I am a high fan of great BBQ, the chopped pork was very good. My husband had the ribs and he said they tasted rank, he throw them away. Glad I didn't order the ribs. The potato salad was not my favorite didn't seem to have enough seasoning. The baked beans tasted like a bushes baked beans I would have preferred a more homemade taste. No, No, No.... I just was hoping for so much as it was highly recommended and was told was the best BBQ sauce having place around. Unfortunately for me I like vinegar-based barbecue sauces but I don't want it to taste straight up like barbecue. It was so pungent even after taking invite and pulling the fort for your mouth you could not taste anything and smell anything but vinegar. I believe that it left absolutely nothing to the taste to be desired. The place was also dirty and the sides were odd and not very good. The macaroni and cheese was not creamy and the hash was the oddest thing I've ever seen, not to mention just not appetizing to eyes or taste. Be sure to also avoid the lemonade is that is not freshly squeezed and stick to the ice tea. The only good thing about this place which is when I give them one star was that they had a plethora of desserts and we ordered the strawberry shortcake and pound cake. Took a bite of each and fortunately there's a thing in my fridge but they were good I believe. I just had such high hopes but I deafly will not be returning. My friend will be going alone. read more

Was expecting a great BBQ here in North Augusta because of previous reviews.... but did not meet my expectations. I had a BBQ sandwich with two sides (which they forgot one side) and my husband had the rib dinner. Both of these items were very dry. I have a swallowing problem and just about died because it was so dry in my throat! The BBQ sauce was so awful - way too much vinegar. I was introduced to BBQ Barn when I was working in Beech Island 2 years ago, and I was amazed. Over the past 2 years I've been trying BBQ just about every where I go in hopes of finding something of comparable quality, and I haven't found anything close. My favorite is by far the pulled pork. The meat is so delicious; excellent seasoning, smoky, and moist. I can just eat the meat by itself... but then I'd be missing out on the most amazing BBQ sauce! The sauce I like (Georgia Red) is a nice vinegar sauce, but also has the tomato in it (I mistakenly ordered a vinegar BBQ sauce elsewhere, and it was basically just vinegar). All the sides I've had here we're also equally great. I really miss the BBQ Barn now that I'm no longer in the area. I've seriously considered driving the 900 miles to get back to the Augusta area just to go the BBQ Barn again. If you like BBQ, you MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!! We live now in the Columbia area, but much of our work is in Aiken/North Augusta. I come from CA and later CO so I was not familiar with BBQ. They say you never forget your "first" (Artisan Bone-in BBQ) but you marry the one you love. BBQ Barn is the one. The pork has a light smoke, and delicious bark. The spicy mustard is worth it's weight in "gold". I've enjoyed the pulled pork at the storied Pink Pig in Levy/Hardeeville. The sauces there are delicious, but I there I prefer the shrimp to the pork (if you are in the area do yourself a favor and get some local, delicious, juicy, fat, perfectly fried shrimp. The hush puppies are good also but Little Pigs in Cola are the best HPs ever). We make a point to dine in on Fridays for rib day, but otherwise we take away a pound of pulled pork and a quart of hash and rice (so good). We get the spicy mustard. As I've said, I'm new to BBQ (and my 1st was vinegar from Artisan) but I'm married to spicy mustard. We usually take away because we are in N. Aug. working and it is often hard to find time for lunch. I fix it our order up at home - my collards are so much better and pulled pork sandwiches are so good with a toasted bun which BBQ barn does not do but don't hold it against them. I always toast my buns. But my point is that we usually take away and the pork is still so moist (with little bits of bark), even the next day, or the day after that, or the day after that. read more

Best BBQ I have had in the Augusta area yet. I had the sampler plate with pulled pork and ribs with hash and fries. It was awesome. The ribs were falling off the bone and juicy. The pulled pork was very tender and had a good ratio of "bark" in it. The smoke flavor was very pronounced in all the meat. The hash was delicious. My wife had the special of the day which was the half-rack with two sides. She chose the baked beans and hash/rice. She said her food was excellent. Their BBQ sauces were excellent as well but the flavor of the pork was so smoky and delicious you really do not need the sauce...the sauce is just a bonus. The restaurant itself is very clean. The bathrooms are clean and kept nice. The housekeeping is done very well. The staff are very nice and very friendly. The prices are reasonable. Considering you get large portions and the food being great, it is priced just right( my wife and I spent about 35 dollars including dessert). Speaking of desserts, I am not too much of a dessert person. However, we tried one their desserts, the girdle-buster cake. It was fantastic! I highly recommend it or any of their homemade desserts. My mother had raved about the BBQ Barn's food for years but we hadn't made it over there yet. She had some of their food at a luncheon and she loved it!!! The opportunity presented itself to us on a hot summer day to check them out. I was thoroughly pleased!!! You walk up to the counter and order your food first and take a seat and the staff will bring your order out to you. You almost get your food as soon as you sit down. Everything is already remade except the French fries, which they fry as you order. This was some of the best BBQ I have had in a while. We order the BBQ, BBQ ribs, hash and rice, and macaroni and cheese. Everything was delicious!!! They have a few sauces you can had to your food but there is no need because the food is just that good. The BBQ had a sweet taste to it and was very scrumptious. The ribs were some of the meatiest I have ever had!!! It wasn't even a full rack!!! The hash and rice was tasty as well. The macaroni and cheese was baked just how I like it. The meal also came with white bread and hush puppies. I usually don't like hush puppies but these had a sweet taste to them but not as sweet as a Harbor Inn's. I enjoyed them. I definitely will be back to try more things on the menu. I want to try their collard greens. If they are as good as the macaroni I will be all over them. TLDR at bottom Just recently moved to the Augusta area about a month ago and one of the things I was looking for was a good BBQ place. I truly believe that BBQ Barn is that place. Ate here on a Friday evening around 7 pm with my girlfriend and wasn't too busy or too empty in the restaurant. . I was greeted by the owner at the register and he sure gave us some great southern hospitality. He suggested a sampler and we went ahead and got the three meat sampler with two sides and two sweet teas. We chose the chicken, BBQ pork, and ribs with our sides of Mac and cheese and hash and rice. As soon as we filled our drinks up, our food was already coming out of the kitchen! We sat down and we were told about the four sauces and we really liked the Carolina sauce and Georgia red sauce. The sweet sauce was really good too, especially with the ribs and pork. Speaking of the ribs, they were amazing. It's what you should expect out of ribs being fall off the bone and perfectly cooked. We got a good portion of bbq pork and chicken and we definitely ate more than our fill. The Mac and cheese was really good too. I never had hash and rice before and it's sort of hard to describe, but nonetheless, tasted really good. We heard from other customers that the dessert was good and we were debating whether or not to get some, but decided to go ahead and try it. The owner suggested the Happy Cake, which is a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and heath and reeses toppings. What a great choice! And he was quite generous too with the slice he gave us. All in all, for $25, you not only get a lot of food, but a lot of very tasty food and will definitely be coming back. Thank you BBQ Barn! Great BBQ flavor without any sauce, however, they also have some of the best tasting sauce in the Georgia Red and Carolina Gold. He was an older gentleman who made me feel like I was a guest in his home. When he wasn't taking great care of me or another customer, he was cleaning. Was not happy with the food my plate was barbecue with hash and rice and collared greens. The greens were decent the rest was not really what I called good food the meat was not cooked completely and the hash and rice was not that great either. My girl friend had the chicken and potato salad and green beans, she told me that the chicken tasted as thought they had cook a day before and warm it up in a microwave with a dry taste to it. We got a sampler with four meats and two sides and also added two sides just to try things out...the star of the show to me for lunch was the brisket..it was seasoned well and very moist. The wife loved the collards and all the ribs, chicken and smoked turkey. The bbq beans were tasty and the potato salad was just ok. Really the only thing I didn't like was the assortment of bbq sauces..BUT in their defense I'm from a totally different area and I'm not a fan of vinegar based bbq sauces. And the very last thing I'll say is even though we didn't need it we both got a desert..I got the chocolate cake and she got the strawberry cake..and while the chocolate cake was delicious and brought me back to my childhood the strawberry cake was amazing and I thought about buying the whole cake to take home lol! My wife and I visited the BBQ Barn last night and we were totally impressed by the outstanding food we had there, which included their chicken, pork, baby back ribs, turkey, macaroni and cheese, hash / rice, green beans and probably more but this is all that I can remember at the moment. WE RATE THIS AS THE BEST BBQ RESTAURANT ANYWHERE - IN THE NORTH OR IN THE SOUTH! The best by far that either of us has ever enjoyed. Also, each person that we encountered in any way that work at the BBQ Barn were extremely helpful and friendly. OBVIOUSLY, WE CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE HIGHLY ENOUGH.
