If you're looking for American food and or the Diner experience, then you can't go wrong with JB's. I wasn't expecting to be waited on at a table, and was just after a milkshake, but I was whisked off by a friendly waitress and given a menu to peruse on entry. I didn't think the décor was "lacking" as Samantha put it, with plenty of old school pictures of American white picket fence loving 20's - 60's advertisements. It felt good enough to satisfy me. Sadly, I discovered I only had enough money for a drink, and seeing as the waitress had already brought me a glass of tap water, I felt rather guilty... She smiled happily when I explained my social dilema, and told me not to worry, so I stopped, and enjoyed reading my book in unfamiliar surroundings. I wish I had had money for food though, as (although it wasn't exactly budget) it looked and smelt great! There's a pool table for you to enjoy too, although I wouldn't recommend playing too many games while waiting for your food, as it you may be having to leave your game early, or else watch your food get cold.

This is the second time I have been at JB diners and I love the theme and the big portions of food however prices can be a little high even tho they are big portions. The staff is friendly. Mostly foreign. I wished that there were more parking spaces as parking on one of the NCP car parks is expensive to say the least.

JB's menu offers proper American diner food including BURGERS, cob salads, frings and steaks etc etc. The decor in some what lacking and there's some odd posters knocking about, its almost like they spent all the money on the furniture. The lacking decor stands out as the restaurant is absolutely massive! It gets really busy with families and the food we got was a bit soggy and half arsed, but I'm sure it would be nice on if they weren't packed with customers. I maybe bias as the best American diner in the world is about a mile down the seafront but i have to stay I was slightly disappointed with JB's.

JB's is a nice, cheap American diner, serving American classics in a classic American surrounding with very reasonable prices. Yes, it's a little trashy, but so are the best diners in the US: it seems purposefully cultivated here, which is the right way to go. This would all be fine if the food was anything better than OK... it's not bad, just nothing special, and in the centre of town, restuarants really need to be offering something special: JB's is more than a little dull in comparison. Brighton already loves its burgers, and the likes of GBK and Grubb's have spoiled me rotten. Yes, I like my burgers with a bit of pizazz now, or at least more than just the basic, classic flavours. That's what JB's offers: the classics, not even done particularly well. They aren't bad, just nothing special, which may as well be a death sentence around here. Apart from that, the set-up here is lovely, very 'classic American diner' even down to the Tom and Jerry cartoons on the TV. I appreciate all of this, and really like the atmosphere, but just want more out of my burgers. Shame, really...

A funky diner where the staff dress up like they stepped out of a Grease musical. The milkshakes are huge and awesome. Be sure to have an Oreo Cookie shake- yum! The food is fitting for the theme with giant hot dogs and burgers galore. They do sell salads as well if you want a healthy option. Be warned, the servings are huge and very filling. I orderend a starter and shared a sharing starter with my friend and didn't finish- oops! Also, if you're not into milkshakes the wine is just as nice, I had a glass of house rosé and it was delicious. Be sure to give Betty Boop a kiss on your way out.

Good presentation and huge portion size! Too bad it didn't taste as good as it looked.

I give them a two-star review just because the interiors, milkshakes, the presentation and staff were nice. The food, however, is another story. The burger patties were way too dry, the buns were burnt, the chips were unpleasant and the coleslaw was sour. This applies to all burgers and sides our group had. Won't go back and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to try it either. It's not so bad that it's worth going there only once for the exceptionally bad experience, it's just unnecessarily bad. Least valuable food I've had in Brighton over the six months I've been here. 'Cause it's not cheap - then it would've been a slightly different story.

Had a very nice experience here! The portions are big and my Texas Bbq was yummy! Also the place looks great, I felt like I was in Pulp Fiction.

Ok so there are some things I really love about this place - the cool retro American diner decor, the vibe, the milkshakes!! I like the breakfasts, I really enjoyed my American breakfast here, it was huge! I admit its not the best food in the world and you can tell they use cheap ingredients but it is what it is and I think it works ok. It's cheap and on the seafront so I think you get what you pay for. Its not somewhere I would want to go every week but now and then I have an urge to go there. It's a great place to take friends as its really cool inside with all the American memorabilia to look at and the old rock & roll songs playing. It's worth going just for the milkshakes..we order 1 milkshake and ask for it in 2 glasses as this is plenty! if you have one to yourself then the refill they give you is the same size as the actual milkshake so it can be a bit much! It is an American style diner and the portions certainly are American sized so go there hungry. I am not tempted to go there for a burger as there are so many great burger places in Brighton so I know I would be disappointed but for the occasional big breakfast and milkshake then its a winner for me. The waitresses are friendly enough but at times it can be difficult to get their attention and sometimes they seem to forget things... Saying this, it can be very busy in there so I don't want to be too hard on them. This is not somewhere to go if your in a rush but its a cool place to sit for a leisurely shake or bite to eat.

There is a gorgeous little terrace balcony, with limited seating, but a real treat if there is room for you. I opted for the classic burger which had THE best bacon in it and was served on a really good bun - very important for a good burger! This was served with some skin on skinny fries which I really liked, although everyone in my group added salt, I found them to be just right. I also had the cherry milkshake which was really thick and had a super cherry taste - I just wish it was bigger as it was delicious!

It's also impeccably clean and the lighting is perfect for sitting down and reading my Kindle. That's what I was thinking... as I was about to have lunch with Sophie. This place is actually MASSIVE. I like plenty of space to breathe. I had plenty. Don't make the mistake of walking past with the assumption that you will be cramped up against another table. Before I visited, I had assumed that No 32 was nothing more than a middle-class cocktail bar that served a few nibbles. I was almost entirely wrong. I was having lunch with Sophie, a few tables away there were some 40 somethings having some kind of Christmas catch up across the room there was a woman sitting alone doing some work on her laptop. It's peaceful, I like it. The food is also A LOT better than I had expected it to be. I don't think No 32 is particularly well known for its food, but I'd highly recommend eating here if you're looking for a reasonable mid-priced lunch in the middle of town. Sophie and I shared a Classic Burger and Chicken and Chorizo Burger, both with fries. These were priced at £12 ish each. As far as Classic Beef burgers go, this was a 7/10. It's not Burger Bros tasty but it probably makes it into my top 5 favourite burgers in Brighton. The Chicken and Chorizo burger is a new favourite of mine. I'm going for 9/10. Could have done with a little bit more chorizo-ey sauce and a tad more moisture but it was really great. I'd go as far as saying this is in my top 3 for chicken burgers in Brighton. The fries were crispy AND soft. I have no idea how they have achieved this. It was a lovely lunch. I will go back, I will breathe easy, I will eat the chicken burger and I will enjoy reading.

I let Cat, the booking manager, know the situation, and she was a wizard at making sure everyone had the food that they ordered. We had a room upstairs to ourselves, and everyone loved the food and service. We all got what we had pre-ordered with Cat, and the people who didn't preorder were proffered dinner in a timely fashion. The food was great! I got the tomato tart and the beef cheek. I had never had a tomato tart before but really enjoyed it, and I thought the beef cheek was very tender. Other people raved about the fries. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Drinks were good! I had a cocktail called "The Bees Knees," which I really liked. There are plenty of beers on tap, and the waitstaff gets around to bar belly-uppers quickly. The space is amazing. There's a second story, rooftop courtyard, and a large downstairs area for dancing, live music, picture taking, and a brewery/beer store attached. As someone who loves lots of diversions and micro-vibes within a bar, I really enjoyed bopping between all of these areas. What better way to finish off the night than to catch a trio downstairs playing motown and rock? These guys were terrific: the bass player/singer was getting the crowd dancing, and the guitar player and drummer were seamlessly providing a groovy beat. This band is good enough for a high cover and the Mesmerist brought them in on a Thursday night, no cover. Thanks for everything, Mesmerist!

Set up in a tiny, shack-like kitchen just beside the Giggling Squid, Brighton Burger serves hearty, honest, flavoursome food. Their menu is wonderful, hosting many unusual eats and obscure burgers - from wild boar to buffalo- but they also server your usual burger and fries to a very high standard. The burgers themselves are almost moist and full of flavour. So moist, in fact, that my takeaway burger soaked through the paper bag (my only teeny complaint!). This can be forgiven though, for as soon as you bite into the juicy burger, cuddled by sweet, soft bun and topped with whatever glorious accompaniments you opted for, everything can be forgiven. Literally everything. This last visit had me trying out the buffalo burger, which was absolutely delicious! Not as different tasting as you might expect it to be, but certainly different enough that you notice you're tasting something new and out of the ordinary! I added chips to my order and they came out, all thin and crispy, just how I like them! I almost typed there were 'too many chips' there, but let's be honest there's no such thing. There were loads of them though, in one portion, so maybe share between two if your appetite is not massive! The man who served me was pleasant (they always are!) and the service was quick and painless. The burger and chips came to around £8 which, though not the cheapest in Brighton, is so so reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of the food here! There's also a few tables and chairs dotted out by the front of the place, so you can sit in the sun (when it's about) and enjoy your burger in peace, watching the world go by! If you're in Brighton and you haven't tried these burgers then, firstly, shame on you, and secondly TRY THEM. I'll eat my hat if you're not impressed and back again for seconds the next week! :P
