I had my home re keyed in January and it was a seamless experience. Very easy to make an appointment, the locksmith John called about 30 min before arriving at my home and got the job done quickly. I wish I would have written a review then but to be honest time slipped away from me. This week I called A-Abbot to make an appointment because my front door wasn't locking properly/ jammed. I was able to book an appointment for the next day and to my surprise John was assigned to my home again. He called ahead to let me know when he would be arriving. After assessing the lock he explained that a piece needed to be replaced and let me know he had what was needed in his truck. He answered all questions and was quick and efficient! Maaaaybe sometimes they don't have the best bedside manner, so if that kind of straightforwardness affects you, don't take it personally. Keys are no longer $5 to cut and now they can range into the hundreds x 2. So I needed an extra key and remote for my car. Walked into the shop (wall filled with various car remotes and automotive keys). Young man greeted me and said to take a seat and he'd have to find the matching key and remote. Couple minutes later he said bring you car to the back and I'll get youe brand new remote programmed and key cut. One has to have a programmer placed into the OBD port to program the remote fob. 15 minutes later all was done. $10 for the Key, $100 for the remote FOB. That's considerably better than the $175 i heard for the other gentleman who has a chip in the key, yikes! Need a key and/or a fob(programmed and synced) for your car? I first came more then two years ago for my alarm remote for my tundra. My sis works for Toyota and her price was 220 abbot was able to make it for 125. Great prices with the exact same product. I have gone for any issue with locks since my most recent was a key for my weather guard tool box on my truck. Best prices and services I got there right before they were closing and they got it done. First guy (dont know his name) was having a little trouble getting it to work, but then cam Mr. Thrope ( I call him the Key Master) came and got it right free hand on his first try. I've been flying without a parachute for about two years now. I lost the spare key to my car around the time I moved to Orange County, and getting the replacement has been on my to-do list ever since then (when the Toyota dealership wants to charge you $250, it's kind of easy to put it off). With some fancy footwork I was able to get a legit key blank off the internet for about $60, but the next step was finding someone who could program it. After seeing Stephan Y's review for this place, I figured I'd give it a shot. One phone call confirmed the price to cut & program the key ($84), that it would take about an hour, and I was on my way. I'd been told that although it's not required to make appointments here, earlier in the day is better if you need to be in and out quickly. I arrived a little after 2:00 and had the misfortune to come when they happened to be short-handed. It ended up taking about 2 hours to do the job, which I passed by wandering in the surrounding shopping complexes (bonus: there's a Touch of Romance around the corner if you're looking for something exciting!). When I told them I'd be wandering around, I got no less than 3 suggestions for places to eat by both the staff and other customers in the shop. :) Aside from the longer wait, everything about my experience here was painless. A customer even came in saying that Home Depot had referred him there because A-Abbot would be able to do a job they weren't. Great family business, and exactly the kind of place I needed! read more

This place is awesome. I went in the other day with my wife to get a spare key for my Ford Excursion. The dealer wants over $100. A kiosk in the middle of a parking lot with workers who barely speak English wanted $80, and they couldn't even do it the same day because they had to "order something". I walk in to this place and was greeted by Denis. Let me just say that Denis is "The Man"! He was friendly, fast, and efficient. He tells me the cost will be $70 for the spare key, and says he can have it done in less than 5 minutes! While he is making our spare key, I ask him about alarm systems and tell him that I think my Excursion has an alarm system but I don't know how to use it or activate it because we bought it used and it didn't come with a remote. He finished making our spare key and went to check out the alarm issue. Within 5 minutes he figured out what was wrong and programmed a new remote which only cost $35(including programming)!!!!! Seriously, do not believe the people that are saying this place is good but expensive. It's fantastic and its very reasonably priced! Service and value are unbeatable! The folks that are saying this place is expensive probably just don't have experience with this sort of thing. On a side note, I have met the owner, and he is a pretty cool dude. The guys are great. I needed a key fob programmed and cut. I called Toyota of Orange and they said it would be over $400 with the fob and cut and programmed. Talk about highway robbery! I did a google search for local locksmiths (in Orange, CA) and found these guys which were very close to me. I called to get a quote and they said it would be $52 to cut and program it. About a week after that call (today) since I was worked and finally got a weekday off, I showed up around 1pm. I asked if they were able to program a key fob that I purchased online. One of the guys took at it and said sure. He asked me if I had more keys and suggested he cut it from the spare key or the key that's used less since it would have less wear on it (brilliant idea by the way). He cut the key and met me around the back. They used some sort of electronic device that connects to car's computer and enter codes and stuff. They got everything done after some doing. The gentleman that helped me was nice unfortunately I never asked his name. After about an hour thety got it working good as new. I went inside to pay and he said that's $52. Talk about honestly. Remember we never talked about price and they just did the job. $52 was the same price quoted a week ago when I called. There is no way for them to know who I was which tells me that they have a fixed price. They could have charged me any amount and I wouldn't have known any better if I hadn't gotten a price a week earlier over the phone. I was actually afraid they were going to charge me more since they took longer then they expected since my 2007 Toyota Camry Le 4cyl was difficult to work with meaning it didn't want to cooperate as much lol. Great job guys! You have a customer for life. Will recommend to everyone to...Oscar Some suggestions: introduce yourself so we know the guy that will deliver the great service and maybe give an estimate of cost before the work is done that way a person won't be surprised at the end. I got an old van that had a jammed lock on the slider. I took it to abbot and they hooked me up with Jim, who they said was the go to guy for older cars. Jim said I'd have to take part of the door apart to get the lock out, and he recommended I do it instead of them to save me money, which I appreciated. So there were a few steps to this and he kindly encouraged me when I got stuck, joking all along...divinely. Anyway I got the lock out and he took it from there and rebuilt it and made me a set of new keys that open the lock perfectly. No shimmying, just a reflection of will. I was on my way in less than an hour and paid an extremely fair price. Jim joked about the bill and threw out a high number at first just to get my goat. Beautiful thing was, is the number he said was the exact price of a piece of land that i am buying! Wow! what a great experience, not only did I get my lock fixed, but I got a soul tune-up also.
