I needed to change the front door lock and decided to call a locksmith to get the job done. I saw the positive reviews for this service and made an appointment with David. David showed up 15 minutes earlier than the actual appointment time. How great is that?! He changed my lock in a jiffy and I thought that was it. But no, he asked me if I needed keys made after he installed the locks. I was shocked because I was going to get some extra keys made after he leaves, but he saved me a trip and didn't charge me extra for making additional keys. Then, he tested the locks and noticed that the door was a little difficult to close. It's been that way ever since I've lived there so I didn't think it was a big deal. David looked at the door closely and pointed out why it had been that way. He proceeded to adding an extra plate on the door frame to ensure that the lock is secure in the hole on the door frame and taught me how to close the door so it would close smoothly. He refined and refined the hole in the door frame to his satisfactory. All these for the same fee he quoted me over the phone without any extra charges. After being quoted several times a minimum charge of $185 to cut a key from other locksmiths, ($250 range from dealership) A-I agreed to meet me immediately, cut my key for a negligible charge, and produced a fresh key onsite within 2 minutes. When I realized I didn't bring enough cash, he told me that was fine. I had an emergency this morning... the main entrance to our 14 unit condo building had been vandalized and the knob/lock set had been badly damaged. No one could get into the building. I didn't know how to get someone on such short notice. I searched "Locksmith Marina del Rey" and found A-1 with 5 stars on Yelp. I had to go to work, and was on a very short time line. When I called them up they said they could get to me in 15 - 20 min. Well... they did, and they changed out the lock set with an identical lock set that they had on their truck, and used the tumbler from the old lock set so I wouldn't have to have a new one made. I'm so lucky I found David! I lost my one and only smart key for my 2013 Toyota Camry. I was totally locked out. When I called the dealer I bought the car from, they told me I would have to drive over to the dealer and buy the spare key ($364 each) which they would order and would be delivered in 1-2 days and then have to have the car towed to the dealership to have it reprogrammed from scratch for new keys (an additional $400). This whole process would take a lot of time and driving back and forth to the dealer. When I called David I didn't realize he was a completely mobile service. He came and picked up the deposit and ordered the smart keys to be delivered next day. The following morning he called as soon as the keys were delivered to him and drove right over to program them. This process took him 30 minutes in total!! Because his price was so much cheaper I ordered two smart keys and still payed significantly less than the dealer quote!! He even told me about ordering refurbished keys to save me more money that had the same warranty and completely new housing which made them look like new! He was very transparent about the process which I really liked!! He had me back in my car with two smart keys in less than 24 hours!!!! With mobile service! This is a true 5 star rating. I needed to have some locks rekeyed. They gave me window, which was maybe an hour later, came and did the job and provided me with the keys needed. Points for pleasantness. Bonus points for this: a week (give or take) later I go to their physical location-which is a little outpost/stand across the street from The Grove because I realize that I need more keys. Different fellow than the one in the van, but also pleasant enough. He tells me my total, $21 and I hand him my credit card. I had paid in the first place by credit card, but, he says, they do not take credit cards at the shop. (Okay, I'll admit, a little suspect.) I have no cash. He says "That's okay.
