Because of our home's location, field mice are expected, but they began entering our home in significant numbers. We used traps and disposed of them ourselves but wanted a professional solution. Before signing a one-year contract with Brody, I explicitly asked whether I could cancel within the first year if the issue continued. Their answer was "yes". After signing, the representative told me that "mice communicate with each other," implying they learn trap locations and warn others. My husband, who grew up in the country, immediately dismissed this as nonsense. I told her I did not sign a one-year contract to be told the only solution was moving traps around. Their first service confirmed my concern: they simply took my traps, moved them around, and placed a few of their own--sometimes directly next to mine. They did not treat the issue, did not seal entry points, and did not provide any professional intervention beyond what we were already doing ourselves. Meanwhile, mice continued entering under the garage door, which Brody claimed they would a replace a liner that should resolve it. Later, they said the part was on backorder. It never arrived. They should have disclosed upfront that: * They planned to rely on trap moving rather than actual treatment. * The garage door guard was unavailable. * They could not realistically prevent mice from entering given our location. * A one-year contract would not add value. Instead, I was misled into a contract that provided no meaningful service. I canceled because they were dishonest, ineffective, and did nothing beyond what we were already doing. Canceling was not an attempt to cause trouble, it was a response to poor service and there was no intent of a bad review as I believe businesses make errors however... Fast forward to today: we have an annual ant issue and wanted a one-time treatment. This is a bit different than a mouse concern and more likely to have an effective solution. I called Brody for a quote (along with a few other pest control businesses), explained that the mouse service had not worked out, and after being placed on hold was told I am banned from receiving Brody services because I canceled a contract early--despite being told I could. I never spoke badly about Brody and even sent them a customer who I will now be sharing this experience with. This is unprofessional, retaliatory, and a clear warning to others to not sign a contract with Brody unless you receive a written guarantee that their services will fully resolve your issue and that you will not be banned if you have sufficient reason to cancel. I was kind, understanding and I also failed to mention, they had a billing concern too, so they had to apply the overcharge to a future visit, but what if I had not caught that overcharge? I was not going to give this review until the representative on the phone told me good luck in the future in a condescending tone when all I asked was for her to pass along my feedback. So this should better get their attention. They were dishonest, ineffective, and punitive when held accountable. I'm no longer able to support this business.

Be sure to read carefully what they provide in writing because it will not be what they told you verbally. They will quote you an initial price and then change the price to double the quote. I have reported them to the Maryland State Department of Licensing and Labor for Fraudulent Business Practices. And am in the process of filing a complaint with the better business bureau. We had a verbal agrement for $125 inspection charge which would be applied to the initial treatment if they did the treatment at the same time. I agreed to the initial treatment for $175 and then a quarterly charge of $125 for regular maintenance. But then they gave me a bill for $300 for 2 services in 7 days. And they refused to do a 1 time service $175. They wasted my time. And my tenant's time. And refused to honor our verbal agreement for the $175 treatment after wasting hours of my time. I have already disputed the charge on my credit card. But please be warned... they will charge your card even if they don't actually do the services.

I called to remove a hornets nest from a branch in a tree. It is a smaller tree so the nest was…read morenot terribly high up but it was built near the end of the branch not near the trunk. The company only provides the workers with extremely short folding ladders maybe 5'. They need a taller 8' or more folding ladder to properly get under the nest to spray inside as to disturb the nest as little as possible. This way they kill the queen & the majority of the hornets inside. The technician was very nice & we looked for a taller folding ladder in my garage but we did not have one. So he tried the one he had. It was too short. So he got the taller ladder that leans against the tree. While he tried it shook the branch & the hornets went crazy flying all over. Then he had to cut the branch with my cutters to get to the nest. Cutting the branch made the majority of the hornets fly out & go crazy. They were flying looking for he nest in it's original location above. He disposed of the nest while thousands of hornets still remained flying around angry. I told him a lot of people walk their dogs on the sidewalk where the nest was. So he sprayed something to get them to go away mostly. Within a couple of days the hornets were back in the same location re building the nest. I called back 4 days later & I was told it takes 3-5 days for them to go & they won't re build without the queen. So he dismissed me & my concerns while talking down to me like I'm clueless. So I gave it a couple of more days. Then I called back & they said someone would come back. A day later on the day they were due to return the manager called to say they do not guarantee one time services. They do not tell you this when you call to schedule nor does the technician say if I disturb the hive & they come back it's on you... *but he did say they do not supply the proper ladders for the job. * So now we paid $150 to have the hornets back rebuilding in the same location. The manager on the phone did try to sell me the quarterly plan that does have a warranty. I said no thanks & hung up. I don't recommend using them to remove hornets nests as they don't actually take care of the problem & you are left to finish the job on your own.

I was fine with just feeling swindled considering the money ain't the issue it's the service provided but then SHALOM insisted to offer to refund but it was a contingency of removing my review which may explain the lack of many bad reviews. When advised I'd take the refund but my review is my experience , I will not remove it . He haggled for almost 10minute to either provide service (which I stated I clearly did not want) or refund . I prefer refund. When Shalom realized the review would not be removed , I asked about the refund prior to disconnecting and he just went quiet . This reinforces the stance that this is a billing business and not for servicing .( I do have time to continue to add as well Shalom) check out the latest reviews after this one which all came through in the last 24hrs to offset this bad review , that would be accusation (consumers can look for themselves) what i posted above is facts. & yes if you haven't realized we are going back & fourth under this review.
