he had charged us way more than our previous agreement. Comparing the two contracts (same type of car, mind you), we were charged $90/day in San Antonio and $220/day in Phoenix. Clearly our requests were not honored and we were way-overcharged. When we called customer service, we were told to go back to the airport counter to speak to the manager who may or may not be able to adjust the contract. We cut short our trip to make sure we could catch our flight in time and still speak to the Phoenix manager. The line was too long and we decided to air our grievances with the corporate office and not risk missing our flight. When we got home, we emailed Fox customer service and were told they couldn't do anything. It is what it is. We won't rent from Fox again. read more

I guess this company only allows positive reviews--because the moment you leave an honest one, they retaliate. On Friday, I shared my genuine experience with them. By Saturday morning, I received an unsolicited email from the manager, Josh, attempting to justify both his and Lisa's behavior. He even tried to "coach" me on how to read their guidelines, which was completely uncalled for. The fact that Josh went out of his way to pull up my personal information and contact me directly over a review is intrusive and feels like harassment. If he and Lisa truly cared about customer service or resolving issues, they would have addressed the situation appropriately when I was in the store--not after being publicly reviewed. If I can give this place a negative review I would! First of all I was told there was only 3 different types of insurance "packages" even tho I only wanted insurance to cover any car damages. The lady up front told me they don't do that and it's only by package so I picked standard just because that's the only one that has the "any damages to the car". Turns out on their website and the paper they gave I could have picked what I wanted. So I feel scammed second I called in advance if I can drop the car off a little late asked if there was any late fee was informed it was going to be $11 every hour it's late. Cool no problem my drop off was at 5pm I dropped off the car at 6pm, there was a lady there who just told me to leave the keys in the car and that my deposit will be back to me within a few hours or a few business days. A few hours later minutes before they close they sent an email saying I wouldn't get my deposit and I was charged for 6 days instead of 5 and I wouldn't be receiving my deposit and I still owed $22 cause I was 2 hours late. They processed the car at THEIR convenience and charged ME for that extra hour the car was sitting there. I tried to call back as soon as I finished reading my email just to find out they close at 8. Also I prepurchased for the 5 days I was gonna have the car which was $269, in total I ended up paying close to $800. That's ridiculous I have never had anything like this happen to me before I feel scammed and robbed for any cent they can take out of me. Save your money don't come here. read more

This was the last time I will ever rent from Fox. I had to extend my trip by a couple of days so I talked to a representative on the chat site and they said it would be about an additional $90 if I extended the rental vs going back to the airport for a new rental so I opted to return my rental and pick up the new car (same car class) instead to save around $90. The morning of the switch I called Fox and asked if it would be ok to do the car exchange early (my rental time was 8 pm it was about 1:30) they told me yes no problem since I was getting the same type of car. So I go to the airport to exchange my car and told the checkout person I would be right back I have another rental! She said ok sounds good you can even leave your stuff in the car! She checked me out and was attempting to be helpful. When I went to pickup the car the representative said he can't approve the early pickup without charging an additional $90...this was in total contradiction to what I was told on the phone. Then his manager came out and said the same thing. So I said fine I'll just keep my original car until 8 and come back (since I've already paid for it) and they said no because it's already checked out and they can't check it in again...the girl upstairs shouldn't have checked you out. So they're contradicting your phone reps, then trying to throw the checkout person upstairs under the bus, then saying I'm out of luck until 8 pm despite having 2 car reservations for the same car. One of which I had paid for and was still within my time. The "manager" just kept saying she can't choose a button that isn't blue on her screen. She was incredibly rude and didn't want to even attempt to try to help and problem solve. The obvious solution would've been to make a note in the system of the situation and do the car exchange at 8 pm but she was acting like she can't do anything at all and her behavior and attitude were awful. We ended up renting from another company and we won't be renting from Fox again. I never got to pick up my new reservation and I was cheated out of the remaining time on my original rental because of the lack of communication and systems of this company. To the company credit the billing department issued me a refund but the service counter at the airport was extremely rude! No need to wonder why they have such a low rating. I had a great experience renting through Fox at the Burbank airport. It costs an extra $50/day on top of the original rate to extend, so I brought the vehicle back in and made a new rental instead to save the fee and they allowed me to keep the same car. When I had to extend the rental again on a busy weekend, however, there were no vehicles available and I had to take the +$50/day extension. It was still the most affordable option at the airport. I have no complaints about the 2024 Nissan Sentra they rented to me. It was in good condition and I drove it for 3 weeks without any problems. Lisa helped me at the front desk all three times. She was a pleasure to work with and accommodated my request so I could keep the same vehicle when I had to renew. Alma was working in the pickup/drop off area. She marked the vehicle condition accurately and got me on the road quickly. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely rent from them again. read more

I man named James (or Josh, he wasnt clear), who claimed to be the manager, arbitrarily cancelled our reservation after they offered us the wrong car, which was completely dirty. I know what your thinking, Fox is a grade below Hertz and you have to lower expectations; there are no expectations low enough for this place. To have a (Manager!?!) behave this way, is honestly crazy. Luckily I booked on trip.com and they were a party to how crazy this manager was acting and are working with me. But honestly stay away, saving 15% on your car to have this kind of rude, uncaring service aint worth it. With so many bad reviews and experiences, how is Fox still in business. I reserved an SUV because I was coming into LA to help my elderly, blind mother for a week with doctors' visits, labs, etc. Upon arrival I found a long line of mostly irate customers in line. When my turn finally came, I was told that all the SUV had been rented out and the only cars left are some large gas guzzlers or a Toyota Corolla. I reluctantly took the Corolla and drove off. As I was exiting the freeway many miles away, I noticed that the brakes were grinding, metal to metal. Later in the day I called them and they assured me that they could not tell me which car or if any would be available if I returned the defective one I had. So for a week, I had to use a car with dubious brakes. When I returned the car at the end of my visit, I was told that since I reserved through a "3rd party" there was nothing they could do. I needed to call Fox customer service number and they will a to a sedan. When I called, they agin mentioned the "3rd party" and refused to re-imburse me the difference. Fox is not a legitimate business and should be investigated. (To Fox: Please don't waste everyone's time responding to this review, use that time to train your employees and review your shady business tactics.) read more

Was skeptical yet continued listening. Rep then became aggressive when informed that payment would have to be made before customer left the premises once repair was made. I rented a car that I took on a trip to mammoth here. Mid trip I got a flat. I took the car to the nearest tire shop and if you've traveled to mammoth you know there aren't many. I had to buy a brand new tire for the car which I thought was fine since we needed to make the drop off time for the car. The tire business gave me a receipt and when I returned the car fox didn't even want to look at the receipt. They said they couldn't cover it. I'd never rent from them again. read more

WORST car rental company I have ever dealt with! My car was not ready upon arrival and they gave me a dirty, SMELLY car. My family was coughing and gagging while I was driving. They would not change my car on-site unless I paid more which is a scam since you are required to provide a clean car for rental. I called corporate multiple times and the branch manager refuses to escalate this to the district manager like she promised she would do. Everyone who works at the Burbank location lies and does not care about customer service. Even if your car rental is free here do not use them. It will just ruin your vacation! I'm updating my review from 4 to 5 star! I've rented from Fox car rental and this is my 4th rental with them. I don't know about all the other reviews but I'm always extremely pleased (thankfully) with the reps I get when I retrieve the car being rented. They're always so accommodating and pleasant to work with. I had a great experience this last time with Mr. Gerson when getting and returning the vehicle. I just hope next time I rent either he or Eva (not sure if she's still there) are the ones helping because they have great customer service etiquette! I wish I could rate higher. The rental and return went smoothly enough. However, I purchased insurance through them for the two days I rented the vehicle in addition the insurance I purchased through Expedia. I got a small chip on the windshield from the highway, which I thought would be covered by the insurance or at least be a reasonable fix. When I returned the car, the attendant notified me that a chip of that size would only cost me $10. They proceeded to replace the whole windshield and billed me $485 dollar (right under their $500 deductible) instead of just fixing the chip, which would run around $100-200. Opportunistic business practice to pass on cost to a customer. I do not recommend ever booking with them as this is a indication of how they approach customer service and relations. I do recommend the third-party insurance Expedia provides as they did cover the cost. Try another rental company - there are a lot better options. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM FOX RENT-A-CAR!! They do not properly maintain their vehicles in between renting them to customers. I signed a contract to rent a car for 17 days that was "nonrefundable". I didn't realize until driving the car for a couple days at the Car was actually unsanitary. There was, what looked like, bodily fluids on the dashboard from someone possibly sneezing or something and there was dirt on the ground and seats. There was also yellow scuff marks on the back bumper from someone possibly hitting a yellow pole. Even though they did not uphold the basic standard of renting sanitary vehicles to their customers, they sure as hell upheld their nonrefundable policy with me!!! Even though I only use the car for three days they charged me for all 17!!! They offered to put me in another car, but why the hell would I want to use another car from a company that doesn't sanitize their cars? Like ew. Never again. My wife and I just returned from a trip to Denver. Originally, I reserved a car from one of the 'big' names. We arrived at the rental pickup in the evening (all of the rental companies are off airport in Denver and they all have their own shuttles) and there was a very long line, with only 3 agents working. We are an elderly couple and, after a long flight, we were pretty tired at this point, so we decided to go to our hotel and rent the car next morning. As all of the rental companies were off airport, I figured I should try and save myself some money, so checked a number of other companies, including Fox. Well, next day, we could not have had a better experience! We waited less than 5 minutes for their bus and the driver could not have been more helpful. When we arrived, there were 3 other customers in line, with 4 agents working. We waited only a few minutes. The car they gave me was a 2024 midsize VW SUV, in excellent condition. The agent took her time to explain everything to me and off we went. When we returned the car, the check-in agent (Estelle) was absolutely wonderful. She greeted us with a big smile and could not have been more helpful or pleasant. . The bus was waiting to take us back to the airport and the driver (Hamerdook - sorry about spelling) sprung into action and grabbed our heavy bags, so we didn't have to lift them. But the best part of the whole experience was..... the rental cost was just under a half of what the 'big' car rental company was going to charge me! A very big saving, indeed! This was my first time renting from Fox and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, in future. With so many negative reviews (when most people only leave reviews when they are not happy) I felt that a 5 star review was warranted here. Great job everyone at Fox in Denver. THE WORST! it will say budget or save or special , don't believe it. we get there thinking we had a good rate...WRONG! hidden fees add at least a couple of hundred dollars to your car rental. THEN after getting discouraged about the rates we went back to pick up the car and had to wait over an HOUR because they didnt have enough staff to get your car ready. Fox rent a car at the airport n Los Angeles was incredibly disappointing. I reserved in advance and still had to wait 1.5 hours after my reservation time. They blamed it on customers not returning their cars in time and offered me a larger vehicle if I were willing to pay more at the time of my reservation (not any kind of deal). When they finally gave me a car, the very next day the tire was low on air. When taking it for air, a mechanic showed me there was a bulge in the tire, said it was dangerous to drive at all, and definitely not on the highway. I called Fox Rent a Car, and they offered to charge me to have their emergency roadside put the spare tire on the car (not even a safe/real tire so I could use the highway to get to my conference). Fox should have sent a safe-driving car to be swapped out for the unsafe one they rented to me, but instead they required me to take 3 hours out of my one day off (after driving off-highway on an unsafe tire for a week) to go back to the rental place for a replacement vehicle. read more

Be aware!!! I had reserved a Luxury vehicle, to be picked up from the airport in Tampa, Florida. They didn't have anything available when I arrived, and I was given a small SUV. The car was not clean, and had a very bad odor. The only other cars were all too small. When I returned the car, I was told everything looks good, and I was not given any documents. They only send email confirmations. Beware! The following day, I received my final bill. They had charged me for 9.5 gallons of gas, on a vehicle that has a 23 gallon gas tank. I had completely filled the gas tank less than 1 mile from the airport return center just before returning the car. Customer service would not correct this charge, and made it very difficult to speak with anyone who was willing to assist. I was told "this is our policy". It seems to me that FOX makes it a habit of cheating their customers. I know for a fact they cheated me. read more
