I was lucky enough to have Phil trouble shoot my pool sweep's lack of suction power. Turned out to be a faulty union. Phil was personable and shared a wealth of knowledge. Phil let me know the things that needed to updated in our 25 year old pool. Also I was super lu my that this turned out to be a same day service. Highly recommend Phil. You get what you pay for. read more

Phillip is very knowledgeable and honest. We ended up having to get our spa motherboard replaced, which was not cheap, but we were advised of all of the pros and cons before the work was done. Phillip was very thorough and made sure we were satisfied. We would definitely use him again. read more

Phil came out to fix the problem we tried to repair over the phone and via text during the early part of the year. Not surprising that he fixed it! Quick, affordable, AND professional! I have dealt with Phillip Miller at A+ for a number of years when I've had problems with my spa. In addition to being a really nice guy he is a near miracle worker. I have an old spa - about 40 years old - that I've hung on to because I like it's layout. He has kept my old spa working great. He always seems to know just how to keep it ticking. I would definitely recommend his services. And, as has been my experience, you'll not only get your spa fixed and running great, you'll make a new friend. read more

Great customer service and communication! A+ Pool and Spa service wasn't able to help me directly, but pointed me in the right direction for which I'm very grateful. I highly recommend A+ Pool and Spa Service and Repair. read more

I am VERY happy with the service and expertise provided by Phill. My pool heater needed repair & after me describing the issue to him, before even coming out to diagnosis the problem, Phill had me try a few things first to see if that did it, to try to save me any expense. Well it ended up definitely needing repair. He diagnosed the issue, ordered the parts and as soon as they came in, came back out and fixed the problem! I saw a previous comment calling him the "Pool Whisperer" and I second that! read more

If you are like me in need of repair of your spa Phillip is the person to call. My spa is 20 plus yrs old spa is great condition but the computer system and heater after 20 yrs went out. I thought it was only my heater but Phillip informs me its the computer too and might want to change the pump as well. He breaks it down for me to decide if i spend over 2 thousand dollars of replacement parts and labor I might want to buy a new spa. Long story short and this project did come with problems but not by Phillip. The third new computer or brain of the spa went in without a hitch. Thanks to Phillip our spa is running like it was brand new. read more

Phillip is like the Pool Whisperer. He saved my 50+ y.o. pool in Curtis Park from disaster several times. After buying my house, he did a great analysis of what was wrong, communicating clearly and presenting multiple realistic options to bring the green sludge-filled pool back to clear blue health. He's also been great in helping me understand the current state of plumbing, for example, and what we'll need to do in the short and mid-term to keep it in top shape. I also hired Phillip to do weekly pool service. He's been great about checking in when there are issues and keeping the pool well balanced. Phillip does quality work and has an excellent sense of customer service. I find his prices to be reasonable, as well. It's been a pleasure working with him and would highly recommend him. read more

We began using A+ Pools three years ago and haven't looked back.  At that time a portion of the liner of our then 12 year old pool had pulled away from the pool coping. The company we had been using for a few years kept me waiting for close to a month and finally the person who answers the phone told me my liner was old and we should just replace it.  They didn't even look at it!  Vinnie was able to put the liner back in place and it is still in place three years later.   Our pool has an automatic cleaning system and Vinnie also got that working better than it had in years.  Recently, he was able to quickly fix a filter leak.  Fortunately, we haven't needed recent work on our heat pump, but he can do that, too. Vinnie and his A+ crew are always professional, courteous and efficient, whether doing the routine opening and closing of the pool or an emergency repair.  We highly recommend Vinnie Marone and A+ Pools and Spas.  His number is 732-433-4444. read more

I have had three different pool services in the past. They all neglected the main filter which consequently became damaged. The initial setup was poorly designed and tight on space. Phill fixed the problem and overcame an issue caused by a change made by the filter manufacturer. In addition he provided great advice and guidance. Wonderful to deal with. Honest and responsive. If you have problems with your pool or equipment I highly recommend you try A+ Pool and Spa. You will be helping our community by supporting a local small business owner and you will be helping yourself by employing an excellent pool repair service. Thanks for the great job Phill! read more

Phillip is professional, knowledgeable, skilled and an all around nice guy. I hate to say that my spa sucked one of those floating scum sponges into the filter system. Not having any idea what to do about it, I looked around and thankfully found Phillip. He was at my house within a couple days, retrieved the sponge and serviced the entire system. I am still shocked that the spa sounds like new (it is only 3 years old). Overall he did a fantastic job and I highly recommend him. read more

Phill responded quickly and offered us some very good advice regarding our pump failures. We took his advice and worked out an acceptable compromise with the builder. However, we would have gladly paid for his services which seemed very reasonably priced. That was in September 2016. Recently, our sweep failed and once again Phill was ready to help us figure out the best course of action; which he did. I highly recommend Phill based on his knowledge, honesty and communication skills. While it's certainly easy to call one of the big guys for a repair, it's doubtful you'll receive the same personalized service or attention to detail that you will with A+. read more

Quoted work at price other would do for half the price and would reduce hot tub functionality. Seemed stuck on selling expensive one size fits all solutions. read more

I had an issue with my in-ground spa heating. I called my normal pool guy who made an appt to come out. It appeared as if a rodent had been living inside my heater and might have been the reason the heater wasn't working. After about 30 mins he gave up saying he could fix the issue and wasn't comfortable working on the issue anymore (smell of gas from the heater not igniting) So I turned to Yelp and found Phillip at A+ Pool & Spa. He was eager to help and made an appt w me to come out the next day. (Even offered same day service, but I wasn't able to get home until late and wanted to be there). He showed up on time and was quickly able to diagnose the issue. It was a faulty igniter (don't recall exact part) but he was detailed in explaining to me my options. I chose to replace the part which he said he could locate and returned the next day to install. He also looked at my whole pool setup explaining little tips and tricks to make my system more efficient and safe. Never rushed and easy to talk to. Glad to have the spa working and I found the cost of part and labor to be fair. I'd definitely not hesitate to use Phillip again and he will be my first call if I ever have a pool/spa issue again. read more

A+ Pool &Spa is a great company and the technician was awesome! He (Phil) saw my huge leak on my above ground Hot Tub and fixed it quickly. He knew his stuff. I'll use him again. I recommend this company! read more

A+ Pool and Spa Service, Phil, came out to diagnose and repair my 20 year old hot tub. Before he even came out he asked me to do a couple trouble shooting things that might fix it without him coming out (and at no charge to me). K...that didn't work. We scheduled the appointment to a mutually agreed time. Phil was punctual and explained what he was going to do and the steps he was going to take to diagnose it. We had already discussed price so there were no surprises. He made the correct diagnosis and ordered the part. Now this is where it gets good.... He could have told me the heater was bad AND the board AND a pump and whatever the hell else could go wrong. But he didn't. It was a bad board...JUST the board. He showed me the circuit where it was fried. Ordered the part and came back a few days later to fix it. It's working great now. I'm glad you read about my experience ... here's the main take-away. The man is honest and fair as well as professional and personable. If you're having an issue with your hot tub, spa or pool, A+ Pool and Spa Service (and the owner Phil) come to you with my highest recommendation. read more

I'm very happy with the service I received from Phil at A+ Pool Service. First, after I described the problem he suggested a couple things to try before setting up a service call. I always appreciate when a repair/service person offers DIY suggestions rather than instantly setting up a call. Unfortunately it turned out my problem wasn't an easy fix. My pool electrical system is very out of date and the breakers are old and overloaded. Phil did some temporary repairs and rewiring and laid out the full replacement that will eventually be needed. There was no pressure or upselling whatsoever. Phil is exactly the kind of conscientious contractor any homeowner hopes to get when they call for service. read more

Phillip is truly a caring, kind, wonderful and selfless man. I called him about a broken pool light. He advised me to call our home warranty first and if they won't cover the light, we have some options. What impressed me most was that he spent time explaining our options and most of all sent me an article on why it needs to be changed because of a case in which a child was shocked and died due to broken pool light. Thank you so much Phillip. Appreciate you so much! read more

Great guy, I called with a problem with my pump and told him what I tried. Rather then schedule an appointment and charge me some money, he gave me some simple things to try first. I love companies that treat you like a friend, not like a pile of money. I called someone else before this, told him the same story and he quickly scheduled an appointment and took my credit card to hold my appointment time. I thought I'd try Phillip to see if he could come out sooner and I received something even better. If the simple tricks don't work out, Phillip will be getting my business. read more

I was very impressed with Phill. My spa would not hear up. He first gave me a few suggestions over the phone that I tried. When he came out, he was very methodical when trying to address the issue. It was the heater. He also looked at the power hook up and found that my GFI switch was not working, which is not a good thing for the spa. Now, all is working great! Phill is very professional...a quality that I like. He gave me lots of great tips on keeping the spa clean and healthy. I would totally recommend him to my friends and everyone. Great job, Phill read more

If you want to maintain your precious and much desired pool or pool/spa, hire Phillip Miller, sole owner and employee of A + Pool and Spa Service. He gives one on one Pool Maintenance. He concentrates on maintaining each pool and its equipment to 100% levels. He does not hire a maintenance crew to serve 150-200 Pools per week. He knows everything about your pool, your pool water, and your pool equipment. His priority is his customer. He is knowledgeable beyond words. He has been a miracle in my life. My brand new pool/spa was not maintained correctly. Maintaining the pool balance is incredibly important. The testing of the pool water gives a clue to something going wrong or balancing just fine. A little too much chlorine and salt output can ruin your water, your pool, and all your equipment. This is exactly what happened to me. Phillip knew as soon as he walked into my backyard. My blue pool water was green. My pool sweeper was filled inside and outside with corrosion. Phill took apart my equipment to reveal corrosion throughout all the equipment. My maintenance service had not even fulfilled the top level of service for which I was paying. My inner and outer cartridges of the filter pump had never been cleaned and were green and thick. The cell of my Intellichlor had never been soaked. The output of the Intellichlor was far too high for the small size of my covered pool. The filter schedule had been set for too many hours. I have learned so much from Phill. The size of your pool is important to balance of chemicals. The same goes if you have a covered pool. Phill supported me throughout this property damage. Everything would need to be disclosed at the sale of my house. Do you want to pay a little more and get the best service in town? If you do, you will never regret your decision. The best is Phill, one person, one company. Do not be taken in by a company with a crew of inexperienced just accredited maintenance people. Do not be taken in by a company who says the boss oversees the crew. You will never see the boss again and you will see many different crew members even in just one year. Do not be taken in by the builder of your pool which also maintains a crew for maintenance. Think about that company. Their first priority is profit. More profit comes from building pools. Phill cares about your big investment and you will thank him over and over for his magic touch. He will care for your investment with care, intelligence, and truth read more

We have used this pool service for over a year now. We were new pool owners when we began using this pool service. Phillip has shown up every week, leaves us with a communication report telling us what work was performed and provides us with any suggestions or advice that we may need to be aware of concerning pool maintenance. The price is reasonable and he has always been professional in his business dealings. I would highly recommend this pool service. read more

I normally maintain my pool myself but recently ran into an issue that was over my head. it involved an air leak in my plumbing which prevents my pump from fully priming and therefore, my filtration system is not operating the way it should. i saw the reviews for this company and decided to contact them. Phillip got back to me later the same day and set up an appt for early the next week. He was running a little late, but called me ahead of time to let me know. when he showed up he was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. he spent 2 hours troubleshooting my problem and could not find the source of the air leak above ground. he recommended a company that detects underground leaks and said to have them check for it. he said if it turned out to be something he could fix he would take care of it. he also said since the problem just surfaced, i should just monitor it for a week or two to see if anything gets better or worse. i really liked his troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. instead of just trying to fix something that might make things worse, (my pool is 40 yrs old), and knowing the chances of success are slim he gave me a practical and honest assessment of my options. he also answered all of my questions regarding general pool maintenance so i learned a lot from him during the time he was here, bottom line, i am taking his suggestion and will monitor my problem and then contact the leak detection company if nothing changes. from my initial experience with Phillip, i would certainly say he is honest, fair and the exception when it comes to dealing with service repair persons. read more

Had heard about this company through a friend, and called about a leakage issue. From pictures we had taken, he was able to diagnose over the phone and immediately reassured us that it was an easy and inexpensive fix. Really? Not sure I have ever before heard that from a repairman. Better yet, he spoke the truth. After letting me know that the part had been ordered, he followed up again the next week, letting me know it had come in, and finding a good time to make the repair. Hot tub now filled once again, and as promised, an inexpensive fix. Yayyy!! Others could have easily told me differently and I would have gone along, just to get my hot tub filled and working again. Honest, cool guy with great communication skills; propelled me to make my first Yelp review! read more

Phil came to my home today and gave me any in-depth lesson on how to use and maintain my hot tub. I am in my 70s and the little house that I purchased has a hot tub. I do not know the first thing about maintaining a hot tub. He was very professional, very informative, and did many extra little things that I'm sure he did not have to do or were required of his service to help me. He drained my hot tub and cleaned it, and serviced it totally. I have contracted with him to come on a weekly basis to keep up the chemicals and to check it. I am totally satisfied and would highly recommend this friendly and professional service to all. read more

I called Phil with a problem I wanted him to come and check out. He asked a few pertinent questions then made a recommendation on how I might be able to solve the problem myself. I followed his directions and sure enough the problem was solved. Excellent service and a very nice person who seems very knowledgeable. I will be having him do my weekly service. read more

After refilling my hot tub that had been empty for several months, my pump would not turn on. After doing the usual internet research I couldn't get it to work. I found Phill on Yelp and gave him a call. He answered and spent the next 15-minutes+ on the phone working me through various fix attempts. If any of them had worked he would not have made anything. Unfortunately, his fix ideas didn't work. I made an appointment to have him come out the next day. An hour before he was due to arrive he sent me a text update and then arrived right on time. To save space I will summarize by saying he fixed my problem and made other checks and repairs. Also, after looking over my chemical arsenal, Phill made several suggestions on how I could better maintain my hot tub and water. The cost for the response, repair and his many suggestions was less than I expected to pay. I highly recommend A+ Pool and Spa and definitely plan to use him in the future. Thank you, Phill! read more

Phillip was excellent to work with! Even before he came out to clean our spa, he was very quick with answering my initial questions about what our spa needed--he responded immediately to each message, and in fact, saved us money by recommending we test and make sure the spa heated up properly and worked first so we didn't have to pay the extra servicing costs if we didn't need to. Sure enough, it was heating up properly, so he informed us that we probably just needed a cleaning (and took off the original quoted servicing costs!). When he arrive for the cleaning, he was very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. We had Phillip come out to clean our spa, which had not been cleaned or used ever since we recently moved in. He thoughtfully and thoroughly did a visual inspection and pointed out things to keep in mind for maintaining and using the spa responsibly. He then proceeded to clean our spa cover, the spa itself, the underside of the spa (near the filter and heating unit), and around the spa. The spa looked so much better, and very clean! He then patiently went over how to test the water, maintaining proper water PH and alkalinity balance, and other maintenance instructions. He was easy to talk with and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend him for similar types of jobs. Thanks again Phillip! read more
