We began using A+ Pools three years ago and haven't looked back.  At that time a portion of the liner of our then 12 year old pool had pulled away from the pool coping. The company we had been using for a few years kept me waiting for close to a month and finally the person who answers the phone told me my liner was old and we should just replace it.  They didn't even look at it!  Vinnie was able to put the liner back in place and it is still in place three years later.   Our pool has an automatic cleaning system and Vinnie also got that working better than it had in years.  Recently, he was able to quickly fix a filter leak.  Fortunately, we haven't needed recent work on our heat pump, but he can do that, too. I have had three different pool services in the past. They all neglected the main filter which consequently became damaged. The initial setup was poorly designed and tight on space. However, we would have gladly paid for his services which seemed very reasonably priced. That was in September 2016. A+ Pool and Spa Service, Phil, came out to diagnose and repair my 20 year old hot tub. Before he even came out he asked me to do a couple trouble shooting things that might fix it without him coming out (and at no charge to me). K...that didn't work. We scheduled the appointment to a mutually agreed time. Phil was punctual and explained what he was going to do and the steps he was going to take to diagnose it. We had already discussed price so there were no surprises. He made the correct diagnosis and ordered the part. Now this is where it gets good.... He could have told me the heater was bad AND the board AND a pump and whatever the hell else could go wrong. But he didn't. It was a bad board...JUST the board. He showed me the circuit where it was fried. Ordered the part and came back a few days later to fix it. It's working great now. I'm glad you read about my experience ... here's the main take-away. I had an issue with my in-ground spa heating. I called my normal pool guy who made an appt to come out. It appeared as if a rodent had been living inside my heater and might have been the reason the heater wasn't working. After about 30 mins he gave up saying he could fix the issue and wasn't comfortable working on the issue anymore (smell of gas from the heater not igniting) So I turned to Yelp and found Phillip at A+ Pool & Spa. He was eager to help and made an appt w me to come out the next day. (Even offered same day service, but I wasn't able to get home until late and wanted to be there). He showed up on time and was quickly able to diagnose the issue. It was a faulty igniter (don't recall exact part) but he was detailed in explaining to me my options. I chose to replace the part which he said he could locate and returned the next day to install. He also looked at my whole pool setup explaining little tips and tricks to make my system more efficient and safe. Never rushed and easy to talk to. Glad to have the spa working and I found the cost of part and labor to be fair. I'm very happy with the service I received from Phil at A+ Pool Service. First, after I described the problem he suggested a couple things to try before setting up a service call. I always appreciate when a repair/service person offers DIY suggestions rather than instantly setting up a call. Unfortunately it turned out my problem wasn't an easy fix. My pool electrical system is very out of date and the breakers are old and overloaded. Phil did some temporary repairs and rewiring and laid out the full replacement that will eventually be needed. I was very impressed with Phill. My spa would not hear up. He first gave me a few suggestions over the phone that I tried. When he came out, he was very methodical when trying to address the issue. He knows everything about your pool, your pool water, and your pool equipment. His priority is his customer. He is knowledgeable beyond words. He has been a miracle in my life. My brand new pool/spa was not maintained correctly. Maintaining the pool balance is incredibly important. The testing of the pool water gives a clue to something going wrong or balancing just fine. A little too much chlorine and salt output can ruin your water, your pool, and all your equipment. This is exactly what happened to me. Phillip knew as soon as he walked into my backyard. My blue pool water was green. My pool sweeper was filled inside and outside with corrosion. Phill took apart my equipment to reveal corrosion throughout all the equipment. My maintenance service had not even fulfilled the top level of service for which I was paying. My inner and outer cartridges of the filter pump had never been cleaned and were green and thick. The cell of my Intellichlor had never been soaked. The output of the Intellichlor was far too high for the small size of my covered pool. The filter schedule had been set for too many hours. I have learned so much from Phill. The size of your pool is important to balance of chemicals. The same goes if you have a covered pool. Phill supported me throughout this property damage. Everything would need to be disclosed at the sale of my house. Do you want to pay a little more and get the best service in town? If you do, you will never regret your decision. I normally maintain my pool myself but recently ran into an issue that was over my head. it involved an air leak in my plumbing which prevents my pump from fully priming and therefore, my filtration system is not operating the way it should. i saw the reviews for this company and decided to contact them. Phillip got back to me later the same day and set up an appt for early the next week. He was running a little late, but called me ahead of time to let me know. when he showed up he was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. he spent 2 hours troubleshooting my problem and could not find the source of the air leak above ground. he recommended a company that detects underground leaks and said to have them check for it. he said if it turned out to be something he could fix he would take care of it. he also said since the problem just surfaced, i should just monitor it for a week or two to see if anything gets better or worse. i really liked his troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. instead of just trying to fix something that might make things worse, (my pool is 40 yrs old), and knowing the chances of success are slim he gave me a practical and honest assessment of my options. he also answered all of my questions regarding general pool maintenance so i learned a lot from him during the time he was here, bottom line, i am taking his suggestion and will monitor my problem and then contact the leak detection company if nothing changes. from my initial experience with Phillip, i would certainly say he is honest, fair and the exception when it comes to dealing with service repair persons. read more

Had heard about this company through a friend, and called about a leakage issue. From pictures we had taken, he was able to diagnose over the phone and immediately reassured us that it was an easy and inexpensive fix. Really? Not sure I have ever before heard that from a repairman. Better yet, he spoke the truth. After letting me know that the part had been ordered, he followed up again the next week, letting me know it had come in, and finding a good time to make the repair. Phil came to my home today and gave me any in-depth lesson on how to use and maintain my hot tub. I am in my 70s and the little house that I purchased has a hot tub. I do not know the first thing about maintaining a hot tub. Phillip was excellent to work with! Even before he came out to clean our spa, he was very quick with answering my initial questions about what our spa needed--he responded immediately to each message, and in fact, saved us money by recommending we test and make sure the spa heated up properly and worked first so we didn't have to pay the extra servicing costs if we didn't need to. Sure enough, it was heating up properly, so he informed us that we probably just needed a cleaning (and took off the original quoted servicing costs!). When he arrive for the cleaning, he was very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. We had Phillip come out to clean our spa, which had not been cleaned or used ever since we recently moved in. He thoughtfully and thoroughly did a visual inspection and pointed out things to keep in mind for maintaining and using the spa responsibly. He then proceeded to clean our spa cover, the spa itself, the underside of the spa (near the filter and heating unit), and around the spa. The spa looked so much better, and very clean!
