My computer had water damage and I needed to get important files off of it. I called around to bunch of places and A1A was the only location that didn't just give me a quote and brush me off. Art, who I spoke to for 15 minutes, actually explained the process, asked lots of questions and was very helpful. When I went in, Art again took the time to explain what he would do and when I was concerned that, since I work til 5 and then close at 5, I wouldn't be able to pick up my computer. Art immediately said he'd have no problem waiting for me to swing by after work. In the end, I didn't even need my data to be recovered as Art was able to fix my liquid damage in under 24 hours. Very displeased with my experience selling my iMac to A1A. I spoke with the buyer over the phone, informing him of all the pertinent details (storage, memory, condition etc)- so that there would be no changes in the offer. He quoted me a certain amount. I was satisfied with the range he offered over the phone, so I drove one hour to drop it off in person. Upon arrival, I was informed that they were closing, and I'd receive a call the next business day by 11am-12pm after tests had been run. By 4pm, I still hadn't received said phone call with an exact offer, so I called to check in. Given that they are closing at 5pm, I now had to wait another day. The next day, they offered me the number on the lower end, regardless of the fact that my iMac is not only in great condition, but I also dropped off extra accessories (two keyboards, a mouse pad, and a mouse). They claim that it's harder to resell now with the new MacBooks that just released, however, there are definitely still people on the market for desktops. What was the point of mentioning the higher quote if you'd refuse to honor it? Especially with extra accessories included? We went back and forth on the inconsistency for an additional 2 days. While Guillermo was pleasant to speak with, I am very disappointed in my experience here, especially with their buyer. Had I known he was only going to offer me the lower end of the quote without budging, I would have never taken that hour drive, nor included additional items. I was unable to find the screw I needed however it was really nice that they were so generous. I went back again when I needed 5 screws to install a laptop battery and this time they went to the back and found the 5 screws that fit perfectly! If I could give more stars, I would. FAST, EXCELLENT SERVICE, GOOD PRICES! I have the fully loaded 16" MacBook Pro from 2021, which apparently has a ridiculously sensitive screen. Well, somehow this relatively new computer screen stopped working completely, and when I went to the Apple Genius Bar, they quoted me around $867 for a new screen, and they would need my computer for 3-5 days. Being CEO of my own business, I could not be without my computer for 1 day, let alone a minimum of 3 days! So I contacted all of the local Apple-authorized Dealers who said it would be even more costly (over $900) and would take about a week because NO ONE stocks this part, it's just too expensive. OMG. I begged for alternate solutions, and one of the Apple-authorized dealers suggested a third-party shop: A1A Computing. I called and spoke to Art who checked his inventory, and found 1 Apple screen for a 2021 16" MacBook Pro in stock! The cost for parts and labor is $805 plus tax, and he can have it ready in 3 hours! Hallelujah! I dropped it off with Art at 11AM, and at 1PM, Art called to tell me it was ready! 2 hours! 2 HOURS! THANK YOU ART!!! A1A is awesome! I have a 2015 Macbook Pro that had severe battery swelling, the top case was all bent out of shape and the keyboard had stopped working. As I'm sure everyone is aware, Apple will not fix their product, they will just try to up sell you on their next product. Art took a look, said he may have the parts in house already and if not it would only be 2-4 days to get the fix turned around. I got the computer back in under 24 hours and it feels brand new! They do NOT have poor communication skills. If that was your experience you should give more attention to their professionalism and expertise and not how they communicate. Unprofessional, nasty, and worse they don't know what they are doing. My MacBook Pro was returned with my operating system completely missing, gone! I didn't know anything about this lousy so-called computer service if not for Melrose Computing recommendation I would have never contacted a group of computer killers. I've thrown many PC hardware issues at A1A, from rescuing data from a crashed drive to getting a cage for an old internal drive to convert to external storage, to installing new internal drives - always done, reasonable $$$. I was referred to this place from a family friend and received exceptional service. My Mac laptop all of sudden died and wouldn't power back on. Be advised, as far as my experience, they have poor communication skills. Just know that two business days May not be how long it'll take them to fix your computer. Also ask for a copy of your invoice to have proof of how much the work will cost. Then keep in touch to make sure they get Hans on your computer and not hold the work for lack of any type of info they might say they need after you left everything ready to go. Arturo, the owner, is a good guy and means well, yet he himself doesn't communicate well with his employees and it's all over the place. I don't like giving bad reviews. I have to say, at list Arturo agreed to give me a special price for the service rendered after all the troubles. They should allow you to put no stars for a company because this company doesn't even deserve a star. I brought them my computer and they couldn't of f**ked it up worse than they did! I brought it in b.c. it had a virus. When I came to pick up my computer the girl said "We saw that you had Vista on your computer so we upgraded you to Windows 7." Or something like that b.c. I can't remember the exact operating program. So I'm thinking (1) wow that was nice of them b.c I know it's expensive to get that program but also wondering how I got it for free? and (2) WTF! You didn't even bother to ask me if it's okay to do that!? Maybe I like Vista. They definitely should of asked me for doing that to my computer as that's not why I brought it in. Sure enough a month later the program expires and says I have to buy it. And it starts causing more problems on my computer. It's as if the software had a virus on it. So I take it in and tell them to remove it and they do (I think) but my computer is still acting up. So I go ahead and spend the money to get the software they first put on my computer without my permission and that seems to fix the problem. Also, when I first got my computer back they didn't re-install my sound on my computer so it was missing. I had to go back and show them that it was missing b.c. they didn't understand so they ended up re-installing it back onto my computer. But the fact that I had to sit there and explain it to them and do their job for them when I know nothing about fixing computers was sad. "I would give them 0 stars if I could. " That's me too. They are actually nice people, as far as that goes, but the professionalism just isn't there, even a little bit. My story: I brought my computer in to them in September (a G5 powerpc iMac 20inch) and was quoted $350; then, two weeks later, I get a call saying that they will only pay me $275, because of a 'problem with the hard drive'. When I mentioned that the hard drive was fine, they said 'even though there was no outward issue, it may have failed our rigorous testing'. Ok, fair enough. Possibly sketchy, but in and of itself not too bad. But here's the thing - that was in September 09, I have been waiting over 3 months for my incredible shrinking check, and I am now sort of stumped. I have made 3 subsequent call-ins, more or less once a month, and all I get are promises, The last guy I spoke to - 'Alex' - seemed nice enough, but that was 2 weeks ago. It's been 14 weeks, and no check. Two words, y'all - STEER CLEAR. read more

I don't doubt their validity but I do think they might be anomalies. I recommend that you do NOT try to sell any of your computer components to A1A. I had a poor experience with them in 2010 selling an original generation G4 tower & I had hoped their business would have improved since then. Fool me once, shame on them. Fool me twice, shame on me, I suppose. These are the facts: - on 4/8, I dropped off a perfect working condition Mac Mini 1.66ghz along with 2 perfect working condition LCD monitors. Still wasn't expecting much for them; was even considering just donating them to the Salvation Army. Should have done that. They said they'd call & have a quote for me the following day. Not so. - on 4/10, not having received a response, I called & got a quote of $100. Great! Said my check would be ready in 6 weeks (which sounds rather absurd as it is, but I wasn't in a real hurry). 6 weeks would be 5/21. - on 6/21, not having received any response for 10 weeks, I called to see what happened. Was told they didn't know why a check hadn't been cut; everything was in order. They'd get to the bottom of it right away & call me back the next day. - on 6/25, not having received a call back, I called again. They told me things are still in order, however their accountant only comes in once a week (Tuesdays..???), but even though today happened to be a Tuesday, they weren't there because they MIGHT be on vacation this week(!?!). Said they'd have the accountant get right on it as soon as they returned. - on 7/12, not having received any response, I called back & was told things are good to go but that they can't cut a check until Tuesday of the following week (7/16). - on 7/16, I called before going over there in case there was yet another problem. Turns out, there was another problem. Can't cut a check til Thursday 7/18 now. - on 7/18, not having received any call during the day, I called around 3pm & was told my check was ready. Woo-hoo! I drove over there only to be handed a check for $75. Which is not the $100 I was quoted. Upon bringing this up, I got a "wow, I don't know how that happened. I thought it was $75." response. I wouldn't leave until they also cut me a check for the additional $25, which they promptly did with apparent ease (considering how difficult everything else had been). 14 WEEKS LATER I finally received a check(s). Amazingly, this is the EXACT SAME THING THAT HAPPENED IN 2010. Same completely shady business. Bottom line: never again. read more

This place is where you should go for Mac repairs or to purchase a refurbished computer. Art is very knowledgeable and will give you a fair price. In my personal experience, I had a 7 year old Mac Book Pro that was having one issue after another. I took it to the Apple store multiple times and they kept charging me for parts. When I took it into A1A, Art sold me a refurbished Mac Book and gave me a fair price for the old one. He was able to transfer everything from my hard drive and offered a 3 month warranty included with the option of purchasing an additional year warranty after 3 months. I didn't need to use it for the year. This week the battery gave out and I took it back to A1A to be repaired. The price was fair and I was able to use the coupon on this page. Happy customer! After going to Genius Bar who referred me to Melrose Mac who referred me to A1A for liquid damage to an old 2013 Mac Book Air, only A1A was willing to and able to fix what I thought was an unfixable problem. Replace keyboard and trackpad and it is working like new. Genius Bar took one look and tried to run a diagnostic and couldn't figure out how to get it going and told me trade in was possibly $100 but more likely $50. Cost more than that to fix but problem solved and don't need to purchase a new laptop. Amen for A1A! read more

I've never posted anything on yelp. I can't believe the number of bad reviews for A1A Computing - something's totally wrong. I have used A1A twice. First time, in 2010 my iMac desktop computer was freezing up and the hard drive was crashing. Upon my service tech's recommendation, I brought the computer in. They worked, tested, and ultimately virtually rebuilt the computer, staying with the process until we could see that I was out of the woods. I think the bill was $150 or something totally affordable, and that may have included replacing the disc drive. I just remember they were completely professional and supportive. Then, a couple weeks ago, February 2012, I was having email problems - somebody had hacked into my email and my inbox was filling up with postmaster-undeliverable and mailer daemon emails. Again, they jumped to it and in a day, they had solved the problem. To my complete surprise, they wouldn't take any payment (I don't know why) and asked me to write a review on yelp. That's when I saw all the negative reviews. I wish I could say more good things about them. My iMac is working fine, but I know that it's getting a bit long in the tooth (which is to say, it's old). I would have no reservations about working with them to buy my new iMac - which I will probably do within a year. Also, even though they moved a few doors down from the corner, it's still the same people - and I think the world of them. I just hope they are there the next time my computer goes down. Oh, and when holiday season came around the year of my big computer breakdown, I bought them a nice supply of Costco holiday cookie treats. read more

I got my MacBook Pro repaired here. I had a smashed screen. They were less expensive and faster than anyone I could find. I was able to get a loaner which cut into the savings a little bit but gave me 3 weeks without downtime, which was hugely important. The best thing about the loaner was that they put my hard drive in it so that I was up and running immediately with all my apps and data intact and ready to go. A1A computing used to be my go-to place to get my computer repaired. I recommended them to my friends and family all the time. They used to be great. Lately, however, I really feel that the customer service has declined. My boyfriend had some negative experiences there when he brought his laptop in for some repairs. They failed to fix something very basic and he had to bring it back within the day- and then they charged him again for that. They've also, lately, failed to communicate when they are shipping the computer out to be repaired elsewhere and failed to be upfront and communicative about how long it will take to get repairs done. Recently, they have consistently misestimated how long repairs will take. My boyfriend and I rely on our computers for our work-- so their inability to be straightforward in this regard impacted our jobs. Regardless, I can't give them too low a review, because they have done good work in the past at a reasonable rate. I hope they get it together and rise to their former level of quality. read more
