This place saved the day! I was shopping at ACR right across the street, and when I came back to my car, I noticed my back left tire was totally flat. Filled with dread, I figured I would have to leave my truck bed full of art supplies in the lot overnight, take an uber home, and maybe tow my truck somewhere the next day?! I was SO lucky to realize that A-1 was close enough for me to slowly roll over to, right before closing time. When I got there, they were gracious, helpful, and friendly, and even stayed open a little late to patch my tire. (Actually, TWO tires - they noticed that I had picked up nails/screws in the front right as well.) It only took a few minutes and it was about $35 - a great value, and SUCH a relief compared to my worst case scenario. I am forever grateful! read more

For some unknown reason, I keep getting nails in my tires. Why are nails just lying all over the road??? I digress. Anywho, so as I've mentioned I had a nail in my tire. at first I was going to go to discount tire but after a little bit of research I came upon A-1. They didn't have a website I could visit but after reading all the reviews about how good their prices are and now fast and honest and nice these people were, I gave them a call and asked for a quote on a patch and a new (used) tire. The price they quoted me on for getting another tire installed on the off chance the patch wasn't fixable, with labor included and all was the same price discount or another tire shop would have charged me JUST for a tire alone without labor etc. so right then and there, I understood why people mentioned affordability and great prices. So I decided to cancel my appointment with discount tires and go to A-1 instead. I got there around 5, in the middle of rush hour. The place right off the side of the I-35 frontage road so be sure to slow down when you're looking for it so you don't peel in last second. It's a very no-frills type of mechanic shop. It's what you think of when someone says the word "mechanic". Not like those other car repair shops with the huge waiting room and snack machines or a large flat screen TV... yeah no, this place was super straight forward. Very small lobby, 4 chairs placed along the wall in front of the front desk, right next to an open door that leads into the garage. So if you're looking for some hoidy-toidy mechanic place, this ain't it.i I honestly didn't care, as long as my car got fixed, the price was right, and the service was friendly. There was a small wait because they were working on 2 other cars when I got there, and they only have 2 spaces in their mechanic garage. I only waited like 15-20 min and then my car was ready to be worked on. Man those guys were fast, I swear they got that tire on my car in like 15 min or less. Other places I've gone to have taken 30-45 min. But A-1 is on top of their game. I believe the guy I talked to name was Lo Lo. Really nice guy. The place seems like a husband and wife and friend run deal. One of the guys wife checked me out, she was nice. I asked her if the price I was quoted is still what I was paying and he said yes. She told me it was actually slightly cheaper if I didn't want the warranty, but the warranty was only $5 more so I thought why not?? There is literally always something happening to my freaking tires, soooo it's a good investment. At the end, for a tire and labor, fees, and warranty, etc... I paid $60 for everything out the door. Had I only needed a patch, that would have been $15. The parking situation is little to none so you just pull in and hope to find a spot along the side, or just pull over to the side until they can see you. They're open later than the other mechanic shops I've been to as well, so that's another plus! All in all, it was a stress free experience, affordable, and fast, and I will return in the future for my tire needs. :) read more

Do not come to this place. It definitely sucks, if you come an hour before before someone that's Paying more than you are they'll pass that person before you. If you are getting a patch they won't give a damn about because they know you aren't spending that much so be aware of this place. It's very incredible. When I first came they said you going after this car an hour later the dude came to me and told me that the other 3 cars that came after me are going first because they are getting bigger work and I was just getting a patch. I'm glad I didn't get the work done there. If could do zero star I would Edgar's tires shop it's the best in Austin Texas just 5 mins from this Assh*** and wayyyyy better services I waited no mins and they fix my problem in 10 mins read more

They messed up my rims while putting the tires on. That wasn't even the worst part. They didn't put the tire on properly and it caused it to blow out. It caused me a lot of trouble and now I will have to take them to court because they don't want to do anything. read more

BEWARE! DON'T GET TIRES FROM THEM. They will give you one price over the phone and another one when you get there. They will tell you that someone else put a down payment on the tire you inquired about and the only way to get the tire is paying more for it (outbid). What kind of business is that? They are ripping off two people. My son called 30 mins ahead, was told it would be $60 out the door, got there and charged him $80. Same BS excuse...."tire had a down payment on it already" ....he had to outbid...shame on A-1 TIRES. read more

UPDATE: I'm updating my review for A-1 Tires because I'm confused on why the owner (Lolo G.) of A-1 Tires felt the need to leave me a comment on my previous review AFTER I had already spoke to his wife about the situation & she did NOT give me safety tire 101 & the people who do NEED to be re educated in safety are the technicians at A-1 Tires as well as customer service satisfaction. What I left out in my previous review was that one of the Technicians from A-1 Tires put on a tire that was dry rotted & my husband asked the technician why would they put a tire on the car knowing that was dry rotted & he wanted it to be replaced because that's not what he paid for & yes, the tires are used BUT that doesn't mean just sell your customers tires that are no good & my husband was also taking the car to be inspected & your car needs good & safe tires to pass inspection but the technician didn't want to change out the dry rotted tire & replace it w/ a good tire because god forbid he has to do actual work & actually told my husband "take the car to get inspected & if it doesn't pass then bring it back & we will then replace the tire" ..like really! At one point in this conversation between the technician & my husband the technician is so upset because my husband was not leaving w/out getting his tires changed out for tires that were not dry rotted, wrong size and 3 different tire treads tells my husband he would have charged my husband MORE for the tires if the owners we not there... I mean that in itself is crazy & for that A-1 Tire Technician to say that to my husband means this is a practice he most likely does when the owners are not around. I also didn't put in my previous review that my husband went to A-1 Tires 4 TIMES before the issue was corrected!! You see I didn't put this additional info in my previous review because I put what was most important previously..which is BEWARE if you decide to do business with A-1 Tires. Lastly, I have to say I'm SO disappointed with the message that the owner Lolo left me because his message tells me that he is NOT open to constructive feedback & I did let his wife Brenda know ALL of the issues & the interaction that my husband had w/ their technician when we spoke on the phone but obviously that feedback fell onto deaf ears. So to sum it up A-1 Tires has lost a customer & A-1 Tires neighboring competitor has gained one. ***************************************************** BEWARE!! A-1 Tires will try to get over on you so don't let them talk you into getting something you don't want!! This place did an awesome job! I had a nail in my tire, and I was on a bit of a time crunch to get it repaired (I've had a blowout before so I'm a little paranoid and want them fixed ASAP) so I looked up tire places near me, this was the closest and I saw its 4.5 star rating and read 2 reviews and just gave it a shot. I already knew I had a nail and in which tire, but I'm always a little uncomfortable taking my car in because it's obvious I know nothing about cars and feel like they'll try and take advantage of me to spend more. Not here! In total I was there about 20 minutes if that, and I got there at 3-4 pm. It was $20 for the patch and he included a warranty, but said I shouldn't need it because he did an awesome job on my tire. Fast, friendly, and definitely affordable. I took my car to get a tired patched. They had all kinds of trouble taking the tire off. Like they had never done a 19" wheel before. They scratched my custom rim in 5 different spots and all they could say was that the machine did it and pointed at a sign they have that says "Not responsibility for damages." They must really not know how to do their job if they have to have a sign that says that. I will never be back to this shop. Very rude and irresponsible. They threatened to call the cops on me. Very unprofessional. Now a $20 dollar patch cost me an extra $200 to repair my rim. This place sucks. read more

After eight days in Austin dog-sitting I hit a curb trying to avoid a racing airport shuttle and put a hole in my right rear tire sidewall. This happened on Saturday nite, and one of our party was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday in a city 400 miles away. Have you ever tried to find a tire shop open on Sunday? Me neither! I went to A1 after driving nearly four months on a donut spare (I know what you're thinking, this guy is a revolutionary) after blowing out one of my tires hitting a curb. Decided to go the used tire route and found A1 after searching for a used tire shop near me. The service was pretty awesome and they had me in and out in under ten minutes. $41 for a lightly used tire, to which I can't complain about pricing with a deal like that. I've seen some cheaper, but the fact that A1 is right off I-35 and is close to me is what sealed the deal. My only real complaint is that the guy who installed my tire proceeded to tell me how the car I drive is a 'piece of crap' and that I 'got ripped off' for it. Not only rude things to tell someone, but when I explained that it's my first car he went on to tell me how /his/ first car was better than mine. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your job is to install tires and take care of your customer, not insult them. This would have easily been a five-star review had I not had to deal with that. All in all, good service, decent pricing. Will I return? Depends. read more

Had a flat from a nail in my tire, went to jiffy lube, Walmart, etc but it seemed like they didn't want to fix it as it was a quick fix. Called A-1 Tires about it said to drive in, we did. Great prices. Got a spare tire here. They are Fast. Not the fanciest place, but they get the job done and let you pick from hundreds of tires from their HUGE selection. I had a blow out and went to get my tire at this little tire shop off 1-35. I went here because my boyfriend had gone a couple months before to get a couple tires and they were very affordable. I drive a 4 wheel drive Jeep and my tires are always $100+ . I paid almost half that amount at A 1. They were friendly, fast and affordable. The waiting room was a bit warm but I don't need any silly frills that will raise prices. I was in and out within 30 mins. However, I took 1 star away because of one of the guy's working in the garage. He was an ass to say the least and actually raised his voice with me at one point. He told me he would give me a part I needed for free so long as I tipped him. Likewise, he told me they wouldn't be able to recycle my tire for me.
