This is probably the best place for a good breakfast. I've came every year when I was living in France, and I'm coming whenever I can since I live in Brighton. I bring all my friends from France if they want to taste a proper breakfast for an honest price. Even the service is welcoming, never get disappointed, nothing wrong to say, I would be so glad to go back there when this crisis ends, because I can't wait to taste again these beans, that lovely avocado, the perfect chips and that lovely sausage. I had a less than stellar experience at The Breakfast Club in Brighton Beach yesterday. Our reservation (party of 5) was for 1 pm. We were put in a booth in the very back corner. I honestly think our waiter forgot about us because it took 50 minutes just to get our mimosas. We had not been given water or anything in the meantime. Around 2:15, our waiter came and said our order had not gone through and that he was putting it in again. At this point, we were hungry and annoyed after being there for over an hour. The food was okay but nothing special and definitely not worth the wait. I got the pancake special. The pancakes were dry and bland. The potatoes were okay. My friends got eggs, bacon, etc. Overall, we didn't think it was anything to brag about. I probably will not return. Not something to go out of your way for! read more

I was recommended the Breakfast Club by a friend who is a fan of their London branches, but who hadn't tried this recently opened Brighton branch. I had heard mixed reviews of this one, but really wanted to give it a try for myself. My partner and I went for brunch one morning while our little one was at nursery, a rare child free dining opportunity! I really liked the decor, a quirky art deco theme with lots to draw the eye. The staff were really lovely too, and the ice was quickly broken when we immediately knocked over the pot of sugar on the table, an occurrence that happens on a daily basis according to our waitress. The menu is extensive so it's hard to choose, but I plumped for an old favourite of eggs benedict with a side of fried potatoes. My partner went for the American style pancakes with a side of chorizo. All was very delicious, my only complaint would be that my eggs were slightly under cooked, and nobody enjoys a snotty egg white! Alongside the food, we had an Americano and an Earl Grey tea. If i'd have had a little more room, I would have loved to have tried the salted caramel milkshake, maybe next time. I do think it's pretty expensive for what you get, but the atmosphere and staff were great so I will be back. I have to note the gluten free option here, because it was a good one. I asked about my options and was told that any of the Eggs Benedict/Royale/Florentine, etc could be made on a butternut squash stack. I didn't really know what a butternut squash stack was, to the point where when my plate arrived I said "is that on bread?" "No, it's on a butternut squash stack." Turns out, quite a nice way to eat a plate of Eggs Royale. Maybe actually better than the usual gluten free option of Very Hard Toast or Nothing At All. I daresay I'd enjoy eggs, salmon and sauce on a butternut squash stack even if I could eat English muffins. Yum. read more

Went here on a busy hot Sunday for a brunch with my wife and my parents. After a short wait we were seated to our table upstairs. The menu is extensive and the staff attentive. My wife has a gluten intolerance so asked if her meal included gluten. The waitress asked us to wait a minute and came back with an allergy book and was able to go through the choice and see if any other ingredients included gluten. To my wife's delight they didn't. The portions are on the large size but I am not complaining. Lovely food and would happily go back. Tempted by their chicken and waffles for dinner. read more

A classy breakfast concept in my favourite part of town, inhibited by the friendliest staff. One can expect to enjoy a hearty full English any time of a day or a cheeky drinks with mates. The establishment is spread along three floors, connected by a spiral staircase in the middle. The atmosphere on the ground floor is very dynamic, while upstairs is a more quiet and cosy - perfect for a longer meal. The bathrooms are in the basement, they are pretty cool and really remind of The Shining (certainly in a good way). Good, honest food and delicious cocktails in a stylish venue right in the heart of historic Lanes. Well worth checking out. Personal favourite is eggs with a glass of Prosecco - you should really try it. read more

The Breakfast Club has finally opened in Brighton! I've been a fan since I went went to their Hoxton Branch last year, so I was really pleased to hear they we're opening in Brighton. On arrival, we waited for quite a while to be seated, members of staff were milling around walking past us, seemingly not noticing us - it wasn't really too busy either. Finally we were seated and a staff member explained that food will take around 15 minutes to arrive as its their first weekend of opening and things are running a little slow. We didn't mind and thought that it was fair enough, but agai. It really wasn't THAT busy, so they need to work on that before it starts getting as busy as the London restaurants. My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork bun, and I opted for eggs florentine with chorizo on a butternut squash stack - great if you don't want to eat bread. The food arrived and it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend was really impressed and so was I. It was really nice to eat somewhere different for a change, and the food was just spot on. We were meant to go to Food for Friends. Because sometimes it's "nice to have a change". I wasn't looking forward to it. There would be no meat. I was certain of this. When we got to Food for Friends there were whitewashed windows. "Closed until July 1st". I tried really hard to hide my delight. Something I've managed to hide until this very moment. As I consoled my girlfriend, I assured her that we could go back when it re-opens. Secretly hoping we'd end up at Wagamma's. After skipping through the Italian quarters (opposite Brighton Town Hall), my girlfriend spotted that The Breakfast Club had opened. She gasped. This is always bad news. Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed. It just looks like a youth hostel from 100 yards away. People are just wandering around the place with nose rings, sandals and flimsy t-shirts. There is an air of disinterest around the place. "Eat... if you want". You can't tell the staff from the customers. Some guy then eventually came up to us as we were waiting in the entrance and his first words were... "Okay guys, just a warning. This is our first week opening so please bear with us as things are a little slow". Great, that's what you want, a warning before you eat. I didn't know whether to admire his honesty or just turn around. Then I looked at my girlfriend who was smiling. He could have been inviting us to sit down as they inject heroin into our eyeballs. It wouldn't have mattered, she was determined to eat here. So we did. I spotted loads of empty bar stools and I knew the guy was going to try and make us sit on these to eat our lunch-breakfast. This didn't fly with me so the first thing I had to do was request a table. I don't understand why they would try and make us sit on stools when there was a table free? As I sat down I realised that I don't even like breakfast. I don't like beans, black pudding, mushrooms or tomatoes. So I ordered the most non-breakfast food you can get at The Breakfast Club - a pulled pork sandwich. It comes with gherkins/pickles which I also shunned. I rarely eat pork. This had better be good. It's too noisy. The music was terrible. The seats aren't comfortable. Too wooden. The sandwich was good but could have been hotter. Chips are chips. The whole time it just felt like I was eating in the middle of Size? There was no Charlamagne. My girlfriend was pleased though. I'd like to give the breakfast wraps a go. I'll give it one more try. The Breakfast Club is not a bad place to eat but they really need to work on a few things. The first thing that is majorly off-putting is the amount of time that you have to wait before you get seated. There really is no excuse for their long queues as everywhere else in the immediate area does not have this problem - and it's not because they are so popular that the queues are long. You simply just have to wait a long time regardless of how many people are in front of you. The second thing is the attitude of some of the staff. When I politely asked how long the wait would be before we got seated, the staff member on the door responded in a very abrupt, clipped and condescending tone, "It will take as long as people take to leave" as if I was somehow asking a stupid question. I was instantly unimpressed by his attitude. When we did finally get seated, we got much better treatment. The waitress who served us was pleasant and helpful. When I asked her which options were gluten-free she went back downstairs and brought me back an allergen list which was most appreciated. After a little deliberation, we ordered and after a bit of a wait, the food arrived. The food was tasty enough although I have to say, their gluten-free bread is very unpleasant. I ended up not finishing it as it tasted like cardboard. I would rather they just not serve it at all rather than make a poor attempt at effort. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal which is why I am rating it 3 stars. Personally, though, I wouldn't choose to eat here again. read more

I love love the Breakfast club in Hoxton with the disco toilet and cool & quirky atmosphere so I was so excited when I found out they were finally coming to Brighton.... I wanted to love it just as much but sadly it's just not the same. It is still good though and worth going to as the food has loads of flavour and there are so many great breakfast options that are a bit different to the norm. The bloody mary is one of the best I have had and the juices are top notch. I usually go for the American breakfast which is fab but this time tried the boxton beans with pulled pork and poached egg which was really delicious. I went with a raging hangover which was fine until they turned the music up and I had to get out quick! I think its a bit too expensive but then again it is in the middle of the lanes. Finally we have one in Brighton!! :) I have never visited any previous to my first visit but I was not dissapointed. As you walk in there is quirky diner decor and considering it was a busy Saturday morning for Breakfast, we were seated almost instantly. I ordered The Half Monty breakfast, which was absolutely delicious! Especially the sausages - they tasted quite garlic-y but so yum! The homemade orange juice is so delicious and the latte's come in cute cups and saucers. The rest of the breakfast I couldn't fault. My boyfriend ordered The Full Monty breakfast which was utterly enormous! The menu's don't specify how many of each item is on so he also ordered a side of pancakes (we couldn't decide) We ended up with 4 stacked pancakes with maple syrup and bacon and they were some of yummiest we've ever had. So much food, so make sure you don't over order! You definitely get what you pay for! We would definitely go back there :) read more

I had the all American which was good. I substituted the potatoes for avocado. They served the pancakes with real maple syrup which was nice. The streaky bacon was perfectly crispy and crunchy. Small-ish spot that does fill up quite fast. No worries, the wait is totally worth it. I can only speak for breakfast but this place always delivers. Portions are huge. Great range of dishes. I had the burrito and chilaquiles. Best resembles Mexican dishes in Southern California. Unique pancake menu. Korean Fries Chicken with pancakes . Very disappointing! Went here for breakfast on Sunday morning, the wait for food was around half an hour which was fine, but the lines and people waiting was very unorganised and chaotic. It took ages for our food to come and it was all cold, you could tell it had been cooked and left waiting for someone to bring it to us for a long time. All of the food was boring and just did not taste right. I feel like they are trying too hard to be different with their flavours and it just didn't work. Very low quality food and you could tell from taste of it. We barely touched our food and were very disappointed with everything. It is not worth the hype at all. The bacon was undercooked, toast was stale, poached eggs over cooked (rock hard) and the service wasn't great either. Unfortunately not the best experience and I won't be returning. As one of the only places to serve brunch to a civilised hour, my partner and I thought we would try this place out. Friendly welcome, although the entire restaurant was far too hot, and quickly seated. My partner ordered a Bloody Mary which he thought was "quite good" at first, but which was rapidly ruined by the cucumber sitting in it. I ordered an ale, to be told it wasn't available, so made do with a lager not on the menu. For food, he had the chorizo hash browns with scrambled eggs, and I had the veggie all-American. His food was good, and mine ... acceptable, but just. It was only slightly slightly warmer than cold, which probably spoiled it the most, and everything seemed somewhat mismatched. We weren't put off enough to send anything back, but we most probably won't rush back any time soon. read more

I went here with my boyfriend while we were on holiday in Brighton for a few days. First off, the atmosphere is amazing. We were seated right away in a super cozy booth on the main floor, and our waitress was very nice. I have several food allergies (gluten, dairy, soy) and she brought out their allergy book and walked through it with me until we created something (not on the menu) that I could eat. The food (gluten-free avocado toast with spinach and scrambled eggs) was DELICIOUS, and the price was excellent, too. Overall, this was one of our most delightful Brighton experiences. read more
