I can confidently say that choosing ATamam was one of the best decisions we made for our home. To this day, every friend and family member who walks into our house says the same thing: "Wow, what a beautiful kitchen!" The design has truly amazing aesthetically and functionally. They did my neighbor kitchen so I was like I'm going just to get and estimate from the very first appointment, ATamam exceeded our expectations in every way. The team was professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in our project. They took the time to listen to our vision, Sean is so patient answer all of our questions, and guide us through each step of the process with clarity and care. The design phase was seamless and inspiring. Our vision was translated into a stunning, functional kitchen, with thoughtful recommendations that elevated the final result. (See picture below) We went to there showroom every detail from the layout to the materials and finishes was carefully considered. The value of what my husband paid for our kitchen is truly significant compared to what we received, the quality, im in love with my kitchen so happy to walk every morning and prep meals for my family and overall experience far exceeded our expectations. Project management was great. Communication was clear and consistent, timelines were respected, and the entire process felt organized and stress-free. Even one time Sean came to our house to fix one of the lights he was in the area just stop by that made me write this review. When questions came up, they were addressed professionally, which gave us complete peace of mind throughout the project. I also want to highlight the people who made this experience so outstanding. When you call ATamam for an estimate, ask for Sean, who was our project manager his organization, professionalism were outstanding. For the showroom experience, ask to be assisted by Enson Li his design knowledge, patience, and guidance made the entire selection process enjoyable and effortless. The final result is a kitchen we continue to love and enjoy every single day. ATamam delivered not only a beautiful space, but an exceptional experience. I would absolutely work with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality design, reliable project management, and truly excellent service. read more

We initially got a quote for redoing our driveway and a retaining wall. It was full of weeds and overgrown. My mother in law agreed with the quote and they got started on the work immediately. They attacked the driveway first and seems like they got all the weeds and old rock out in one day which was impressive. We get a text later that day saying that if we put back the old rock, there's a high chance that the weeds will be growing back sooner than later. When we got the quote, we told Danny that our main focus with the driveway was to prevent weeds and maintenance for as long as possible. It seemed pretty reasonable that putting new rocks would prolong any new weeds from growing back soon. We opted to pay the additional 5500 dollars. After 1 month, I saw weeds breaking through the rocks and a whole line of weeds on every edge of the driveway. I eventually text Danny to see if they can come by to see why there were weeds growing through the rocks after only 1 month. It took some phone calls and some texts but he said he finally came personally to the house while everyone was at work and told us that the neighbors had some weeds and thats why we can see weeds so soon. I took a closer look and saw that the weeds were actually growing through the weed barrier, not on top. He said he would send a crew to come and correct the problem but that day never came. He gave me 2 days that he said a crew would come, but never did. It was great working with them when we owed them money. The were on time, curtious to everyone they came across and even went above and beyond what was needed for the job. The fact that we were up sold another $5500 worth of product to help fix our issue, but then within a month, see that the new rocks didn't help at all. I'm not exactly sure on the final price but it was over 15k for the job on the driveway, that's a lot of money just to have someone essentially just pull your weeds and have them grow back so soon. The retaining wall came out great. I wouldn't hire this company for landscaping but maybe they do a better job in other areas. Update: they did comeback and correct the issue. They also put in a plan for the future to make sure the weeds don't return. read more

Shady company. I would not trust them. They call me every single day even though I have informed them numerous times I am not interested in their services, yet they keep on calling. Oily, used car sales tactics. Absurdly expensive quote. Contacted them about some finishing work in our kitchen. The reps "called their manager" to see if they could start the following Mon. They said they could "hold a spot," but only if we signed the contract before they left our home. The bid was $38,000. 4-5 days of work. Never heard back after asking them to put a few things in writing. My rec is to look elsewhere - it saved us about 30k. read more

I recently contracted A Tamam Constuction to remodel our master bathroom. They are a full service remodel construction company but we purchased our own materials and only had them do the construction. A Tamam pulled permits and did the demo, plumbing, tile, electrical, and finish work. All in all the job was done on time with a 4-6 window. It was completed at the 6 week date. Most of the fixtures and amenities were high end and a bit more complicated to install. There were several bids and they came in right in the middle regarding the price. We are satisfied with work done by A Tamam Construction. read more

After we moved, we wanted to redesign and add a water feature to our new backyard. We contacted A Tamam and Alan came out with his designer to draw up an initial sketch before starting the project. Alan was very patient with us as we weren't sure of what we wanted to do exactly and now my wife and I absolutely love our new backyard and can't wait to show it off. While we were going back and forth about the backyard design, his crew helped redo our side yard that was previously overgrown weeds and rocks. Now it has a nice paved area for a small car to park as well as a grassy area for our kid to play in. Alan and his crew were very fast and he was very responsive to everything we liked and didn't like. We were often not available, so he fit his schedule to meet with us on a regular basis to give us updates and make sure we were satisfied at each step of the project. He was very open to changes even if they were last minute. We ended up with a great waterfall feature, new vines along the fence, evening low voltage lights, and a fire pit that replaced the fountain that was left over from the prior owners. Our yard definitely feels more like our own and has a nice tropical resort feel to it. Our kid loves the waterfall feature. Alan even went above and beyond and sent us a gift after our second baby was born right towards the end of the project. I would highly recommend working with them for any outdoor landscaping needs. read more

The one line feedback: we highly recommended A. Tamam for your remodeling and construction projects! They are professional, easy to communicate with, and get the job done on budget and on time. Now more details - My wife and I had an idea about converting our garage and another room to a one bedroom unit, with a bathroom and kitchen. This City of San Mateo calls this an "Accessory Dwelling Unit" (ADU) and you can find more information here: https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/3907/Accessory-Dwelling-Unit-ADU We thought this additional one-bedroom (the "ADU") would not only bring in income but could also help with the real estate shortage that we have in the Bay Area in general and the Peninsula in particular. We spent a few months on the planning: Janelle, my wife, used Google Sketchup (free version here: https://www.sketchup.com/) so we could brainstorm layout ideas. We met with multiple contractors, slowly better understanding what would be involved as we received multiple bids (tip: do your homework, this planning phase and understanding and defining the scope of work is extremely important). We worked with A. Tamam's Engineer Luis to get the plans ready for the City of San Mateo and so we could get the permits. This process could have been smoother, with some details missed and a few corrections needed on measurements - but eventually we got it done. In February 2020 A. Tamam started the construction as they began the work on the rough plumbing. The COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench on the timeline: in March 2020 the construction stopped completely due to California's and the City of San Mateo's lockdown rules, but a few weeks later construction resumed. The pandemic also slowed down the delivery of some of the finish materials, such as windows (not A. Tamam's fault, we didn't even buy the windows from A. Tamam). I could write pages with the different construction phases, but instead I'll list them out the way we experienced it - 1. Rough Plumbing, sewer line 2. Load Bearing Wall 3. Pony Wall 4. Walls Opened 5. Rough Electrical 6. Framing 7. Rough Plumbing, in walls 8. Sub-Floor 9. Electrical, internal 10. Electrical, external 11. Insulation 12. Insulation, acoustic 13. Drywall 14. External Siding 15. Kitchen Counter 16. A/C Mini-Split 17. Electrical Sub-Panel 18. Plaster / Mud 19. Windows 20. Roof (separate company, the excellent Abril Roofing Co.) 21. Wall Paint 22. Ceiling Paint 23. Floors 24. Tile 25. Dual Meter Panel 26. Internal Doors 27. Baseboards 28. External Sewer Line (separate company) 29. Outlets, Switches, Fans, and Lights 30. Appliances 31. Kitchen Cabinets 32. Kitchen Counter 33. Bedroom finish 34. Bathroom Counter and finish 35. Living Room finish 36. External Finish What worked for us was to communicate with A. Tamam's foreman or workers often as we moved through each phase. In Software Engineering we have "daily sync" meeting where we ask ourselves: "What did I do yesterday? What am I doing today? Is anything blocking me?". We applied these questions to A. Tamam's workers as much as possible, often on a daily basis - we checked with the team on site to address as many questions and issues as possible. Allowing the workers to understand and let you know what they are dealing with allows you to ensure they are moving in the right direction and according to your preferences. I'm not going to sugar coat it: a project like this is stressful and you will find "surprises" as you move forward - it's the nature of construction with so many phases and work. For example, as we dug in, we found out that our sewer line under the garage was badly damaged and leaking - but we were able to get multiple quotes for replacing it and we reached an agreement with A. Tamam to do the work through a Change Order. Throughout the project, I always felt I had a partner with Tal and A. Tamam - we were always able to communicate in a professional manner, find a solution, and move forward. We highly recommended A. Tamam for your remodeling and construction projects. They coordinate with their own workers and different teams, such as plumbers, electricians, and others. They are professional, easy to communicate with, and get the job done on budget and on time - we would definitely hire them again! read more

I hired A Tamam Construction for a large backyard remodel project. My project manager at A Tamam was Eitay and he was great. Price-wise, A Tamam was not the cheapest contractor I interviewed, but I didn't want the cheapest. That being said, Eitay was very aware of my budget concerns and did everything he could to help. For example, he was very helpful in getting my raw materials (such as my new porcelain pavers) directly from the manufacturer and I didn't pay any mark-up since I bought directly from them. This would not have been possible without Eitay's help since they only sell directly to contractors and not consumers. Eitay helped us with the design process up front so we could see a 3D rendering of what the final result would look like which was so helpful. We had a very clear picture now which was very nice to have for the workers to follow the plan. Of course not everything could be followed exactly due to unexpected things, but whenever something wasn't clear or couldn't be followed, Eitay's crew would ask for my help in any decisions on the fly. Speaking of his crew, they were all very friendly and really hard workers. Our backyard project included complete demolition of an old aggregate patio/pool deck, grass area and irrigation, pool remodel, and running drainage from the backyard around the house to the front yard. Eitay was very helpful in getting a good pool contractor to take care of the pool part of the project which was no easy task with so many contractors being too busy and unavailable. But Eitay was able to use his personal connections to have a pool contractor work with him on this big project. Without his help, I never could have found a good pool contractor on my own without waiting several months for one to have an opening. With a project of this size, there were bound to be a few bumps and surprises but Eitay was always able to make us feel calm and that we were in good hands. Eitay was very responsive and always willing to talk to me whenever I needed him. He always treated us with the utmost respect and I returned that same treatment to him. This strengthened our relationship and made Eitay work harder on my behalf whenever anything came up. So while I won't say I didn't have any complaints, at the end of the day my concerns always got addressed to my satisfaction and I am very happy with how the project turned out. I would recommend Eitay and A Tamam Construction to anyone who needs a contractor for a large home improvement project. Before and after photos included with this review. read more

Interactions with Karis Quitugua (Project Coordinator) - kept me up-to-date on payments and provided invoices in a timely manner. The end / final project - I am very happy with how it all turned out. There were many factors that had to be taken into consideration: weather, materials, fabrication, electrical - in the end everything came together flawlessly. I want to give a special shout out to Ricardo for his expert workmanship with the tiling and the lights; Erik and Alfredo of Sar Builders for the stainless steel railing - love it!! The project consisted of the following: Pavers 2200 sq FY around pool area Outdoor kitchen built Rebuild of two retaining walls with new material. Keys were- - Design team was very good. While they had some attitude we like their many thoughtful suggestions. - project management by Sean was thoughtful and organized and timely. - Work quality was good. After seeing my initial review, someone from the company got in touch with me and wanted to make things right. He apologized for sending someone who usually handles bathrooms and kitchens for my estimate (which had nothing to do with bathrooms or kitchens). He offered to send another person (an "engineer") out to give a better estimate, free of charge. The "engineer" came out, on time, and crawled under the house to inspect the damage. After being under the house, he came out and said he could not locate any damage and no repairs were necessary. I found this odd, because I had been told by three other people that there was damage (I also had pictures of the damage.) The same guy from the company called and asked how things went and I told him his "engineer" hadn't found damage that I know was there. He viewed the pictures and agreed there was damage. I give this company some credit because they really did try to make things right (a lot of companies just don't care), however I still feel like a 2-star review is accurate. Based on all we've been through, their customer service is good (although it was really motivated by a bad review...), but their ability to do good work at a fair price is very questionable. I would not hire this company. read more

Our whole experience was very surprisingly pleasant. A Tamam Construction is head and shoulders above the other reno-businesses because they really care about making their clients happy (and of corse, doing great work on their renovations). My most recent project with them was finishing my small/mid size garage. Avi is super communicative. I can always get ahold of him, and he does not make us feel bad for calling and asking what may be silly questions. If extra work was needed upon discovery he did not make a big deal about it. If you use this company, make sure you have a thorough and detailed written contract that includes everything that the project manager tells you he/she will do including what you want and expect to have done. In our case we wanted all sheet rock taken down to the studs. We were told this would be done but it was not written this way in the contract. The project manager argued with us about the need to do it despite having previously agreed to it. The project manager was told several times during our interview that we wanted insulation in the walls to muffle sounds. This was another conflict with the project manager. These were just a few of many issues from the start of our small bathroom upgrade. In our contract a shower bench was included but the crew didn't put it in. When we asked about it, the shower walls had already been prepped for tile and it was too late to add. Other issues: The crew installed the vanity and toilet before installing the baseboard tile. We had decided to add crown moulding in the entire bathroom including the shower. Rather than installing the crown moulding first as we had requested numerous times, they installed the tile all the way to the ceiling which made the moulding installation more time consuming and difficult. We were told by the project manager to get a pre-hung bathroom door. When the door was installed, the new door frame was taken off the new door and thrown away and the existing frame was used. The door did not fit properly. We had to hire a door contractor to come in and install it and the door knob correctly. Many shortcuts were taken. None of this would have been an issue if the project manager had construction experience and clearly communicated with the foreman what was to be done and how it should be done. The company's management team was totally cooperative and listened to our issues. They came out several times to inspect the poor quality of the project. They agreed that the work was not up to their company standards. Management worked closely with us to come up with a mutually agreeable resolution which was appreciated. read more
