After passing this place many times (usually when I wasn't hungry) and reading all the glowing…read morereviews I finally got the chance to try this place. The interior is very nice and as I had arrived just after noon I had my choice of tables. I sat by the window for a nice view out onto the street. While I was waiting for my meal I was served a bowl of warm flatbreads (apparently made in-house) and a little bowl of olives. The main course I opted for was adana kofte served with rice and salad. The lamb was cooked on skewers which are then removed before serving leaving two perfect pooh-shaped sausages on the plate. And very tasty it was too despite the slightly off-putting appearance. The salad was very nice and a generous portion too. I just about managed to finish my meal (washed down with a glass of tango) despite the flatbreads almost having filled me up. The bill arrived along with a small, but greatly appreciated, cube of turkish delight. Service and ambiance was excellent, I look forward to returning and trying something a little less pooh-shaped.

Turkish food, mainly kebabs. A great array of starters too. We went for the Special Mixed Grill for two. All meals come with complimentary bread and olives. Service is friendly enough and the decor of the place is great. Great value, quality food. A great place for lunch or dinner

Tucked away on Hove Street, Just up from the Ginger Pig, it's not the kind of place that is going to attract a lot of walk-by trade, it's going to have to survive on reputation and word of mouth alone. The restaurant itself looks a little tacky from the outside, but the inside is like Aladdin's cave - heavy wooden beams, lanterns lighting the restaurant and exotic eastern music all make for gorgeous surroundings. The wait staff are all really friendly and helpful. I was especially pleased to be sat next to the radiator on a cold Friday evening. The place was pretty busy which is a good sign, I hope they can keep it up. The Groupon deal was a selection of meze - six hot and six cold. Some of my favourite dishes included the lamb cop, borek, saksuka and humus. The cold meze were served in little pastry dishes - you can't beat edible tableware. There was plenty of food for the two of us and we were completely stuffed by the end. Bread was served as an accompaniment, however the initial portion was quite small. We requested extra and what arrived was a much superior portion, both in size and quality. I was convinced that they would add this to the bill and was very pleasantly surprised to find it had been emitted. To finish we had a Turkish tea and coffee and a Turkish delight which were also included in the deal. The Turkish red wine we had to accompany the meal was interesting and very drinkable, and also reasonably priced. This is a great little find and I really hope that they manage to survive in their out-of-the-way location. I will definitely be back for more meze and also to try some main meals from the full menu. A great first impression.

I'm not a fan of take out food, so it would be harsh for me to judge anywhere like this on my personal reaction, but those around me were in love with the place. It wasn't even that craving that you only get after substantial amounts of alcohol either, as the lot of us had only had a few sups at the not too far away Sir Charles Napier. Being a little bigger than most off the beaten track take out stores, there was plenty of space to accommodate us and their large kitchen, and all the food was whipped up at a decent pace, and looked a damned sight fresher than standard... It was a little more expensive than I was expecting when I saw the charge come up on the card machine, but I think that's more my friends expensive taste than anything.

Well either way, my reaction was not quite that extreme. On a semi-drunken walk home recently, my friends and I decided to stop in here for sustenance before embarking upon the long old walk up the hill. I'm always a bit scared of takeaways that serve kebabs, pizzas, hamburgers and more...how can they possibly all be made to edible, (never mind top notch), standard?! Maybe I don't have enough faith in the culinary expertise of Brighton's teenage takeaway employees? Anyway, the point is, I was happily surprised by my kebab. True, I am not exactly a kebab veteran and I wasn't exactly 100% sober, but I thought it was pretty damn tasty! Fresh salad, tender meat and a nice warm pitta with chilies and some special sauce. Pretty good. I left wondering whether it was possible that kebabs hav been getting an unnecessarily bad rap....but that may have been the cider talking!
