The Burger Bar does exactly what it says on the label: tasty burgers, as well as an assortment of other burger bar classics: hot dogs, chips, cooked English breakfast, and so on. The quality is high, as is the price, which seems a little much considering food has to either be taken away or eaten outdoors. As a satellite of The House, the very tasty and upmarket restaurant around the corner, The Burger Bar's quality cannot be disputed. The burgers themselves are beefy, hearty, and packed with juicy flavour; much better quality than the ubiquitous McDonald's/Burger King, as well as the late night joints such as RFC around the corner. The various sundries are of similar quality, and the cooked breakfast is also to a very high standard. However, this alludes to The Burger Bar's main issue: it is hopelessly mired somewhere between upmarket restaurant and market stall. The food is great quality, relatively pricey (considering the always popular Starbucks across the road and the locally-sourced, reasonably priced Toasters next door), but doesn't befit being plonked in a cheap, styrofoam take-away box. Similarly, anything that requires a plate to eat, such as the cooked breakfast, is almost impossible considering Market Square is at a slight angle. Forgive the pun, but I've had more than one runaway sausage moment! In conclusion, The Burger Bar is great, but confused. The food is to a high standard, but the mixture of low-end burger bar and high-end food is a little strange. If it was open til late, and served Brighton's late-night revellers, it would make more sense to me; as it stands, it is a pleasant peculiarity.

This place was exactly what we were looking for. After a 2 hour drive through the country, we were both starving and felt like a burger. I yelped 'burger' and up popped Brighton Burger. Seemed to fit the bill. We came upon a little shack, with a very nice, helpful man on the other side who took our order, made sure it was exactly to our liking, and made our burgers. The burgers were sublime. The buns weren't exactly what we were looking for, but all in all, very good. The sweet potato fries were perfect.

Proper burgers in the heart of Brighton. That's what Brighton Burger is all about. Right in the Lanes, off Market Square, it's a fun place to grab a bite and the burgers really are excellent. Lots of choice, good quality beef and cheery service. We sat outside (yes, not always an option this summer) and loved watching the world go by with our fries, burgers and drinks. I'd really recommend Brighton Burger as a place to bring the kids when you're next in town.

Blind Pig burger I'm about to devour! Garlic mushrooms, maple bacon and Danish blue cheese!!

Dead Impressed. I was feeling a bit delicate following Pride weekend, and still had my friends down visiting so I thought I'd show them around Brighton on a normal day. My bf recommended Brighton Burger as I'd never been before. He insisted that they were really tasty (Scott is a bit of a burger aficionado) so I trusted his judgement. All I can say is wow! My burger definitely hit the spot. A beef patty with mushrooms and blue cheese. It was really nice and the filling was generous. The guy who served us was lovely and chatty, and enthusiatic about burgers! He asked us a few times if we were happy with our food, which we were! I thoroughly enjoyed my burger. I always rave on about Burger Brothers to anyone that will listen, but I really enjoyed my Brighton Burger. Equally as good as Burger Brothers but in a different way (if that makes any sense?)

Bean burger and Ranch burger, so good!

Delicious, fresh food, great service, friendly chef! Coming from California, I'm used to many burger joints, but the bean burger was one of the best veggie burgers that I've ever had. The chips were perfectly crispy and thin so they complimented our burgers well. A friend ordered the Ranch burger and said the same of her food. We would both highly recommend it. Quick service, happy customers, great food!

This is my favourite burger bar in Brighton. Tasty beef, delicious fries and a cool place to sit in the South Lanes. Its pretty cheap and a shoot off from House round the corner. I like the design of the front with all the text, it looks striking and inviting. They have a really good array of burgers plus tons of other stuff which I am sure is done very well, but I am a bit of a purist and always stick to the same thing, Cheeseburger, Fries and a drink, its 4 quid which is a bargain lunch when in need of beef.

Including the desserts. I loved it so much that I excitedly tweeted to them that I would singlehandedly keep a restaurant open in Brighton. And they replied to me telling me to wait. Well... the wait is over! Today I was invited to the opening of the new Leon Restaurant in Brighton which replaces Eat. I think this is a brilliant swap as Eat was far too similar to its neighbour Pret. But Leon is quite different in that it offers warm, hearty food. Setting up just before winter is also probably a good move. The decor is really nice and chilled out. They make good use of the space which I've previously found a bit dark and claustrophobic. Katy and I were greeted by some of the nice workers at Leon and told we could each choose a meal and drink to have on the house. We both went for the Moroccan Meatballs (on my recommendation). I had a lemonade to drink and Katy went for a green smoothie. We also picked up a few sweet treats: my favourite lemon and ginger slice and a billionaire shortbread for Katy. The meatballs are my favourite so I knew I would like them, but Katy had never been to a Leon and she loved it as well. She began talking about how close it is to her work and how she will be able to pop in on breaks for a relatively healthy and warm meal. We also tried searching for the menu online and a sneaky link to Deliveroo popped up. So we're hoping they're going to be one of our delivery options soon.

This is bloody marvellous, for easedropping potential if nothing else: the people who frequent are an eclectic and wonderful bunch. Last time I did this, a man punched a woman over a dog, some drunk students threw up on each other, and a man proposed only to be unsurprisingly turned down. What do you expect? It's on the seafront, it's open all night: who are they gonna attract? Drunk people and insomniacs, and neither really wants to be there. The menu is huge: most of it is awful. Stick to chips and well-cooked to avoid a premature end to your all-nighter. Its not like I have ever seen this place in the cold light of a sober day either. I literally had no idea where this place even was until I looked it up on Yelp. Some how, the torrents of friends that have lead me to its doors as we stumble beneath our unwieldy legs have managed to convince me that 80's music is good, and that Doctor Who can actually be quite emotional, but NEVER that RFC would be a good idea at any time of night. She brings me home chicken, chips and a can of Coke. Then, she takes a bite of a chicken wing and falls asleep mid-chew. So I eat her chicken too. I eat it all. Because it's 4 am and it's the weekend. You will probably never eat at RFC at any other time than 4 am, on a weekend. The chicken is ok. Often it's a bit dry. The chicken wraps are my favorite. I like the mayonnaise here. It's hot and gooey. They don't really put any salad in the wrap though, just a few scraps of sorry-for-itself lettuce. The little RFC bags will sometimes come with sachets of salt, a toothpick, a lemon hand wipe and a serviette. I finish off the chips, freshen my face with the hand wipe and tuck myself into bed.

If you fancy a toastie of nearly any variety, or a do-it-yourself salad, or a slice of home-made cake, this little sandwich bar with a twist is for you. There is so much here I could wax lyrical about... The toasties, the main focus of the menu, range from single-slice chocolate or cinnamon toasts to elaborate, multi-slice sandwich specials, and are all hand-made on order. The wait is short, and the quality exceptional. I personally recommend the Gourmet Specials: each of them is a triple-decker toasted sandwich, with more than one fresh and local ingredient - heavenly! The prices are very reasonable, for the toasties as well as the salads (which, I'll admit, I've never tried, but look delicious), the home-made cakes (yep, home-made on the premises) and the various sundries. All of the local and home-made flavour is packaged beautifully in a modern, hip-looking locale, an old-townhouse adapted into a sizeable seating area, although the very modern, Swedish-looking seating arrangement takes a little getting used to. My advice: sit at the outdoor tables in Market Square and soak up the rays in this very pleasant part of town. This little sandwich bar is everything you hope for from a local business, and a truly brilliant alternatively to the local Starbucks, Costa, etc. Give it a try, you won't regret it!
