Sending PCs to the Lenovo repair depot used to be reliable and fast, but is now one of the worst and longest ways of getting computers fixed. When I called Lenovo over the summer, they said I could use any authorized Lenovo service center. Lucky for me, there are a few within a few miles from me and even luckier, I found A&A. They were professional, understood my needs and had my laptop repaired within a couple of weeks, as promised. As an out-of-warranty repair, I felt the cost was comparable to what Lenovo charges. I took a certification here recently, and it was a highly positive experience. This is a small business, not a large test center. The Indian gentleman at the front desk couldn't have been kinder or more competent in a quiet and completely natural way -- extraordinarily helpful since I was pretty stressed between the holidays and the exam. He also took a much nicer photo of me than any driver's license, passport, or corporate ID I've ever had -- a pity he doesn't give classes! Parking was ample, and my GPS led me to the right location (1600 Wyatt Dr.) without any detours or confusion. Suite #3 is near the front right corner as you pull into the parking lot. I saw 2 little testing rooms, each for 3-4 people. The rooms are not completely silent; you can hear people outside in the kitchen area. I don't mind a little noise, but if that would bother you, consider bringing earplugs. However, I did them to be overly generous with their heating. So consider layers, to avoid being uncomfortable for the length of your exam. There may be different rules for different exams, but for my particular certification, no phone, watches, wallets, or even water bottle is permitted inside the exam room. You either leave that stuff in your car, or with the front desk. They kept my phone and IDs in a little plastic pencil pouch; I held on to my car keys. There is a water cooler right outside the exam rooms. You can use the little Dixie cups, or leave a bottle of water on the cooler. The restroom is also right there, so a very reassuring setup for a test taker. Even though this isn't the closest test center to me, if I have to take another certification, I would strongly consider returning! read more

Review for A&A the testing center, not the computer repair! Strange, I know haha In looking for Pearson test centers near me, I somehow ended up signing up for my test here. A& A is located in a business park next to a newly-constructed plaza with a convenient Starbucks. My experience was not horrible (as old Yelp reviews had me fear) and also not stellar (as most recent reviews suggested). Front desk staff were pleasant, computer screen was uncomfortably wide, temperature of the room was okay and there was some background noise but not distractingly so. Came in to get my laptop screen replaced (Lenovo Carbon x1 Gen 9) I needed it done ASAP because I travel for work a lot and they were able to find the replacement part but it wasn't in my price range. They were able to call around and find the part at a cheaper cost and had the laptop ready for me in 2 days. Diagnosis and labor charge was also fair. I appreciate the fast turn around time and the effort in finding a cheaper part in a short turn around time. Will come here again if I ever need assistance with my laptops/desktops. read more

Amazing service center for Lenovo products. I brought in 2 X1 Carbons for repair for our company. Needless to say, it was a very smooth process. Dropped off my laptops, wrote down my contact info and went back to work. I got a call a week later letting me know that both machines had been repaired. And they were fully working without a single cent paid. Obviously our laptops have Lenovo's depot warranty, but the folks at A&A were helpful, spot on with service and repairs and even told me they are authorized resellers. This review is for my cert exam experiences at this facility only. I've taken 3 cert exams here over the year, and the process has mostly been straight-forward and quick. Except, last time this younger sassy lady had me resigned my name 3 times because it needed to match EXACTLY the one on my DL - one I came up with when I WAS 16. Despite my debit card showing the updated sig. (which isn't drastically different to begin with). She was annoyed I can tell. I supposed I wouldn't have a problem had she been nicer about it. Anyway, that isn't what prompted me to write this review. I'm writing this because I wanted to say thanks to the older gentleman who picked up my phone call this morning. He basically saved my day. I had an exam scheduled at 9.15 AM today, so I left home in Milpitas around 8.30 thinking that'd be ample of time for what normally a 15 min commute. NOPE - I was so wrong. Montague Expwy was absolutely disastrous today; bumper-to-bumper barely moving as the clock ticking closer to my schedule time. I was super stressed out since if you're later than 15 minutes they can forfeit your exam with no refund. So I called them and explained the situation; ready to beg. The gentleman on the other line cut me off, "Do not rush. I understand the terrible Monday traffic. Drive safe and we'll see you when you get here" - in the most comforting and peaceful voice ever that I thought it was the great Ghandi himself speaking to me. I made it there exactly 15 minutes late. I still failed my test though, but he made my day. Perhaps next time he can channel his inner Rocky and give me a quick motivational speech then maybe I'll pass. Until next time. A & A is definitely a solid A in my book. read more

This place is pretty useful. they are the only local place that fixes ibm laptops under company warranty, and for some reason, my co-workers have been having bad luck with their thinkpads. did you know that replacing the screen on those things is fricken $500! and thats for the generic screen. yeesh. if you have 2 year olds, keep them and their projectile sippy-cups away from your laptop. it smells like baby powder in here, which is a little creepy, since that automatically makes me think of dirty old men. but the guys who work here are super helpful. if your laptop is under warranty, theyll fix it up for free and have you on your merry little way quick as can be. they also host testing for networking and computing certifications. read more

In this consumer driven economy use and throw is the name of the game. And a visit to this service center which is a recognized by the manufacturer just confirms this. They are rude and unprofessional. And when you are at their mercy they think they can do pretty much anything. They quoted a higher price when I went to pick my laptop and not only that, the service person suggested a multitude of replacements with a threat that if they are not replaced the laptop may not function properly. Well the truth is if i did replace whatever they asked me to, the cost might be more than a brand new laptop. What choice do I have. In the end, I paid the price for my repair without any additional ones only to come home and realize the Bios battery was gone and had to be replaced. I just don't want to spend on any more repairs. I will wait till I can save and buy a new laptop. Horrible experience! read more

I went there to replace a broken USB on my Thinkpad L512. It was still under warranty, and it did get fixed for free ... thus the 2 stars Pros: 1- Very nice people, easy to talk to and understand the problem pretty well 2- They get things fixed properly Cons: 1- They do not communicate with you properly regarding when to expect your laptop to be fixed 2- Upon receiving the laptop, multiple screws were not properly placed into there place. The outer shell was not securely and correctly put into place! 3- One of the screw holders was broken 4- Not prompt in delivering your items ... the person kept looking for my laptop for about 20 minutes in different rooms ... the reason? "I don't know where the technician placed it" ... seems like some sloppy technician if you were to ask me, especially given the mistakes I found in re-assembling the laptop! read more

I went with client Laptop as it got switched off and not getting turned on ..even after charging for some time.. as i have major work to deliver and working remotely new laptop or laptop replacement will take some time. searched for lenovo authz center and rushed to this repair center. First impression it self not felt great but i don't have option i gave it for repair. Asked me to wait for 3 hrs to say the status of Laptop. Meanwhile as i am techie guy i was googled with model and some real time problem understood laptop mechanism and i suggested some options he completely ruled out saying i am working on these laptop more than 10 yrs and its problem with mother board need to replace. As it a company laptop i decided to not to hand over to him for mother board replacement .and same time i didnt satisfied with his answers i collected laptop. But he charged 90 USD as Labour charges (not sure what he repaired) i paid and came home and googled some more blogs. Understood from blogs that its internal battery issue and suggested for overnight charging .. i left for charging over night and it worked ... Really amazed to see how these guys got authz service with out basic understanding on ..how latest models of laptop works.. Lenevo should re think on .. giving authz service to these kind of guys .. read more

Came here to repair my HP Laserjet printer, which kept jamming paper. They were on the top of the list, in the HP partner locator website. Paid $170 - the problem was not fixed. The printer keeps jamming. They charged $170 to replace the printer separation pad, a $20 item that can be replaced with two screws (I had already replaced this earlier). They did not replace the pickup roller (which is usually recommended to be replaced along with the separation pad). In short - I got ripped off read more

I had a terrible experience with this place. In short, I brought my laptop to them to repair it, but when they returned it to me, they returned it with some parts missing. They refused to apologize and claimed that it was like that. Here's details of what happened. I brought my broken laptop to get it repaired and first asked for a free quote. A day after, I got a phone call saying the quote is $700 and I asked if they figured out what is the problem and what need to be replaced. I'm surprised at their answer, which was they don't know what to replace, but they just know that it is not covered under warranty. They said they might need to replace this and that but in total it's $700. So I went to Fry's (which is not the usual place for me to get laptops fixed) and their quote on the worst case scenario was $250 cheaper than A&A's (of course they said it can be cheaper, but I asked for maximum cost) I called them that I don't want it fixed there and get it ready (assemble it back) and I got it back and brought it to Fry's. There with the technician I found that the laptop missed a few screws (not one or two of them, but 7 of them were missing!!!) I called them that they forgot to get screws back and the first answer I heard was "No, we didn't miss any screws" without checking it with the technician who worked on it. I brought it over and showed it to the one who originally took the laptop and then he said he'll check it with the technician. After half an hour(!) he came back and said the laptop was already missing those screws when they took it, but they could find some screws and put it there (in a kind of attitude that they're doing favor to me) This time, I was REALLY upset, and told him this is just a year-old laptop, and if it really had that problem, he would have wrote that down when he was taking it (he examined it before he took it and brought it to a technician) His attitude was like 'now the screws are there' (and what's the problem) I was really mad, but didn't see any reason to argue with that idiot, so I just left. I am glad that I did not let them fix my laptop - for someone who misses screws would easily miss other important parts, right? I would NEVER do any business with them again. I even think that all the certificates that they have in their lobby are just something they 'bought' from companies. In summary, here's the things that they did wrong: 1. They gave me a quote without knowing what parts to replace. 2. They return the laptop with 7 missing screws. 3. When I informed that over a phone, the one who receives the phone call (not a technician) refused that it misses screws without discussing it with technician 4. When I finally brought it to them again, they LIED that the laptop originally was without screws. 5. They refused to apologize it. My advice is just don't do any business with them. If you have to, check machines carefully before you give the machines to them, and after you get them back. read more

DO NOT TAKE A TEST HERE!!!! I literally went to the bathroom, and they closed my test down and got me to fail. They claim that I was suppose to inform them that I went to the bathroom. One problem. There was no one at the desk to inform. And since the bathroom is next to the front desk, if they actually manned it, they would have seen me go in. It's not that hard, since there was a grand total of 2 people taking a test in the whole place. However, the last time I took a test there, they just said walk to the bathroom. So, I did exactly what they told me to do from last time. They screwed up, they knew it, and then they tried to blame it on me. I filed the appropriate complaint to Prometric, and we'll see what they do. I doubt they'll do anything, so I can only warn you to avoid this place like the plague. This is an place that seems to be run by a husband and wife team with no professionalism. You can tell cause they had their daughter sitting in near the door cause they couldn't afford a babysitter. This place is horrible, the machines are low quality, the keyboards are stained, and I can only advise that no one to take a test here. Do yourself a favor and go to a real test center where they know what they are doing. I made the mistake of going to a place close by with plenty of openings. Well, there was a reason for all those openings. tl;dr: Cancelled (and failed) my tests because they didn't man their desk. read more

This is a Wonderful computer store! I can not say enough good things about Ashwin who helped us today. We brought my son's Lenovo computer during evening rush hour and the traffic was so bad we got there after the store was closed. NEVER TAKE YOUR TEST HERE!!! First the lady on the front desk is NOT at all courteous..she might be the owner of the place but she needs to learn basic etiquette... Seriously guys I have been to almost all the test centers in Santa Clara but this one totally s**ks. I was taking test here and the disturbance level( people coming in-out of exam hall , domestic staff cleaning desks & PCs) was enough to distract me. Anyways with all the glitches around I was able to knock the exam out and did celebrate my success with champagne in the evening ;) I know one works really hard to prepare for cert. exams and we shd not let clowns @ A&A ruin it, so please do yourself a favor and schedule exams @ other centers which deliver far more professional and courteous behavior. I had my Thinkpad W540 repaired here recently and the experience was pretty good. The fan of the laptop was broken and sounded like a tractor. The laptop was still under warranty and A&A is a certified Lenovo warranty provider so I brought it to them on Thursday afternoon around 3:00pm. They said it should be fixed pretty soon. On Friday morning, within 24 hrs the fix was done. I picked up the laptop, had a brief check and everything looked fine. However, when I was back to home I noticed that one keyboard screw was not back to the proper place and got stuck under the "enter" key (so I cannot press the enter key). I used a tweezer to take the screw out from the bottom of the enter key and put it back to the correct place. Even though the fix was not prefect, it was still very good in this short amount of time. Hope A & A can be more careful about the screw issues (like in other reviews) and it will be 5 stars. read more

A tip of the HAT to the service guys at A&A Computers. I've now used them over the last couple of years fixing problems on two different high end HP Laptop computers under warrantee. I do technical sales of noise and vibration instrumentation so I use my laptop all the time and can't really work without it. A&A is very good at scheduling a time when you can bring your computer in so they can either diagnose or fix the problem in a short period of time. In many cases I would drop my machine of in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. The most recent repair was repacing my display on a 6 month old HP Elitebook 8530W. A&A talked to HP support to get the "right" part number for the display. This laptop was one i configured using the HP Store via the internet... so this turned out to be a custom configuration. The first display A&A received was not correct and after two more tries with wrong displays and hinges the service tech at A&A had the idea of using the hinges from the broken display with one of the other displays that had different sized hinges. This did the trick. The point here is that A&A put a lot of time into coming up with a solution without being paid a cent for it. My whole repair was covered under the HP warrantee. The next time I need a computer whether it be a brand name or pieced together one I will be going to A&A Computer... thanks to them for a job well done! read more

They are a small team but they are extremely talented and dedicated to their customers. My recent personal experience follows. My machine broke down one Friday afternoon (3pm) while I was working on a project submission which was due two days later, on Monday morning. Video output was fading away and my disk drive was not cooperative! I called A&A for help and they asked me to bring the machine over. I delivered my machine to them after 5pm that Friday. They saw that I was extremely stressed -- they told me that they will try to do their best and get back to me. They called me next day (Saturday) morning to pick up my machine. It had a new screen, new drive, and get this: all my data was transferred so I could continue right where I had been interrupted!!! How many vendors today take ownership of your problem? Most people do not want to be disturbed after 5pm on Friday -- let alone work late night on Friday and Saturday. A&A Computers stood by my side when I was facing a serious deadline. I will always continue to do business with them. I strongly recommend A&A and encourage you to check them out yourself. You will not be disappointed. read more

Been going there for IBM type computer support for 10- 15 years. I've also bought several clones. Problems are always handled professionally , courteously. This is not warranty work. Charges are reasonable. If its a machine built by them, warranty is pretty much the life of the machine. Of course things become outdated or wear out, i.e. hard drives, OS, and new parts must be bought. Its unusual to see a local computer shop in existence for as long as these guys have been around. That speaks volumes for how well they do. read more

I came here to take a 3 hour Harvard Business School CORe final exam and it was an excellent location. The facility is very clean, and everyone who helped with the test was efficient, calm, and capable which really helped on a day where I was nervous about passing. The Pearson VUE room has 4 terminals, is bright and clean, and when I needed to take a break, the bathroom was right outside the door. This is especially helpful for tests where the timer doesn't stop while you're taking a break. I took my GRE in a dark, loud testing facility, so this was a very nice change. The ambiance was one of of hospitable professionalism, and I'd take a test here again. read more

The store super suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks. I went to the store to repair my computer. I wanted them to check whether there was some problem with the hard drive, and told him if they need to transfer, please call me. While the workers there directly transferred the data. Ironically, they failed to transfer the data on my system partition. They called me that they could not transfer my needed data. Then, I went to their store, and I transferred my data myself. Finally, I spent 3 hours to fix the problem my self. However, the workers still charged me 95 bucks, the whole price. I explained to them that they did not solve my problem, while they were very impolite. They told me that I could not take away my computer if I did not pay them 95 dollars. The did not care about me at all, and it is very a horrible experience. I finally pay for them 95 bucks and took away my laptop as I had no time to waste. I will never recommend you repair your computer there. Please trust me. read more

I recently brought my Lenovo T61 laptop computer to them for repair. When I walked in the door, the place didn't look like much. It was a small front office, and no receptionist. But this first impression changed dramatically as I explained the problem. The person I dealt with was knowledgeable, got to the point right away, and was very helpful. I just had to fill out a short form indicating that I left them with my laptop and gave them the authorization, and left with the assurance that the laptop would be repaired in about 3~4 days. And sure enough, in 4 days they called me and told me that they replaced the system board on my laptop and I was good to go. I picked it up, and everything was ship shape. This place does good work, has knowledgeable service people. I am taking another laptop to them for repair. Highly recommend. read more

This is a great place who fixed my Lenovo thinkpad under warranty. The mouse button is not working on my X61tablet anymore, It only takes them a morning (6-7 hours) to get it fixed. They give conservative estimation of 48 hours when I drop the laptop at their office but got the work done within a day when they have the parts in stock. Good experience.
