Hiring of better techs would be a great start. A worker that came out was rude and didn't care what we had to say. He didn't do his job. HIS tool broke in the middle of the service and he blamed it on us. Then reported to my home insurance that it was our negligence and that was why he couldn't clear the drain. He said there was an object in the drain when there is ABSOLUTELY NO way there could be anything other than hair in there being that at no time is the drain exposed and the drain cover we have over it protects it from anything bigger than a pea from getting in. On top of that he left the bathroom a complete mess! read more

Awesome!!! Walter to the rescue. After two different plumbing company's and 6 days no toilet function. Walter came in took a look said just a moment went to get a part. Replaced the flapper. Toilet is flushing fine. Yeah!!! No damage.. Thank you Walter. He said any issue to give him a call.. Defiantly.. Thank you again Walter. We even asked him to replace the toilet since we bought one due to first report. He said our toilet was still a good toilet. If you want to replace it it's up to you but your toilet is working fine. No damage.!!!! (I hope know one has to experience this issue.. Read below... From other plumbing companies: We have been without a toilet since last Sunday. After two plumbing companies First report from Omega Plumbing from William. We damaged the toilet due to moth balls for odor that my husband put in the tank. Due the smell from the back up. Wouldn't come back unless we replaced the toilet with him cost of toilet 150.00 installation and 50.00 removal of old toilet then he would clear the line. And warranty wouldn't cover any of this our fault.) Old Republic sent second company. (A second opinion Home Construction stated hold the handle three seconds you have a short lever till all the water flush's everything. through the toilet and it's not damaged. We don't lift and to clear the line you need to call another company.) Which we did. Called Old Republic. (They stand behind the warranty and sent for the third review to see what's going on between two earlier reports.) Walter to the rescue... A-1 Thank you. Now our toilet is working!!!! read more

May I just say, if you are looking to repipe your house, DO NOT go with A1 Rooter. They will be your worst nightmare. You would think people are mostly honest business people who go by what they promise, NOT THIS ONE. Once they collect their money and finished their job (it might look like it is finished but don't be fooled), they will deny you and their own crappy work. They somehow finished repiping the whole rental property of ours but missed a pipe. You would think they will come back to finish the job right? But no. They say they come back if you pay them extra. HARD TO BELIEVE but YES A1 Rooter does this kind of thing. Would you be shocked that soon after you repiped the whole house you have water leakage issue? Please don't be shocked if you fail to read any review on yelp and go with A1 rooter which is what we did. BOO......Well, there are times you have to deal with all kinds of XXXX when you actually believe in " decent service" and "business goes by what's promised". Water leaks from the pipe. It is as simple as it sounds. They finally came after you probably called 100 times and left 1000 messages. They tore the wall like they got severe anger issues. Left it opened and said there is no pipe leaking. TOOK OFF with my wall torn opened. " It is not the pipe that's leaking." The end. Maybe they are family with homeowner insurance company or something which is how they got most of their business - referral from the home owner insurance, but this is unacceptable. I am stunned by the type of service and attitude this company has toward their customers . Btw, please expect at least 3-5 days delay to get a returned phone call from them IF they already collected your money and made you believe they finished their work. Please, do yourself a favor to not consider this business. I am doing everyone a favor by leaving a review. read more

Technician had a very unfriendly demeanor and was definitely not professional. His work was so bad that I am now having to get it redone & dealing with the consequences of his failure to correct the problem. After he explained all the issues, all he did was replace a wax ring to seal the toilet yet he didn't repair anything else. He basically didn't finish the work. read more

A1 Rooter - Plumbing Near Me

We've been waiting for the install of a replacement water heater through home warranty and this guys is unresponsive left messages and never a call back we're still stuck with no water heater read more

HORRIBLE service to be nice. I came home from work to see the water heater door mangled. After confronting the owner, Walter, on his behavior he responded with attitude saying a bunch of smart remarks(very unprofessional.) He also saw the water heater hose leaking and left it because he said "I can't do anything other then what I am sent herefor". This was the reason why he left water gushing and said nothing to the homeowner until confronted about the mangled door. Walter is very unprofessional, horrible workmanship, and doesnt treat the customers or home with ANY RESPECT. We hired another plumber and this guy was in shock when he heard how (the owner of the business) treated us and his work. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY read more

The gentleman who came to my house had no customer service skills. He came to fix my hot water knob behind my washer. After he fixed that , the pipe started leaking. His excuse was he needed a work order from my warranty company to fix it. He didn't even ask if , I wanted to pay for it out of my pocket for him to fix the leak. But he didn't have all tools to fix it anyway. What kind of plumber doesn't have all tools you need?. So He left me with without water for 24 hrs. Until I call my warranty and approved the work. He came back the next day to fix the pipes. And Left a miss in my kitchen. I wouldn't use them again. Very disappointed. read more

Our water heater pilot broke, and these guys were contracted through our home warranty Old Republic. I was a little hesitant because I've had bad experiences in the past with companies through our home warranty. Walter arrived during his promised window, fixed our water heater in about 15 minutes, was polite and friendly, and even helped to check on my concern of a gas leak from a broken valve. read more

I recently purchased a new home and found that my water heater was installed improperly and was covering my dryer exhaust! I called A1 to see if this could be fixed...... Not only did they move the water heater, you can't even tell where it was originally! It looks amazing!!!! The two gentleman that did the work were professional, courteous, and clean! I have had issues with other plumbers and have heard sooooo many horror stories about plumbers. But I am sold on A1 Rooter! And they have earned my loyal and continuous business! Thank you again!! read more

I was happily amazed, that a plumbing company returned my call quickly, arrived when they said they would arrive on each occasion and fixed my problem without creating more. It truly was a breath of fresh air, wonderful customer service. Thank you Walter for a great job! read more

I have had several plumbers through my home warranty company, Old Republic. A-1 Rooter is superb! Walt has been to my house numerous times and has always provided the finest quality service. On more than one occasion he has given me money-saving suggestions when he could easily have made more expensive repairs. He has fixed minor problems when he has come to my house on major matters, not charging me for the minor stuff. Whenever I get a plumber through my home warranty, I have tried to get them to assign the job to A-1 Rooter, even if it has meant waiting a few extra days. When I have had plumbing work that is not covered by my home warranty, I have always called on A-1 Rooter. I can recommend them unequivocally. read more

I am very skeptical when it comes to finding a plumber. Since I don't know much about plumbing I was ripped off years ago when I needed someone, not a very good experience. My friend actually had just used A1 Rooter recently and referred them to me. I am now a firm believer there are HONEST people out there. Not sure who answered the phone but they were very professional and the plumber arrived on time as promised (within the specified time period). Very happy with the work completed. read more

As a new home home owner the last thing you want deal with is unexpected plumbing problems and floods. This was us Sunday. Monday A1 rooter came out to inspect the problem. He is explains everything thoroughly in laymen terms. He also took pride in his work and did a fantastic job. Thank you Walter! You are definitely an asset to this company! read more

Omg ongoing drama with this company!!!! Any how insurance sends out another company and they snaked it and fixed my plumbing within 20 min!!!! I would never "EVER" recommend anybody use this incompetent plumbing company A1 rooter there a joke if I ever seen one! read more

If I could give a negative minus star review I would. Sadly if you have an emergency DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME CALLING THIS COMPANY. 24 hour availability js false advertising. I called on Saturday evening left a message asking someone to call me Sunday morning for Water heater issue. Didn't hear back, so Sunday morning called again left a message and again no call back. It's now 630pm Sunday evening and I still have not heard from them. Poor service and I know they have a contract with American home shield warranty as a service provider so I will be sharing my disappointment with them as well. Extremely disappointed and I am one who prefers to use local businesses. Skip this one. read more

A1 Rooter is by far the worst contractor I have dealt with, and I have dealt with many. They were assigned to repair my faucet leaks by my home warranty company back in December and they have still not completed the repair almost 3 months later. 3 times their contractors have come, examined the problem and said they don't have the right tools or parts and will be back the next day which has never happened. Yesterday, they confirmed an appointment between 11 AM and 3 PM today - it is 4 PM now and no one has called. This has happened multiple times. I have called them and sent an email, no response. This reflects poorly also om American Home Shield for contracting with such poor quality contractors. If this had not been through AHS I would have cancelled and gone with another contractor long back. read more

There are no better plumbers in the area than Walter and his crew. We had leaks beneath the slab in a bathroom. Walter came out, diagnosed the problem, and explained what he was going to do every step of the way. His worker, Randy, is one of the hardest workers ever. The work was completed quickly, with no mess left behind. And the price was right. We will be using them for every plumbing problem from here on out. read more

I am the type of person that shops around when looking for someone to trust not to rip me off. I found a company i can trust and a plumber who is very honest and does one hell of a job. Recently Ray came out to check out the main line on a new property I am thinking of purchasing. I trust him soo much I respect his opinion and brought him into inspect the plumbing and main line of the home I am thinking of purchasing. We had a slab leak in our home and called A-1 Rooter. They did a thorough and accurate job detecting and locating the leak. The repair was made quickly and efficiently. We felt we were treated fairly and honestly and thought the cost of the repair was reasonable. Walter was genuinely concerned that we were completely satisfied. We will not hesitate to call A-1 Rooter with any future plumbing needs. read more

Great service! I was connected to them through my home warranty company. The plumber, John, arrived on the earlier side of the window of time I was given, and he was very friendly and thorough. He quickly and efficiently repaired the leak in my kitchen sink, and even offered his assistance to help fix another plumbing issue that for years we thought we'd just have to "live with." That extra level of service is something that is not too expected anymore. Will contact them again for future needs. Very happy customer - Thank you, John! read more

When I discovered water dripping from my ceiling onto my kitchen counter at 10:30PM, I immediately contacted my home warranty who referred me to A-1 Rooter. I received a voicemail from someone the following morning; however, it took several attempts to get a hold of them again to schedule a day/time for repairs. Once the date/time was scheduled, Julio arrived to perform the repairs. I have to say I was pleased with Julio's professionalism and prompt diagnosis. He explained his findings and next steps. He advised me of the cuts he would have to make in the drywall to resolve the issue. He was thorough with his measurements to ensure he would only cut what was necessary. When complete he had me confirm that the leak had been resolved and gave me tips about proper maintenance of the water pipes. Before leaving, he cleaned up all the dust and residue left behind from the drywall. Julio did a great job! read more

RUDE AND HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM THE TOP DOWN STARTING WITH THE OWNER WALTER MATSUDA! I would not recommend this plumbing service to anyone! I own a property in Covina and this company was contacted through my home warranty service. We had a faucet leak...the leak was repaired but the faucet was altered so that the levers had to be pushed down to turn on instead of up as they have always been. A1 rooter came out to repair and we were told that they would not make the correction to return our faucet to the functionality we had prior to their service. I spoke with the owner Walter and he was extremely rude...he would not even allow me to explain the circumstance/situation. We are now going to have to have another plumber come out to repair the additional problem caused by A1 rooter. Very rude, and unprofessional service. we own 5 other properties in the area and we will never use this company again. read more

Honestly & Reliability not found here. I submitted a claim into my home warenty for a pipe leak. A1 plumber and I quote "I got you, this is covered, let me explain to my boss and schedule a repair appointment." I asked what was his diagnostic and he stated pin hole leaks in my pex lines under the house. Two days later no response from A1 Rooter. My water has now been shut off for 4 days. I called my warranty insurance for an update, they too had no update from A1 Rooter. I received a call back from my warranty insurance stating that the plumber explained to them it was an improper installation of the angle stops. So now it was declined. However A1 Rooter offered to repair it. I was furious. I called a different plumber for a 2nd opinion, who performed a leak detection and verified pin hole leaks in the pex lines. I saved the pex line that was affected and provided it to the warranty insurance as proof that they are sending incompetent plumbers who are crooks and acting in bad faith on their behalf. Please be on high alert when it comes to utilizing A1 Rooter. By the way no one at A1 Rooter returned any of my voicemails. read more

Maybe I spoke too soon. It's just my husband and me at home, so I don't need to run the dishwasher everyday so I didn't discover until the day after A-1 Rooter replaced our disposal that now my brand new dishwasher won't drain. Since I know that the dishwasher and disposal share the same plumbing, I suspected that something was inadvertently disconnected or otherwise interfered with such that the dishwasher malfunctioned. So I called A-1 Rooter as soon as I discovered the problem and left a message on their voice mail. Then I left another message. Then another. I left 5 messages over 2 days before I finally called the home warranty company that referred my job to A-1 Rooter. I had hoped to speak with A-1, find out if my suspicion could be correct and give them the opportunity to quickly repair it. Instead, they did not return my calls and now the home warranty company is involved and aware of the issue. So I called A-1 Rooter again last evening and finally spoke with a person to explain the problem and schedule an appointment. I was very disappointed when (1) the person I spoke with admitted that the installation of the disposal and proximity to the problem with the dishwasher were likely related but (2) they would not be available to repair the problem they caused until Tuesday between 11 am and 3 pm, which means that I am without my dishwasher (did I mention that it is only 3 months old?) for 6 days. This is a major inconvenience for me - I now have to wash and dry every dish by hand which wouldn't be a problem if I didn't also have a life. Even tableware and cookware for two people multiplied by 3 meals a day for 6 days is a lot of dishes, flatware, tableware, and pots and pans. I am frustrated that A-1 Rooter since it acknowledged it created a problem that had not previously existed and did not make an effort to immediately correct it without further inconveniencing me. As nice as the technician who came to my home and did the initial repair was, this is simply bad customer service. They did not answer their phone or respond to my multiple messages and when they did answer my last call, they advised me that the soonest they could accommodate me and repair the problem they caused is still 4 days in the future requiring me to schedule my day around the 4 hour window that is convenient for them. If in the future I need to contact my home warranty company for a plumbing problem, I don't know that I will agree to A-1 Rooter based on what I've experienced to date. read more

My experience with this company was horrible from start to finish. I would never have picked them based on their yelp reviews but they were foisted on me by my (former) home warranty company, American Home Shield. Thanks to them, I also ditched AHS after this horrendous experience. One of the problems they were supposed to fix was a leaky kitchen faucet. I also had hard water buildup around the bottom of the faucet. The first plumber sent out (I have since learned that he is no longer with the company) was condescending, rude and incompetent to boot! I did not have a busted faucet before he came. Whatever he did, it resulted in a faucet that leaked water down into the cabinet below whenever the water was turned on. This caused water to flood in my kitchen cabinet before I realized there was an issue. Then they told me the faucet had to be replaced completely as they could not fix it. This whole thing dragged out for weeks, and finally, they came by to install the replacement faucet. Now, I didn't have a super fancy or expensive faucet, but the one they said they were only authorized to replace by American Home Shield, was the ugliest, most basic faucet that sat so low, I wouldn't have been able to wash big pots in my sink. I blame AHS too, because it is there in their small print: If a contractor they send breaks anything in your home, they are only obligated to replace it with something that functions, NOT of the same value. So this was a faucet that provided water when turned on, so that's all they were obliged to do, to compensate you for your nice faucet being broken by their incompetent contractors. The second plumber who replaced it, Michael, seemed nice. MUCH nicer than the first jerk in any case. However, I was not happy with the replacement faucet, so I decided to spend my own money to get a new faucet I would be happy with. To their credit, the owner Walter did agree to install my new faucet for free. However, he insisted on taking the new ugly faucet that my home warranty plan paid for (I thought I might try to sell it on ebay to get some money back), and condescendingly made it seem like he was doing me such a huge favor for installing the faucet I had to buy (because his contractor broke mine in the first place)! And unfortunately, that was not the end of the bad experience. The "nice" contractor who did the installation, bought something from my home business. Due to a miscommunication, I did not insist on payment at the time. But apart from one voicemail message where he assured me he would pay for the item, my many emails to him before and after his voicemail message regarding the matter have been ignored. I also contacted A1 about it and not surprisingly, there was no response either. I notice that almost all their bad reviews on yelp have come from people who got stuck with them because of American Home Shield - it suggests AHS customers are treated with lower priority and receive much worse service. I know I certainly felt that was the case. I would not recommend this company AT ALL. There are many more professional, honest and reliable companies out there to choose from. Some of us just didn't have the choice because of AHS. read more

excellent work; cleared the stoppage in no time. another plumbing company gave all sorts of reasons why he can't clear the stoppage and wants me to pay $175 for clearing the stoppage... The worst experiences that I ever experienced. Our homeowner insurance referral A1 to our house to do the repiping. After the work was done my wall starts to show water marks on the wall. After calling the company numerous time. They finally show up. The first time when they came out, they claim the water mark wasn't from the pip. It's probably from the roof. Also the pip behind the Refrigerator was disconnected. They claim it was not included in the job and I have the receipt it state it's the WHOLE house need to do the re-pipe. If I need to connect it, they will charge me another fees. Therefore, we re did the roofing and lately there was any rain but the water mark has gone worse. So we started to calling them have they come back to check again. It took a few week after leaving many voice and left message. They finally came out and very and professionally they cut three big holes and toward my wall down and still claim it's not the pip that was leaking and left. They didn't even to clean it up nor to patch up the walls. Leave with a mess. A picture can show a thousand words. I will put the picture for you guys to review it. read more

I had an issue with my kitchen sink. Some how the water was linking from the pipes. Well I decided to call A1 Rooter a company recommended by a neighbor. I was a little skeptical to using a new plumbing businesses, especially seeing how I don't know much about plumbing. But I decided to give them a try. Jonathan, was the on call plumber that arrived. He was very nice and polite. He kinda educated me on the issue. Making me feel a little more at ease. Turns out the problem was small. He could of charged me a fortune, but he didn't. My water heater went out over the week-end so I had to contact my home warranty company who assigned A-1 Rooter as the plumbing company to come out. Worst customer service I have experience, anywhere. Why advertise 24 hour emergency service when they take two weeks to fix something? They admitted fault with a repair contracted through Home Warranty service, but refused to come out and fix it. Finally had to get a big wig at the Warranty company contact them directly. We had no water for two weeks. It was a total, complete nightmare. Walter, the owner, isn't afraid to use misogynistic, insulting, rude, and defensive language with customers. We were nothing but appreciative and flexible with them and they were difficult with us. Luckily, the Warranty company finally sent someone else out and it was fixed perfectly within a day. That second contractor had heard nightmares with A-1 as well. Recently heard that you should only use contractors (including plumbers, electricians, etc.) with their name attached to the business. This is likely a quick set-up and run when word gets around how bad they are (think about how generic A-1 is for a name). read more

WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!! Home warranty assigned them to take a look at water heater. We were happy that since they didn't find a problem AND cuz we had to WAIT literally ALL DAY into the night for this company to show up. We thought they were being curteous and waiving the fee....not just billing the home warranty, when we were going to pay with a credit card right on the spot.
