My overall rating is 5 stars, primarily for the outstanding waitstaff, wonderfully attentive, prompt and fun. My 12 oz. New York Strip steak was 4 oz of gristle, competely inedible. The "steak knife" was not sharp so after sawing through a few pieces, i gave up and used my pocket knife ,with much better results. There was so much inedible meat left that the waitress asked if i wanted a to-go box! I know i will come back for more, at 99, but I won't order that piece of meat again. Very empty on a Saturday night. They now have digital tech check out at your table where your server literally watches over your shoulder as you select a tip, which starts at 20% unless you wanT make a big deal and select other. read more

The staff were really nice. The whole restaurant was clean and tidy. I got the New York steak with garlic butter and it was really good. My grandpa got the steak tips and it was really good. It was tender juicy and well seasoned. Our waiter was kind and really polite. One downside was the pasta I got was spoiled but they completely refunded us. I'll still give 5 stars though. read more

Ordered the St Louis style ribs today. On the menu it is advertised by saying it's fall of the bone. Well it wasn't. It should say instead sticks to the bone. Was in the area around lunch time and decided to stop in. We came in about 1135 which was right after they opened for lunch. Meet by very courteous staff and seated immediately. I was very impressed at how clean and neat the tables were, of course it could be because were one of the first customers of the day. Orders were taken quickly and our food came out pretty fast. Burger was cooked the way I asked and was very good. I was very excited after drinking my strawberry lemonade as I saw that they had a couple cherries under the lemon. So much so that I had to take a picture, that's why the drink pic has some lemonade missing! All in all a very nice restaurant with friendly staff and pretty good food! read more

The only reason for the two stars is for the lovely waitress who served us tonight. She was the best part of the visit. Helpful, attentive and pleasant! The gentleman host at the front door was gracious as well! I provided him with verbal information about my accompanying service animal, and though not necessary for me to do, offered my medical and vetinary documentation, which he refused, and welcomed us. Most upsetting this evening was the heavyset, short, middle-aged woman (a manager of some sort) who was most unwelcoming and outright obnoxious to me. After being brought to my booth, just as I was about to sit she abruptly approached me, with "No, no, no, no! No dogs allowed in here!" I stared, puzzled after declaring the function of my service animal minutes ago, and was embarrassed as she scolded me publicly drawing others attention. Again, I stated his purpose and she huffily walked away, and we sat, humiliated. This set the tone for my meal and I was very uncomfortable and felt unwelcome. She assumed he was a pet, and acted upon that rather than simply asking, as all restaurants do, if he was a working service animal. The poor assumption, coupled with the poor attitude, set the stage for this overall poor experience. She was a hair away from an ADA violation that I would have happily reported. The food was "ok" in the sense of edit-ability, but lacked flavor. The requested "rare" steak was medium well, basically ruining it and making it unpalatable. The shrimp and scallops were bland, as were the side dishes and vegetables. I will not be back here, and I hope this chain provides this "manager" with the training she clearly needs. read more

They have a good menu and offer many of your standard favorites, burgers, club sandwiches, nachos...you get the drift. My fiance spaced out due to some medical conditions and forgot to put his mask up as we were leaving and he gave us attotude instead of asking politely. His mom yelled at the kid and he was just being snotty and said 'well i work here' acting like being rude to customers was okay cause he worked there. The manager came out and offered us another entree which took about 20 minutes. This time we got the veggie burger which was burned to a crisp. No discount, no free meal. Just a lot of sorrys and replaced with burned food. In addition, the mashed potatoes I had tasted like pistachios. First time at a 99 Restuarant today. Their location on Airport Rd, Westerly RI is about 1/2 mile from our residence. I thought we would get burgers to go for lunch and try this establishment. I ordered at the bar. Two medium-rare cheeseburgers with Vermont cheddar and fries at $9.99 each. At home, as soon as I opened the food pack, the cheese was so melted I knew the burgers were well done. First bite confirmed my suspicions. The cook apparently decided to ensure the cheese was throughly melted at the expense of the burger request ! Additionally, the burger was clearly unseasoned with salt and pepper as the flavor was plain Jane. If I was at the restuarant I would have sent the burger back to the chef. The fries were decent, with no added seasoning that so many restaurants do today for some idiot reasoning. Long story short, I will not be returning. We have been been getting meals from this location since it opened, both in person and delivery. This review is primarily on their app and on their in-house review process. The app is problematic as it provides opportunity to order multiples of the same item but will not accept multiple sides to the orders. if you order 3 orders of one item as it allows, it will not accept sides if you don't order all meal individually...why offer multiples orders of the same selection if a customer cannot order that way? Where does the app give the option of ordering 6 identical meals when it won't accept multiple sides to with those same orders. Then when they provide an website link to lodge reviews/compliments/problems, the request requires detailed customer personal/private information down to home address, phone numbers (even if you don't feel comfortable with doing so) and more personal identification. who wants to move beyond providing where you live and how to get your phone number in todays world. While we like the convenience and quality of the business, there are issues that require revision. read more

I am an employee at 99 Westerly, RI. It's a good place to work because of my coworkers. Great group of people. Honestly, I don't need the money, but I stay because I don't want to leave the friends I've made. The money is good. They pay more than average hourly, but the tips are a decent part of your income. The food is unbeatable because they take pride in it. Coworkers have had my back since day one, and that is hard to find. So you pay it back whenever, and wherever you can. They are looking for help, so if you think it might be for you, then you should fill out an application. If you can hang in while you learn the process it only gets better from there. read more

I'm not sure who could ever hate on the 99. The boyfriend and I are obsessed with their burgers (Vermont cheddar burger, you will always be my first love), and I have a wonderful relationship with the fresh balsamic salmon. Really, how a family restaurant can do salmon better than most restaurants is beyond me, but I won't complain. We love this location because basically every time we go, we have amazing service. The down side has only been at night, in certain parts of the restaurant, it is FREEZING. But its a minor technicality that can be cured with coffee or soup. Speaking of soup - can never mess up the seafood chowder, and we found out today the french onion soup is delicious! I hate change, but luckily my boyfriend tried something new and I got to try something out of the comfort zone (settle down, I'm still talking about food here). I'm not sure why or when these other reviewers had a bad experience but honestly, the 99 is pretty straight forward whereever we go (we used to venture at the Groton one more but have since moved away). Not looking forward to never being near a 99 again in May, but we will have a reason to come back. Went here out of the blue last night. Here's my biggest issues. First off, smells kind of funky. Secondly, we weren't given any silverware. And last, I sent my steak back not once, not twice, but three times after specifically asking for it medium well. It was rare! The second time it was rare, the third time I didn't even send it back because I knew it would've been "accidentally" dropped on the floor at the very least. I don't mind a medium steak but this was rare and even my husband said he wouldn't have eaten it. To put the icing on the cake my 6 year old has food poisoning now. The really have to say I hate this chain. Nothing really against this chain other then the menu is a waste. Nothing for vegetarians to eat. There selection is poor and the menu rarely is updated. The tropical chicken salad was extremely small in comparison to the ceasar salad. The tropical was ok but I would not order it again. The ceasar was good. The turkey blt was large and had lots of meat. The fries were on the soggy side. The cannoli chops, summer special, was very good. It was a petite desert and tasted like a cannoli. Service was good. I mean what can I say, it's a chain restaurant. You certainly can't expect excellent food. We've been quite a few times and the wait is never too bad to be seated. I'm always disappointed with the menu choices here for some reason, it's like they never have just a plain grilled chicken sandwich, or burger. The pasta dishes are always extravagant also, nothing basic. I went with the honey BBQ wrap the other night and was very disappointed with it. It was huge! Shaq couldn't have fit his mouth around it! There were way too may veggies in it, including carrots which was strange to me and made it too sweet. I got a bite of chicken that was so tough I had to spit it out, possibly deep fried way too long? The 3 cheese nachos were awful, they were drenched what was supposed to be salsa but appeared and tasted just like marinara with Cilantro. Please don't order them. Solid chain restaurant. On our most recent visit I opted for the grilled angus chopped sirloin off the $9.99 menu and added on the salad and dessert option for a few extra bucks. Honey mustard dressing on the salad was solid (I compare all honey mustards to Chelos since theirs is my favorite). Meat, onions and potatoes all had great flavor. My boyfriend opted for the rustic chicken sandwich and devoured the whole thing (without sharing, as is typical).
