Really great spot for healthier salads with copious options. I stopped in for lunch one day, and got their 1 main + 3 salads (£11.50 for eat in, £10.50 for take away). They had about 10 salads to choose from, most of which were vegan, and a bunch of mains, two of which were vegan. For the main, I got a decadent butter bean dish that was wonderfully flavoured, albeit quite oily. The salads were all quite intensely flavoured too, with a broccoli salad that had a nicely horseradish-dominant dressing, a tomato and bell pepper salad that was nicely dressed, and roasted sweet potatoes. Very filling and good value. I was really happy with the food. I capped off the meal with an American (£2.40), which was definitely above average for UK -- seems like the place is run by Italians, so that might be it. Super friendly and helpful staff who kindly pointed out everything that was vegan. All in all, highly recommended spot near the centre and beach. read more

Random stop for lunch today as I was wandering through the streets of Brighton fresh off an international flight.. I walked past and happened to notice the sign out the front advertising an all you can eat lunch for £6.95 per person. If that wasn't enough of an arm twister, the food on display in the window looked AMAZING! Today's hot menu offerings were vegetable soup, beef goulash, vege moussaka and Caribbean chicken drumsticks with mash or rice. And then a gorgeous array of 7 fresh salads to compliment your meal. Hallejuhuh PRAISE this place. My god. Honestly, if you don't know.. GET TO KNOW. I've already confessed my love for buffet food. All you can eat - it's a phrase that literally excites me. Although, often you can't find a decent all you can eat. It's either somewhere cheap where they've left out, going hard or soggy, full of strays and foreigners trying to look for authentic tastes of England.. A place which is a little more pricy where the food is crap and the people that go there are equally crap aka chavy, the kind that think taking their family to the dogs on a Saturday night is a posh night out. Or, there are places which are very pricey and the food is RANK! Aka.... Days. But this place- it's the heaven of all you can eat. I tell you something as well. I make sure I don't eat anything that day if I know I'm going here. It's £6.50 with a beautiful array of fresh, warm and cold wholesome food. It's organic, full of taste and will literally give pins and needles to your taste buds (in a good way). It's such a great place I honestly can't get enough of it. It's very veggie and vegan friendly. It serves a healthy choice of food and it doesn't make you feel guilty for eating there! Unless your like me and you manage to eat lots of bread...! NEGATIVE .... It's SO busy, all the time. It can be a challenge to get a table. I'd advise for you - if possible. To get a seat upstairs. I stumbled across Foodilic by accident last summer. I was after something hale and hearty to take down to the beach and both Pret and M&S had run out of salad boxes. I was debating going home and making a picnic when I walked past Foodilic and noticed the big bowls of fresh salads and roasted veggies piled up in the window. I looked closer and spotted about half a dozen people queuing up to fill brown cardboard boxes with the salads and knew my stomach had led me here for a reason! I've been back about a dozen times since and am always amazed about the freshness and high quality of the produce. As well as organic couscous and roasted veg salad, there's slices of butternut squash and sweet potato, grilled peppers and fennel and chunks of cheese. The boxes are £4.95 to take away and £5.95 to eat inside. For dinner, add an extra £2 or have one the daily specials like chicken paprika. I'm always too stuffed to have desert but they also have very tasty looking cheesecakes, layer cakes, brownies and flapjacks and a wide range of organic and fairtrade cakes. The restaurant is a bit small but they have some seating upstairs. I really like their veggie dishes and also appreciate their soup and meat options. I wish I could give Foodilic a star or two more, but, there's just something that stops me from going back. I'm going to see if I can figure out what that "something" is. It's a pleasant place to eat on your own or for two. Any more than that, and it's a little too cramped. It's not a particularly comfortable restaurant. Perhaps by design? The old wooden chairs and stacked buffet in the corner mean that you don't really ever want to stay longer than half an hour or so. This is perhaps the biggest let down for me, the buffet is served in the corner of the restaurant by the door. When it's even moderately busy, this means that you're always in someone's way and it's particularly annoying if you are seated by the doorway or by the buffet. It's just not an enjoyable experience. The food, however, is delicious. It's a healthy, welcome alternative to other restaurants in this area. The buffet menu doesn't change much, which is great if you're someone who knows what they like and who doesn't like change. That said, If you're looking for something a little more adventurous, one trip is probably enough and there's really not much to keep you going back. There are usually a couple of different meat dishes (typically beef and chicken) and plenty of vegetarian dishes available. My recommendation: Try everything, it's a buffet! The beef is delicious. The buffet is £6.95. I think this is about 10% too much given what I've said about the environment and also a fairly limited menu. If you're in a rush and are still in search of a healthy lunch, they also offer a takeaway box for £5. I've not been to the Foodilic on Western Road, perhaps if you're looking for a little more comfort and choice, give that branch a try. read more

Foodilic is a delightful little restaurant situated in the heart of Brighton. The premise of it is very simple - it is an all-you-can-eat healthy restaurant. They have lots of lovely, healthy, filling food to eat that is simply delicious. Here you can find dishes that contain heaps of tasty veggies, lentil dishes and potatoes all done in lots of different and inventive ways. You can also have things like shepherd's pie and soup if you are looking for something a bit more hearty. It is very much a very Brighton-esque menu. The restaurant itself is very small which can mean that it is a little cramped when it gets busy (which is most of the time as it is quite popular). It can be a little bit problematic if you sit upstairs as the stairs are only big enough for one person to go up or down at a time, meaning that if you are carrying a plateful of food you may accidentally bump in to someone whilst you go back to your seat. Additionally, upstairs is where most of the seating is and yet the food is downstairs which can be a bit tiresome if you want to go back for more than one plate. One last downside is that they don't accept credit or debit cards which to me is very unusual in the 21st century where we are moving towards a cashless society. Overall, I very much enjoy this restaurant. It is clean, the food is decent and well-priced, and the staff are pleasant. read more

This is the most amazing all you can eat restaurant I've ever been to. Most of those places serve ounces and ounces of crummy food, and you chomp your way through it, thinking "it's not that great, but hey, it's cheap, and I can really stuff myself". Then a place like Foodilic comes along and ruins it, by offering really, really good food in an all you can eat capacity for very little, and the whole thing falls out of shape. How does it make sense? I don't know, but I'm glad that it does, as Foodilic is just amazing. Serving a variety of healthy salady, potatoey dishes, all of which go together beautifully, as well as one or two meat dishes to have with the amazing cous-cous and mushroom salad and all of the other amazing side-dishes, Foodilic is an organic and simple food lover's idea of heaven. Sure, you won't get ounces of meat or sauce for your money, but you will get a lovely, healthy alternative to any other all you can eat restaurant you've ever been to. It's the fact that Foodilic is all you can eat that I really love. The low price, plus the quality of the food, is just a godsend. I really can't recommend Foodilic enough, just recommend going slightly before and after busy times: it does fill up pretty quickly, and you really need to sit downstairs. Fantastic looking cakes and bowls full of Salad stuff so big that you could actually sit in them. Nice food for a quick lunch to take out. I'd not sit in again as it gets cramped and busy very quickly at lunchtime and you can barely move, but overall a nice atmosphere when it's not busy. The food is lovely, if a bit greasy, could do with a wider variety of good vegetarian foods, like quiches, tartes, falafel, chickpea burgers, all just to mix it up a bit instead of just oily veggies. Went here the other day for some dinner and had a delicious couscous salad with salmon which was right up my street as it was light but filling at the same time. The person I was with had an aubergine dish and was equally impressed, although being a man he probably would have liked a bigger portion. Our dishes were cold and we didn't realise you can chose warm dishes so I would advise actually looking properly first if you're after something warming. I was torn. Do I choose 5* or 3*? When your experiences range from the ridiculous to the sublime, what are you to do? Thankfully my most recent visit to Foodilic was an almighty success, so 4* won out in the end. My hesitation on choosing a star rating was simply due to a couple of ropey visits a few years back, but if the food is as good as this most recent visit then there may well be an extra star added to this review at some point. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are on display in the window, resplendent with vibrant colour and adorned with herbs and spices. One or two meat dishes will be served in trays nearby, so if you're just a fussy eater you'll be well catered for. Foodilic is like a Brighton institution, you would do your vegan friends a disservice by not bringing them here when they visit! read more

I have been several times in this amazing place. When one's pass by the shop window, the amazing food full of colorful and all those colors pretty well combined, you really want to go in. The place is quite small for the quantity of people going to eat. The food is really amazing , and the best of all ....... is free buffet for just around £6,00! They always have seasonal food, and it is a vegetarian place. Is amazing the good look, smell and flavors that the food have. I really adore the cuscus, pumpkin and spinach. I also love they always have some soup, as I love a good warm soup in winter time and even in the summer. I came in here 3 separate times on my jaunt to Brighton. I only ended up eating once but mostly because it was always so busy! I really like the value for money - £5 to take away a decent sized box (enough for 2 meals for me) or just a couple quid extra to sit and eat unlimited from the buffet. There's also a lot more space to sit upstairs too if you want to discourage yourself from getting too full. I feel like this is a place that appeals to everyone: shoppers, families, hipsters and hungry hungry students ;) Salads were elegant and tasty too - not always a combination one gets! Right On. Brighton. This place really encapsulates what Brighton is for me. Not the sea, The Scene, nor even The Lanes, or multi-mirrored scooters or even the space; a place to be yourself. Foodlilic represents an escape from London, to London by the sea to achieve a more balanced and creative life. Balancing work and play, fun vs the rat race. A balance of blue and grey, the expanse of the sky when you alight from the train. Ahh the sea air. I certainly felt very balanced after 5 portions of my 5 a day, visiting the well presented serving plates about 5 times at this homely place, a healthy twist on buffet culture. Salads were heartily flecked with toasted walnuts amongst firm sweet green beans. Rich roasted squash was rolled around with sweet caramelised onions. Crisp chard leaves were prettily punctuated with juicy pomegranate and tossed with salty sea tasting samphire. Yes, there are some great restaurants in Brighton and there are some god awful restaurants in Brighton. However here, in what clearly seems to be the heart of the buffet triangle, there's a Vegetarian South Asian and a 'We do everything: kebab/pizza/pasta/Chinese/Japanese/Americanese and you'll get your food served on junior school style plates' style place competing round the corner, but Foodlilic in contrast is a sensible way of scoffing some really rather sumptuous salads. So dears, have a sensible dinner before you go hard or go home. read more

Delicious. Not your typical all you can eat! Foodilic has been around in Brighton for about 4 years if my memory serves me correctly. I'd always walk past on North Street, and stare at the delicious looking food that is on display in the window...eventually, I ended up going in with a friend. What can I say, the food is delicious! For about £6.50 you can have all you can eat, and there is a range of salads and hot food for you to choose from. There's always sweet potato, which I love! Chicken salads, spinach, pasta and pesto, quinoa and other healthy delights to choose from. For the hot food there is usually mashed potato (it's sooo buttery and tasty), beef bourguignon, paprika chicken, and some sort of pork dish. I only know is because I ended up going there twice a week months on end a few years back. I haven't been to foodilic for a while because I really overdid it when I used to go! I walk past and the food in the window still looks the same, and it's still always packed, so they are doing something right. Another branch opened on western road, I think they have a slightly different menu, I'll need to check it out at some point. All in all, definitely worth a visit! read more

I love the way the food is presented at Foodilic- there is something so appealing about abundance, as soon as I see the heaped dishes of food in the window it's like being caught in a Star Trek tractor beam, I am through the door before I know it. The food doesn't disappoint either- crisp and tasty salads with fresh herbs and seasonal veg with a lovely crunch. It has a similar heartiness to Iydea in the North Laines except slightly more upmarket and more expensive. The main reason I wanted to review this place is to say- if you are a fan of Tiramisu...you have found your heaven. Foodilic has one of the best in town. read more

With a super affordable all-you-can-eat option for under £7, Foodilic is a fantastic alternative to the less healthy buffets around town. The selection isn't massive but what food they do have is all very tasty, and most of it rather guilt-free. They serve a selection of simple salads and cold dishes mainly, but do always offer a few warm meal options, as well as a homemade soup. The regular options are things like spinach and mushroom salad, chickpeas, lentil dishes or filo pastries filled with various things. The food always tastes really fresh and healthy and does a great job at filling you up at the same time - you certainly don't feel like you're eating 'rabbit food'. A downside to Foodilic would be that the place is very small and, even with the upstairs seating, if you come at peak lunch times (especially on the weekend) it is almost impossible to get seated straight away. There are often queues out of the door, and when you do get seated the space is not vast between tables. The menu itself also does not seem to change often, so after a few visits it is a little easy to get slightly bored of the selection on offer. That being said, Foodilic is still a great lunch or dinner option and if you're a lover of fresh, healthy, affordable food then you should certainly give it a shot! Without a shadow of a doubt, Foodlilic is my all time favourite place to go for lunch in Brighton. From the outside, I doubt it could look more inviting if it tried. All the delicious looking food is laid out in the window roasted vegetables in olive oil, spinach and mushroom in basil pesto, roasted sweet potato, chilli potato wedges, Greek salad, prawn cocktail, smoked salmon, stuffed pork, chicken mayonnaise... and that's just the cold food. They also do hot chicken, lamb and beef stews with rice, pasta or potatoes. Oh, and the cakes! Massive, chunky, chocolatey, iced goodness (and the HUGEST meringues I've ever seen). And the best thing? It's all you can eat (excluding the cakes) for £6.45 all day long (the price has just gone up from £5.95, but they've done away with the more expensive evening price). I can usually manage two piled up plates, but three just about defeats me. I keep trying though, because it's just so damn tasty. This little café is always bursting at the seams because it's amazing food at an amazing price. Astonishingly though, there always seems to be just one table spare. I guess because people don't hang around here it's not a place to go for a 'nice meal', it's a place to grab some incredible fast food. Because it's in North Street & not the Laines, the inverted snob in me had simply passed it by......I was both impressed & delighted by both the quality and quantity of food available. Alice already covers the food selection, but it was especially fresh, flavoursome and original. A (subtly promoted) 'eat all you like' health food restaurant with a tendancy to countries Mediterranean. This really appeals to me, being a near-vegetarian glutton!!!! If you've been tempted & then disappointed by the similar cheap, but grim, 'Indian', 'Chinese' & 'Pizza' places in town, relax and give it a try. I wish we had one where I live! read more

Proper fresh food, proper tastes and good quality ingredients, ready-to-eat and at a super price. This is as good no-fuss, quick bites for lunch get on the central retail strip of Brighton city centre. It seems a bit French - at least one of the waitresses was French, there were a couple talking in French, and I had delicious Beef Bourginon. There are basically big bowls of freshly cooked proper foods: lamb casserole, the beef, big bowls of rice, cous cous and various salads and chick pea dishes. It's about £6.45 for eat as much as you like, with desserts and drinks extra. The decor is low key, second hand tables, chairs and exposed wood floors, all with no fuss or pizzaz and lots of 'character'. I think this place ticks all of my 'ideal work lunch' boxes: quick, delicious, healthy, fresh, and ready to eat as quickly as you can find a table. Big recommend. read more

I don't know how long they're going to manage keeping their prices this low, word is spreading fast. You never know vegetables can taste this good until you go to foodilic!! I came here because of a friends recommendation and I've never regret it. At first u see a total of 10-15 different dishes. For a buffet lover that amount can seem a bit disappointing as the reason of choosing a buffet is the willingness of eating until fulled. However, that flavor that resembles a mix between grandma's food and a magician of the vegetables convinces you that this buffet is one of the greatest. The service is nice: the waiters are really charismatic and joyful. The food, despite of its lack of meat, really fills your stomach. And the place is warm and welcoming. Trust me!!! I've walked passed this strange looking restaurant while walking though bustling North Street many times..... always though the food looks healthy and different as oppose to other fast food in the immediate area. Last week I met my lady friend for lunch there and must say, it's not at all what I expected. Sure it's a bit small and the service is very laid back, but the food was cheap and delicious. The lunch time buffet actually had a very nice selection of food - beef, pork, chicken, rice, salads and many other vegetarian options. I come back here, every time I come to Brighton. The food is always delicious and made of good quality meat or vegetable. I always get a fresh pressed juice as well. Usually melon or apple and I'm always wanting more. This is definitely a great spot for a filling meal and it's inexpensive which makes it even better!
